Honestly, I want them to try an HD-2D Pokémon game. I'm sure they'll somehow find a way to screw it up, but it's a step in the right direction.
Or alternatively use the PBR models. Those were actually fine.

Agreed, but I'd rather have a protag that's not named Hilda who has a huge ponytail by default.

      >all examples but one are from gen 5
Guess what, I think gen 5 looks like complete fricking ass because the pixel tweening and sprite rotation is shit, and the 2D and 3D graphics visually clash with one another.

Cuz Pokemon peaked in gen 3, everything after is already part of the downfall. Get it through your fricking skulls. Rome doesn't fall in a day, and this is what makes you morons keep advocating for anything past gen 3, you're incapable cutting your losses, and being objective thinkers.

It wasn't perfect, but it was a step in the right direction, unlike gen 4 forwards. I think what sucked about 3 was the setting. Too colorful and islandly, I don't know, but the building blocks were definitely there.

I really liked sprites and how flexible and unique they could all be, but Colosseum and XD show us 3d models can in fact work
The problem has always been the lack of care and effort put into the games, they made the models suck because it was cheap and easy, unfortunately that is the future of pokemon: cheap and easy

The models we have now are better than the garbage GCN spin offs. You’re just a nostalgiatard.

Nidoking looked like THIS on the N64 and GCN. What we have now is better than this abomination.

It's not the models, it's the character given to the models, they do more than stand there essentially tposed, each damage animation or attack animation had insite to the personality of the specific pokemon. It wasn't all generic.

No, it looked more like that on the Wii. In reality if you saw things as they were in their intended resolution all Pokemon games look passable up until Gen 7 when performance and visuals started taking a huge dip with zero payout.
But if you're going to take a literal N64 model, up the res, and slap it into a modern engine with lighting and things it was never designed to work with it's going to look like shit as it does in the image you posted, or any of the blown up mixel images of Gen 5 posted on this board constantly.
You might as well slap one of those blurry, smudgy filters all over the 2D games and say that's how it looked if you want a fair comparison.

Never, because sprites are no longer marketable to the lowest common denominator unless it's in a nostalgia-pandering retro context.
ALL sprites, regardless of quality, are currently seen as outdated and unappealing, so returning to sprites would be absolute suicide for Pokemon's sales.
