Oh well at least nintendo finally confirmed with this game they have nothing and fromsoft has basically replaced them. They dont even care about making a good zelda anymore, theyd rather make some bad minecraft clone instead
Oh look its fatman nintendo fanboy harman smith trying and failing to popularize a cringe meme
Let me know when nintendo gets back to making a good zelda game again instead of whatever the frick this shit for toddlers is (and they dont even play it anyway, only 35+ yo loser men in diapers)
Once again I'm reminded that fromsoft fans are just disgruntled Zelda fans mad that they didn't keep making le edgy and dark twilight princess aesthetics.
It was better than this trash that is for sure. This isnt even a game, its a toybox walking sim with survival mechanics. I might as well play some dogshit like rust or palworld for all the difference it makes
>Edgy and dark >Twilight princess aesthetics
(you) Twilight Princess isn't remotely dark, oh no Zelda dies as a random point of drama in the plot. I can't believe midwit zoomers like you think TP was at all "Edgy or dark"
TP has a slow start and I felt that hyrule field was a bit under utilized, but overall TP was a great game.

I can appreciate a slow start. The pacing after the beginning is great. It's better than botw or totk imo. And yes I did beat botw. I thought it was pretty boring. The dungeons are too easy and the bosses are too wasy and reskins of monsters and bosses and the weapons didn't change too much of the combat. I liked the exploration at times because I learned how to do jumps with bombs n sheeeit which made the pacing better.
LMFAOO TotK will still be one of the most acclaimed and successful games OF ALL TIME when you wake up tomorrow. Make sure you cry about it again on Ganker XDD
Lol cope, it didn't win GOTY and never will; you know why? Because it didn't deserve it. TOTK was worse than BOTW, so much tedium and so little dopamine payoff for the monotony

I paid 0 dollars for TOTK and I still couldn't bring myself to beat it. The game became so boring after 20 hours. I don't care for legos in Zelda because I am not an autistic manchild
Just because the game is "good" doesn't mean it leaves enough topic to talk about. Just letting you know. Its literally the same game as botw which has been talked about enough.
Only if the at least 8 million of the 10 million Xbox players were also paying customers (to pair with the 15 million paying Steam customers). I doubt it was that high.
How is it moving goalposts? You are talking about sales. I am pointing out that Palworld did not sell 25 million. It has 25 million players, but we know not all of them were sales due to Gamepass.
Black person palworld is barely even a month old and sold as much.
Anonymous
You can extrapolate that it will outsell TotK, but that doesn't change that as of right now, you cannot point to any official source that said it did. Again, we know it sold 15 million on steam. For it to outsell TotK, 8 million of the 10 million players on Xbox needed to have bought the game as opposed to playing it on gamepass. Do you think that is likely the case? I'm not talking about the future, I am talking about right now. It wouldn't surprise me if it outsells TotK (especially at the lower price point) eventually.
>have to appropriate other games' accomplishments to make TotK look better
it's funny that even you fanboys are admitting that they're basically the same fricking game though
I dropped it at the first temple. The game doesnt manage to hold your attention, you see all the game has to offer in 20 hours and the plot like most zelda games is nonexistent. Normally that isnt an issue but when your game is this boring and devoid of goals and structure then there is no incentive to continue
I think TotK taken in isolation is better on aggregate, but in the context of it being a sequel to BotW, TotK did less than BotW did. Number 1 thing being that exploration felt fresh in BotW and TotK didn't change enough to keep that freshness.
I love how Gankertrannies now admit BotW is a bona-fide masterpiece after seething about it for 7 years, just so they can have a game to compete with TotK.
Its been a long observed trend on Ganker where once the new Zelda game comes out, the previous one that was previously bad, is now a masterpiece and the NEW zelda is shit.
well, I still dislike tp andss, still like botw, and dislike totk.
what does that make me?

Your viewpoint makes sense. BOTW did have that novelty of being the first to really try being open world, whereas TOTK just rehashes too much, and what they do bring to the table is poorly thought out.
Not saying it's a masterpiece. Just that totk is more disjointed in it's design. Mechanics like climbing and stamina are at odds with ultra hand and flying. Botw by nature of having less was more coherent.
Your saying that as if thats not intended. Everyone climbed the frick out of Hyrule in BOTW. No one wanted to do that again, ascend and the flying options help give the player more options in traversal and keeps the sequel with a copied map fresh

I would have loved TotK if it released in 2019/2020 and cost $40.
for a game that took S I X years to make (longer than BotW) and was released for $70 is inexcusable. I pirated it anyways but if I bought it I would have felt ripped off. I wanted BotW's systems in a brand new land to explore, everything Tears of the Kingdom added felt so minor when it was in service of exploring a land I had already thoroughly scoured half a decade previously

Thats the thing, they copied BOTW's map, they couldve taken those SIX years to fill out the map with actual shit to do, not shrines, not bring me 10 asscrickets quests, not a billion korok seeds with no reward. Actually add SOMETHING to the overworld. Instead they made the depths which is laughably more empty than the OW, and the sky islands though aesthetically are very pretty, they are way too few and your doing the same crystal quest on them all. Shameful.

