but enough about the ps1 and saturn.
the N64 was getting like two games a year, and they were both powerpoint slideshows with blurry textures whose players all trooned out later in life.
The most noteworthy game for Saturn is a 30 minute tech demo where you play as a troony clown flying through rings. Fitting considering the average Saturn fan in 2022.
panzer dragoon saga alone was better than anything on troon64, troony.

PDS is a bog standard snore inducing JRPG but because it's one of the few games on Saturn that isn't an inferior port the hipster trannies who pretend the Saturn is good prop it up as a masterpiece.

how did you manage to confuse panzer dragoon saga and the saturn with paper mario and the troon64?

I did not confuse Pansy Dragtroon for a game people might actually want to play.
Nice way of outing the fact you were born past the year 2000 homosexual. No one had or cared about the saturn lmfao. Also no one fricking cared, mentioned or talked about fps or textures, those are modern day discussions with modern stalled 3d graphics.
>Also no one fricking cared, mentioned or talked about fps
zoomer detected. here's some literal usenet threads from right after oot came out complaining about its framerate (and nintendo drones, as always, rushing in to defend precious ninty):
I'm 32 you moron. I'm not talking about the fricking losers on message boards back then I'm talking about fellow kids at the time. You know, the majority of users.
>Chunky Monkey feel >Humans can't see above 30 fps >the ram expansion will fix it >it's a $100 machine your comparing to a $2000 machine >"n64 drones" and "hypers"
We truly are here forever, this is barely any different from nowadays. Also, didn't Zelda run at 20fps?
People were happy with those two games a year, because they were good. You had some of the most impressive 3D adventures, and some of the most fun four player party games. >b-b-b-but the Saturn has over a thousand "hidden gems"
I'm sure it did, but you weren't playing them at the time, and neither was anyone else.
The N64 did flop, especially after how strong Nintendo's position as market leader was with the NES and SNES. Their handhelds have been keeping them alive since that era, with the one exception being the Wii. The Switch is obviously doing fantastic right now but that has the handheld aspect going for it.

The Switch appears to be doing well since they merged their handheld and home console unit into one and artificially dragged it over two console gens, it still made them less money than Wii + DS

>wow, just 1% higher than n64 on one region of the world
nintendo should just pack it up and go full 3rd party and make games for sega, sony and microsoft.

It really isn't fair to list this off as just the major consoles.
If your going to show market share you got to include the actual flops like the Atari Jaguar, Virtual Boy, Sega Game Gear, Probably also include expansions like Sega CD or N64DD.
You also have a lot of cross generation performance. For example the NES didn't reach end of life until midway into 4th gen. PS2 technically went through out the entire 7th generation too. And the Wii did manage to outlast the Wii U.
Also Latin America is just not here for this Data.
Also where the heck is the 6th and 5th gen portables?
The central issue to this image is that you are just not telling the full story about it.
The N64 was absolutely a flop, I question if you lived through it to even say that anon.
I had a sub to official nintendo magazine through the 64 years and it was tragic, there was almost nothing for them to write about.
>Sega Saturn in 2nd.
Are you fricking stupid.
Nobody is disputing that the PS1 did better in terms of sales and number of games.
But for God's sake don't use your hatred of the N64 to justify rewriting history.
Hardly anyone outside of Japan had a Sega Saturn.
Aside from Sonic R, Nights into Dreams, and Daytona USA that Saturn had hardly any classic games.
Meanwhile both the PS1 and N64 have long lists of classic games you could list off.
>Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, Ocarina of Time, Rocket Robot on Wheels, Rayman 2, Donkey Kong 64, Jet Force Gemini, Majora's Mask, Banjo Tooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day
pure soul
I'm replaying through OoT atm. This game is nothing short of amazing and it's not nostalgia talking. Game from that era did so much with so little.
Take the Gerudo thieves fights. Link basically has 3 moves: slash with his sword, block or sidestep. Yet with a toolkit close to this plus a special move, the Gerudos put up a relatively intense fight. I unironically abused savestates just to fight them again.
OoT is garbage held up by nostalgia, I first played it when I was in my early 20s and it was a pain just getting through the terrible controls and ugly environments in order to see how shitty the game design as a whole is
>terrible controls
Emulation doesn't do it justice. I'm having trouble aiming but remember just facerolling shooting galleries as a 10 years old. If you have issues with something else you're basically moronic. Or just bad because some enemies are designed to push your shit in, if you don't read them you get rekt.
>unironically abused savestates just to fight them again.
You've highlighted one of the very few issues with it for me, the highlights of OOT are quite spread out. There are entire dungeons that just suck and you have to muddle through waiting for the good bit later on.
Great game still despite what sad zoomers say.
Ye I can see what's your issue. The game was designed primarily around puzzles and explorations. The good stuff was the reward in a way. Some side objectives are absurdly cryptic. It was done so you'd "waste time" and get more hours out of the game. They also assumed you could look up guide or talk with your friends about the game to find out its secrets.
Ho also picrel was actually pretty hard. Idk how I could get past him as a kid. He probably gatekept me for a while but the fight is cool af.
I'd say the PS1 and N64 combined was the best generation of consoles as there was a lot of experimentation and excitement from devs due to the change from 2d to 3d. I'm aware that PS2 and Gamecube is the generally agreed upon best gen but I think PS1/N64 gen had more passion and variety.
anyone who didn't grow up during that time will never know this feeling seeing those classics getting released every few week.
but enough about the ps1 and saturn.

the saturn outsold the N64 in japan, the us was the only market where the n64 was relevant because the euros were full on snoys.
No one gives a shit about japan sales weeb.
whatever you say, jim ryan.

they obviously weren't, as the N64 was a crippling flop for nintendo worldwide.
It was by no means a flop.
nintendo went from industry leader to third place in japan and a distant second worldwide. the N64 flopped HARD.
still sold better than Gamecube. There's like a 10 million difference of sold units
>still sold better than Gamecube.
the gamecube was doomed before it even came out because of how much damage the N64 did to nintendo's brand.
Which is more a testament to how successful the Playstation was. Dreamcast was a flop. Nintendo stuck around to make four more consoles.

saturn didn't even have a sonic game. why would anyone care about it?
n64 didn't even have a metroid game. why would anyone care about it?
They didn't
yeah but it did have a mario game
>fricking zoomer thinks anybody fricking owned a saturn
Saturn barely got frick all in the usa. Ps1 and even 64 were so far ahead in areas that matter.

Low poly was an unironic downgrade from 16-bit pixel art
But it was better for 3d though.
3D was a mistake
False. But everything after low poly has been a downgrade
There's something cosy about those big stretched textures in N64 games. It's such a particular kind of look. Almost impressionistic.
For me, it's 3rd person PS2 games.
n64? more like shitendo shitty foul
still my fav n64 game, forced my sisters to play the robot and help me
>forced my sisters
>3rd person N64 games were dogshit that only a literal child could enjoy
Fixed that for you op
play mystical ninja mother fricker
>Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, Ocarina of Time, Rocket Robot on Wheels, Rayman 2, Donkey Kong 64, Jet Force Gemini, Majora's Mask, Banjo Tooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day

What went wrong?
Capcom is technically to blame for this due to how successful and influential RE4 was.
What kind of fricking psychopath formatted this picture
I am a tendie but ps1 looks better

Decompilation? It runs at 200fps instead of 20fps.

Thoughts on the PC port?
saw a tutorial on how to change textures recently. Think I'm going to mess around with it a little bit tonight.
Gonna make a Ruto lewd mod?
Add Mystical Ninja to the blank spot.
