Running most of the 360 back compat games with amped up performance is reason enough to have a series.

I replayed OG Dead Space when we started getting threads about the remake. It's so much better on series than PC and that's not even one of the games that ups the fps to 60. When emulation gets perfect I'll be happy, but if games are backwards compatible I'd rather play them on a series than emulate.

Dead Space will forever be on my 3x3, tastelet.

no. the j horror aesthetic feels hamfisted. the level design consisted of Escher esque hallways and offices. the enemy design and placement is fairly subpar. it's not even monolith's best game by any means. the core of it is good ill admit. but it's short of becoming a classic.

how is it slow when you have more maneuverability over RE4? RE5 you couldn't move and aim. You're thinking of RE6. I wouldn't consider DS1 or RE4 hard by any means. I think they're pretty substantially identical in terms of difficulty. But DS2 is substantially harder than RE4, and it's much better than RE5.

Dead Space's aesthetic isn't hamfisted. it clearly merges well with its inspirations. I'll admit it is generic, but adequately well done. While FEAR takes inspiration from J horror and John Woo-type films. I think a better approach for FEAR would have been to drop the J horror aesthetic and focus on a more 80s crime action thriller, much like those films themselves.

It's not enemies "jump" at you from every corner or crawl through events or whatever. It was just a better roster of enemies, that were faster and more aggressive, and responded more interestingly to feedback from being hit while offering a diverse palette of enemy types. The Peak of FEAR's enemy design was the replica dudes(not even the best AI at the time). alternative enemy types being a giant mech, security guys, drones, and ghosts. these groups BARELY were placed together and usually appeared as a single encounter verbatim for the rest of the game.

The frick does this have to do with reflexive contrarians when it was objectively compared to the things I've mentioned, AKA FEAR and RE4? It was another one of EA's takes on something that someone did before and it was judged as such.

Fun fact, the number one stopping factor of pirating videogames in today's day and age isn't the price or DRM, but the lack of good games. Most games are so shit today that aren't even worth pirating, let alone spending money on.

The thing is that exclusives have been going the way of the dino for like the past 15 years. Compare the PS1/2/3/4/5 total exclusives 2.5 years into their lifespan, the number has been steadily decreasing and has seen an extremely sharp decline from the PS3 to the 4 and 5. I bought a PS4 for several "exclusives," which included Bloodborne, Yakuza 0, P5, Nioh, and some others. The only one of those that didn't get a PC release was Bloodborne. Even Sony has realized that the meta is multiplat releases to maximize profits. So you can keep saying that PC has no exclusives because you don't like strategy games or whatever, but it will have like all those PS5 exclusives at some point, so if your only concern is playing games the moment they come out then I can see why you'd prefer console.