This is fricking laughable gibberish. TotK has more unique content than any game you can mention. Even if you ignored all the huge sidequests, mini dungeons, cave systems, sky islands, depths, boss battles and endless adventures, if you only did the main quests - which are better than anything the Zelda series has done to date - you would still have a 50-60 hour adventure in the best open world game ever coded.

>Your shit opinion means nothing
It's not an opinion. The majority of locations in the game can be reached by falling off of a nearby sky island, and most of the other places can be reached by making a flying machine as simple as a hoverbike. Do you debate this fact?
who the frick would care about the lore given how the previous game was so fricking boring?
this is like making a youtube channel on rugrats lore or something
In past games thats simply not true though, Nintendo was playing with the timeline split as early as the WW TP era. WW was a direct sequel to OOT when adult link was sent back the game directly references it, and TP was the child era where Ganons executed. Nintendo themselves were worried about the lore and were connecting things, but it seems increasingly clear that in the BOTW era, they just dont care anymore. Shame.
Yeah unironically miss when the King of Hyrule was just a white dude, not in some /misc/ needs more white people way, but I just enjoyed when the Hylians and people ruling Hyrule are portrayed as humans, leaving the fantasy races to the other factions.
Let's not forget that many people buy a game and don't play it (aka, let it rot in the library)
If they only count the people who actually launched the game, the number of sales on Steam is much, much higher.
I really enjoyed Hyrule Warriors so I was excited when I saw it, but from gameplay ive seen it plays pretty differently from HW and I kinda lost interest. If I enjoyed HW is it pretty likely I will enjoy this?
media literacy is dead, engagement with stories is an attempt to one-up the "normies" and "fake fans" so morons just memorize inane trivia factoids they picked up from wiki articles documenting the fake history of a franchise
I just think it's crazy that people will praise a game for having loads of flavor text in tiny areas but then completely ignore the fact that the main presented narrative is just moronic
It's a general complaint about games these days. I've heard people praise some of the Xenoblade games and a lot of fromsoft games for "muh lore" but the narrative presented in the games is just dumb shit. Totks narrative being presented in the disjointed flashbacks is probably one of the worst I've seen in a long time
I find it damning that even nintendogay/zeldagay internet-celebs have in large part admitted that the "glorified DLC" complainers actually had a point, to a degree at least. Some of them even were dissapointed with the game.
>Pre-release: So much speculation on the Zonai >In-game: Furries from heaven founded kingdom and have potential-unleashing stones. No, there is no further explanation or elaboration. Also, even though they were described as a tribe, there were only 2 ever in Hyrule.
Normally they would have made an entirely new Zelda game (with a new map and everything) in 6 years. For them to charge over-normal price for a mostly unchanged map and in large part asset-flip was outrageous. It wasn't even worth the normal $60 much less over that.
It's fine, I played it for 200+ hours, but I will replay BOTW on Master Mode the next time I get a Zelda itch (which is probably next year), it's a leaner game and better off for it. Imagine restarting TOTK from scratch and farming all the battery upgrades before you can really do ANYTHING AT ALL with the new mechanics. Yeah, I'm not doing all that grind all over again.
Waiting for Dragon's Dogma 2 and the Elden Ring DLC now.
it's weird how despite TotK having "more stuff" BotW feels like a more cohesive experience. i similarly will go back to BotW when I want to play this iteration of Zelda, I don't think I'll ever touch TotK again.
>I will replay BOTW on Master Mode
No mastermode or any kind of survival mode for these games are criminal.
I honestly find BOTW/TOTK funnest in the early game, when you dont have a lot of stamina traversing the world is a challenge, just traversing a river will require you to cook up a solution (assuming its totk and you dont have cryonis). Fighting battles actually takes planning and thought because you dont have 20 hearts yet.
Look up the intended watch order of the geoglyphs because it is very easy to spoil the '''''''''''''story''''''''''''' for yourself by watching them in the wrong order.
>brainlets can't handle a story that isn't told in sequential order
Does Pulp Fiction make your brain melt? I saw the glyph where Ganondorf summoned the molduga, said he planned to infiltrate Hyrule, and then I saw the one where he became the Demon King, I was excited trying to fill in the blanks and figure out what happened.
Spoiler culture is moronic and boils down stories to just their bullet points plot beats to be recounted on wikipedia.
Pulp Fiction was purposefully written. Don't act like Nintendo intended on people get consume the story out of order rather than watch it sequentially. The fact that you think Nintendo even gave a shit enough about the story for a non-sequential experience to be well-crafted is asinine.
>if they didn't expect
They didn't expect anything. They didn't give a shit about the story. They didn't care if you got a shit experience. Even the mandatory experience was shitty.

I thought the non-linear aspect of the story enhanced the open-ended nature of the games, that allows the player to engage with it in their own pace and in a manner of their choosing rather than just endless exposition dumping through text boxes and bad cutscenes in something like Twilight Princess which sucks SHIT

Not that anon, but storytelling isn't a dichotomy of exposition dump and non-linear. You can make a good linear story (as well as a good non-linear story) rather than whatever the hell trainwreck TotK's story was. TotK's story was bad were it linear or not.

