30+ YEARS OLD GRAMPA GAMING THREAD
what are you fellow old fricks playing? My preference nowadays seems to be nice single player indle games that don't take too long to finish, as it otherwise becomes too hard to balance with my job. Neon White seems to be pretty cool in that sense.

I'm playing the waiting game
Boom
based.
im playing through dragon age origns.
minst6er hunter
It's always monster hunter
I don't feel too good... the heat is too much. I have an extra oxygen tank besides me but not sure how long I will last...
I tried playing some Sniper Elite 4 but it clearly has paid reviews. Game's buggy and repetitive as frick and even the controls are still broken. I regret wasting my time for it at all.
Going back to some PCSX2 and Duckstation. Frick these new games I really fricking hate everything what is new because it's always somehow shitty and/or compromised.
>I have an extra oxygen tank besides me but not sure how long I will last...
what happened?
When you get older you will understand.
i don't smoke so i don't think i will
Lots of dumb normie multiplayer stuff: fall guys, fortnite, rocket league, overwatch. And a lot of random indie stuff. Mostly an xbox player, so whatever catches my eye in that realm.
I watched a friend play Neon White, it looks fkn awesome. Reminds me of a Dreamcast game, I love it.
How can you be 30+ and play these literal children games?
You just enjoy what you enjoy. Not everyone becomes jaded as frick with age. I still like a lot of games, be it new AAA games, VNs, indies, porn games, BRs, etc.
shouldn't you ancient fricks have something more important things to do than playing childrens entertainment?
Like what?
Sometimes we need a break from fricking your mom
waging is for zoomers now
Sorry, lil' zoom, playing games, drinking and jacking off are the most important things right now.
>giving two shits about anything that isn't family and hobbies past a certain age
Stellaris, Stardew and puzzle games these days
Why do the current young'uns think in absolutes and opposites
You can actually do several things in life.
I'm playing Three Hopes. It's actually better than I expected. All hail her highness, Edelgard!
Shouldn't you go back? It's late.
See you in the zoomer misery threads on this board in a few years. Unless you have plans of leaving before then of course 🙂
Legend of mana. No idea wtf i'm doing (just started and some guy joined my party looking for a girl).
old boomer mmos like everquest p99, ultima outlands, dark ages of camelot.
only place to avoid the zoomers.
Dark Age camlot is amazing best place if you like MMO
30 yo, Apex Legends with my friend who's 37, like 1-2 hours every day. It's just like kicking back with a low stress game.
I don't play any other video games any more, but I do read some visual novels.
based fellow apex boomer. I play with my younger brother and his friend. We play ranked so it's not always low stress but we never get mad and always have fun. Who do you main?
I only play Lifeline and Octane now. I also play ranked because normal queue teammates keep going off by themselves and duos in a trio queue often sucks. We're gold level so we pretty much average players.
It's higher stress solo, also turn off VC even when ranked. It's low stress once you've set expectations with your friend, and the 3rd teammate can just do whatever -- if they're angry we don't even know.
How can you enjoy any of this battle royale shit? It's not a low stress game. Just looking at how the characters look increases my blood pressure.
Apex is genuinely quite good, and the characters have their charms. There's all 2 non-battle royale modes if you really don't want to frick with that.
Lifeline even after they brought out Newcastle, brave man. Ranked is easier than normals imo since the matchmaking for normals is actual dogshit. Gold is good - last season was a nightmare to climb in. My team and I usually hit D4/D3 but atm we're climbing gold.
Boomer Ganker when?
Just be thankful storm point is off the rotation, frick that map
30 yo apex gay here. Only game I play anymore as well. This season is kind of shit though and I’ve been traveling for work more so I haven’t been playing as much but frick I do like Apex
I miss NTR Man 🙁
I fricking hate what this place has become all the mods are children. I want to move on already but I can’t because we are all stuck here forever.
34 here. I'm gonna compete in FGC tourneys again so I've spent the entire yesterday and am doing Tekken 7 training mode today, grinding punishes. Its tiresome, but as an old I need the experience and muscle memory to help offset the better reflexes that the young'ins have.
Based FGC boomer, which characters are you maining?
My boy Lei. I'm the kind of player that likes huge movesets and stances and a shitton of options.
33, just came down with covid, playing through fallout 4 to get some achievements.
What am I doing to myself...
>just came down with covid
The rona won't harm you, anon.
Black Geyser.
It's kind of janky but it is very fun.
I turned 30 today. Ive been playing dishonored, and the m2 3ds port of sonic 1. Im interested in getting one of those miyoo mini's
happy birthday anon!
Dishonored is based and the sequels and dlcs are all good shit too
I've been playing Weird West
Enjoying it so far
happy birthday anon
as of now im bout to start wasteland 2, that and im slogging through HR in MH Rise
Saturn games I missed cause I had a PSX.
raiding on a MoP server with a small /vg/ group. We're going to kill Lei Shen today finally!
I just beat Prototype 2 and I'm playing Azure Lane Crosswave on and off.
