I'm still mad about the freaking legends reboot. They butcher everythings gameplay wise that was good.
The secret world was the only good mmo because it was mostly solo.
Par for the course. They abandoned Anarchy Online to work on The Longest Journey 2. And instead of finishing it, they ended it on a cliffhanger and abandoned it to work on The Secret World. Now they abandon Conan for Dune.
After playing Dreamfall and Draugen, it's clear that Ragnar Tornquist and Dag Scheve are responsible for most of the soul in this game. They need to make more video games.

Well yeah the main problem was him fricking off but it's not like Funcom did anything but milk the script he left behind. I'd rather he pick SW back up dammit.
That quest chain was fricking great. The Tokyo Fear Nothing Foundation stuff was also awesome. I never went back and played after the legeneds bullshit.
Scooby dooing around the world with your bros solving mysteries and shit was way better than doing it on your own. If I had to choose between MMO and singleplayer, I'd pick MMO. It's not like it had a subscription or anything, either.
>these MMOs will never get a single player patch/rework
Why must it be like this? ToR is an excellent example of an MMO that can be easily reworked into a single player game.
Brilliant fricking game. I love it so much. I want to live in the universe where it became super popular and spawned many other games.
FRICK. Man, on one end I'm a bit happy, but on the other end 5e. Frick. I wanted to try and run a TSW campaign in like, Chronicles of Darkness or something, still might, truth be told.
>Find out it's getting continued as a TTRPG
A-a CRUMB of plot? I'll gladly take it- >It's for D&D 5e because that's the only thing that seems to sell reliably
It's ogre
It's officially ogre
Well Exalted 3e has been bitterly disappointing so far and Exalted is roughly as schizo and autistic, so maybe you can solicit one from their community to help
Yeah, well, Funcom dropped development of it so of course it became forgotten.
I liked it but you simply ran out of anything to do besides make number go bigger ha ha ha.
It's one dope until you finish Tokyo. One of the best conspiracy and myth games made. Shame they handicapped it then killed it. The head writer dipped at the start though so they were always probably fricked once they got to Tokyo.
I always found it funny that the Phoenicians are basically more moronic, wannabe Illuminati.
>Don't even have bee agents >Mercenaries that consistently frick everything up routinely, even as the apocalypse approaches >That one agent who got shittalked by the mummy in egypt
It really doesn't help their image that the bee lore backstory for them implies they only exist because Lilith thot'd the Templar and Phoenician founders into a parting of the ways.
They don't even have the ambition to control the world and anything, all that skill, power and (theoretical) hoard of amassed magical artifacts and they're STILL stuck being shitty mercs for money.
>Illuminati >
Lmao >soulless corporate drones >first thing they do is inject you with a suspicious tracking device >consider you expandable, have no respect for your life
Yeah, Illuminati is a true choice of a corporate bootlicker. With templar at least you feel like a member of the organization.
Ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss-I am the truth pathogen-let me in.
Hiya Chuck. It's John.
PSA. They would have you think that enough public service announcements can cure cancer, can bring your dog back, can keep criminals at bay, can prevent the inevitability of a freak accident-accident-accident.
Listen to Tanaka. PSA after PSA. He's practically having a seizure trying to control this tiny world. I have a service message for him.
COMPLIANCE IS DEADLY. PROCESSING, PROCESSING, PROCESSING. THEY KNOW TOO MUCH. COMPLIANCE IS DEADLY.
It's all programming. All about being a good drone in the hive. And the buzzing voice is just a cosmic PSA. Dizzying words. THEY talk in riddles, and riddles are just a misdirection, another sort of wall. Tanaka keeps spinning words, terrified of what would happen without the wall. Not me, Chuck. I'll talk straight with you; You'll know this, because I'll tell you things you don't want to hear. Things you might tear your eyes and ears out not to know. You'll be wiser without those, Chuck. Imagine the relief in pressure. Imagine the insight of empty sockets.
Tear down this wall.
See you, Chuck...
>Game trailer shows qt milkshake drinkan, sword wieldan, glowy tattoo sportan azn waifu >Buy game expecting said waifu >Waifu is not frickable or even a relevant character within
Literally no porn either.
Utter disappointment
also a bit annoying since Rose, and the other two trailer character npc outfits were never released for players.
I liked the Frank West knockoff in the game
Solomon Island in general is just godtier. Sometimes I like to fire the game back up and run through it during the autumn months just for that portion.
This entire game has right about everything people complain modern games don't >attention to detail
That most of the after-mission reports have a personalized response from your faction Rep is amazing to me, even cooler that each 3 faction has a specific way to talk
Templar is lorenerd and dry humour London
Lumie is a parody of office politics / corporate bs
Dragon is weeb and strange >cryptic shit
For example I only noticed the Anima girl is in the Egypt train cutscene after a few missions >high IQ investigation missions
granted some of those require a frickton of general culture but fortunately they are all option and the wiki is there >references
granted some of 'em are dated and some I'm not even aware who they are referencing but hey tell me how society improved after 2010 >2012 is not the end, it's the beginning of the end
every iTard now had a voice in the wider internet which made evidence-based thinking become less of a factor >adaptive combat that makes nearly all combat specs viable
I fricking love this shit >tight-knit community with their own radio website and in-game events
The anniversary is next month and I'm looking forward to wacking Microwave pinhatas
>tl;dr
Game worth trying even if you don't like MMOs, the new combat system makes game soloable and the unique approach to America, Egypt and Transylvania is worth trying
Alas Funcom is a shitty company regarding dev time and even worse about marketing.
Game taking place in the same universe as Conan is also cool.
>>high IQ investigation missions >granted some of those require a frickton of general culture but fortunately they are all option and the wiki is there
First time with those is always a ride. I wanted to go through whole story at least once, but never got past Transylvania. Shame that Funcom didn't add Congo to the Classic. I liked my dory Templar. Geary is best handler though. Maybe I should try again, before Funcom closes it down?
If you're looking to make a new char on SWL (since idk if you can still transfer the original game toons) next month is anniversary which is good for xp gain)
Japan is genuinely creepy and you get cool stuff such as the AI , a story arc about Love Hotels and an entire Home Alone area filled with traps where you talk with a smug e-girl
>When she says that we're the first generation to grow up online, together alone
Reading that line a few years back was eye opening
go ahead and try, btw they did add South Africa as an area but the whole place feels like a fan-made dlc
>since idk if you can still transfer the original game toons
Was it ever possible? I remember I had to start from the scratch. Only cosmetics and weapons got unlocked. Good thing they didn't forget my end of the world garb. Shame about faction uniforms though. Game is installed. I'll probably run around Solomon a bit this evening,
>that entire storyline about the Lumies not knowing where their secret library was because centuries of backstabbing >was discovered by some college girls who just wanted a place to frick in peace >the scottish teacher with breast jiggle physics and red hair
Is this game f2p?
And while people keep talking about how it's solo-able, can you do the quests with a friend?
I hated how in some mmos you basically had to do each quest twice if you were playing with a friend.
Hello, yes, free to play. Unlike say ... swtor which doesn't let you equip a helmet if you don't pay, SWL is FULLY playable f2p
In fact I'm pretty sure the only stuff you get are faster xp (irelevant since you'll be maxxing in zone 3 out of 5), better in-game cash and anima rewards.
Game is pretty much perfect with a friend since you don't fight over rewards or dialogue options like and you may cover an entire map in one day of playing (if you skip the optional Scooby Doo missions)
Each zone has 3 maps, game has 5 zones
Templar bros ww@?
I think I may count on one hand the number of black characters I like and two of them are in a Funcom game (and amusingly, they were voiced by the same actor, Laranga in Conan and Richard in SWL)
>New England
Fantastic, mind blowing ambiance
>Egypt
incredible change of ton, disappointing
>transsylvania
Better ambiance than egypt but gets boring and repetitive
I stopped there
what did you dislike about the self-aware comedy that was Transylvania?
I genuinely think this is the first >20XX.... I AM FORGOTTEN
post that rings true that I've ever seen on this board. Usually it's just doomer gays shit posting about the latest good game.
>devs have made it so that the only way you can get new gear in this game is by unlocking lootboxes >llotboxes that you pay real cash in order to unlock
We've reached the levels of pure israeliteery never befare thought possible.
Yes, and not only that but it requires to download content even after you finish the install, and especially when entering a new area
You can speed up the process by disabling dload speed cap in the settings
That's a shame, I stopped right when I got the quest to go to Egypt and I was finishing up loose ends in Solomon Island so I didn't get to experience too much of the game. Anything that requires an active internet connection is no good for me
>there's the option to nuke the place butno one wants to take responsability
Would have just made things worse anyway. There's no fixing the island, just containing the box.
Tyler Freeborn? Yeah. It's pretty grim. I know they're beyond saving, except maybe Chen and some Secret World dwellers. I always wondered if the islanders could be saved, but probably even Carter couldn't remove filth from them.
Dragon>Illuminati>Templars
Never liked Dragons myself. Mystic blowjob was amusing though. Lumies have Geary, but Templar faction quests handler is the best. Good old Dame Julia, that crazy old bat.
>gypsy girl
she says she's not one, was only doing the act for money
she'd do a lot of things for money >Hazmat Girl
Marie Chen, fetish material >Andy
pure boy who found gipsy girl tied up and naked during a zombie apocalypse and didn't rape her
I'm pretty sure there's some sidequest that show's they're all actually infected. They can't leave.
The vanishing of Tyler has evil versions of chars from the island attack, showing most are infected
Technically Gaia could purge them but even the Templar handler tells you that you're not there to save anyone
>The vanishing of Tyler has evil versions of chars from the island attack, showing most are infected
I was actually referring to Orochi stuff that shows it but yeah that too.
Why bother? Shit's fricked, yo. We're just there to lock the place back up.
My personal idea was that if I were asked to continue the SW(L) storyline, we would go back to Solomon Island.
>Lilith mentions there is a way to cleanse the Filth that involves Gaia Engines >We'd need to delve into her knowledge on this somehow >We also know Excalibur has some kind of control over filth and filth infected >So we'd need to go and kick Cassandra's ass >We use Solomon island as a test bed because it's still a relatively low level of filth infection and comparatively recent to shit in other places >Carter, Excalibur, and the Gaia engines end up key for this, and with a lot of effort and more than a bit of sacrifice, Solomon island would actually be saved. >Or at least shit would be forestalled with the infection basically put into a dormant status and actually make John/The Dreamers bug out their eyes in shock because some little shits actually made them bleed.
Of all the dangling plot threads that will go forever unresolved, the one I most wish we got to see is the secret prison for bees who don't sign up with one of the established factions.
Let me just say that the Valentines event has a questline about chasing a brown girl (who's dad is a fat ugly bastard white guy who LONDON'd some woman from the colonies).
You chase her into a place with no witnesses, beat the shit out of her and steal her phone (which you may or may not use to date her)
It was never that relevant. We had a nice general in /vg/, before that board turned into gacha central and furry larpers haven. It died couple months after 2012 End of Times event. I don't think anybody cared about Legends here.
You can play it right now and not really miss much. The meat of it is basically single player, and it's good up to the end of Tokyo. The only thing you probably wouldn't see is the one or two raids and old events. The game was pretty much a premise that never got actualized but it has ridiculous depth in background.
>salaryman detective dresses in a fursuit while on a case to find a serial killer >in a part of the city the government has largely given up >says he doesn't know how to pee while wearing the suit
Idk if this was a description, satire or social commentary of the average japanese wagie but I'm amazed.
I had a fantastic time with the game. I mostly played with a Chaos Theorist deck. The story missions are fantastic of course but I was really surprised with how engaging PvP was.
It was a good time and gave me similar vibes to CoH. A real sense of place and a feeling of possibility.
You can ignore MMO parts for most of the time. I'd say it's worth playing for story and investigations alone. Just grab pistol+chaos or shotgun+hammer to turn it into easy mode.
Most people have a negative view of it being an mmo because they are making the assumption resources would have been diverted into making the single player experience better.
I don't think they're trying to make any of the experience better anymore. Secret World from the begining had solid lore, interesting missions, some decent stealth and one of the hardest investigations I've seen in a game that was not focused on them. A lot of people played it for the story and ignored most of the MMO parts.
If this was a single player game without the MMO bits, it would be hailed as incredible storywriting. A lore setting just shy of Elder Scrolls tier, within 1 game.
If you guys love TSW's lore, look up Shadowrun's lore and World of Darkness' lore
I wouldn't be surprised if the guys who made this were big fans of WoD
>Still I agree that there are other inspirations as well
It's a mish mash
X-files, lovecraft, supernatural, harry potter, stephen king, hellboy, everything that was trendy at the time of release
Redpill me on this game. I heard the combat is a painful slog even by MMO standards, and that really negatively impacts the enjoyment of the rest of the game.
it's closer to wildstar than wow in the gameplay. I never found it too cumbersome and some set-ups were sick like hammer and chaos or shotgun. you'd mostly stay hooked for the acid trip story though.
Nah I still think about it from time to time.
I got in a year or so before the game's real death, when it turned into Legends
Picked it up with a friend and went around questing together. I had grabbed some kinda disc thing that gave me tanky abilities and a shotgun and just zipped around on the battlefield hurting with dashes and spins while he played pretty standard ranged mage.
Both of us immediately locked in on Illuminati and jumped in. Co-oping some of the harder puzzle quest felt awesome as we just went "frick it, check the Bible again."
Damn shame the game was tied to a garbage ass MMO model that kept us from ever finding a group big enough for the few dungeons we stumbled across and wasn't just a single player/co-op experience.
Did anybody ever play the stand alone games in the Universe? I remember there was one set at that haunted amusement park location.
>"frick it, check the Bible again"
I remember that being my first investigation quest and I was just absolutely amazed by the fact a game made me pick up a bible irl to solve a puzzle. Nothing ever came close to that experience again.
Also, I still remember translating morse code at 5 am in the morning together with my buddy. Good times.
The people they contracted their ARGs off to formed a gamedev company, and they were hired to make a TSW spinoff, The Black Watchmen. It's a pure puzzle game made of nothing but the kind of puzzles you'd find in TSW. Some of the magic is lost when it's you, a real human bean sitting in front of a computer screen, solving the puzzles with your google-fu, rather than a video game character who runs around the supernatural world hunting for clues, but it's still worth checking out if you were into TSW's puzzles. They made a few other puzzle games but I haven't played any. They're all super cheap though.
Moons of Madness is a completely unrelated game that Funcom just quickly bought and slapped TSW elements into it.
On its own it'd be a fine game, but it's a shit TSW game that was obviously never a TSW game to start with.
>"frick it, check the Bible again"

