You just know he was completely serious when he made that post too
I'd wager Silksong will do better then Starfield
>Gritty, complicated game
vs
>Bright, simple, easy to master game
the web algorithms love the later, and for that SS will nuke Starfield
Hollow knight is a glorified hobbyist meme game.
Starfield is a real game from a multi-million company.
The web is a joke, (you)'re a joke.
Which one will have a larger audience of kids who will remember it for the rest of their lives?
Kids nowadays are fucking stupid, a failed generation desperate to get attention, fixated with sex orientation and unfunny quirky memes, that has seen nothing but stagnation.
Obviously those gays like you will chose the flash game over a real game because has the most meme potential and LGBT attention.
>Kids nowadays are fucking stupid
kids are always stupid, everyone when they are young will be stupid
>a failed generation desperate to get attention
completely true, because they were exposed early on to technology they shouldn't of had
>fixated with sex orientation and unfunny quirky memes, that has seen nothing but stagnation
this connects to the previous point, Millennials set up GenZ for failure, they gave them tech they didn't understand while also being the ones to influence them with this retardation
>Obviously those gays like you will chose the flash game over a real game because has the most meme potential and LGBT attention.
I choose the flash game because I'm comparing them on a parental level, I would rather my child have a simple game with cute characters then a game that is made for teenagers. I don't care about "le meme potential" or the fag representation, in my experience HK was light on those things which made it the best option to give to a kid by far, its not right wing or left wing, its just a game.
Hollow Knight is a great game to give to a kid
>teaching them to play through something that doesnt handhold them
>teaching them a sense of direction and navigation
>teaching them to put pieces together by drawing a line from the movement tool to the obstacle they can now overcome
>I would rather my child have a simple game with cute characters then a game that is made for teenagers.
So you want your children to keep eating shit, so that the next gay generation will keep eating more shit and support fucking flash games instead of actual real games?
You want a future full of cheap indie shit made by game dev wannabe in search of meme success instead of supporting actual game studios willing to give a proper future to the industry?
Better stick to Fortnite and fifa at this point.
I turned out just fine off Mario games, this is just he modern version of those
Mario was made by a company that believed in videogames as a medium and wanted to grow.
Hollow knight is just a lucky meme game made by 3 gays that can barely code.
Hollow knight is not a modern version of a game, it's just derivative garbage that brings nothing new to the table.

>any post I don't agree with is bait
I've been waiting so long for Silksong that Rabi-Ribi's spiritual sequel was announced and is coming out later this year, so now I'm more excited for that.
i honestly think its going to drop somewhere around vacation, late 2023 / early 2024
i have honestly not been convinced that this game is actually any decent and not just loved solely because of underage anime girls
It's definitely not for everyone but I had a lot of fun with all the boss fights, the music is top notch too. If you're judging the overall game based on the artstyle then I don't think anyone can convince you it's a solid metroidvania.
i just looked at the bosses and gameplay clips and thought it didnt look good
things many rabi ribi fans post, when compared, started to feel like their description of the game's qualities was unrealistic or even contradictory
It's a different beast than stuff like Hollow Knight even though people try to pretend it's similar. I checked it out because "anime bunnygirl metroidvania" sounded fun but by the end I was just in it for the bullet hells, which is where it really shines.
I'll freely admit the platforming/exploration is decent but nowhere as good as HK. Different strokes.
i dont like the idea of bullet hells. bullet hells are a nice concept but its also cheap, its not really using the qualities of the movement in a 2d sidescroller.
It is though. Complicated attack patterns are a natural evolution of platforming when applied to combat. What makes more use of 2D movement, an attack where the boss plunges at you in a straight line (99% of Metroidvania bosses have this move in their arsenal) or a screen-covering bullet pattern that requires varied and precise inputs to weave through?
Purely on a conceptual level there's nothing about danmaku-style attacks that works against platformer movement; the score you give to Rabi Ribi's execution is a different matter.
bullet hells are cheap and not actually interesting tight enemy design
bosses like Nightmare King Grimm arent too complex but they still mog the entire genre. It works fine but its cheap, it doesnt feel like a real duel. Something like the NKG fight, hornet 2, etc feel like a duel. what you see in rabi ribi is two completely different things, someone with generic shitty attacks and a braindead unresponsive enemy that can fill the screen with bullets.
It's been a minute since i fought Grimm, but isn't he just babby's first bullet hell boss himself?
do remember that grimm has two versions, an easy one and a much harder superboss one
he only has one attack, locked beyond hp% thresholds, that is a bit of a bullet hell move. his other moves are stuff like '' lunge attack into uppercut raining down projectiles ''
He looks like he has about six attacks
>dash uppercut combo that ends in a rain of fireballs
>Wave of blood bats
>Pillars of flame that chase you
>Cocoons himself and then spams a full screen of fireballs
>Dive stab and Dash stab combo
>Spikes that attack from the floor across the whole screen
And pretty much all of those attacks are totally in line with the kind of things a "bullet hell" like Rabi-ribi will throw at you.