I'm waiting for a copy of Tales of Xillia to come in.
Gonna start Dead Island next.
27 anon here, mostly eu4 and vampire survivors lately plus some kf2 with friends
Mainly playing Crystal Project, it's pretty good.
Also playing Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns on the side
I found crystal project platforming to be pretty awful, "secret paths" involve hugging corners until you find the 1 place you're allowed to jump. rinse repeat for the rest of the game
I split my time between fps multiplayer (fortnite no-build, apex legends), open world single player and retro games on my CRT TV.
I used to like roguelikes but I just cannot be fricked with the time investment now. I tried out Returnal, had 3 runs with no progress and uninstalled.
Returnal is not a roguelike. Nethack and Angband are roguelikes...
Battlestar galactic deadlock strategy and sniper elite 5 which is very good.
I'm old I like battlestar galactic what can I say
Games I have replayed and beat in the last two months:
- Rage of Mages
- Rage of Mages 2
- Fortune Summoners
- Space Rangers 2
- Wolfenstein 3D
Playing HLL and Squad, hoping MW2022 will be better than BF2042, waiting for ER dlc and Diablo4, wishing someone would make a better Mechwarrior Online.
36 year old wizard. Alternating between Grim Dawn and Ys at the moment.
>There are still 30yo boomers posting daily in KSG
Bless those guys
>need glasses to read in-game texts
took a 2 week vacation to play Monster Hunter Sunbreak. kind of disappointed with the game, but it's still fun to play.
34 here
Im a Pandemicgay, meaning i retook gaming due to this pandemic after quitting around 2005 due to school. My first game in this era was Killing Floor, a gift i got and one of the few games my 2013 laptop could run.
I play:
Valorant, Fall Guys, Pubg, Magic the Gathering Arena, Assetto Corsa, Dirt Rally 2, Company of Heroes, Forgotten Hope 2, Phasmophobia, theHunter, Arma3
I spend my retirement autisticly breeding dinosaurs as if they were pokemon and building castles n sheeit
elden ring and pokemon showdown
I got a bit drunk and played Hypnospace Outlaw last night. It's like a janny power fantasy, in that you get paid for deleting ~~*problematic*~~ content.
I like Olli Olli World, it’s easy to play for as little or as long as I want. I can zone out doing challenges in the main levels or I can just try to outscore people in the daily online level
29 here. It feels like I'm perpetually stuck with the mindset of a 21 year old... it really fricks sucks when people treat you like an older man, even though when you don't feel like one.
So what stops you from maturing mentally to match your physical age?
I don't feel like it. Older people come off as boring and often jaded, with insincere interests, just so they can talk about something with the collegues next day. It's like they just accepted the daily grind and don't care anymore.
On the other habd, many of them chose to have kis, so that's basically condemning yourself to a limited life where others come first.
>it really fricks sucks when people treat you like an older man, even though when you don't feel like one.
Most people who are 40 and under today are perpetual adolescents because parents/teachers gave them no freedom in their teenage years and so they never matured into actual adults. Even while living on their own for decades and having jobs, they're still adolescents at heart.
Dunno if that's the reason but Hansen's show seem to feature a lot of those type of people.
Curious, why do you think you're stuck in a younger mindset? Reason I'm asking is that I'm in 30s and also sometimes think feel that way, like my mind is younger than my body, but I can't really pinpoint why I feel that way or what a "older" mindset would even be like.
Currently playing Factorio, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse and I got D2R in the current sale they're running, I made a new Necro and I'm in Act V now. I play a bunch of MP games with friends as well, if/when they're up for it like Hunt, GTFO, Chivalry 2 and Vermintide 2.
Destiny 2 on the weekend with the lads from work, slowly making my way through the Yakuza series during the week.
>what are you fellow old fricks playing
Xenoblade X and 2. I'm replaying the whole series before 3 drops but I don't think I'm gonna make it. I told myself I should blitz through without doing much sidequests but my monkey brain can't stop itself from accepting them all and doing most of them anyway. I just can't help it.
just finished Bloodstained yesterday, I was getting a bit fed up with it, but overall is a good game, a bit too long and repetitive for a Metroidvania, but yet again, I haven't played many of them. Would I recommend it? Yes, without a doubt. I would have removed the cooking system or at least placed the guy that sells you ingredients next to the alchemist, but hey, gotta make you walk 2 screens right, RIGHT?
Last game I finished was Blade of Darkness back in December.
I cannot focus on video games due to life issues stressing me out.
I've played TF2 today after many years but servers went to shit and my aim went even shittier.
Honestly being addicted to video games was better than this.
Life issues as in job?
I have a stable job I'm not particularly passionate about, but no, that's the least of my problems.
31 in 2 months
I mainly play elden ring, fortnite, binding of isaac. Occasionally i'll play borderlands 2 or 3 with gf or friends, mass effect 3 mp, or risk of rain 2
I am 34 so I guess I should post here.