Is it true the remake still hasn't all the dungeons and story events the original had?
I quit after the first Tokyo dlc release, couldn't lose that much time with a game that had no endgame to play through.
I actually bought all the dlc with money and it was worth it tough, the missions with the facility in transilvania and the indiana jones train were top tier.
Its a shame the company didn't put more people to work in it, cause it was WAY better than wow till you finished all missions.
And it made you read the lore cause it was that good.
I been browsing some youtube videos and i guess they release some south africa content on the remake?
At the time I quit they had never re-implemented the Tokyo dungeon or one of the raids, because they were too integrated with that special shields mechanic Tokyo (original game) had.
I doubt they ever did considering i think I kept the game installed longer than the funcom devs themselves had. they already all moved over to working on Conan aside for whatever tax loophole shit was going on between the Norwegian and American offices.
>shitty MMORPG from a B company >absolutely brims with soul and has excellently voiced dialogue with fleshed out and interesting NPCs for everything including irrelevant side quests
How did they do it
It's amazing what we're capable of when people actually give a shit about something instead of chasing trends for the sole purpose of making more money
I absolutely loved playing through Solomon Island but the game was already pretty dead when I played and I got burned out somewhere in Egypt, because the story got a little less interesting and the gameplay wasn't enough. Should I give it another chance? How do the later areas like Transylvania or Tokyo compare?
Transylvania is full of soul.
The whole facility missions ( i don't know if in the remake its dlc but in the original it was an extra issue) are some of the best missions of the game.
Totally would recommend them.
Its a shame they didn't make a single player game with all the lore of the game. Would have bought that shit full stop.
>i don't know if in the remake its dlc but in the original it was an extra issue
Everything from the base game is free in SWL. Aside from the stuff that is missing entirely, like faction missions. You're not getting the cosmetic stuff though.
Ah ok, that's nice i guess.
Still saw they didn't put the Tokyo dungeons in it tough.
The whole shield stuff from the original must have been a b***h to port and they just gave up on the game at this point.
At least they release South Africa, promised Congo and then fricking gave up.
I started playing this WAY too late, don't remember what year it was, but it was like past it's prime point. I still remember having fun for about 3-4 days and then I got bored, but the concept and gameplay was interesting, kind of enjoyed it.
I think if you played as part of the Asian clan there was some scenario/scene where you "awaken" or "become enlightened" by some bawd giving you a blowjob. If I also remember correctly I think the most popular clan was the Templars by a mile.
>the most popular clan was the Templars by a mile.
When given the choice between being a cool crusader, a NYC spook, or asian, most people will pick the cool crusader.
I'm weeb trash and wanted to be an Asian KATANA NINJA MAGIC ASSASSIN IN JAPAN. Templars just had sub machine guns and looked boring, but Dragons got KATANAS.
>Yamato, who runs the Korinto-Kai? Who sees the angles? Who hears the ball screaming in the machine? Who rips the wings off butterflies? Who makes his own hurricanes? When the thousand hells open, when the sky starts eating people, who'll protect you? Who do the demons look at and say, "FRICK! He's loony!" Who is going to drag this organization, kicking and screaming, into a new era? WHO, YAMATO? BEAT YOUR GUMS AND TESTIFY! WHO!?
Daimon Kiyota was awesome
I remember the two raids that were on the original game.
The new York one was a whole spectacle and you needed to have endgame gear from the nightmare dungeons (wich were hard as balls).
And the second raid was a b***h to farm the material to make the summon of the giant squid.
I loved the game I truly did, but I hated that it could have been so much more and funcom did nothing with it.
Oh god the whole forest surrounded by giant bugs and the whole treehouse with the notes of the kids trying to survive.
WHY WAS THE LORE SO FRICKING GOOD GODDAMIT.
Funnily enough, this game came out way before Stranger Things, yet Stranger things is basically a 1:1 ripoff of this one story line. A bunch of kids where one is special solve local mysteries that go bump in the night in the 80s in small town America.
What if every nightmare anyone ever had, every monster ever been written about and every fairy tale was real and appeared on a island due to some maniac cult.
>become a bee pilot >join one of three factions or else >go to an island full of zombies, wet zombies and goo zombies >learn that a guy who thinks he's Loki is messing stuff up >kick his ass >get fricked by a bawd >not in a fun way >take a gift or refuse it
It gives you different colored wings and does different effects like boosting damage or healing and whatnot. I think there's 3-4 colors you could get, probably 3.

That's a cool reward for an endgame mission.
Shame about the game dying and the reboot.

