I just turned 30 and constantly think about painting the wall with my brains. Outside of thatm I regularly play COD and Diablo but I needed a break so I'm emulating Flower, Sun, and Rain for the first time. So far it's been absolutely kino. I wish there was an english version of the PS2 game or something because the DS graphics absolutely blow. Not a huge deal though. Et tu?

Awful. Thought I'd finally found a career I'd enjoy then the company folded and now I'm on the search again. ADHD+tism here, picking up new skills and starting different routines again is fricking exhausting in your mid-30s. I'll start looking for work seriously again after I'm sick of BG3, AC6 and Starfield.

Therapy is expensive and not everyone has a supportive circle of family and friends, sometimes you just need to vent to anonymous zoomers larping as wizards on a Mongolian basket-weaving forum.

You mean like prison? I know prisons in Norway are exactly that. Must be nice to know that you hit rock bottom so you can only improve from there.

Prison isnt rock bottom in Norway. Homelessness is, the point where you are incapable of even saying one sentence to other people without aggravating them. That is a dirtful and humiliating life.

Turned 30 this year. It's been a pretty shitty year so far. GF of 4 years cheated on me and we broke things off. I was already drinking a lot but I became a full blown alcoholic and this year made me realize I have to quit because I got a DUI and I've been in and out of the ER 3 times already this year for seizures from alcohol withdrawals. Its undoubtedly why you feel the need to have her in your life. You need to do some thinking on how she improved you as a person if at all at the time. Did she make you a better man? Did she inspire you? Or was she just a container to blast into?

      >games they genuinely enjoy
That's where the difference is. I honestly don't think the younger generation feels love towards games like the older one does. Partially because they don't seem to form attachments at all because of the zeitgeist of cynicism/nihilism because of the impermanence of everything as a result of technology, but also partially because most games these days are straight up predatory and don't give a damn about their own appearance or whether the player actually likes them, just that people spend money on them.

        Anonymous

cynicism and nihilism are not active traits in youth. for someone to be cynical or nihilistic they have to actively voice that the thing doesnt matter or the thing is unimportant.

these people are treating every tiny inconsequential argument as world ending and humanity shaping. theyre attached but too afraid to show weakness in positivity. whether it be the grip of dailies, gacha, RPG grinding, hardcore status from difficult games or being autistically skilled they do for certain care- the value and strength of those attachments are glass knives though, extremely attractive and piercing but can shatter if a tiny doubt hits it

Where were you when Mortal Kombat 1 came out, Or Gta 1, Or Phantasy star online or frickin Smokey and the Bandit pinball haha or any other game that laid the ground for all the games youve played and enjoyed. We played those too. But cant forget what came before, cause we played those too

I played all that shit too, and you'd have to be batshit bonkets to think MK1 or GTA1 is better than their modern versions but older people will act like the modern versions killed billions and the old versions saved mankind from extinction.

Good thx, played around BG3 for an hour or two then went back to finish of a BG1 playthrough and continued directly unto BG2 which is my current addiction. Really forgot how wonderful the game is. Can't remember shit about the plot anyway because I was high for my first playthrough some years back so it's almost like playing it for the first time. I think the Pathfinder games really missed out on making combat impactful by centering everything on buff stacking and build modifier synergy on higher difficulties. In the BG games, combat feels much more like puzzles which can be solved in a variety of ways and that just never gets old, combined with limited trash encounter (in BG2 at least) and it just never gets old.

Nearly 32. Got a night job in a small up+coming business warehouse three years ago and it's unironically been the best decision I've ever made. I get paid to go to a glorified gym, I've never been in better shape and I've got actual muscle definition now. I'm forklift certified. It being night means I never experience the drudgery of rush hour traffic, and when I go into stores before/after my shift, all the goods are fresh from the back. I'm so good at my job that there's a real possibility of me hitting supervisor within the next 1-2 years because everybody around me is either a drug addict or a moron and the current supervisors can't stand any of them besides me.