Anyway,
There's no way for me to afford one of those expensive gamer laptops, but I would like to have a cheap one to play somethings. Were you on a budget, which one would you get? Are those i5, 8gb enough to play games like Monster hunter world, Kingdom Come and stuff like that?
Btw I was going to create a thread asking that but some stupid mod banned me from posting images
PC "requirements" are greatly over-stated. That would be fine for almost anything if you don't care about 4K and 120+ FPS (and honestly, you shouldn't).
Never cared much about resolution and 60 fps as long as the game plays consistently. You think i5 8gb is enough for a Monster Hunter World to run consistently at minimum?
8GB is alright, you only need a proper graphics card, that's the important purchase.
Going to try Xenoblade you kids hype about. Since I grew with old school anime adventure I guess I could enjoy it.
Be sure to play the Definitive Edition, it fixes most of the main issues people have with the original release (mainly how easy it is to get overlevelled, by giving you the ability to level yourself back down, improving quest objective tracking and giving you fashion gear slots so your entire party doesn't look like clowns in end-game)
33 here
Recently played ANNO: Mutationem, it was alright. Also played some TF2 with my long-time vidya bros for the first time in many years and that was really fun.
But most of my free time these days actually goes to reading & drawgayging.
I told myself I have to finish my backlog before I'm 30 this month
>REmake2 B runs
>P5
>metroid dread
ok boomer
I quit gaming in the x360 days to focus on career. Now I have a good job and only work 14 days a month so I can game alot. Got myself a series X with gamepass so mostly playing all the games I missed out on. That being said one series that really gripped me is DarkSouls. After beating 1, I had to play all 3. Then elden ring and borrowed my friends PS5 and played Blood borne and DS remake. Most games I get bored of pretty easy but souls games are like crack to me. No idea why just beating the living shit out of everything that moves is fun for so long but it just is
Recently I've been playing Majesty and Warship Gunner 2. I've been getting into an RPG mood, though, so I'll probably try out either Mary Skelter 2, Prince of Qin, or Growlanser 5 later today.
I haven't been able to get into the Souls games, and I'm not entirely sure why. They look like something I would enjoy, and I don't really have any major complaints with the formula, but the entries I've tried just haven't held my interest. I love some of From's earlier games, though, like King's Field, Shadow Tower, and Armored Core.
Turning 31 in a couple of months. Finally kicked the MMO addiction and have been enjoying single player games like Stardew Valley, modded Factorio, and Dragon's Dogma. Also playing Sunbreak but I cleared the story already and just am grinding in post game.
I recently beat Card City Nights and it was really fun.
Demon Souls
I still can't believe I'm 30
I recently bought Capcom Arcade Stadium and Castlevania Advance Collection on Switch, I also have tons of fricking games on the backlog like Pacman Museum+, Astral Chain, SMT V, DOOM 1, DOOM 2, DOOM 3 and 64, Bravely Default II, Aggelos, Blasphemous, Demon Turf, Ion Fury, Hotline Miami 1&2, Dragon Ball Fighterz, Ender Lilies, Steamworld, and other 200 games.
But also I am playing most N64 and Sega Genesis games, I'm currently enjoying Kirby 64, ToeJam & Earl, Ristar and Castlevania: Bloodlines
I dunno how you ppl handle your backlog, guess I will stop getting games for a while except for Xeno 3, Bayo 3 and Splatoon 3.
I hope we get Super Mario Odyssey 2, New DK game and GBC/GBA games coming to Switch
Also I need DLC for MK8 Deluxe and Mario Party Superstars
31 here, something I've noticed in my friend group is how far our computer setups have come
I've spent a lot of time tweaking every part of my setup to be cleaner wires/ergonomic and noticed my friends have gained similar habits
what is it about getting older makes me wanna just spend hours cleaning my desk/keyboard/room and actually enjoy it?
Playing "Stars Die", it's atmospheric as frick
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1457740/Stars_Die/
Turning 41 next month. I've noticed my games list edging closer and closer to an even physical/digital split. Mixed feelings about that. My rule of thumb is that if theres a physical version, I'll pick that up unless the price difference is enormous. But there are so many cool digital-only games that its inevitable the tides will turn.
32 year old here playing some breath of the wild. I think the game has some good criticism to it but it's pretty fun.
I've been playing designing and playing starcraft 1 custom and ladder games for 20 years with the occasional jrpg to break it up.
I enjoy crushing zoomers in fall guys
Median XL and now God Complex since it just came out. Also playing some Factorio and FTB Interactions every now and then.
homosexuals around my house have set opinions about people that are false I've noticed so been dealing with that for a time.
I've been playing Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive edition and giving Total warhammer 3 another try before Immortal Empires.
Xenoblade DE is pretty fricking great. Not sure who I should be playing in TWW3 though.
I ran out of medication and can't get out of my chair. I think I broke my hip 🙁
I started playing Rayze. Basically an aim trainer turned into one of those speedrunning first person platforming (ish) games. Quite fun.
And also more Slay the Spire.