>the gay Knight fan loves tranime
Who would've thought.
gay Knight fans deserve to be tortured.
>I'll freely admit the platforming/exploration is decent but nowhere as good as HK. Different strokes
What the fuck? HK has dogshit platforming/exploration. It's literally the game's weakest aspect, why do people pretend it's good at THAT? I swear i feel like i'm going to read someone saying Hollow Knight has a deep literary story next with how people jerk off it's worst qualities as the good parts of the game.
Rabi Ribi's exploration definitely takes a backseat to bosses, but the maps are at least fun to traverse as you unlock new abilities.
>i have honestly not been convinced that this game is actually any decent and not just loved solely because of underage anime girls
How exactly do you plan to be convinced of a game's quality based only on Ganker shitposting anyway? play the fucking game if you want to form a real opinion of it. Also if anything Rabi Ribi is loved despite it's aesthetic not because of it. you literally can't discuss the game at all without some limp wristed gay whining about the art.
im assuming off of not just shitposting, genuine constructive discussion, gameplay clips, and some sheer concepts that i dislike such as bullet hell combat in metroid-likes
i am going to play it eventually but its at very much the bottom of my list
> It's literally the game's weakest aspect, why do people pretend it's good at THAT?
Okay, why?
rabi ribi is actually good, the art style, story and characters suck ass i unironically played it just for the boss fights
Next thing you're going to tell me that people only post Shantae because she's a cute belly dancer.
>spiritual sequel

At this point the meme isn’t doing Team Cherry any favors and is pissing off the fan base more than anything. How hard would it be to make a blog post every three months telling people how development is going?
They also announced it earlier than they probably should have. Or maybe not; could be that SilkSong hype has gotten people who haven’t played HK to buy it. It’s amazing how consistently the game still shows up on the E Shop best sellers page.
>is pissing off the fan base more than anything
no it isn't.
>How hard would it be to make a blog post every three months telling people how development is going?
That's kind of what they were doing before, but completely stopped updating after christmas '19.

I think its coming out in a month
Should I play HK with keyboard or controller?
Whichever is better for you.
Thanks. I guess I'll buy a controller then. I already managed to do 112% with keyboard but I never felt it was too comfortable and everyone seems to play with controller.
>already beaten the game
>still asks for controller advice
bro what
I just wanted to know if it's better/easier with a controller.
2d platformers suck with kbm.
t. PC master race veteran
The difficult bosses and platforming sections in hollow knight are gonna require you to do a LOT of very fast dashing, jumping and attacking in different directions in very fast sequence. I started with keyboard but switched to a controller and rebound the attack and dash to R1 and R2 respectively just to give my thumb a break. Felt a lot more comfortable.
dont listen to them
The game is perfectly fine and equal on both keyboard and controller. Most speedrunners play on keyboard, even for runs without glitches. I myself beat the final pantheon with all bindings on keyboard and i never had an issue. my only recommendation is putting some things on the mouse, pure keyboard is worse.
>i never felt it was too comfortable
in that case then yeah try controller
its a very subjective thing though, claiming that one or the other is inherently bad is just retarded, theres no clear advantage or disadvantage to either of them.
literally what was the bloat? i found the content very well spaced with good quality. Only unsubstantial thing is Rancid Eggs, but these are genuinely irrelevant, if they do not improve the experience, they sure as hell dont worsen it.
HK's map size is great, i dont see why people would hate it. specially when the fast travel points are not only very handy but also perfectly thematically fitting
>I myself beat the final pantheon with all bindings on keyboard and i never had an issue
Man, all fucking binding at the same time? I can't beat radiance without getting hit, but beating him while doing fuck all damage, and all the other stuff seems insane. Congrats.
the absolute radiance was unironically not a tough part in that challenge, because you can practice pure vessel and her a lot, then carry a lot of Lifeblood. i beat p5 ab the first time i got to her
the hardest part was pretty much all the other bullshit
>just about a hour worth of bosses
>making small mistakes versus double damage bosses and dying
>unpredictable fights that can make mistakes domino with eachother (ex zote, no eyes) with much bigger difficulty increases than the other fights
>sheer frustration making me try to rush too hard and lose in the early fights
in retrospect i would have beaten it far faster if not for legitimate skill issue, i died a lot more times in the first half and its easier bosses than the last third.
>200+ hours
>still stuck on PoH no bindings
Its over
try the Quick Focus charm
also just practice the later superbosses on hall of gods
I found thay the game was too long for how little power ups there are in the game. There's like 3 or 4 actual upgrades that add to your movement and the rest are just those lame badges.