I don't know why people would expect a great narrative from a sandbox game where you can do anything in any order. If anything, the story should've been even more minimal, hearing that shit about the imprisoning war 5 fricking times really got on my nerves.
Anonymous
>I don't know why people would expect a great narrative from a sandbox game where you can do anything in any order.
Because a) you can do a better narrative even with that amount of openness, if you insist on being that open. b) maybe they should actually recognized that some amount of closedness or restriction can actually be healthy for the experience. Not even just in terms of the story, but in other facets of the game too, like the dungeon design.
>Look up the intended watch order of the geoglyphs
It's literally on the wall in the Forgotten Temple that Impa takes you to and she says that's the order moron, and somehow 99% players still watched them randomly, spoiling the dragon twist. Boggles the mind.
>It's literally on the wall in the Forgotten Temple that Impa takes you to and she says that's the order moron
The issue, you unimaginative moron, is that due to the freedom this game allows, many players will not follow that questline to see the Forgotten Temple before they randomly encounter geoglyphs on their own exploration. And even if they do, they might not keep track of the order to reference for later.
>Nor why Ganondorf, apparently a non-divine human, had that amount of power in him.
Skyward Sword is the ONLY game that remains 100%, irrefutably canon to the BotW series and that game established that Ganondorf is an incarnation of Demon King Demise's hatred.
Demise gets reincarnated in many forms, Ganondorf is just one of them. Why is he here in ToTK though? Demise Reincarnated as him in OOT. This game is set thousands of years in the future, its just Ganondorf again.
>Skyward Sword is the ONLY game that remains 100%, irrefutably canon to the BotW series
I'm pretty sure TotK contradicts Skyward Sword now as well. It didn't BotW, but it does TotK
I wasn't clear. I meant that Skyward Sword was compatible with BotW, but it isn't with TotK. I agree that BotW is so badly made on a character and lore front that it doesn't even fit with its own prequel, much less Skyward Sword.
Ganondorf is a super rare male Gerudo (which are born only once every 100 years or so), hence him being special.
Secret stones are just how they're called in Japanese literally = 秘石. Could've changed them to sacred stones or w/e, but then weebs would be mad about muh localization soooo
>hence him being special.
But why is he so special that he's stronger than Rauru? >Secret stones are just how they're called in Japanese literally = 秘石
I don't have an issue with them translating that as secret stone. My question is why are they called that? How are they secret? It's not like you can find them in the wild somewhere. Rauru had the them all. And they were publicly displayed at all times.
The name is so bad that I feel insulted for even watching the cutscenes. oot should be the bare minimum for zelda writing and when it does not reach that I can't take anything in the game seriously
If the new and improved Champion's Tunic (called Champion's Leathers) was supposed to be a surprise present from Zelda, then how come Link is seen wearing it during the prologue section instead of his old BOTW tunic? It then gets disintegrated by Zombie Ganon, and you find a new one at Hyrule Castle, which looks identical (so how is it a surprise present)?
I'm fine with experiencing stories in an non-linear way. The problem is that both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom didn't have good stories even if they were told straight, the few good parts all take place in the past, and the non-linear manner you engage with them (particularly in the latter game) detracts from the plot rather than enhances it.
Fun fact, the Zonai script is based on the Chinese seal script (an old way of writing Chinese characters). E.g. Ganon's rune of Darkness in pic related is just 闇 (dark), you can see the seal script version on this page.
https://www.dong-chinese.com/dictionary/%E9%97%87
Because it was originally meant to be an expansion pack for BOTW but then it grew big and they figured hey it's a direct sequel, how else would we handle the map? Make Link and Zelda frick off to another continent just cause? Doesn't make sense, so the map is largely the same, although it has a fair amount of changes IMO.
>Make Link and Zelda frick off to another continent just cause
Sure. They could have done that, for literally any reason they can come up with, since it is their game.

>Why does your favorite game have a shitter meta score and no awards.
Because game journos love movieshit like Uncharted and God of Soi. Wow, what a shock they'd hate a real video game.
Is every Zelda game going to need to have the building mechanics now? Was TotK a Pandora's Box for that, making them afraid to cut back on that feature going forward?
I meant the vehicle crafting type of building, not the tall structures type of building. You are certainly right that Ubisoft towers are going to stay.
So how did Rauru and Sonia dedraconify Zelda? They just could, even they didn't know how while alive, just for the plot? Their Zonai compatriots couldn't do that for the other dragons?
Nintendo is afraid of taking risks, which is why TOTK, for all its claims about being innovative and fresh, will NEVER stray from the tired and boring cliche of a princess being rescued and never having any stakes.
Like the proof that he's actually a good king...He made the fish dance for him, made everyone pay tax, use magic to subjugate and dominate, frick a hylian women ,( Bestiality), how is he good?
>The story would have been better without the demonic looking zonai
I agree. Them being a different species barely does anything for the plo- >they are horrifying and it's insane to imagine them rulling over hylians.
...That's your issue? That you'd think people would be too scared of the king? Who apparently was kind and provided QoL advancements?
So where was the light dragon before TotK? And where did the sky islands come from? There didn't seem to be any in the past since they were on the ground level.
TOTK's prologue starts a new timeline due to Zelda being sucked into the past, that's the twist. I've no idea why so many people are struggling with this concept.
>TOTK's prologue starts a new timeline due to Zelda being sucked into the past
But it doesn't, because in BotW's history, the Imprisoning War still happened, and therefore Zelda's timetravelling was already a thing.
You are aware that even if it made a new timeline, the Light Dragon should still exist during the events of the new timeline's BotW storyline, right? It wouldn't just pop into existence as soon as Zelda leaves the present.
Time travel as a narrative device is always fricky, but the writers intention was basically: >we're in timeline A >I go back in time and frick your mom >now we're in timeline B and you have a brother
The brother has always been there in timeline B, but from the audience's POV he just "popped into existence"
>The brother has always been there in timeline B, but from the audience's POV he just "popped into existence"
But the characters in game act like the Light Dragon is new.
1) She just flies very high, so they weren't aware of her existence.
2) Most people (not Link) have trouble seeing dragons at all. You can talk to a few NPCs researching dragons (IIRC there's one in Kakariko) and they act like the dragons are these mysterious beings that their father's brother's friend saw a glimpse of that one time, instead of, you know, these huge things orbiting Hyrule 24/7.