Been playing Baldur's Gate 3, but also got a sudden need to replay a classic racing game like Racer Driver GRID or Burnout Revenge.

im 41 and i have mostly lost interest in video games. i really enjoyed genshin impact for a few years but its gotten old, and the pandering to gay-boy shit with less sexy female characters honestly just ruins the universe...i dont listen to paimon talk so that i can then talk to gay boys in lingerie

im going hiking a lot and learning to camp and backpack. it is my goal to do some long-distance trails in america, there are many trails that are hundreds of miles long and people regularly set out to thru-hike them in groups or solo, for bragging rights or adventure or what have you. for me, i just enjoy walking around a lot.

i wish i still enjoyed video games, but i have played them for over 35 years, and i kinda wish i played video games at the last 35 years of my life instead of near the first 35.

video games are simulation, if you can find the equivalent necessary activities you can enjoy i wouldnt worry about "missing" them.

there is no world in which you telling yourself that you wish you still liked videogames when you have another active interest makes sense so dont worry about it.

that's not true at all, i don't see activities as surrogates for each other, i was involved in amazing online communities for games that brought a lot to my life, and enjoyed playing them very much

when you really look at it though, the height of my experiences covers like a few 2 or 3 year periods, and then everything is so dull between those in comparison. i'm sure i will love some new game again, in 5 or 6 years.

ive seen a LOT of people on here who seem to just have no personality and parrot what others say. and they wonder why their lives are shit, girls dont want them, etc...you have to be a unique person or at least have the bravery to try. I think a lot of people who are into video games are losers. that is part of what is drawing me away from them. Like I love manga too- specifically manga way more than anime-- and people who are really into manga are LOSERS. it's hard to deal with

31 here. I've decided to get a dog to cope with the fact that I'll never be allowed to get married at 5'6" in a country where the average is 5'10". My only hope is to wait until I inherit some of my rich father's money to try and settle in with a gold-digger. Until then though I'm not complaining. I have been playing lots of boomer shooters lately, I never played many fps when I was young, I used to play stuff like Golden Eye 64 or Perfect Dark but now I'm obsessed with retro shooters, I bought Quake II and I'm currently playing DOOM II WADS and Quake 64, I have Dusk, Project Warlock and Ion Fury on the backlog, it's probably those kind of games I'd have been obsessed when I was a teenager but now it feels like I'm catching up, I have been playing racing games like Need for Speed, CTR, Hotshot Racing and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, bought SEGA Ages Virtua Racing for less than $1, I have a massive backlog of games but I don't know if I will be able to keep up, I'm back to wagecucking

    >Gonna buy soon

Thinking on getting the Kirby games, also Mario RPG and Wonder, it blows my mind that I'm gonna be playing RDR1, Gothic 1, Metal Gear games and Suikoden games on a Nintendo's handheld

Do you live in North Am*rica?
Boomers are holding job advancement hostage, there's mass shootings every week, and our politicians are getting bribed by gun companies.
There's literally no good way to advance right now unless you go into the one sector of content that hasn't been assraped by boomers, corporate homosexuals, or business execs.
Work a normal job. Good jobs with benefits literally don't exist right now.
While you're doing that, get into a creative hobby and publish stuff online. There's free software and tutorials for any creative hobby you could possibly want to do. Don't use patreon, there's a bunch of issues.

Unfortunately no. I'm an editor but I've always been hesitant to provide any proof on /wg/ before. And without providing proof, it doesn't feel right asking for money. If you want critiques on scenes or chapters though, you can post them in the thread or on the sekrit discord and I or others can review or proofread stuff.

It still baffles me that people had a problem with this change. Joel is a 52 year old man in the first game. And Tess is around his age. Might be younger, who knows. But even if she were 10 years younger, that would still make her 42 year old.

There's no way a 40 year old living a rough life should look like the left. Her face was always weirdly age inappropriate.

Because "all games feel like shit on antipsychotics", is not solved by changing games. He'll just feel numb while playing Mario 64. Not only due to the psychotics, but also because it's a 27 year old game. How much joy can you squeeze out of a 27 year old game? the sheer boredom and apathy he'll feel, will make him more depressed than he already is.

It does. But if you're not talking about sexual or romantic relations, very few people will care. You can be friends with 20 year olds just fine. I'm 31 and I'm in a group of friends who are all between 22-24. As long as you aren't trying to get close to them or doing anything outright creepy, no one will care.

30 is not too old for any of those things lol. And why would you give a frick even if someone thinks that?

I remember being 18-19~ and one of the hottest girls in my school (while very drunk) told a story about her getting her first orgasm while getting assfricked by a 40-something yo guy she met at a fancy club. I still fap to it sometimes. Age only gets to you if you let it.