I'm almost positive that part is still in legends. You still make it that far and the ending wouldn't make sense without the ability. The game just dies directly after so there's not much to do with it. They abandoned the weird "3 types of armor and attack" endgame shit Tokyo had.

the biggest issue was how long they kept the tools from you. once you had a decent augment set up it wasn't so bad. still don't know if I'd call it fun. I'm fine with it tbqhf.
Odin gave Leif Erikson a vision to go to America (and on the way steal Excalibur, which is real, from the Anglo Saxons) to help Native Americans fight Mayans who are trying to wake up Cthulhu who is sleeping beneath an island off the coast of Maine.
It's a nice single player game if you like the aesthetics and the lore.
But the gameplay is boring, especially in legends, they butchered it and made it too simple and repetitive.
Were the original secret world servers still up? I remember you could still download the original loader and login like a year or two ago. I did and it was empty but I still had my character and the old gameplay.
My kingdom for a reality where this was a series of single player games with decent gameplay instead of some half assed MMO. Some of the stories in it were fantastic but you had to drag your ass through the rest of the garbage to get to them.
not to get all "it gets good 100hrs in :^)" but you did stop before it picked up again. I feel you tho, took a few passes for Egypt to click and the main plot of Transylvania is still the most boring to me, though the dungeons there are almost essential.
The worst quest in the game is the genie one, not only is entire dungeon WAY too fricking long and the "genie's" lines annoying, but the payout is literal nothing
I remember playing an entire night for 1 mission and I don't know if I'll do it again for the lore (which cannot be collected if you want to do the quest without rezzing)
>Still I agree that there are other inspirations as well
It's a mish mash
X-files, lovecraft, supernatural, harry potter, stephen king, hellboy, everything that was trendy at the time of release
>sam krieg >that big stephen king's area called Mancave with scores of books, pizza and laundry >that picture with SK and his fan trying his best not to kill his fan
>The worst quest in the game is the genie one, not only is entire dungeon WAY too fricking long and the "genie's" lines annoying, but the payout is literal nothing
The funniest part here is that was actually a DLC from the base game. I actually like the background of it but yes, it was pointless and should tell you how the game ended up crashing and burning.
I really enjoyed how the vampire in the quest basically described Gehenna, what with elders getting hunted and drained for their blood by swarms of lesser vampires, and how the "new" breeds are just stupid warlords and stupider caitiff
>the red hand
not to go into too much detail but shit like that was/is a thing, the commies had a LOT of secret bases in the Carpathians despite making buttfrick strategic sense
some are abandoned nowadays, some are american, some are an open secret that they are to be left the FRICK alone
Romania has a region called "Red Mountain" - Rosia Montana - where basically everyone wanted to open up mines. Everyone. The local populace for jobs, the gov for taxes/bribes, foreign corporations for cheap profits. Even the news supported it.
Nothing was opened, no one came to explain why.
>the whole Anima arc
kino
>the whole Vlad arc
I'll need a new wall of text, but as a teaser, Romanian lore is so interesting that it's amazing how no one made a movie of this sh it
The entire Vlad the Impaler arc is amazing first and foremost because they didn't go with the vampire approach
Secondly, the whole resurrection of Vlad being possible is 100% part of Romanian "pagan" lore, which is one of the reasons Christendom was so strong here (and why the Pope hated them so much they never sent crusades to help)_
>tl;dr
"Pagan" romanian ancestors (dacians) thought ressurection was possible, and even easy, it's just that you didn't really wanna return to this shitty world
they had a collection of stories similar to people waking up from the dead in hospitals and saying they only returned for their families
As such one of the reason they embraced Xtianity is that Jesus dying out of love for humanity and rezzing was already possible in their lore
Similarly Vlad comes back to cure his wife then fricks off with her to the afterlife
I ended up really liking the City of the Sun God last time. Working with the gods was kino and I actually was doing the dungeons this time so I understood more about the cult and hell dimensions.
I loved how every single quest in this game was kino, even if what you did some of the queststhemselves was some garbage mmoslop, the NPCs and cutscenes that came before and after made it all worth it.
The more puzzle and investigation quests though? Even single player puzzle games don't have shit that's nearly as good. Holy frick the first fricking zone has you googling bible shit in latin, it's amazing. I remember during that same quest I was texting my musician friend so she could help me solve some puzzle my tone deaf ass couldn't figure out.
I mean it's on purpose. Solomon is "spooky mystery island", Egypt is "fight the mad cult across the dunes", and Transylvania is "adventures in mythos." It's just held up to Solomon Egypt is kinda basic.
Egypt wasn't awful it's just Solomon was an insanely strong first act to follow and Egypt took far too long in comparison to actually get going. Solomon also had three very distinct zones while Egypt only really had two and the first wasn't that atmospheric.
Simply that most players are Western and can identify very strongly with the initial 'zombies! Cthulhu! America!' zones, while Egypt is a slower burn with mythology and atmosphere people aren't quite as familiar with (Indiana Jones stuff aside). Same with Transylvania: Cold War and Vampires are things a lot of players have a decent familiarity with.
Egypt wasn't worse, it just didn't tickle the brain in quite the same way on release. It also didn't have a really satisfying 'ending' - it's the second act and you never really get to grips with the 'main baddie' so much as it's setting you up to piss off Orochi and kick the metaplot into high gear.
Breaks in Time being part of the main story in SWL was a fantastic addition and completely fixes it, though.
Egypt's just different and slower.
Well, apparently I don't have my old character anymore. How long will it take me to rush to Transylvannia? I've played through Solomon Island so often I'll just replay some missions for flavor, but I want to pace through Egypt as quickly as possible.
I understand games don't have unlimited development budgets but it always bugged me how this game was called The Secret WORLD and yet you see so little of the actual world in it. The main questing and dungeon zones are all in just three places.
They could have used instancing and set-pieces to try and give you a more globetrotting adventure. Imagine completing a mission in the Solomon Islands and then getting a call from your handler- you have two missions available. We can send you to Hollywood California to stop a cult trying to recruit some Z-List celebrities to boost the power of their blood rituals, or you can decide to go check out the frozen ice Nazi zombies in the Siberian wilderness digging up an ancient WW2 bunker holding experimental weapons. Just be warned, whichever one you don't do could have consequences for the future. Things like that would have really sold its fantasy.
Watching the cutscenes here lends some VERY big gay energy between them, especially the one where they say they scandalized the community
Amazing how this doesn't affect me thanks to the quality
>game has gay couple >explicit speeches about how importing brown people is the future of the Templar >friendly and hostile NPCs make fun of current religions (Say your last prayer to your dead deity) >makes an entire region of brown people to kill >portrays the US army as the stupidest >Japan is all about a terrorist attack, human experimentation and kids getting killed by a SUICIDE CULT
>made all of this fun, despite this game able to upset the entire political spectrum
I dunno the average age of people on the chans, but right from the start the inciting event being 'subway attack in Tokyo' is pretty transgressive even years on from the actual real-life attack. The New York raid borrows a lot of 9/11 imagery as well.
I think Japan really gets it the absolute worst, though. The whole zone is a constant beatdown of Japanese cultural issues. I think what tempers it is that the game is also so clearly engaged and interested in showing you the positive elements, the 'cool stuff', as well. It's a balancing act that never really tips on one side or the other.
I mean, shit, there's a whole subplot in Blue Mountain about the Indian tribe being deliberately split by compensation money and wanting to build a casino with it lmao.
Very well described >Japanese cultural issues
You now remember the guy in the panties screaming to not touch his hentai hotglue figures while his little sister sucked an entire coke bottle in front of you while looking up
And that quest was about kids being abandoned by their parents (albeit in their case not on purpose)
For some reason while playing this game it always felt to me like I was playing as a non-canon character. Like this is a tie in game for a nonexistent TV show, where the real main characters are.
I got a vacation explicitly to play Conan and SWL since their anniversaries are back to back
The Conan anniversary event was cut short due to a bug
I am amazed
It was a piss poor "Event" They didnt even bring back the item drop buff because nobody left working knows how to code for AoC and every system is bugged to shit. It's a disgrace.
I like the setting and most of the game, the Khitai story and how Yag out-trolled his enemy was amazing, and the whole "sequel" to tower of the elephant
How about you?

I think Tortage is possibly the best starter zone to ever be made in a MMO, it immediately sets the tone for the game and is quintessentially Sword and Sorcery kino, Then the whole destiny plot going from a slave washed up on the shore to single handedly defeating a god

I've been there for like a week but I've done a raid, a noob dungeon - Toilet Tomb - and Palace in Khitai without dying once
In-Guild chatter is moderate
Honestly there are better guilds but they tend to act, forgive me for saying this, elitist

YEah the guild I joined were super busy one week running at least three raids and then have seemed to just die, nobody even chatting anymore, not sure if that was just because of the anniversary or what. Might make the swap some day
In classic pistols and elemental I have no idea if it was good or not. But I made my guy look like Gordon Freeman and wanted the lab coat that elemental got.
Turn on the AC, get your favourite drink, only do the quests required for the story, trust me when I say that Said, Nassir and the time frickery carry Egypt
Look senpai I'll be honest with you, Egypt kinda peaks at the train raiding quest
City of the Sun God is bleak and boring and the only interesting part is the boss battle (where the petrified Touhous help you)
Why did they launch the new game but doesn't let old players import their character into it? I stopped playing it since I don't want to grind another character all over again. I wonder how many old players left because of this. It's like Funcom is moronic.
I remmeber being let down by something about the Morninglight reveal but then the actual end piece was legit. Idk man, feels like with some effort they could have kept it going but they just gave up long before even the rework.

