i thought the overall plot of detective pikachu was a bit simple even though the writing itself was pretty good
what the movie did very well was everything else. the world building especially. but even the battles and attack moves looked amazing
i dont know what they have planned next but theres some great future movie potential. they dont even need to continue from where detective pikachu left off, they can just do similar one-off stories all based in the same world they created, with different characters
The entire movie was ruined for me when they revealed a white guy as the father. I was so confused at what was happening in the final scene where they reunite. Like why is deadpool hugging this black kid. It took me out of any immersion it had and ended with a "oh come the frick on, really?"
I assume that normalgays were confused as hell as to why there was a movie about Pikachu as a detective. They still associate Pokemon with Ash and Kanto stuff.
I rewatch it every couple of years. Stories like this would be cool for possible sequels with no overarching plot (yknow kinda like the games do with Regions).
Also it was cool my boy Torterra got some love even if it was just a 2 minute mountain moving cameo.
The worst product of the entertainment industry is also a pokemon adaptation that the fanbase has allowed to go on for 20+ years, and you get mad at detpika?

I don't understand how there was ever any talk of a Detective Pikachu 2 when the movie shuts down any potential of a sequel.
>shuts down any potential of a sequel
no such thing. life goes on. theres always another story to tell
but because it ended with no loose ends i thought it would be a lot cooler if they just did one-offs with different characters
What? I thought it was actually coming out this year lol
Didn't the black guy in this film turn out to be a crossdressing turbo-homosexual IRL?
>Didn't the black guy in this film turn out to be a black guy
Yes..?

>black guy
no thank you, and i'm sure a lot of others felt the same

it was forgotten after the first week it released

Good
Did it flop in China due to black lead? Curious.
Each Hollywood film removes them form Chinese posters, like with NuStar Wars.
Yea only in America is a black lead not seen as commercial suicide. Even though it results in commercial suicide
>black panther

Good
Anything that muds up the original story deserves failure and to be forgotten

Do you think there was anyone like this during the parade when everyone was getting transformed into their pokemon?