It's not meant to make 100% complete and perfect sense. Link wears Champion's Leathers during the prologue despite it being a surprise present from Zelda that you find much later in the game. The writers didn't account for everything, it's mostly the rule of cool.

Nothing in the game is cool. Nothing encourages me to play more through fun or engaging narrative or gameplay. The game is plain white bread. Even if it’s incredibly well made bread, it’s boring.
Open world games suck if there’s nothing to do. Most tasks can be solved with same build and for long travel/underground the hoverbike is the only thing worth making.
As far as sandbox goes if I wanted to frick around it would be in gmod or Minecraft, not Zelda.
Game doesn’t hold attention, 90% of the items are pulled from BotW (armor, weapons, consumables, enemies). They really phoned it in for this.
At least when they reused assets for MM, they still made a wholly new map
>At least when they reused assets for MM, they still made a wholly new map
Also it only released 1.5 years after OoT while feeling like a fresher experience than TotK did from BotW.
Sure it's a rehash, but if you wanted to replay BOTW but with new stuff added on top, TOTK does its job just fine. It's kind of like Fallout 3 and New Vegas, basically the same game but not really.
It's an open world game. That comes with the territory. That's why single-minded focus on making everything totally open without some curated, focused segments is no good.
This. The first ten minutes of BG3 is nothing but walking down a hallway and having an unskippable cutscene shoved in your face, inbetween bouts of exposition.

YEAR EIGHT
You stuck-up c**ts are constantly coming up with ways to make its loss "not count" or claim that "actually it's the other guys who are triggered".
You spent months arrogantly acting like the 2023 awards season would be a shoo-in for a TotK sweep, and are trying to pretend that that never happened when it didn't go your way.
You try (even now) to steal awards from Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Pikmin 4, and Breath of the Wild to claim them as accolades for Tears of the Kingdom to make up for the fact that TotK won only one out of its five nominations at the Game Awards.
You are starting dick-measuring contests against a fricking 2011 indie game and cherrypicking outlier outlets who did give GotY to TotK just for SOME kind of victory, and you dismiss the overwhelming awards victory given to Baldur's Gate 3 for reasons that (by your own logic) would disqualify the accolades given to BotW and TotK too.
You have no room to laugh at or accuse anyone else of "coping" or "melting down" anymore.