Like Vanaheim, SA looks to have been made by some devs in their spare time, likely before moving to Dune or leaving the company
Does this shit have a private server?
I always wanted to play it and I know at some point they completely changed it so I probably will never be allowed to play it in it's intended form but a private server would make me play it at least.
Tsw had the same problem of nobody at the company knows how to dev for that archaic engine. They'd have to remake stuff nowadays instead of have interns trying to puzzle out the backend stuff.
Uncap download speed, go get food, make a toon you like, pick a combo you like (you are able to unlock all talent trees) and just enjoy being amazed a game like this exists
>pick Dragon >wake up in Korea >sex worker is forced to have sex with you (and it's possibly 100% rape if you don't want to either because their mafia is waiting outside the room) >be informed your """organization""" is led by a pedo milk >get weebshit replies to your mission reports
Nah dragon is a terrible pick for a 1st playthrough
It still kind of makes me laugh that for a game that put so much effort into mythology and referencing the supernatural, so many people get the Dragon's intro so fricking wrong.
" According to Korean mythology, the yeowoo guseul provides power to the kumiho and knowledge (and intelligence) to people if they can steal and swallow one. The kumiho can absorb humans' energy with it. The method of absorbing energy with the "yeowoo guseul" resembles a "deep kiss" (i.e. a kiss using a tongue). The kumiho sends the yeowoo guseul into people's mouths and then retakes it with their tongues. If that person swallows the yeowoo guseul, however, and then observes "sky, land, and people", each observation gives the observer preternatural knowledge."
The Dragon play most on 'modern-meets-mystical' of all the factions, but they also require the most investment in terms of knowledge. Daimon is the ultimate payoff, though, so it's all worth it.
>they also require the most investment in terms of knowledge
This is why I couldn't get into them. This game is full of shit that requires esoteric /x/ knowledge to really get the most enjoyment out of, and dragons' references quite literally the most foreign to a pure westie like me, and presumably most other players.

I'm a SEAmonkey so I got most of the references. I will admit the blowjob took me offguard, though.
>pick Dragon >wake up in Korea >sex worker is forced to have sex with you (and it's possibly 100% rape if you don't want to either because their mafia is waiting outside the room) >be informed your """organization""" is led by a pedo milk >get weebshit replies to your mission reports

Press T for the character sheet and you might have builds in "gear management". They might've been saved locally though because I don't have anything there.
I have no idea what I'm looking at in my inventory. It's full of mods, signets, and runes.
it's all cosmetic. subscribing gets you like 2x XP and skill points or something but you'll unlock everything anyway. even the cash shop currency only really buys cosmetic unlocks. that said, fashion is pretty limited without that stuff. it's on you.
I bought it years ago for 8 bucks and got 100 hours of it. The common opinion seems to be if it was a single player game it would be one of the mlst memorable and beloved games at the time.
Tried picking it up a while back and they changed everything. Don't even think you start in that coastal town with the zombie starting area and Eldritch dungeon. Man it was cool, should probably reinstall it
>buy Founder's(or w/e the version was called) back before original TSW release >Funcom promises free content/or equivalent for lifetime of game >Changes model and offers paid credits to use for purchasing stuff from the in game store >Completely reboot game as TSWL >Now relabled all accounts and don't even offer those benefits anymore, account is just a basic account
At least they let me transfer my stuff from my TSW character, lol.
Did I play a different fricking game or something because my only memory of the secret world is from playing it for like five hours, enemies like zombies that switch to shooting invisible bullets if you lose line of sight or jump on a prop they can't get to you on, and a bunch of second life looking teenagers in some orange hub map using skateboard mmo mounts and erping.
Like I feel like I have no idea what people seen in this or if I played some nu-game like how runescape has like three different versions and everyone loves one and considers the other shit.
>download the game >hear the "finished downloading" sound effect for the first time in ages >then the login music
I never thought I'd feel nostalgia for something from the '10s.
I haven't forgotten it. There's going to be a TTRPG coming out later this year but unfortunately it's based on 5e
>Find out it's getting continued as a TTRPG
A-a CRUMB of plot? I'll gladly take it- >It's for D&D 5e because that's the only thing that seems to sell reliably
It's ogre
It's officially ogre
You guys are making me want to reinstall.
Last time I played was years ago before Legends launched. Got burned out towards the end of Egypt which I regret in hindsight. That first questing area is still one of the coolest I've ever experienced in an MMO. So many of those quests still live in my head rentfree just for how memorable and interesting they were.
not your fault since egypt isn't half as memorable, especially if you don't do the dungeons (and the hell dungeon in Solomon.) I've come to enjoy the last half.
Yeah, this threat convinced me to reinstall too lel, downloading it right now.
I remember the atmosphere of this game being amazing, especially during Soloman Island. Meeting all the different townsfolk and learning about them while getting the run down on how shitty things are. Running around fighting zombies, demons and eldritch bugs with your magic bee powers. Solving puzzles and unraveling the various mysteries of the game. It's just a lot of fun, bros. I wish I had finished the whole game before Legends.
The first time I completed a long "Investigation" mission on my own without any guide. That feeling was so much more satisfying than any Raid Boss clear. Such a shame the combat system held this game back so much.
I never had any issue with the combat system, to me it wasn't worst or better than other MMO, but I'm one of the few that enjoy the limited number of skill you could have at one time.
Some of them were pretty bullshit though, I remember one where unless you actually know Morse code, you absolutely needed to consult a guide to clear it.
I never had any issue with the combat system, to me it wasn't worst or better than other MMO, but I'm one of the few that enjoy the limited number of skill you could have at one time.
PvE combat got repetitive fast, but PvP was where the flexibility of the build system really shined. People came up with some crazy ass builds and tactics, especially Dragon players who were usually out numbered.
nah you can sprint (which is the mount) from the start and you upgrade with currency you get from missions. except the last one, that's cash shop only. subscribing gives like 10% more xp but doubles your currency gains.
Patron benefits aren't worth spending any money on if you're just trying the game. The extra anima shards from it(basic currency to upgrade items) can prevent getting bottlenecked but the main draw was reducing the cooldown on mission repeats, think it was from 72 hours to 8.
sub gives extra xp gain and currency gain and teleporting around doesn't cost anima, currency is only kinda meaningful if you wanna play long term and/or open your own scooby do museum
if anything the sprint is the only upgrade worth buy and the first ... 2 levels? are buyable with ingame cash
no moronic limitations like in swtor (where the economy is like Zimbabwe)
Press T for the character sheet and you might have builds in "gear management". They might've been saved locally though because I don't have anything there.
I have no idea what I'm looking at in my inventory. It's full of mods, signets, and runes.
Frick it, will download it and go through the story, never really got past Egypt but thinking about playing this without other players on my screen sounds kino
I should really get back to this game.
Completed the story (even the africa part),
but never solved the one investigation quest line in Kingsmouth, you know which one I'm talking about.
Don't really want to use any guide, so maybe it'll be unsolved forever
1. The whole first zone of Solomon Island (with a special emphasis on Blue Mountain, and the creepy house)
2. The Fear Nothing Foundation in Tokyo
3. Orochi Tower Tokyo since it wraps up everything
I never really went that deep on it but I feel like builds were a lot more customizable in classic.
I could never really replicate the exact same build I had on classic in Legends. Basically they streamlined the system but not necessarily for the better.
That said, Legends removes the horrible Aegis grind and I would recommend it over the original if only for that reason
I have vivid memories of fapping to my fem character in that exact outfit. I think there was also a glitch that would render them topless that I fapped to.
colour? can you post a tinyurl? My computer is roughly from the time this game launched and I've never had such crashes, only the occasional infinite loading glitch that required manual restarting