>4 movement abilities
>3 spells + upgrades
>3 miscellaneous progression tools (shade dash, isma's, tram pass)
>1 major progerssion tool (dream nail)
>3 nail arts
id say its pretty good
Keyboard is generally more precise if you can get used to it, but you can beat everything ingame that isn't modded fanmade bosses with a controller just fine
>t. someone who beat p5 no hit with controller
It really doesn't matter. Whichever one you're better with. I've played "controller" games on KBM all my life and never felt like I was missing anything.
controller is probably better. but its kbm is not the end of the world
I prefer the controller but you do you
They're fine-tuning Zote mode. Trust the plan.
2 more weeks insectbros
That's boptis, but I believe it.
They're probably going for the "a map that's TWICE as big as Hollow Knight" ambition thing despite the original already being too long.
its very clear that they have the feature-creep mentality. you could kinda feel the first game being bloated and its clear silksong is taking so long because they have no one to answer to and just keep deciding to add shit
but the game is made better with more content added
Did you gays cry about Cuphead taking so long?
I've never gotten upset by how long its taking, I know the game is coming out soon
With Starfield being delayed we've already seen the first "Garunteed out within a year" game failingg to make the deadline.
However I still think we're on for a mid-2023 release.
Todd Howard has nothing to do with TC, I don't get the connection people draw, I don't think they would backtrack on the window
It's less the connection between the two, and more that both games were confirmed by Xbox that come rain or shine, they would be out within a year.
While one getting delayed has very little connection of another getting delayed, it shows that it's possible now.
yea but the mass depression is just retarded, people are just accepting it as fact we won't get Silksong
Honestly after how long Team Cherry has been radio silent, that's the expectation they've set up for us. Either announce a release date or just announce that it's getting delayed so we can continue to not hold any expectations for TC actually finishing the game. The game was 100% announced way too early, a few years is fine but 4 years with barely anything to show for it besides like 10 minutes of gameply is naturally going to make people think your game is vaporware until you prove otherwise.
It's going to be released sometime this fall. They will announce it a month out from release, so don't expect it to suddenly show up soon. I would say announcement in September, October release. It will get a spot in Nintendo direct.
I don't care how long it takes, I just want to know if it's canceled or not. If it's dead and never coming out just tell me, don't leave me wondering forever.
At this point I feel like the reason for the log delay and absolute 0 communication is how fucking autistic some fans are.
100%, they seem pretty antisocial media in general, good for them but I wouldn't blame the creator of a popular game franchise for hating their autistic fans
>caring about this uwu chibi gay game or its sequel
I can't imagine what kind of stunted, feminized upbringing creates a "man" that enjoys Hollow Knight.
I'd wager the kinds of gays that love this queer pride party game also LOVE tranime.
I've never watched anime, I also grew up in Dixieland and I'm extremely antiwoke
I feel like they are playtesting this to death, or it's either a Terraria thing where they just keep adding new things.
I don't mind though
It's supposed to be out before June 12th of this year. Or at least that's what Microsoft said. Though I think they said the same about Starfield and we all know what happened there.
At this point they won't meet that deadline. It's probably gonna be late 2023 or early 2024.
Considering all of Hallownest is timelocked, does that mean Hornet hasn't reach full maturity as of HK?
>Considering all of Hallownest is timelocked
big if true
We may see hornets true form at the end of Silksong, similar to how we saw the Knight's however she's a cross between a weaver and a wyrm, so she could be extremely powerful.
>Wyrms are basically gods of bugs.
>Weavers use string to (possibly) control every single member of Farloom.
>Both are immensely strong and immensely dangerous.
>Hornet is the heir to two kingdoms.
what if the ending reveals hornet has an abdomen
Since she has the potential to produce silk, I'm gonna assume that she has an abdomen.
god i hope she does so i can get some good abdomen fucking art with her
I'm willing to wait if it turns out to be good.
SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT THIS GARBAGE chud GAME ALREADY, YOU FUCKING BETA MANLET gayS! ONLY FEMALES AND TRANNIES LIKE CUTESY BUG GAMES WITH GARBAGE GAMEPLAY!
>One Piece is going to end before Silksong comes out
How does that make you feel HKbros?
That's cool and all, but what the fuck happened to Hytale???
No one is interested in it anymore, Javachads didn't since the announcement and Bedrocklets are getting good updates as well.
With Microsoft gradually fucking up Minecraft, I think that now would be the perfect time for Hytale to drop some news or whatever. But they're retarded, it seems
I think that most of the team stopped working on it and went back to Hypixel while other just left the studio altogether.
Riot games bought hypixel and its either been quietly killed so they don't get sued by Microsoft or its undergoing massive changes.
>Hytale
That's not a Minecraft mod?
I wonder whats happening at cherry, didnt hollow knight only take 3 years or something?