Oh yeah, can't forget the fun party trick of threads being found and abrubtly spammed to bump limit by the mass replying "erictroony ;)" schizo either when threads don't go to plan for TotKsisters.
Seriously why do I feel like it didn't do as expected? Even though it sold a lot.
I bet Elden Ring DLC will be talked about more than this.
elden ring was only 10% recycled assets
More like 40%
I finished it yesterday
Name 1 unique boss that wasn't in previous souls game
Pro tip you cannot
Youre right that it didnt sell as well as expected, thats why these nip israelites proceeded to sue yuzu to avoid losing face and blaming it on them
In reality
> streamers skipped it annoyed by nintendos anti streaming policies
> bg3 took most of its fake hype away
> gamers mostly saw the 10/10 reviews and saw it for what it was, tendie journo manchildren overhyping a dlc
Oh well at least nintendo finally confirmed with this game they have nothing and fromsoft has basically replaced them. They dont even care about making a good zelda anymore, theyd rather make some bad minecraft clone instead
It's more gmod than minecraft but yeah
>streamers
irrelevant
>streamers
The absolute state of nu/v/
Fromslop
As opposed to the 80% recycled slop from BotW in TotK?
Slop from
Oh look its fatman nintendo fanboy harman smith trying and failing to popularize a cringe meme
Let me know when nintendo gets back to making a good zelda game again instead of whatever the frick this shit for toddlers is (and they dont even play it anyway, only 35+ yo loser men in diapers)
Slop slop
Once again I'm reminded that fromsoft fans are just disgruntled Zelda fans mad that they didn't keep making le edgy and dark twilight princess aesthetics.
It was better than this trash that is for sure. This isnt even a game, its a toybox walking sim with survival mechanics. I might as well play some dogshit like rust or palworld for all the difference it makes
>disgruntled Zelda fans
not even. it's people larping as old Zelda gays
>Edgy and dark
>Twilight princess aesthetics
(you) Twilight Princess isn't remotely dark, oh no Zelda dies as a random point of drama in the plot. I can't believe midwit zoomers like you think TP was at all "Edgy or dark"
Twilight Princess is trying to be dark and edgy but fails because its sensibilities are that of a Shadow the Hedgehog fan
Wind Waker, ironically, is one of the darker Zelda games despite its cartoonish aesthetics
Do you know how to talk without memes?
Frick, TP was peak Zelda IMO and yes I do love From games, frick you tendie for shitting on things I like
TP has a slow start and I felt that hyrule field was a bit under utilized, but overall TP was a great game.
OP stop talking to yourself
>makes the same thread every hour
Completely mindbroken.
96 metacritic rating
22 million sold and counting
Feels good.
Harman fatboy smith nobody cares about these paid reviews except for you
It lost to BG3. Your game flopped. Get over it
>Your game flopped
LMFAOO TotK will still be one of the most acclaimed and successful games OF ALL TIME when you wake up tomorrow. Make sure you cry about it again on Ganker XDD
>m
go back
not as acclaimed as Baldur's Gate 3 tho.
An AA game btw
Still pales to BOTW's acclaim. Oh well.
Lol cope, it didn't win GOTY and never will; you know why? Because it didn't deserve it. TOTK was worse than BOTW, so much tedium and so little dopamine payoff for the monotony
>have to appropriate other games' accomplishments to make TotK look better
it's funny that even you fanboys are admitting that they're basically the same fricking game though
>>have to appropriate other games' accomplishments
Says the gay bringing up BG3 after his dogshit 2d indietrash zero awards Terraria got laughed out the door
XDD
>zero awards
OH NO NO NO
...you're still trying to use BotW's victory for TotK, though. Dumbass.
>still trying to use BotW's victory for TotK
Both two of the most acclaimed and successful games of all time. Crying about it on Ganker isn't going to change reality for you. Sorry.
Also two of my personal favorite games ever. Die mad here on this hentai pedo board.
>constantly having to spin shit to give TotK the win
now THAT sounds pretty mad to me anon
He says, seething in TotK threads every day.
Not him, but doesn't that list have Starfield as number 7?
Poor Arthur here didn't actually ready the Eurogamer list. He considers it legitimate because, and I quote, "they don't like that gay bear shit 3 game" even though BG3 is number 2 on the list.
>Eurogamer
was Aonuma in the audience for Eurogamer's awards? No? Then their voice means nothing. He was, however, in the audience for the awards ceremony that everyone pays attention to, where TotK got humiliated and made him seethe for all to see. He really thought he was untouchably hot shit for making a full-priced expansion.
Imagine being so mindbroken by the masterpiece TotK that you have to convince yourself a better game exists somewhere just so you can cope.
Stay mad in TotK threads lmao
>you have to convince yourself a better game exists somewhere
99.
Yes I loved OoT when I played it.
And it still holds up now. TotK loses its luster before it's even over the first time around.
>Both two of the most acclaimed and successful games of all time.
Meanwhile, back in reality.
lol Game journos don't count! HONEST! oh wait is this game journos praising my series I ravenously fanboy for? HECKING YASSSS SLAY QUEEN
I paid 0 dollars for TOTK and I still couldn't bring myself to beat it. The game became so boring after 20 hours. I don't care for legos in Zelda because I am not an autistic manchild
>Your game flopped. Get over it
>22M sold in 6 months
>flop
Its like the word lost the whole meaning.
Lost to Hogwarts Legacy
>96 metacritic rating
But no GOTY, KEK.
>goy awards
>GOTY suddenly doesn't matter to the tendie
Just because the game is "good" doesn't mean it leaves enough topic to talk about. Just letting you know. Its literally the same game as botw which has been talked about enough.
>22 million sold and counting
*Outsold by Hogwarts Legacy
Outsold by Palworld
Only if the at least 8 million of the 10 million Xbox players were also paying customers (to pair with the 15 million paying Steam customers). I doubt it was that high.
How is it moving goalposts? You are talking about sales. I am pointing out that Palworld did not sell 25 million. It has 25 million players, but we know not all of them were sales due to Gamepass.
Black person palworld is barely even a month old and sold as much.
It wouldn't surprise me if it outsells TotK (especially at the lower price point) eventually.
legend of zelda lost
LOL
see
oh no no no Zeldabros, Lariansisters... did we get too wienery?!
>he has to make up fake scores and awards to cope.
>too lazy to look up the statistics
Not gonna spoonfeed you, bro.