There was a command that you could use that would let you permanently delete a shirt from your hidden clothing inventory and if you did it while wearing that shirt you would go shirtless, male or female. I think its still in the game but if you find it, be careful with it, you can loose any cosmetic and would need to beg a GM to get it back.
Get to the dressing room and try on some full body suits. After some tries you should know, thanks to the garbage engine that needs 10 seconds to load a costume.
Legends wasn't fricked, it was just such a huge downgrade builds-wise compared against the original Skills Wheel.
Also leveling up gear was a horrible, horrible grind. If you played the original and remember the AEGIS System that Kaidan implemented to combat how powerful Bees were? ALL Legends gear works like that: you feed the XP modules in to the gear to gives it the bigger numbers. And you had little runes you slotted in to gear which also needed leveled up separately. Leveling up gear was a major timegating mechanic.
and I was just thinking of trying Legends
This little trip down memory lane into Classic is fun and all but I was endgame unlike some of the anons who said they got filtered by Egypt. I've already experienced the story and it's sad to see that there are no randoms running about, even in the hub.
Proof that bad gameplay will destroy your game even if you have literal 10/10 setting and aesthetics. Just how bad is legends? Will it at least offer a bit of nostalgia?
>Just how bad is legends? Will it at least offer a bit of nostalgia?
Worse gameplay and some stuff missing, also most of cosmetic stuff is premium only, and nobody sells aurum anymore. Story is still top tier and it's more solo friendly I think.
Anyone else?
Everything was perfectly in order for me. In Legends, I didn't try Classic.
>Worse gameplay >watching video on Legends >your weapons don't work together most of the time >they actively work against you with 2 sets of resource mini games
I liked TSW combat more but that's a bit of an exaggeration. some of the weapon abilities are straight trash (frick shotguns) but most of them work together fine, especially if you do the reasonable thing and pick one ranged/one melee.
Damn. I've been only playing for a couple of hours, but I'm already hooked on the atmosphere. The fact that I can't get anymore MoF after finishing daily challenges really bugs me.
You need to do like 8 main missions besides all the other (easier) challenges to max out rewards and you'll run out of quick missions after Egypt, take a break and enjoy the world lad, collect the lore items too if you really wanna marathon
I know. I'm currently clearing unique monsters and running chores for the survivers while trying to get to 12 level. The fact that I can't get a decent shirt with a tie in a day is really irritating though. But at least i can get it with MoF, I think in classic every decent shirt was item shop only.
>secret world thread hits the bump limit >in the year of our Lord 2023
luv u bros. Here's hoping something good happens to the IP eventually. See you, Chuck...
>when you make an mmo, but you really wanted/should've just made a singeplayer game instead
True.
It had so much potencial.
Pretty much.
I wanted to like it because I adore the setting but god the MMO bits just made it insufferable.
This and The Old Republic would be hailed as masterpieces if the devs didn't try to jump on the MMO hype train.
A real shame.
>no TOR private server
just
I'm still mad about the freaking legends reboot. They butcher everythings gameplay wise that was good.
The secret world was the only good mmo because it was mostly solo.
So much, indeed
god dammit pics like this make me want to go through again but I know it ends abruptly and not very well. why funcom. why are you so trash?
The reboot was only so they could fund their shitty Conan game.
After that, they completely abandoned TSW AGAIN, and focused only on Conan shit.
Par for the course. They abandoned Anarchy Online to work on The Longest Journey 2. And instead of finishing it, they ended it on a cliffhanger and abandoned it to work on The Secret World. Now they abandon Conan for Dune.
Can't stand it bros. It's not like selling the IP would make it better anyway even if they hadn't tainted it.
>It's not like it had a subscription or anything, either.
Classic had subscription for 6 months. Went b2p and then f2p with Legends.
Single player with optional multiplayer would have been optimal.
wow you have friends you must be so cool
Don't worry anon, they're all gone now but i'll carry the memory of tsw with me forever
FFXIV is a single player MMO. It's still doing well.
I hate MMO gameplay so much. I would love to play FF14 but damn
FFXIV endgame feels more like a coop Ys game than an MMO, the problem's all the bottom of the barrel MMO quests you have to do to get to it.
>these MMOs will never get a single player patch/rework
Why must it be like this? ToR is an excellent example of an MMO that can be easily reworked into a single player game.
Get vacation, play while you can, take screenshots
>Funcom
>good decisions
this would have been so kino as a singleplayer immersive sim. really liked the comfy new england area too
The area had the feel that Redfall developers thought they were making.
yeah playing redfall really reminded me of the secret world
hey maybe the setting's cursed
I haven't forgotten it. There's going to be a TTRPG coming out later this year but unfortunately it's based on 5e
Frick american only playing D&D they are a bane on pen & paper.
I'll gladly take it-
>It's for D&D 5e because that's the only thing that seems to sell reliably
It's ogre
It's officially ogre
I can't even imagine the amount of legitimate schizo autism it would take to DM a storyline half as mythologically elaborate as any of TSW's subplots.
Well Exalted 3e has been bitterly disappointing so far and Exalted is roughly as schizo and autistic, so maybe you can solicit one from their community to help
There was a really scary haunted house mission pretty early. I don't even remember why I only played a couple weeks but the setting was pretty sweet.
Whatever happened to the tv series based on it? Wasn't Johnny Depp suposed to be involed?
Investigation quests were so cool
Too bad the devs were too dumb to realitze that the only google results would be the solution to their game mere days after release.
This was proof that all it takes to ruin a great idea is to make it the wrong kind of game.
No Steam no buy.
but it is on Steam
So it is, under a different name.
No, in fact I have games on every platform and system. I was just being flippant.
it got rebooted under the new name
do you need all your games in one place on Steam
Yeah, well, Funcom dropped development of it so of course it became forgotten.
I liked it but you simply ran out of anything to do besides make number go bigger ha ha ha.
>but you simply ran out of anything to do besides make number go bigger ha ha ha.
He said while playing Diablo IV
I liked the Frank West knockoff in the game
Should I give it a try? I can tolerate MMO gameplay.
It's one dope until you finish Tokyo. One of the best conspiracy and myth games made. Shame they handicapped it then killed it. The head writer dipped at the start though so they were always probably fricked once they got to Tokyo.
counter point

>I am forgotten
Illuminati > Templars > Dragon
t. brainlet
Yeah
Dragon>Illuminati>Templars
I always found it funny that the Phoenicians are basically more moronic, wannabe Illuminati.
>Don't even have bee agents
>Mercenaries that consistently frick everything up routinely, even as the apocalypse approaches
>That one agent who got shittalked by the mummy in egypt
>*smuggles a dirty bomb into tokyo*
nothin personnel, kid
For an organization that's supposed to be one of the most ancient in human history, they sure make you wonder how they managed to last this long.
Lmao
>soulless corporate drones
>first thing they do is inject you with a suspicious tracking device
>consider you expandable, have no respect for your life
Yeah, Illuminati is a true choice of a corporate bootlicker. With templar at least you feel like a member of the organization.

COMPLIANCE IS DEADLY. PROCESSING, PROCESSING, PROCESSING. THEY KNOW TOO MUCH. COMPLIANCE IS DEADLY.
It's all programming. All about being a good drone in the hive. And the buzzing voice is just a cosmic PSA. Dizzying words. Top tier writing, lore, characters, etc. Shame about the MMO part.

also a bit annoying since Rose, and the other two trailer character npc outfits were never released for players.
Solomon Island in general is just godtier. Sometimes I like to fire the game back up and run through it during the autumn months just for that portion.
She's with you a little while during the tutorial and during the big story raid, so like 15 minutes of actual content
i thought they were making a single player version?
This entire game has right about everything people complain modern games don't
>attention to detail
That most of the after-mission reports have a personalized response from your faction Rep is amazing to me, even cooler that each 3 faction has a specific way to talk
Templar is lorenerd and dry humour London
Lumie is a parody of office politics / corporate bs
Dragon is weeb and strange
>cryptic shit