How can a sequel with similiar mechanics/structure take longer than the game they had to come up with everything from scratch
they made more shit
Always get a kick out of an unemployed gay thinking he knows anything about game development
im a dev myself just not for vidya, I dont really mind the wait, if anything its impressive that the original hollow knight didnt take longer to make
The reason Hollow Knight came out the way it did is because they literally ran out of money. Unlike Hollow Knight’s development, Team Cherry have all the money they need to make the game they want to make. And given how much secrets were in Hollow Knight, everyone is expecting Pharloom to be massive. They’re probably playtesting the hell out of Silksong at the moment, since Silksong won’t have a quiet release Hollow Knight did.
Easy there with that copium anon. It's not healthy.
>states fact
>Easy there with that copium anon
Most of that post is headcanon. You have no clue about the stage of development they are in right now. You have no clue about the scope of the game. You have no clue about their financial status.
Hollow Knight took place in a dead kingdom in an empty series of ruins. Silksong has more animation with a populated environment, more dialogue and sidequest work with a protagonist that can actually talk, and they have to account for a more complicated moveset with a character that can use tools and attack at different angles.
That all said, maybe they're just taking their time and feature creep is setting in with all they want to add. They're not hurting for money anymore and don't have to rush a deadline, whereas the first game had to be released for them to be able to keep affording food.
Move aside.
You know nothing of Hell
Hey guys, Team Cherry’s stripper here,
The real reason it’s taking quite a bit is because Ari is busy animating the 30 minute primal raw sex scene between Hornet’s parents, you know, for the lorefags. Thanks for reading.
yooo lets goo
June is the last deadline before I abandon all hope.
small indie company, please understand
why would you play a metroidvania with 1 weapon? most overrated platformer of all time
Metroid has one weapon.
blaster
missile
waveshot
freeze shot
morph ball bomb
whats the point of having 999 weapons if your enemy and boss design is going to be braindead and boring as shit
lategame HK bosses are more dynamic and interesting than literally the entire genre
You gays still waiting on this? You know it's never coming out, right? Might as well wait for HL3.
Soon
people only like this game because the art style me included
It's a pretty vital part of it, but I also just liked the feeling of getting lost and stumbling onto something neat.
hey, I was waiting for a hollow knight thread. Check this out : I just finished 3D printing and painting it.
oh damn, nice work anon
there is also another HK thread on //trash/ from what i checked
Neat
Silksong's release date will be officially announced during Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest, which spans from June 8th, 2023 to June 11th, 2023.
You're welcome.

>Radiance
>Final boss
>Only 8 different attacks
vs. enough attack patterns to fill 20 whole minutes
Honestly i think the later Rabi-Ribi bosses take it too far sometimes. If you want to show off the game's good parts i'd say some of the mid game bosses make for a better spectacle to outsiders.
i don't play hollow knight either but
>anime e-bois in the video thumbnail
i will now never play your """game"""
thanks for proving my point from earlier.
ive cut to 8 different points in the video. In all of these, the boss was mostly standing still or just moving left and right independant of the player's actions, while the screen is filled with bullets. meanwhile the player literally just throws some basic bitch projectiles with no animation/a '' press x to cool lol '' move.
Thats precisely what feels crappy and cheap. It doesnt feel like you are interacting with an enemy in an interesting way. Yeah there are enough patterns to fill 20 minutes because its fucking cheap shit, theres not even any interesting attacks, they are all repeated generic blobs spammed without much thought. There are some bullet hell games that do the direct opposite of this, an excellent example is Undertale and Deltarune. The attacks are not just shitty generic blobs, they represent objects and have substantial art and creativity behind them. Look at a fight like spamton, its so much more visually appealing, exciting and non-repetitive. And of course, it doesnt have as many patterns as that rabi ribi boss, because its not cheap trash.
I dont wanna fire shitty projectiles as the boss stands around doing literally fucking nothing other than spawn projectiles magically. I want to slash them, i want weighty impactful feeling spells, i want the boss to charge towards me and do real attacks with solid animations, and move in interesting manners, like Grey Prince Zote does. If you seriously cant get what i mean, and sees nothing in Hollow Knight's bosses that Rabi Ribi doesnt have, then i genuinely feel bad for your braincells.
Basing your opinion on an optional post game superboss on the highest difficulty probably isn't doing you any favors, see
for a better example of a boss that sounds like it'd be more your speed.
Might just be a difference in taste then
I barely remember any of Hollow Knight's bosses and had to look up Prince Zote and even then I don't remember fighting him. For me, what Hollow Knight does best is having a really big world to explore (which I wish had more fast travel points). The combat and bosses weren't really the selling point
prince zote was a secret fight, you probably didn't fight him
Assuming we get the game released roughly the same time as the summer games festival, what's happened in the last 4 years? What's changed with you since you first played HK, and when you'll first play Silksong?
I started college and I'm almost about to graduate.
