So I got around to playing this and MAN this game really puts into perspective how little precision and skill based 3D platformers are out there. I replayed Pseudoregalia as soon as I finished my first playthrough. I can't remember the last time I did that.
Does anyone know of anymore 3D platformers that scratch that precision and skill itch? Don't bother mentioning Mario, I don't own a Switch.

I will mention mario, but 64. It has a million romhacks. I recommend starting with Last Impact
I'm a giga brainlet when it comes to emus or modding. Any place to or resource to get a dummy up to speed to get set up? (i know how acquire my roms ""legally""")
I saw some of the kaze emanuar videos floating around and it looked i'm missing out on some p cool shit.
https://rentry()co/romhacks
Last Impact is janky shit. Play Star Road or Star Revenge 3.5/6.25/1.5 instead
Ghetto game with an ugly protagonist with a generic anime face.
I think it's pretty neat Sybil is still getting art in 2024, though I hope this year will have an indie game as good as Pseudoregalia
Is there anything on the horizon?
I'm hopeful for Atlyss and Pepper Grinder
>another platformer with a big booty anthro
Is this really the new trend?
How can you expect to jump without big booty? It's a brawler with a little girly man.
Why does she look so tired and pissed?
Resting b***h face.
It's okay, the movement was carried it but the environments didn't accommodate said moveset.
Is there more being developed for this game? It felt like an Alpha build but it was fun as shit. I really liked the idea of dropping your weapon when you get hit too much. Really incentives you to dodge shit instead of face tanking stuff.
I'm hoping for a more fleshed out combat system where you unlock sword moves and spells along with the sick platforming.
there's a map update with some extra costumes coming but who knows when the frick that'll actually come out
>that precision and skill itch
I don't think I finished a single room correctly.
>I don't think I finished a single room correctly.
My guy. You know that platforming gauntlet you have to do to open the throne room? I did that shit WITHOUT the wall run or the dash jump skills. I don't even know if I should be proud or pissed.
Lunistice
Super Kiwi 64
seconding SK64 which just got a free content update a couple of weeks ago with three new levels.
Neither of these really do what OP is asking. Kiwi is good but isn't a "toolbox" platformer, its a banjo like.
>lust-provoking image
>irrelevant, time-wasting question
>day in day out shilling this terribly made genric garbage only because you're attracted to the mc/advertising your shovelware
you know, i'm starting to see why people hate furgays so much
>posts another beloved furgay character
What did he meme by this
he didn't make any spelling mistakes, moron
Check again, Scooby.

this + Corn Kidz 64
>23 and counting
So are there any games you actually like?
I like this chart for the effort in matching the font and titles.
>the only "criticism" of Bug Fables is comparing it to an amazing game
But it wasn't compared to Superstar Saga.
Is Solar Ash really that good? It looks a little floaty
It's floaty but like an ice skater is floaty, you glissade over the landscape and the sense of momentum is really fun to maneuver. The level design is a bit suspect with a few too many bits that require fine maneuvering rather than making use of the full kit, but I had a great time with it.
Corn Kidz is legitimately one of the best games I played last year. Absolute platforming
the big catch isn't even out yet and bomb rush cyberfunk and solar ash are nothing like the other games on the image
she looks like she fricks human men
2nd yoka laylee game is servicable
That was a good example of scaling the frick back and focusing on quality for the consumer.
this game would be fun if it were actually focused and challenging. could see myself playing some fan maps but the main game was slow wannabe """metroidvania""" nonsense

Drawgays, draw more thicc princess please, I beg!
huh? but where's her fur?
The final boss doesn't have fur.
Then why would anyone draw her ?
I'll take some thick Sybil requests
This, but she's wearing jeans while going topless. Seen from behind so we get a good view of her buns.
I am awake now. I'll do these. Check the drawthread's anchor later
Nice
neat
Thick Sybil being mighty mighty, a brick house.
Sybil ripping her tight clothes with her thickness so they're more comfortable on her.
Sybil sitting on a stool and her fat ass is about to break it
cute art
who even is that on the left?
Final boss in Pseudoregalia. She has some nice exposed thighs too.
Cavern of Dreams, warning the movement isn't nowhere as good though but it is decent for what it aim to be. The main thing is that there is a ton of hidden stuff that you can only start to search for after you basically completed the game and unlock the ability to fly, if you quit the moment you collected everything then you will miss out on a ton of fun stuff. The game is a lot more linear and an extremely short game. So short in fact I honestly recommend pirating it for the 1-2 sessions it will take to complete the main bit and explore fully with the 3rd session. Support the dev if you like what you see, personally one of the few games I replay in general but the fact it is so short likely help with that.
I would've liked cavern of dreams if the tail slam was more consistent and easier to control. Once I unlocked horn slamming it was really hard to get the vertical bounce that used my momentum to pop me into the air instead of forwards. Overall I liked it was going for but preferred Corn Kidz (with Psuedoregalia being better than both)
I never got into cavern of dreams. It was cute and fun at times but it's just so mid. Also, points off for sneaking in lgtv shit
>Also, points off for sneaking in lgtv shit
what are you talking about?
snoys adamant about sony tv's being better
the witch thing that helps you is nonbinary
where the frick is that even stated? i don't remember seeing it in the game
You say the witch is female? Why would that be LGBBQ?
No, Sage is never stated to be nonbinary. They just go by they/them pronouns, as shown in their encyclopedia entry and some of the dialog referring to them.
I love the bootyful goat bunny thing lady
Poi is a pretty good 3d Collectathon. Slime 64 is shaping up to be really fun too.
>Don't bother mentioning Mario, I don't own a Switch.
always pirate and emulate nintendo games, you dumb Black person. You dont have to pay a dime to play any of that and nobody should. but honestly 3d mario doesnt ever hit as hard as it used to with sunshine and galaxy and 64. you are not missing much on switch
bomb rush cyberfunk was pretty cool but I dont think you would love it unless you were a diehard JSR fan honestly. pretty neat game but its not what i call precision platforming.
if you can put up with a little jank, sonic adventure 1 and 2 is worth it. ignore the youtuber opinions and just get your own.
Why isn't she wearing any pants despite wearing a jacket
I am evilly hoping his next game flops so he has to make a Pseudoregalia 2 with more fanservice.
Me too, just so we can see the jiggle physics.