>high IQ investigation missions

Game worth trying even if you don't like MMOs, the new combat system makes game soloable and the unique approach to America, Egypt and Transylvania is worth trying
Alas Funcom is a shitty company regarding dev time and even worse about marketing.
Game taking place in the same universe as Conan is also cool.
>>high IQ investigation missions
>granted some of those require a frickton of general culture but fortunately they are all option and the wiki is there
First time with those is always a ride. I wanted to go through whole story at least once, but never got past Transylvania. Shame that Funcom didn't add Congo to the Classic. I liked my dory Templar. Geary is best handler though. Maybe I should try again, before Funcom closes it down?
Congo was included in one of the events as a teaser. It was a pretty cool little instance. Shame about the post-Tokyo shit.
The dialogue in this game is something else man. It's like it was made for schizos and it's beautiful.
>since idk if you can still transfer the original game toons
Was it ever possible? I remember I had to start from the scratch. Only cosmetics and weapons got unlocked. Good thing they didn't forget my end of the world garb. Shame about faction uniforms though. Game is installed. I'll probably run around Solomon a bit this evening,
I didn't play the original but I know from friends that a lot of content was cut and some shit didn't transfer over
Pleasant weekend, Anon
>Was it ever possible? I remember I had to start from the scratch. Only cosmetics and weapons got unlocked.
That was the case, you kept some of your outfit like the monster slayer jacket but your progress was erase.
>that entire storyline about the Lumies not knowing where their secret library was because centuries of backstabbing
>was discovered by some college girls who just wanted a place to frick in peace
>the scottish teacher with breast jiggle physics and red hair
I think I may count on one hand the number of black characters I like and two of them are in a Funcom game (and amusingly, they were voiced by the same actor, Laranga in Conan and Richard in SWL)
what did you dislike about the self-aware comedy that was Transylvania?
What was the best dungeon and why was it The Ankh?
most of the loading screens of this game were so good, really showed someone cared
Kleiner was a brainlet tho
>shooting yourself with smaller bullets to build immunity to bigger bullets
I never got past the second area of Solomon Island with the university and hell hotel. Did I miss out on anything good?
Yes Transylvania
I'll have to reinstall one of these days and finish the solo content at some point before they shut down the servers which is anyday now
I genuinely think this is the first
>20XX.... I AM FORGOTTEN
post that rings true that I've ever seen on this board. Usually it's just doomer gays shit posting about the latest good game.
>devs have made it so that the only way you can get new gear in this game is by unlocking lootboxes
>llotboxes that you pay real cash in order to unlock
We've reached the levels of pure israeliteery never befare thought possible.
I remember getting good gear from dungeons, but it was years ago. What happened?
Does Legends require an online connection? I want to play it again but I moved to an area with terrible internet services
Anything that requires an active internet connection is no good for me
move to an Eastern European country for good internet
Can't we just introduce some mass cleansing to Carter and use her to save Solomon Island?
Why bother? Shit's fricked, yo. We're just there to lock the place back up.
>cleansing
Why? Isn't she one of the only people who's not walking dead on the island thanks to her OP power?
>Geary explicitly stating she had to suck a lot of wiener to smooth things over after the last time the government came to """fix""" things
there's the option to nuke the place butno one wants to take responsability
>there's the option to nuke the place butno one wants to take responsability
Would have just made things worse anyway. There's no fixing the island, just containing the box.
>Best handler is waifu of best japanese demon guy.
I want to save the gypsy girl, Hazmat Suit chan and Andy. They're okay. Also it's alive.
I'm pretty sure there's some sidequest that show's they're all actually infected. They can't leave.
Tyler Freeborn? Yeah. It's pretty grim. I know they're beyond saving, except maybe Chen and some Secret World dwellers. I always wondered if the islanders could be saved, but probably even Carter couldn't remove filth from them.
Never liked Dragons myself. Mystic blowjob was amusing though. Lumies have Geary, but Templar faction quests handler is the best. Good old Dame Julia, that crazy old bat.
Dragon quest text and stuff made more sense the second time around.
>gypsy girl
she says she's not one, was only doing the act for money
she'd do a lot of things for money
>Hazmat Girl
Marie Chen, fetish material
>Andy
pure boy who found gipsy girl tied up and naked during a zombie apocalypse and didn't rape her
The vanishing of Tyler has evil versions of chars from the island attack, showing most are infected
Technically Gaia could purge them but even the Templar handler tells you that you're not there to save anyone
>The vanishing of Tyler has evil versions of chars from the island attack, showing most are infected
I was actually referring to Orochi stuff that shows it but yeah that too.
My personal idea was that if I were asked to continue the SW(L) storyline, we would go back to Solomon Island.
>Lilith mentions there is a way to cleanse the Filth that involves Gaia Engines
>We'd need to delve into her knowledge on this somehow
>We also know Excalibur has some kind of control over filth and filth infected
>So we'd need to go and kick Cassandra's ass
>We use Solomon island as a test bed because it's still a relatively low level of filth infection and comparatively recent to shit in other places
>Carter, Excalibur, and the Gaia engines end up key for this, and with a lot of effort and more than a bit of sacrifice, Solomon island would actually be saved.
>Or at least shit would be forestalled with the infection basically put into a dormant status and actually make John/The Dreamers bug out their eyes in shock because some little shits actually made them bleed.
Never heard abou this, cover looks like some mid 2000 game
mid from now I suppose.
Of all the dangling plot threads that will go forever unresolved, the one I most wish we got to see is the secret prison for bees who don't sign up with one of the established factions.
What secret prison?
I rember one of the phoenicians teleporting to "Carthage" in one mission and then there's the entire fricked up story with Orochi
The Hive, it's mentioned once or twice in the lore but it's never relevant in any meaningful way.
Let me just say that the Valentines event has a questline about chasing a brown girl (who's dad is a fat ugly bastard white guy who LONDON'd some woman from the colonies).
You chase her into a place with no witnesses, beat the shit out of her and steal her phone (which you may or may not use to date her)
I'd have liked to know about Ganker when this game was relevant
It was never that relevant. We had a nice general in /vg/, before that board turned into gacha central and furry larpers haven. It died couple months after 2012 End of Times event. I don't think anybody cared about Legends here.
Yeah but all my irl friends were too poor to play anything like this and I never had an interest in csgo
You can play it right now and not really miss much. The meat of it is basically single player, and it's good up to the end of Tokyo. The only thing you probably wouldn't see is the one or two raids and old events. The game was pretty much a premise that never got actualized but it has ridiculous depth in background.
You missed nothin' except the masses of blizzdrones shitting up every mmo thread.
Their where allot more wowgays back then, wonder what happened? LMAO
Once in a while, I think about going back to this game but I hear Legends fricked it beyond repair.
community is active, you get into raids by asking, enjoy while you can because idk how successful Funcom's DUNC mmo will be
Legends is atrocious if you were used to play the original. They got rid of the skill wheel and mess up with the upgrade.
>salaryman detective dresses in a fursuit while on a case to find a serial killer
>in a part of the city the government has largely given up
>says he doesn't know how to pee while wearing the suit
Idk if this was a description, satire or social commentary of the average japanese wagie but I'm amazed.
I remember seeing a trailer for this a decade ago but I thought it was vaporware. You're telling me this actually came out?
yeah and it's kino if you like conspiracy and myth shit.
Yeah, and it's pretty fricking great if you can get past the "technically an MMO" part of it.
>You're telling me this actually came out?
twice
I had a fantastic time with the game. I mostly played with a Chaos Theorist deck. The story missions are fantastic of course but I was really surprised with how engaging PvP was.
It was a good time and gave me similar vibes to CoH. A real sense of place and a feeling of possibility.
Needed to be a coop spectacle fighter game WITHOUT infinite respawning zombie enemies
This game always felt like a Shadow Hearts + Silent Hill + Assassin’s Creed mashup. Wish it wasn’t a MMO at all. Looks pretty cool.
It's Call of Cthulhu meets X-Files before anything else. Still I agree that there are other inspirations as well.
I never found it too cumbersome and some set-ups were sick like hammer and chaos or shotgun. you'd mostly stay hooked for the acid trip story though.
>acid trip story
Don't know what you're talking about. That's a perfectly normal metro station.
My screen wasn't attached for some reason.
There were stand alone games?
Didn't know.
I know there was one called The Park.
No idea if they did others.
They're all super cheap though.
>they were hired to make a TSW spinoff, The Black Watchmen
Didn't HBO do that?
Moons of Madness is set in the same universe too.
Moons of Madness is a completely unrelated game that Funcom just quickly bought and slapped TSW elements into it.
On its own it'd be a fine game, but it's a shit TSW game that was obviously never a TSW game to start with.
Worth playing? I really would like a few good games with the same vibes as TSW.
Good times.
>mfw busting out a notebook to translate the hell runes
the investigations were built different
I played The Park.
It's about a crazy woman who stabbed and killed her son with an ice pick.
Is the Boogeyman even part of it?
He's the one that corrupted her into doing it
Is it true the remake still hasn't all the dungeons and story events the original had?
I doubt they ever did considering i think I kept the game installed longer than the funcom devs themselves had. they already all moved over to working on Conan aside for whatever tax loophole shit was going on between the Norwegian and American offices.
>shitty MMORPG from a B company
>absolutely brims with soul and has excellently voiced dialogue with fleshed out and interesting NPCs for everything including irrelevant side quests
How did they do it
It was a miracle.
I wish Johnny Deep had produced the tv series but the fricking divorce fricked the chance i guess.
>I wish Johnny Deep had produced the tv series
Excuse me, what?
It's amazing what we're capable of when people actually give a shit about something instead of chasing trends for the sole purpose of making more money
game made by players for players
unfortunately they thought everyone has friends to play
I hope we can all agree that Ak'ab is the best pet?
As I said it was not in the base game.
It was in the extra issues that you had to buy appart.
Like Tokyo and all that.
I worded it poorly. All the extra missions from Issues are integrated into TSWL. You don't have to buy them anymore.
Ah ok, that's nice i guess.
Still saw they didn't put the Tokyo dungeons in it tough.
The whole shield stuff from the original must have been a b***h to port and they just gave up on the game at this point.
At least they release South Africa, promised Congo and then fricking gave up.
Transylvania is mostly another side story but both it and Egypt perk up a lot at the end. Then the post base game stuff is fantastic.
Dragon were the most based. Literally /ourguy/ in Tokyo.
>the most popular clan was the Templars by a mile.
And blowjobs.
same
nice boner, I mean bonus
Its never forgotten, just a painfully sweet memory on the dark....
this game had some bangers tbh
Its full of stars...
Reinstalling right now, someone give me a quick rundown on the main story up to egypt again.
What if every nightmare anyone ever had, every monster ever been written about and every fairy tale was real and appeared on a island due to some maniac cult.
>become a bee pilot
