Spindash is fun but it made boost and drop dash irrelevant. It should give you instant speed when running and holding the button for it, it should just be a normal roll for slopes. Same thing for being able to use it in the air. The controls are a little off too I feel like it should be the crouch button + jump to make it a little easier to use

In Mania was good as a quick spindash but in Frontiers, you have boost
drop dash was sorta useful in the vanilla game cause it was the only way to go fast down hills and keep momentum
but that's kinda out the window now so yeah it's useless. They can fix it by allowing you to keep the momentum from the drop dash jumps
Drop Dash should be used for shorter distances or at least keep it exclusive fir 2D games, Boost should be retired for good, although the aerial version is cool, Spin Dash should've always be the main way for Sonic to gain speed quickly.
Drop Dash was never good in Frontiers, and boosting still has its place with air boosts/any time you dont want to launch.
Chaining spindash jumps into air boosts feels really good.
The game still just looks so bland visually though.

SA1 (because for Tails and knuckles is nearly 1 to 1 to classic Sonic, followed by Sonic's spamdash), SA2, Lost World, 06, Frontiers (both for being fricking unlockable in fear of "muh OP" and the fact from every webm I see it just highlights how 06 tier janky the entire game moves it just looks "autistic good" and not "polished good".
If only the level design in SA1 was beta windy valley then I would have been satisfied.

Frontiers was the first Sonic I've touched in a decade (longer if Racing Transformed didn't count) and I had a legitimately good time with it. Got 25 hours out of beating it and running all the Cyberspace levels in Arcade Mode (just to confirm that only like 40% of them are good but still). I was waiting for Wave 3 to return and burn through all the new content at once. Superstars looks nice too; not full retail nice but I'll play it eventually.
I'd recommend getting the spindash now so you can fully enjoy Wave 3 since the leaked animations show they have the spindash too,

go up to the part with all the disabled spikes. look around, theres a ramp. you need to fling yourself off that to another ramp on the other side and then use that ramp to fling yourself to the climbable wall to reach the top
You have to use one of the ramps to boost off of and you'll fly towards it

The input window is lenient, even though the inputs themselves are simple and share buttons with platforming controls. There's really no easy way to remedy that issue aside from using mods or getting gud.

The spin dash makes the Cyberspace levels fun as hell
this doesnt really look like a spindash. it doesnt have that charge up that it did in the old games, its just an immediate speed boost.
you can stand still and charge it up if you want, it'll go even faster.
You could just charge it up, it's literally just the SA1 spin dash where you can spam tap it, but it also has the Lost World spin dash properties where you can hold it.

Sonic Frontiers is fun
I liked it way more than I thought I would, I enjoyed it a ton.
Stranger of Paradise was my game of the year but Sonic Frontiers came as a close second. Glad these updates add so much free content as well
