2DS XL has no option for IPS screen if that matters to you. There's no special hardware mods really. I only saw people add bluetooth to the 3d models but you could probably rig something up on the 2ds xl too

You're missing out on better audio and a ton of extra content. I think the original tbh might not have had any voice acting either, or just a lot less of it. There's arguments about which version of Strange Journey or Etrian Odyssey is better, but I've never seen anyone go up to bat for the original tbh games compared to the Overclocked editions.

No, I only have the PikaNips edition and the red XY edition of the OG 3DS XL. I've been meaning to upgrade the PikaNips to a N3DS since its age is showing (audio is somewhat funky, artwork has faded in certain places, and the Circle Pad has been reduced to a nub due to Smash Bros.) but I'm not sure if I should go for the regular N3DS or the XL.
I'm also doing research on how to preserve save data, NNIDs, and downloaded games when installing CFW. I have CFW installed on my red XY Edition and I like it. When I get a N3DS I'd like to get CFW on that but I also want all of the data on my PikaNips 3DS transferred to it.
The normal System Transfer feature on the 3DS will actually do what you want done there, but none of your downloaded/installed games will appear until you've hacked your new system.

It's a laptop touch-nub, not an analog stick. Though it does become much more usable if you rip the nub out and stick a PSP-1000 analog nub in its place, the system also still closes with that.