>join one of three factions or else
>go to an island full of zombies, wet zombies and goo zombies
>learn that a guy who thinks he's Loki is messing stuff up
>kick his ass
>get fricked by a bawd
>not in a fun way
>take a gift or refuse it
Did the whole taking the gift have any relevance in the endgame at all?
Cause the wing guys are the only ones that referenced it at all.
Not in TSWL. There was something about it in the Classic, but I never got that far.
You get an ultimate power based on your choices at the end of Tokyo. Then the story dies so, ya know, frick you.
Oh really, wich ones?, never finished Tokyo.
They abandoned the weird "3 types of armor and attack" endgame shit Tokyo had.
a lot of people hated the AEGIS system
the biggest issue was how long they kept the tools from you. once you had a decent augment set up it wasn't so bad. still don't know if I'd call it fun.
Man the dungeons were a trip and a half.
Should I play this game? I've seen the threads before and even if its an MMO it sounds alright
It's free and at least story and characters are good.
It's a nice single player game if you like the aesthetics and the lore.
But the gameplay is boring, especially in legends, they butchered it and made it too simple and repetitive.
>my brainlet friend accepted the "gift"
roast his ass over that to this day lmao what a dumbass
Were the original secret world servers still up? I remember you could still download the original loader and login like a year or two ago. I did and it was empty but I still had my character and the old gameplay.
Yeah they are, you can't make new accounts tough.
Yeah I just checked and they are wow. It is fricking bizarre they left those up all this fricking time.
On that note I should replay Tyler Freeborn and the Transylvania Anima stuff again.
My kingdom for a reality where this was a series of single player games with decent gameplay instead of some half assed MMO. Some of the stories in it were fantastic but you had to drag your ass through the rest of the garbage to get to them.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OU1qkH7Fwqw
don't open it
>~Ladadaaaa~
Was it kino?
Nassir was based. I liked the Indian Jones stuff and especially the whip.
Templar bros ww@?
>New England
Fantastic, mind blowing ambiance
>Egypt
incredible change of ton, disappointing
>transsylvania
Better ambiance than egypt but gets boring and repetitive
I stopped there
not to get all "it gets good 100hrs in :^)" but you did stop before it picked up again.
I remember playing an entire night for 1 mission and I don't know if I'll do it again for the lore (which cannot be collected if you want to do the quest without rezzing)
>sam krieg
>that big stephen king's area called Mancave with scores of books, pizza and laundry
>that picture with SK and his fan trying his best not to kill his fan
I think I even filmed it, may dig that up
>The worst quest in the game is the genie one, not only is entire dungeon WAY too fricking long and the "genie's" lines annoying, but the payout is literal nothing
The funniest part here is that was actually a DLC from the base game. I actually like the background of it but yes, it was pointless and should tell you how the game ended up crashing and burning.
Holy frick I found the link
https://mega nz / file / RcpjEQbL#-co7SuNqmjYbCkp-v1NPsAxA69aX5EwCZDUsuNfefKY
add dot after mega and glue the link
If anything, this game PROVED that atmosphere is king but they failed so fricking hard at marketing
>mancave
>basement larger than most people's homes
>pizza, books and velvet chairs
Transylvania was a slog, but the end of the last zone was my favorite.
>my god, it's full of stars
I apologize for the autism.
Haven't played since they kicked off Legends. Can you still solo every level-relevant dungeon with a tank + leech healer build?
>Can you still solo every level-relevant dungeon with a tank + leech healer build?
Dunno but you should test and report back. Would be great news.
Egypt WAS worse than New England, but still pretty good if you ask me
That dude was kino, all egypr should have been about mummies lore, rather than terrorists vs GIs
I ended up really liking the City of the Sun God last time. Working with the gods was kino and I actually was doing the dungeons this time so I understood more about the cult and hell dimensions.
Still my favorite zone but I always was a sucker for Egpyt. I probably would have loved Congo too, I'm sad we never got to see it.
I think I might be able to find my old account and play single player to enjoy the story, what is exactly the difference between og and Legends?
the combat mostly. classic also has faction missions and the aids version of tokyo.
Bros, why couldnt this game have succeeded. FRICK, it WAS good. It deserved better.
combat was kinda trash even when playing with a friend in the original
I 100% agree. But the game was still good. Real good.
I made a graph.
Egypt had Nassir, the mummy guy and going back through time so that should be specified
The end of Tokyo going through Orochi Tower was pure kino
Why did people hate Egypt so much?
It was fine but compared to all of New England, was just weaker overall. Plus I'm sure some people hated the bright sun.
New England was just a really, really strong first zone, with classic elements to it such as the zombies and draugr, with crazy atmosphere.
Not much going on. The island shit had secrets on every corner while Egypt is more straight forward.
Huge tonal change from Solomon Island, just completely different, it was jarring to me as well at first but it does have its moments
It would have been fine without all the "operation desert storm" bullshit ambiance
I play it. I joined the Illuminati.
I wish I could play the non Legends version of this game again bros.
You can? The servers are still up if you remember your account details.
I don't sadly.
still remember basedfacing over the trailers
Is there anywhere I can read all TSW lore at?
https://wiki.crygaia.org/view/Lore
that website set my antivirus on alert, I use this for lore and quests and such
https://legacy.tswdb.com/lore
mine too I just ignored it since I always used that site before. yours is much better though.
Things like that would have really sold its fantasy.
with an mmo you want a few big areas you can reuse a lot
not small one off areas
You moron, it refers to the secret world of secret societies combating paranormal threats going on behind all the mundane scenes
post you're toon
Watching the cutscenes here lends some VERY big gay energy between them, especially the one where they say they scandalized the community
Amazing how this doesn't affect me thanks to the quality
because it's played as a joke and that's fine. it doesn't have to get all brokeback mountain whenever two homos show up.
I'm pretty sure it's explicitely stated they're gay
>game has gay couple
>explicit speeches about how importing brown people is the future of the Templar
>friendly and hostile NPCs make fun of current religions (Say your last prayer to your dead deity)
>makes an entire region of brown people to kill
>portrays the US army as the stupidest
>Japan is all about a terrorist attack, human experimentation and kids getting killed by a SUICIDE CULT
>made all of this fun, despite this game able to upset the entire political spectrum
Very well described
>Japanese cultural issues
You now remember the guy in the panties screaming to not touch his hentai hotglue figures while his little sister sucked an entire coke bottle in front of you while looking up
And that quest was about kids being abandoned by their parents (albeit in their case not on purpose)
From way back at the beginning of the /tswg/ days
Reading through this thread was fun, game was in a story state for a long time but I had fun with it for what it was.
If you can't beat them, join them.
I don't have any screenies but she was a generic dress shirt + pants looking spook
Holy frick I remembered my login ID, I'm about to get back into this b***h.
Is it possible to solo dungeons in classic or will I have to skip them?
For some reason while playing this game it always felt to me like I was playing as a non-canon character. Like this is a tie in game for a nonexistent TV show, where the real main characters are.
The dungeons and factions quests, and especially the """raids""" actually help a lot with this.
Funcom mishandle every MMO they run
t. butthurt Age of Conan player
Did you at least get the horse?
Yeah, the 50 Expertise points were decent too, I don't know why I still play this dead game, I just have an attachment to the setting I guess.
Happy for you, Anon
>why play this game
I like the setting and most of the game, the Khitai story and how Yag out-trolled his enemy was amazing, and the whole "sequel" to tower of the elephant
How about you?
I think Tortage is possibly the best starter zone to ever be made in a MMO, it immediately sets the tone for the game and is quintessentially Sword and Sorcery kino, Then the whole destiny plot going from a slave washed up on the shore to single handedly defeating a god
>possibly the best starter zone made in an MMO
A solid 9/10, complete with the tropical location and impecable music
I'm not gonna ask for a name here but I'm in The Fugarwe Tribe and ran a dungeon run with them before a Tier 6
>The Fugarwe Tribe
Worth joining? I see their excessive guild recruitment messages in Global all the time
I've been there for like a week but I've done a raid, a noob dungeon - Toilet Tomb - and Palace in Khitai without dying once
Might make the swap some day
are the illuminati glowies in this game i wanna be a glowie i am ready and willing to die for my masters
The whole game is about being a glowie
The Lumies get increasingly butthurt every time you kys and/or otherwise go off the radar because it makes their GPS useless
oh yeah this game has missions where you need to kys to progress
You look like an unironic tv show
you too
especially you
I don't get it.
it's a compliment you dip
What weapons did you rock bros?
In classic I chose assault rifle + blood magic without knowing what I was doing.
In Legacy, shotgun + pistols.
In classic pistols and elemental I have no idea if it was good or not. But I made my guy look like Gordon Freeman and wanted the lab coat that elemental got.
I went pure caster with blood and elemental
Rifle+Shotgun. Leach healing is my jam and a shotgun is a shotgun!
teen me chose epic totally not edgy dual pistols with sword secondary
rolling around being a glass cannon critting and cleansing
during the beta I only went pistols with no other weapon because I thought that was viable
later I went shotgun + hammer
i'm stuck on the desert level lol. its so boring.
Turn on the AC, get your favourite drink, only do the quests required for the story, trust me when I say that Said, Nassir and the time frickery carry Egypt
alright. does it get better after the desert level?
depends really. you're still in the desert but its more occult, less indian jones.
Look senpai I'll be honest with you, Egypt kinda peaks at the train raiding quest
City of the Sun God is bleak and boring and the only interesting part is the boss battle (where the petrified Touhous help you)
Transylvania is significantly better
Yes. Egypt is the lowest point.
Dropping some old screenshots
post more Carter
For me it's the British girl that hangs out with the drunk lunatic in the park in London
Why did they launch the new game but doesn't let old players import their character into it? I stopped playing it since I don't want to grind another character all over again. I wonder how many old players left because of this. It's like Funcom is moronic.
How far as has the story gotten if at all? Has it been updating?
Maintenance mode for the past few years. Last update was some stuff in South Africa that wasn't very good (ending was kinda cool.)
>the nuclear family
I honestly couldn't tell you exactly what happens but the area was cool, and the lead up mission was fun.
I actually feel you, I don't remember much from the build up except for the call center missions kek
I just liked the ... pun at the end with the creepy family "made of stars"
He's literally me.
I loved the deck pictures, too bad only the templars had good ones.
I picked claws as my second simply because of the sweet white suit templar preachers got.
I liked some of the Illuminati ones.
Dressing up like a glowie while fighting supernatural shit was cool.
SWL actually took a handful of those outfits and recolored them for each faction. pretty sure that one is included.
Oh man, you just reminded me I chose my build based exclusively on the preacher deck picture
We have websites for the lore docs but what about cutscenes and NPC dialogue and shit? I don't want the fantastic lore for this game to disappear.
most of the game is on israelitetube it's just scattered about.
Does this shit have a private server?