I've talked to a lot of people about this game and 100% of them never finished it, it's just a boring game that should've been a free update for Botw.
I dropped it at the first temple. The game doesnt manage to hold your attention, you see all the game has to offer in 20 hours and the plot like most zelda games is nonexistent. Normally that isnt an issue but when your game is this boring and devoid of goals and structure then there is no incentive to continue
You keep making multiple threads a day
Dont worry anon we are going to play it again in the New Super Nintendo Switch U Oled
>Ganondorf's whole gimmick is that he is the only male Gerudo in 100 years
>make him a girl
I hate secondaries.
Discordsister we're currently busy flooding the board with yuzu threads so don't expect much activity from us itt
BOTW better
Totk had better shrines I think, but botw got the exploration aspect right. Totk ruined itself by including flying.
I think TotK taken in isolation is better on aggregate, but in the context of it being a sequel to BotW, TotK did less than BotW did. Number 1 thing being that exploration felt fresh in BotW and TotK didn't change enough to keep that freshness.
Botw had a more unified and coherent design philosophy and aesthetics.
I don't disagree.
I love how Gankertrannies now admit BotW is a bona-fide masterpiece after seething about it for 7 years, just so they can have a game to compete with TotK.
Hee-Larious.
Okay but consider this
Make a different map in the first place
Hey man no argument here, but regardless thats the direction Nintendo went with and thats what we got.
Shameful.
I would have wanted it to be exploring ancient Hyrule, where present day biomes might be very different. 10,000 years is enough for deserts to be jungles and frigid mountains to be temperate
I see you keep trying with bait like this ITT. Its clearly not working. stop.
>Its clearly not working. stop.
He says, still seething about one of the most acclaimed and successful games of all time on Ganker a year later.
How's that working out for you?
TotK is entirely designed around verticality.
BotW is about "whoa I can anywhere!"
TotK is about "OK, I want to get over there but how do I get there?"
Both games are incredible and utterly peerless. There's nothing to compete with them on any other system.
Being able to jump from a sky island down to the depths is pretty impressive and kino.
Not really. All three maps are so thoroughly disconnected from each other to hide loading and it's not uncommon for the game to just freeze when diving into a chasm because the game still needs to load
plus the skies and depths fricking suck and there's no good content in either of them
>TotK is about "OK, I want to get over there but how do I get there?"
Just fall on it from an island...?
Bro? Your hoverbike?
That too. Point is, "how do I get over there" is rarely a question or challenge.
Your shit opinion means nothing, don't know what to say. Cry more about this masterpiece on Ganker perhaps?
>Your shit opinion means nothing
It's not an opinion. The majority of locations in the game can be reached by falling off of a nearby sky island, and most of the other places can be reached by making a flying machine as simple as a hoverbike. Do you debate this fact?
When did he ever say it was a masterpiece? He just said it did something better than TotK. Learn to read.
>Ganker is one person.
I really enjoyed BOTW's post apocalyptic feel. Now that the apocalypse passed and the new problem is the upheavel, its a different tone. I miss it.
ToTK should've been all underground and fleshed out
This game singlehandedly killed any interest I have for the lore in this series.
who the frick would care about the lore given how the previous game was so fricking boring?
this is like making a youtube channel on rugrats lore or something
Zelda lore has been long discussed in its fanbase and for good reason. If you dont like it, dont bother with it.
This is how ive felt since release, this video just succinctly explains my feelings and saves me from writing paragraphs no ones gonna read.
>and for good reason
what reason exactly? because it's literally all speculation and nintendo themselves never cared about it
In past games thats simply not true though, Nintendo was playing with the timeline split as early as the WW TP era. WW was a direct sequel to OOT when adult link was sent back the game directly references it, and TP was the child era where Ganons executed. Nintendo themselves were worried about the lore and were connecting things, but it seems increasingly clear that in the BOTW era, they just dont care anymore. Shame.
>saves me from writing paragraphs no ones gonna read.
well I'll not watch your boyfriend either
oh how cute. anon gets his opinions from youtubers
Yeah I stopped caring about the lore when I found out Zelda’s ancestors were a brown woman and a space lemur.
Yeah unironically miss when the King of Hyrule was just a white dude, not in some /misc/ needs more white people way, but I just enjoyed when the Hylians and people ruling Hyrule are portrayed as humans, leaving the fantasy races to the other factions.
I still don't understand why they casted Zelda as a fake-brit when even her father didn't have that accent.
ToTK made BoTW obsolete
How do I find the last 5 caves in the game? Kotlin offers no more hints (at any of his locations).
Do I just fly around the whole map on a hoverbike with the bubbul frog sensor on?
You posted the pic as to how
You Black folk killed emulation just to play bloated DLC turned into a whole game a couple days early.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
you posted the wrong pic, anon.
>Posting a game that sold more than TOTK
Weird flex but okay.
anon it sold 15 million and not 20
25*
Tbf anon, they said 25 million PLAYERS. 15 steam buyers, and 10 Xbox players (who knows how many of those didn't pay for the game)
Let's not forget that many people buy a game and don't play it (aka, let it rot in the library)
If they only count the people who actually launched the game, the number of sales on Steam is much, much higher.
what do we think of AoC?
I really enjoyed Hyrule Warriors so I was excited when I saw it, but from gameplay ive seen it plays pretty differently from HW and I kinda lost interest. If I enjoyed HW is it pretty likely I will enjoy this?
Musou games are the worst
>doesnt elaborate
holy gigabased
but honestly frick you. samurai warriors 2 is one of the greatest games of all time.
I like getting to see the Champions, but it is hard to get invested when it both takes place in the past and isn't even canonical.
>isn't even canonical.
IIRC this game weirdly enough, IS canon right?
It's not canon in the ways that matter. It's as canon as Hyrule Warriors being canon.
>make a game
>say nothing that happens in it matters
For what purpose?