is cornkidz any good?
Yes. The worst thing about it is the 30fps lock
Yeah. It's kind of short and a few of the jumps it wants are horseshit but as long as you don't get vsync issues it controls really well.
Sybil paizuri
Precision and skill? The game isn't that difficult.
>ctrl+f
>cloudbuilt

Play CloudbuiltSuper Cloudbuilt, since you want precision.
I'm still mad about that game's shit fricking ending
I know it's not a story game, but still I'm mad
There are like 9. I don't think it matters. Not to mention the girl they got can moan and grunt but can't read her lines to save her life.
I only played regular Cloudbuilt, there were 5 in that. And all of them fricking sucked, because none of them actually said anything solid.
I expected the final ending to contextualize them all and show some kind of solid truth, that would have been an amazing finale
>demi becomes solid, new door in the hospital opens
>massive fall to this blood red place, more platforming
>oh boy oh boy oh boy, there's a level after the bonus level, i can't wait to see what exciting mind-blowing shit happens here
>the end of the level is like 10 fricking feet away from the start
>demi just gives one little quip and that's it
>my fricking face
Well, you can play Super and be disappointed even more, because they added more endings and not a single one is concrete. I guess the only one that is somewhat concrete and is contextualised by what you need to do to find it is the secret one in the very beginning.
At least it was a fun game in and of itself I guess
It was so close to having a cool story to go with it though, I was actually getting invested
This game's obnoxious aesthetic made me drop it. "Scribbly" shaders can go to hell. Enter the Spiderverse's aesthetic sucks too. They all look like Drawn to Death