      >too old for cons
m8 you do realize that most con goers are 30+ right? Conventions are expensive as frick, teenagers and college kids generally do not have the money to attend cons regularly. They might be able lucky enough to attend their regional cons if they’re lucky enough to live near a regional con, but that’s hardly the full con experience. For the record I live near where Otakon is held. It’s known as one of the top 10 biggest anime cons in the country. There are people, mostly cosplayers, that live in California, who have their own huge conventions like SDCC and AX, and these people fly across the country all the way to the east coast, book a hotel room, all just to attend Otakon. Honestly if you’re under 30 and attend cons, you are being financially irresponsible. You might just start off casually going to your regional cons, but eventually you’ll want to start doing 8 hour drives to other cons near your city. Then that leads to flying out to the bigger cons across the country. It’s really a hobby for older people who have cash to burn.

32 and I feel like I've reached the end of gaming as my main hobby. I just don't give a shit about the majority of the big games out now and trying BT3 was what basically sealed it. After Bomb Rush and Starfield, I really don't see any upswing happening in video games for me outside of casual stuff like Mario or something every now and then.

Otherwise life is fine. I made it to a job I thought I always wanted for years and turns out I don't like it as much as I thought and now I have to work later. That said, it's not all bad since it's small a pay increase and I get to help out the family more without having negative money in the bank left.

The big reason why I think this is it for me for games (at least this generation and moving forward) us because I've done the whole song and dance of "just play retro for a while" and "just take a break and come back" things and still do that. Only thing now is that doesnt work much for me anymore.

That said, I do still enjoy playing the older stuff casually so it's going to be a transition to retro and older games, but even still games aren't going to be my top hobby anymore. Probably just number 2 and mostly older stuff and some AAs nobody's heard of or cares to talk much about.

I'll be 31 at the end of the month. The age doesn't bother me; what does bother me is that the last couple years of my life were stolen by the pandemic and the response to it. It doesn't feel like I aged at all in that time, so I'm still in my late 20s in my mind.
But life is generally okay. I'm not accomplishing as much as I'd like, but I've made small changes for the better. I'm currently playing Elden Ring for the first time since last April, and I've got a solo fist monk with dragon communion incants going alongside a cleric I'm playing in seamless coop with a friend. It's been a lot of fun, and I think I have over 30 hours in the past two weeks. When this game is good, it's really good. It grabbed me really hard that first month or so after release, too.

35 here. Just finished We Love Katamari Reroll, though I still have two achievement left to get. My skills at that game are not what they used to be back when I played it on PS2 because I can't seem to route the Big Bang level for shit anymore. Before that, I beat Fuga Melodies of Steel 2 and got the secret movie. Currently playing Dave the Diver. It's not the deepest game despite just how many mechanics they toss in but it's still a fairly addicting gameplay loop and I do appreciate just how much effort and personality went into this game. I've also got FF16 on the back burner but I have not been able to find as much time to just sit down with it and really get engrossed in it for a few hours without having to get up and take care of something every 30 minutes. Game has its flaws but I have been enjoying it.

We Love Katamari is probably the best entry in the series I'd say just because it has the most variety without a bunch of bloat. Things went a bit downhill after that. Tribute was solid but by that point there wasn't quite the same magic left in the series. First game still holds up but in all honesty, if you were only ever going to play one game in the series, We Love would be my recommendation.

There is a point where he switches to his drunk personality which gets extremely annoying. I miss drinking honestly, but at the rate I was going I wouldn't make it over past my 40s. Also currently playing Valheim a lot. I play solo 95% of the time

Turned 30 yesterday. Life is pretty shitty, I tried to be a comic artist but I couldn't create anything of my own and I can't find work anywhere and now I can't find any work because I don't have any qualifications, I've only been in a relationship that lasted many years but after we broke up she immediately got engaged and changed 4-5 guys cooler than me (obviously) and I was left alone, I'm not complaining but I feel bad for my parents, I would have liked to earn money to let them live well , to make them visit more places, instead the more I go on and the more life scares me. Gaming is good, it was a great year, we are lucky to be passionate about video games because it is one of the richest and most varied media

I'm having a terrible time making new friendships online.
2008-2014 was amazing in the sense where anyone with any interest in your own hobbies, it was simply too easy chat up people and become virtual best friends in the span of a few hours.
All nighters on skype talking about whatever the frick. Playing games, having the time of my life.
Now I'm 32 and I tried getting into more mature gaming circles like VR for example and while the people there are seemingly my age, it's so goddamn hard to keep conversation going and just get to know people.
We have weekly events where it's almost the same people showing up and while I'm always genuinely interested to talk with almost anyone about any subject, I feel like it's a one way street. It's like everyone is jaded and putting on a personas for "public" appearances but then have this immense barrier and don't want to commit at all with bonding with others, like they've been burned out hard.
I don't particularly think of myself as someone who's a social butterfly or anything, even the opposite as most of my time spent is "alone" time.
I really want to get friends with people my age but I feel like it's not meant to be and it demoralizes me.