But enough about links awakening
HW was awesome because it was multi-game fanservice. AoC was shit because it was single-game "latest product" promotion.
Why the FRICK do zoomers care so much about lore? Is this a product of Wikipedia articles and video essays?
media literacy is dead, engagement with stories is an attempt to one-up the "normies" and "fake fans" so morons just memorize inane trivia factoids they picked up from wiki articles documenting the fake history of a franchise
I just think it's crazy that people will praise a game for having loads of flavor text in tiny areas but then completely ignore the fact that the main presented narrative is just moronic
Yeah no one does this for ToTK. Why are you making up scenarios in your head and getting mad about it?
It's a general complaint about games these days. I've heard people praise some of the Xenoblade games and a lot of fromsoft games for "muh lore" but the narrative presented in the games is just dumb shit. Totks narrative being presented in the disjointed flashbacks is probably one of the worst I've seen in a long time
I think BotW/TotK's actual story is pretty good and that it makes lorehomosexuals angry makes me like it even more
I find it damning that even nintendogay/zeldagay internet-celebs have in large part admitted that the "glorified DLC" complainers actually had a point, to a degree at least. Some of them even were dissapointed with the game.
>7 year old game
>nobody talks about it
I wonder why
Yeah but how many players are in the game right now? Tendies made this metric REALLY important!
>Tendies care a lot about player numbers.
>Nintendo does not provide player numbers themselves.
KEK
Its incredible how her simple video pissed so many black people off.
>Pre-release: So much speculation on the Zonai
>In-game: Furries from heaven founded kingdom and have potential-unleashing stones.
Fighting battles actually takes planning and thought because you dont have 20 hearts yet.
i just started playing it. tips?
The fact that you think Nintendo even gave a shit enough about the story for a non-sequential experience to be well-crafted is asinine.
if they didn't expect for people to do them out of order they wouldn't have made it possible to engage with them out of order
>if they didn't expect
They didn't expect anything. They didn't give a shit about the story. They didn't care if you got a shit experience. Even the mandatory experience was shitty.
t. seething timelinegay
>secret stone?
>demon king?
Its the same guy baiting throughout this thread trying to half heartedly defend totk. Dont feed him.
I have tons of criticisms of TotK, these are my posts fyi
I just don't think the story being told in a nonlinear fashion is a problem. I enjoyed uncovering the mystery and piecing it together myself rather than just linear expository bullshit like the dogshit TP and SS
(NTA) So you just hate normal beginning-to-end stories and like jumbled garbage so that you can play fill-in-the-blank. I get it.
I thought the non-linear aspect of the story enhanced the open-ended nature of the games, that allows the player to engage with it in their own pace and in a manner of their choosing rather than just endless exposition dumping through text boxes and bad cutscenes in something like Twilight Princess which sucks SHIT
>that allows the player to engage with it in their own pace and in a manner of their choosing
How is it in a manner of their choosing if most people were falling into random parts of the story? Like, you could get immediately spoiled that Zelda is going to be a dragon on your first geoglyph.
>Twilight Princess hater likes TotK's shitty storytelling
Ah, now it makes sense.
Twilight Princess is fricking dogshit and you only like it because it was your first Zelda game, zoomer
You're talking about zoomers when dicksucking TotK of all Zelda games? Lmao
>nuanced criticism that discusses what I liked and didn't like about TotK means I'm dicksucking it
I'm sorry your only engagement with the world is through us vs them like it's sports teams. Also yes Twilight Princess is still irredeemable garbage, the one-two punch of TP and SS convinced me that I didn't even like Zelda anymore and I had zero interest in BotW until it actually came out and seemed like it was made as an apology for those moviegames
>I'm sorry your only engagement with the world is through us vs them like it's sports teams.
Holy irony
Even the people who like Breath of the Wild and the sequel normally agree that the story is the weakest point of those games. And Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword both were praised conversely for the story/character aspects that the last two games lacked.
the problem is that zelda fans think Aonuma moviegame bullshit that exposits at them endlessly through text boxes is what STORY means
And even if they do, they might not keep track of the order to reference for later.
>another goddamn zelda seethe thread
(You)
I still don't get why it was called a secret stone. Nor why Ganondorf, apparently a non-divine human, had that amount of power in him.
>Demise gets reincarnated in many forms, Ganondorf is just one of them.
This is headcanon
>Why is he here in TotK though? Demise Reincarnated as him in OOT
No one cares, timelinegay, touch grass
>This is headcanon
No its not. Your the one talking lore too moron, and your getting it wrong. kys
I'm sorry you're desperate to think that Vaati is important because Minish Cap was your favorite game when you were 12
>Skyward Sword is the ONLY game that remains 100%, irrefutably canon to the BotW series
I'm pretty sure TotK contradicts Skyward Sword now as well. It didn't BotW, but it does TotK
>It didn't BotW
NPCs that link should have met before react as though they see him for the first time
where did sheekah technology go?
I wasn't clear. I meant that Skyward Sword was compatible with BotW, but it isn't with TotK. I agree that BotW is so badly made on a character and lore front that it doesn't even fit with its own prequel, much less Skyward Sword.
Sorry, I mean "TotK* was so badly made", if that wasn't clear by me referencing a prequel.
(You)
This is the famitsu guy right? It's the same thread and same replies every single day.
I'm fine with experiencing stories in an non-linear way. The problem is that both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom didn't have good stories even if they were told straight, the few good parts all take place in the past, and the non-linear manner you engage with them (particularly in the latter game) detracts from the plot rather than enhances it.
>caring about stories
KWAB
Fun fact, the Zonai script is based on the Chinese seal script (an old way of writing Chinese characters). E.g. Ganon's rune of Darkness in pic related is just 闇 (dark), you can see the seal script version on this page.