What's the best way to get an N64 controller for PC? Is it better to buy a real N64 controller with an adapter or are there accurate USB controllers that feel just as good? I no longer own a real N64 and playing N64 games without the trident controller sucks
>playing N64 games without the trident controller sucks
not true, it works great with any modern pad. and I say this growing up with an n64.
I played OoT (PC port) with a PS3 controller and the lack of C buttons was a massive pain in the ass. I ended up binding C-Left to triangle, C-Down to circle, C-Right to R2 and C-Up to right stick up. Remember what button was what for ocarina inputs was a pain in the ass, and if I played a different N64 game I'd have to rebind all over again.
I guess if I bought a controller with six face buttons that could alleviate a lot of the issues, but if I'm buying a new controller to play N64 games there's no reason not to just buy an N64 controller
In SM64 the c-buttons being a stick works fine since it's just for adjusting the camera, but as for 6 button controllers I like the HORI Octa. The six clicky face buttons feel good
Nice, show the ones that are playable on PC Port.
make do with emulators, kid.
I do
it's just really hard to go back to Mario 64 emulation when the PC Ports exist.
Some anon spams CornKids64 but I haven't played it enough to say how well it stacks up.
I enjoyed Blue Fire
played the original of Demon Turf and that i enjoyed not so much
the demon tower dlc of it was kidna fun and felt more focused but the "le so hard!" getting over it gmmick of it kicking you back a lot without any saving made me eventually drop it
if they ever added a save every 10 or so floors i would give that another try
forgot screenshot and comfy soundtrack
Blue fire is like £6 at the moment. Should I bite? I really dislike the character design at first glance though. Looks odd with the wind swept boyband hair
It's fairly janky, and the combat is shit. It's got decent exploration though. It's kind of more of a 3D metroidvania than a more traditional 3D platformer.
So it’s just a big area with backtracking rather than levels or stages?
Yeah
it has both
overworld is metroid vaniaish
and has super mario sunshine type loose world that are just 100% focused platforming gauntlets
to add to it, the free dlc is just the platforming zones plus a final boss wich I personally enjoyed and was a good sendoff for the game
i played demon turf after finishing the base game and was let down and dropped it, then still had the itch for the feel of blue fire's more versatile stringing of moves together and that more focused dlc really got me to get it out of my system so to speak
i agree the visual style isn't my favourite either, at best a simplistic but ok windwakerish look, at best you can see some out of place assets and more barren environments
the hair is the most out of place
my screenshot here
is an unlockable outfit of what the main guy looked like in the demo/alpha and ironically i think that looks a lot better
Are there any games like Demon Turf and Hat Kid not for the crying emoji reasons? I like the actual world feeling alive alongside the movement options.
yeah im thinking im gonna do a baldurs gate 3 style scene with that animal
>boomershooter gayshit
>ps1 graphics
>heh yeah its HARD for us HARDCORE GAMERS
why the frick is every indie game like this now
Because zoomershooters are shit aim assist ridden pop up and shoot snooze fests or f2p multi seasons gatcha crap
>buy Dreams PS4
>countless of cool little platformers to play
There's only a handful of good ones. Namely Trip's Voyage
Shame it's not on PC.
Kids could get up to some crazy stuff.
Anyone played this?
Reviewed well enough but I NEVER trust reviews where the game was provided by the publisher
I never played medievil so no. Its basically just a clone of that, so if you like medievil you will like it.
It's fine. Eminently functional. Controls aren't particularly crisp, the level design is just kind of there, and the writing is godawful. Unless you're positively jonesing for a 6/10 platformer and enjoy the Halloween aesthetic it's worse than even shit like New Super Lucky's Tale
no sex scenes, no buy
>She fricks human men
Golly gee
is buy an ad the new troonybot cope?
How do you innovate on platformer controls when other games already get them spot on with all the extra bells and whistles like ledge-grabbing and wall bouncing?
Innovation shouldn't be just adding more and more features on how to platform because that creates a little bit of bloat that will make level design harder to produce. Not to say shit should go back to the primitive Super Mario Bros platforming where all you have is run and jumping for however long you hold the jump button, but sometimes less can be more.
I know that, but thinking about platformers in general it just feels like once everything's been expanded on to such a point (like with good controls, level design, etc.) that any other platformer made past that point isn't going to really be able to do anything interesting or unique or stand out with the formula outside of radical divergence into something else entirely.
Guess it's just seeing games like Pseud, Odyssey, Corn Kidz and the like that just me feel like the ceiling for what platformers can do is within touching distance.
>Guess it's just seeing games like Pseud, Odyssey, Corn Kidz and the like that just me feel like the ceiling for what platformers can do is within touching distance.
Yeah fair enough, i guess the next way to innovate from what Pseudoregalia, corn kidz and mario odyssey have done is just having a stronger blend of platforming and combat. This is a (me) issue but even if pseudoregalia is already an excellent game for its platforming, there are things that truly make me wish the game had a little more oomph when it comes to combat.
>Sybil can throw and kick the dream breaker for hella damage
>Dream breaker can deflect projectiles
>Charge shot shenanigans combined with the dive stomp could be turned into a feature to create a shockwave for crowd control or slightly enhance the jump you get out of bouncing up
>The magic meter levelling up the dream breaker for combat in general
Like imagine if enemies fired projectiles at you as you speed around and you used said projectiles as platforms as a way to blaze through some levels that isn't even required to progress but it's just sick shit you can do. That's something that could be fun to see in a platformer, and it makes me a bit upset the closest thing i can think of is Ultrakill, whose platforming level design is practically just basic level because Ultrakill's movement reached the stratosphere (literally, rocket surfing invalidates so much level design)
Swimming and fluids in general are largely unexplored territory still. Mario Sunshine's puddle sliding is really fun and there's potential there if you were to apply that slippery physics to all surfaces and at all times, not just during a dive.
>Mario Sunshine's puddle sliding
Reminded me of this janky game I played a long time ago. It's not a platformer though at all, it's more of a puzzle game.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/108500/Vessel/
I think Water levels are a slept on aspect to innovate
>Walljumping around the ocean to gain momentum and speed up your swim
>Or flat out sprinting on the seafloor akin to how Hippos ''swim'' in their lakes IRL
>Jesusmaxxed movement where if you're going at crazy speeds or you have a slide, you can glide and surf on the water (imagine bhopping so fast you don't sink, akin to what Cruelty Squad does when you get to Bog Business)
>Grappling hooks underwater to pull yourself over at high speeds or anchor yourself in high speed currents.
There's a lot of shit that could be done to make swimming controls or anything involving water actually fun.
You don't need to innovate, just make something people like the look of and feels good to control.
I'd say 90% of the indie scrimblos mentioned ITT don't do anything beyond what banjo or mario could do back in the 90s, sometimes way less.
Doesn't really matter as long as the game looks cool, and is fun to jump around in.
1)I want Sybil to sit on my face
2)I want Pseudoregalia to get not just a level creator, i also want a monster creator or some way to alter enemies and the combat itself
3)I want furries to never stop drawing art of he
4)Even if OP doesn't want to play mario games, i think Mario 3D World is a damn solid platformer for what it is, but it is also one of those ''it gets good after some hours into the game'' type of shit.
of *her fat butt*