Even with a mortgage? I was under the impression that once you made decent money you should buy a house, and the monthly payments would be the equivalent of renting anyway but after 20y you actually own your house.

a lot of places are in a position where landlords are buying up as much of the housing stock as they can so you're expected to have a huge deposit/down payment ready to go to compete with them and if you don't have that then you're not getting a mortgage

and they will usually have money to outbid first time buyers anyway

That's hardly anything new. Fight Club was basically about men who felt lost and directionless, and it came out in the 90s. My theory is that everything always sucked, it's just that we were never really allowed to admit it.

Playing DS for the first time because I really wanted to play Eldren Ring but first wanted to be a bit more familiar with FromSoft games to get a better idea of how the series started and where it's going.
The only other FromSoft game I had played before was BloodBorne, and I'm hesitant on whether or not to play DS3 first before ER or go straight into ER after beasting DS (Not going to play Sekiro, just looking at videos it and I know I'm don't have the time to GitGud enough for it)

Life-wise. Got my third-life crisis after my daughter was born and from that moment it hit me that my youth was behind me, and anything I hoped to achieve outside of career and family (art projects, game development, etc...) now feels unatainable, and I regret spending so many years worrying about how I spent my free time as I felt behind in my career that I played VERY FEW games over the last 7-or-so years and so feel like I missed out on a lot of great stuff. I can't complain too much as I have done a lot over the last decade and now make 6 figures, but wish I had been more relaxed about life up to this point

It's been a lot better. About a year ago my gf and I of 5 and a half years broke up (around July) and while we talked a lot we only wanted to start taking steps towards getting back together around Christmas. But this year we had so much back and forth on if that was a good or bad idea and all that. It was hard on both of us. We spoke early July or so that we should probably let both of us be free and able to move on properly. And it honestly sucked for awhile I was super down and even though a big part of me knew it was right I hated to lose her. Despite that we were able to remain friends.

Then she told me she was going to see some guy she had been chatting to and getting to know in another state, and while I was initially upset and jealous it kind of felt like a weight lifted off my shoulders. I felt able to truly let myself be free and just enjoy life properly again, not waiting for her texts or thinking what she was doing...And even though I was kind of sad I felt pretty good. I had been on dates and I can finally pursue girls that im interested in without guilt, go on fun dates, frick hot girls and just have fun again. Focus on my work and training.

So I ended up realizing that I had a beautiful relationship where we both got to grow, love eachother deeply but just not have been ultimately right for eachother at this time in our lives. That we can maintain a friendship and just be happy for one another. She's a wonderful person and I wish her everything good and I feel like I can finally really grow and move on for myself.

And Ive basically just been playing the new season of Apex, started Ghostwire Tokyo, but its not outstanding sadly.

      >"we just werent right for each other, its good we can play the field and engage in degenerate courtship so i can frick a bunch of random girls and ultimately end up with some other random person who probably isnt a better fit and we wont be able to look back on our lives we spent together but at least i got to have random meaningless sex"
      >"i play mostly apex legends"
      >this all padded out with lots of sentimental effeminate garbage and simping
      >"im glad i got to waste more time wasting my life working to paying taxes for subhumans, single mothers and israeli wars
you sound like an insufferable normie homosexual homosexual who should be dragged out into the street and beaten within an inch of his life
i guess this is what happens when you waste 5 years of your life trying to make it work with some dumbass roastie and all her feminine bullshit rubs off onto your personality. this is probably why it "wasnt working out". you let her psyche totally infiltrate your own and became a b***h totally reliant on her and always saw everything through her perspective instead of being a fricking man

Hey man, when you have a good relationship one day youll understand man. While I attest I wasnt in a good place for the half year and definitely lost my way an direction. I can still look back on a really great relationship with a lot of positive emotion.

I hope you find someone who makes you super happy man!

I only play Dota 2 anymore. I don't have the attention span to start a new game and slog through a tutorial for 4 hours. Had enough of that.