SOUL
It's an exploration game... Why did the reuse the map...
Loved botw have hundreds of hours in the game but I dropped totk in less than 10. No idea what the frick nintendo was thinking.
The problem is you not Nintendo.
Apparently not since everyone in this thread hates totk as well.
500 post thread with less than 50 ips talkin about the same shit. Botw sucks, just get over it.
Thank God for emulation. I would have wasted $70 on this fotmslop
thats bleak

Why does your favorite game have a shitter meta score and no awards.
Smells like a dogshit game to me. Stay mad in Zelda threads.

$70 DLC that took 6 years to develop and led to the death of a Switch emulator.
also killed a 3ds emulator that still needed more development lmao
Is every Zelda game going to need to have the building mechanics now? Was TotK a Pandora's Box for that, making them afraid to cut back on that feature going forward?
Every game will now have ubisoft towers
I meant the vehicle crafting type of building, not the tall structures type of building. You are certainly right that Ubisoft towers are going to stay.
It will be dropped. I am positive aunouma only did this shit for social media and because no competitor would dare copy it.
>forgotten
>still gets multiple threads seething about it daily

It infuriates me that all of the dead characters are more interesting than the living ones in both games (there are a few exceptions).
The story would have been better without the demonic looking zonai, they are horrifying and it's insane to imagine them rulling over hylians.
Like the proof that he's actually a good king...He made the fish dance for him, made everyone pay tax, use magic to subjugate and dominate, frick a hylian women ,( Bestiality), how is he good?
>The story would have been better without the demonic looking zonai
I agree. Them being a different species barely does anything for the plo-
>they are horrifying and it's insane to imagine them rulling over hylians.
...That's your issue? That you'd think people would be too scared of the king? Who apparently was kind and provided QoL advancements?
They have a hidden eye with gold eyelashes and scary fangs...
Yes, but I think people would get over that given everything else aside the appearance.
Still living rent free in gayot ops head it seems
how does this moron get away with spamming these threads and bumping it all day with samegayging
So where was the light dragon before TotK? And where did the sky islands come from? There didn't seem to be any in the past since they were on the ground level.
TOTK's prologue starts a new timeline due to Zelda being sucked into the past, that's the twist. I've no idea why so many people are struggling with this concept.
okay, so in this new timeline where do the islands come from?
>TOTK's prologue starts a new timeline due to Zelda being sucked into the past
But it doesn't, because in BotW's history, the Imprisoning War still happened, and therefore Zelda's timetravelling was already a thing.
You are aware that even if it made a new timeline, the Light Dragon should still exist during the events of the new timeline's BotW storyline, right? It wouldn't just pop into existence as soon as Zelda leaves the present.
Time travel as a narrative device is always fricky, but the writers intention was basically:
>we're in timeline A
>I go back in time and frick your mom
>now we're in timeline B and you have a brother
>She just flies very high, so they weren't aware of her existence.
Shouldn't the Sheikah have a record of her then since they had flying machines including Vah Medoh?
It's not meant to make 100% complete and perfect sense. Link wears Champion's Leathers during the prologue despite it being a surprise present from Zelda that you find much later in the game. The writers didn't account for everything, it's mostly the rule of cool.
>The writers didn't account for everything
Understatement of the year, but yeah.
Nothing in the game is cool. Nothing encourages me to play more through fun or engaging narrative or gameplay. The game is plain white bread. Even if it’s incredibly well made bread, it’s boring.
Im still playing a little on my lunch break every work day. Trying to do the last tower
botw was good for it's time. 7 years later botw romhack: nuts and bolts doesn't stand up
simple as
Open world games suck if there’s nothing to do.
Another day.
Another TotK schizo thread with troons seething about Nintendo's latest masterpiece.
The world feels lifeless and empty compared to BG3.
It's an open world game. That comes with the territory. That's why single-minded focus on making everything totally open without some curated, focused segments is no good.
Not even the same genre. Gameplay is BG3 is boring as frick compared to TotK.
This. The first ten minutes of BG3 is nothing but walking down a hallway and having an unskippable cutscene shoved in your face, inbetween bouts of exposition.
Thankfully TOTK is smart enough to avoid this.
Indeed.
BG3 opens with a 10 minute cutscene where you can put the joypad down and grab some popcorn. The tutorial lasts 40 hours and I'm not even joking.
>gets BTFO
>no response
Clockwork
>he missed the joke
What a fricking moron you are. Sarcasm is beyond you.
Still no response.
Relax bro. Just a translator bug.
Still no response. What a waste of EIGHT YEARS of your life.
Easy bro. You're seething beyond reason right now. Just calm down.
Still no response. Your cope tactics aren't working. You are in YEAR EIGHT of your Zelda meltdown.
I'm afraid to give you a response because you're not really ready for the answer. You're already on the verge of having a heart attack, so it'd be better to de-escalate.
Hopefully you get the help that you need.
Zelda lost.
Oh yeah, can't forget the fun party trick of threads being found and abrubtly spammed to bump limit by the mass replying "erictroony ;)" schizo either when threads don't go to plan for TotKsisters.
Game came out in 2023 what do you expect? It also was nowhere near as good as BOTW so it prob deserves that.
I already fricking finished what more do you want from me
well BotW inspired years of discussion and engagement, surely TotK can too!!!
nah