I always wanted to play it and I know at some point they completely changed it so I probably will never be allowed to play it in it's intended form but a private server would make me play it at least.
>private server
game has like 1000 players and is free
they changed it didn't they?
I want the original release
I had this funny glitch happen once
Howdy
playing as a cowboy who used Guns and Magic was really fun
We should all reinstall SWL and form our own guild and play through the whole game together!
already made me reinstall tbh. hope there's at least a few nigs around still down to run through dungeons on the way.
I'd join but for some reason the game is prone to abrupt crashing on my system.
I'd join on classic but I'm not really interested in SWL
When are they making it single player offline
Tsw had the same problem of nobody at the company knows how to dev for that archaic engine. They'd have to remake stuff nowadays instead of have interns trying to puzzle out the backend stuff.
>archaic
but anon it had tesselation, which was cutting edge at the time
What's the best way to experience the story in 2023
Chaos/shotgun basically means you'll never. Ever. EVER fricking die.
just play it. there's no trick or secret really. it's just a forgotten game.
Uncap download speed, go get food, make a toon you like, pick a combo you like (you are able to unlock all talent trees) and just enjoy being amazed a game like this exists
don't pick dragon
>don't pick dragon
you all have never seen a coin land on its edge and it shows. not good for a first run tho I'll give you that.
>pick Dragon
>wake up in Korea
>sex worker is forced to have sex with you (and it's possibly 100% rape if you don't want to either because their mafia is waiting outside the room)
>be informed your """organization""" is led by a pedo milk
>get weebshit replies to your mission reports
Nah dragon is a terrible pick for a 1st playthrough
yeah it makes more sense when you know whats going on. still great.
Daimon is the ultimate payoff, though, so it's all worth it.
she can kumiho my yeowoo guseul anytime if you know what I'm sayin
>they also require the most investment in terms of knowledge
This is why I couldn't get into them. This game is full of shit that requires esoteric /x/ knowledge to really get the most enjoyment out of, and dragons' references quite literally the most foreign to a pure westie like me, and presumably most other players.
I'm a SEAmonkey so I got most of the references. I will admit the blowjob took me offguard, though.
Templars are the decent ones
>don't pick dragon
Laughs in pachinko
Legends update killed it
what third faction would you add to replace dragon that isn't fricking lame like dragon
freemasons? triumvirate?
tamil kings
the equivalent of a 1 insight playthrough on bloodborne
>whadefugg is dis???? fug u :DDDD *blows ur head off with a pistol*
What was her problem?
You can still play this game??
ye
I never played the original
is it still worth it installing legends to experience the solo content?
Sure. The story is pretty good.
All right, downloading now
this better not be Ganker tricking me again
last time you guys made me play battleborn
It hits better if you like schizo stuff but it has insane depth in setting regardless.
Yeah but no faction missions. That's all I remember.
what did legends change
are the story still the same?
all this talk made me redownload
>account still auto logged in
>character gone
uhhhh, what?
Anyone else?
my stuff was still there yesterday on both my characters.
Still had all my stuff on classic
Couldn't tell you anything on Legends
Downloading
Should I get DLCs on steam
I don't mind spending a bit of cash to make my life easier
it's all cosmetic. subscribing gets you like 2x XP and skill points or something but you'll unlock everything anyway. even the cash shop currency only really buys cosmetic unlocks. that said, fashion is pretty limited without that stuff. it's on you.
Every year, I'm here with my friends watching the PC Game Show and hoping for a TSW2 announcement.
The investigation quests were absolute kino, but yeah it should have been a single player game.
Man it was cool, should probably reinstall it
Would have been a top tier single player game. The quests, setting, and lore are great
>buy Founder's(or w/e the version was called) back before original TSW release
>Funcom promises free content/or equivalent for lifetime of game
>Changes model and offers paid credits to use for purchasing stuff from the in game store
>Completely reboot game as TSWL
>Now relabled all accounts and don't even offer those benefits anymore, account is just a basic account
There was a streamlining when the game went F2P and you didn't start in the rainy zombie town anymore and instead in some confusing generic hub iirc
I've played Sacred World Legends for 30 minutes and loved it should I keep playing?
Yes, but just remember.
All good things must come to an end, and that end is shortly after Tokyo.
>download the game
>hear the "finished downloading" sound effect for the first time in ages
>then the login music
I never thought I'd feel nostalgia for something from the '10s.
Cute!
Well there hasn't been any story content since that african base, the frick else is there to do?
Do you go through a struggle snuggle with an asian prostitute if you play a female Dragon character as well?
Yep. Kek.
>every female Dragon operative is either a dyke or coping with being molested
Man, this game is really going places.
trust the plan
It is simply the Dragon's will.
You didn't lie to me, it's still up, best news of the day.
Frick it, I'm going in too.
I miss it bros...
It had its moments.
I remember a website to see your character and it's progress, but I forgot the name. Is this still up ?
no they took the chronicle down after SWL launched
The Josh Strife video on it is pretty good.
Damn the old forum are still up and most addons too. This is freaking weird.
PvE combat got repetitive fast, but PvP was where the flexibility of the build system really shined. People came up with some crazy ass builds and tactics, especially Dragon players who were usually out numbered.
I loved this game.
Shame Funcom revived it, gutted it all for Chankoro c**ts.
I wish they released a physical lore book
> WILL NEVER FORGET BIG MIZ
First time playing
is there something similar to SWTOR's subscription thing where I get extra exp and a movement speed boost?
nah you can sprint (which is the mount) from the start and you upgrade with currency you get from missions. except the last one, that's cash shop only. subscribing gives like 10% more xp but doubles your currency gains.
I got locked out of my account years ago and when called support they just told me to make a new one. The game was cool but frick that company.
You can restore your password
>t. can play both versions with one account
Was able to login but I don't remember anything about my differents builds.
same but they changed a ton of shit anyway
I'm log on the old server, with the skill wheel.
Press T for the character sheet and you might have builds in "gear management". They might've been saved locally though because I don't have anything there.
I have no idea what I'm looking at in my inventory. It's full of mods, signets, and runes.
>unfair.co shut down its website
Man that's depressing
wtf? I remember looking up a walkthrough on this a few months ago
Damn. The loss of that information is really sad.
>tfw you realize the majority of the internet's history will forever be lost to make way for more ads and spambots
What the frick?! Nooo, I need that site for future playthroughs. Is there a backup?
tswdb is still up. the classic quests are the same in legends mostly.
>tswdb is still up
Umm...
probably just an expired certificate
>Chrome
does it on firefox too, same with crygaia. I ignored it but I get why anon is sus.
no I know, the >Chrome is a separate clause
>Chrome
Cassini is laughing at you
Try instead
>they killed me
This thread still alive? Gonna play it today. See you in Agartha.
>science boffins status
>baffled
Have fun, anon.
I loved this game back in the day but I'm genuinely as surprised as you are.
Whew this thread is still up.
SEX WITH CARTER
For me it,s the Sco'ish teacher at the same school.
Also yes.
Where me Templar bruvs at?
i am so fricking mad that funcom botched this game.
Frick it, will download it and go through the story, never really got past Egypt but thinking about playing this without other players on my screen sounds kino
Nothing really reaches the heights of the first zone, but everything after Egypt is genuinely good, definitely recommend bearing with it
Are there any private servers?
I should really get back to this game.
Completed the story (even the africa part),
but never solved the one investigation quest line in Kingsmouth, you know which one I'm talking about.
Don't really want to use any guide, so maybe it'll be unsolved forever
Personal ranking:
1. The whole first zone of Solomon Island (with a special emphasis on Blue Mountain, and the creepy house)
2. The Fear Nothing Foundation in Tokyo
3. Orochi Tower Tokyo since it wraps up everything
Not Silent Hill was a great starter zone. It bums me out we aren't getting resolution with this game
>the Secret World thread still up
Just remade a character on TSW classic, I'M going in.
Is classic better? What's the difference between that and Legends.
The combat was more complex and difficult.
The whole abilities wheel was fun tough.
There's a couple dungeons that are not implemented on legends too.
If you JUST want to experience the story and don't have a lot of free time, play legends. But I highly recomend playing classic if you can.
>ywnb a cool bee
I have a bunch of those for Templars at least. Paladin is the coolest stuff.
I remember rushing this one specifically.
My edgy teen self liked the skull ski mask.
Templar had the coolest outfits
I did not remember this game having a whole bunny suit in it.
Try Snake Chamber.
I have vivid memories of fapping to my fem character in that exact outfit. I think there was also a glitch that would render them topless that I fapped to.
Ye I just installed the game, made a character, crashed and when I loaded back up she had her top off
Are there nipples?
Ye surprisingly
colour? can you post a tinyurl? My computer is roughly from the time this game launched and I've never had such crashes, only the occasional infinite loading glitch that required manual restarting
Didn't think to take a screenshot sorry. Was crashing constantly for me at first but it just needed to be put in compatibility mode.
Just google secret world legends nipple glitch. There are examples in image search.
After some tries you should know, thanks to the garbage engine that needs 10 seconds to load a costume.
they are blue, aren't they?
Nope. Realistic ones.
Can I dress up as a wizard and cast spells and shit?
Yes
it's funny the payment option for classic doesn't work so I can't even give them money for quests
I genuinely don't know what this is
A game that feels like the kind of mmo you'd make if you had money and didn't care about profits
at least we got a good game dungeon out of it
which one? I don't think I saw a bad dungeon but I don't think I got to all of them.
...the one on the secret world
ebin
>also got filtered by Egypt
kek
Transylvania has the best dungeons tho?
>(after she turns 18)
What are you? Some kind of commiefornian?
I'd rather wait for her to learn to control her neighbourhood deletion power before doing the naked cuddles
Every day it's the same thing. drink shoot write write shoot drink. like a hamster on a wheel.
Honestly people are so starved for a new MMO Funcom should just relaunch classic.
Everything was perfectly in order for me. In Legends, I didn't try Classic.
>Worse gameplay
>watching video on Legends
>your weapons don't work together most of the time
>they actively work against you with 2 sets of resource mini games
I liked TSW combat more but that's a bit of an exaggeration. some of the weapon abilities are straight trash (frick shotguns) but most of them work together fine, especially if you do the reasonable thing and pick one ranged/one melee.
which weapons are the most FUN
Chaos
I forgot how much the NPCs talked, whew.
First timers should always try to talk to the NPCs as much as possible. Some of the dialogues outside of cutscenes are brilliant.
Damn. I've been only playing for a couple of hours, but I'm already hooked on the atmosphere. The fact that I can't get anymore MoF after finishing daily challenges really bugs me.
yeah the game was always israelited but SWL took it to the next level.
But at least i can get it with MoF, I think in classic every decent shirt was item shop only.
>secret world thread hits the bump limit
>in the year of our Lord 2023
luv u bros. Here's hoping something good happens to the IP eventually. See you, Chuck...
I used to have a notebook full of notes I would take during the investigation quest, was pretty fun
