40k's glory days are long gone. It's time to let it die already, anons...peak 40k will never return. We need to give attention to other games.

>other games.
Such as?
Historicals, heavy gear, dropzone/dropfleet, etc...plenty of underrepresented but great wargames out there to sink your teeth into.
The peak was 2nd and 3rd editions. 4th was also p good. Shit started going downhill around 5th ed
So talk about them. Make a general, some megas, make some info graphs.
>do the work for me
not your personal army, scum
>We need to give attention to other games.
>Does not give attention to other games.
Enjoy the bed you made for yourself I guess.
Nope, not gonna waste my time typing articles for the retards and paid 'current GW' shills to scream about, I am to busy playing with my 1st ed beakies. Do something for the passion you have for it, nit to get likes and reassurance from strangers.
There are generals and megas you absolute fucking retard. This does not change that these games do not get enough attention compared to 40k. Check the fucking catalog.
>peak was 2nd and 3rd editions
2nd and 3rd editions have almost nothing in common.
>40k's glory days are long gone
True.
>We need to give attention to other games.
Blatant lie, only shill for another game would say this.
What was the peak of 40k? Depending on your answer I'll laugh at you or... no, I'll probably just laugh at you because you'll probably say RT.
That's an interesting question and I think it depends what you're looking for.
Late RT has an attraction because that's arguably when the RPG/'dirty' roots were still sort of there, and it had a feel that anything could go.
2nd is when I REALLY started actually playing 40k rather than move my space crusade, heroquest, other boardgame pieces and various model kits (including GW's) around according to the RT book as the proto-wargamer I was becoming. The style and feel was top notch, still had a nod to RPG's but was definitely more of a larger wargame than rules for a sci fi shootout. Some of my best memories are here, though how much is the game and how much is just late-teen guys dicking about when we still had time and imagination is another debate.
3rd ed - as much as I dreaded the "over simplification" I thought was coming, 'black book' games were so smooth it was unreal, such a breath of fresh air compared to late 2nd. Almost a shame the codexes had to start coming out really...
I drifted away there, didn't come back until - somewhere around 7th, I think (lost track of all the numbers)? Can still get some fun, but nowhere what I got from those. I am older and more jaded now, of course.
>we
I have never given 40K any attention beyond an idle curiosity in its shitty lore, and ever since I learned D&D 5e actually sucks, I have focused on making games.
wrong audience tbh, /tg/ is full of people that require the accessibility provided by GW's scale and popularity to be able to participate in the miniatures wargaming hobby
No we don't. The glory days continue every time I play a game of 1st-3rd edition and nothing you will do will stop me. Fuck you James.
Or me and my buddies can still run our favorite version/interpretation of the lore, while printing our own models, and you can go fuck yourself.
The lore sucks ass, anon.
You're pretending GW hasn't shotgunned both of its own legs off and manages to keep going due to paypigs who are obsessed with shitty memes about space marines killing things ad nauseum
>We need to give attention to other games.
They've all shotgunned their entire leg off.
You...are aware now are in era where it's easier then ever to just play version of 40k you enjoy? Like you want old models, but don't wanna pay nonsense prices? Come to /grog/ we can hook you up with some alternatives.
You want simpler game, but still with 40k models? /awg/ got their one page rules
You want older edition? Plenty of options
You want your own fluff? Ok, just do it.
you should definitely sell your 40k collection on ebay
and you should sell it cheap, to make sure it all goes
and with competitive shipping prices
you know, to show how serious you are about quitting
I already did that
dang
so what game are you into now, or thinking about getting into?
and do they have a good starting box or a healthy secondary market
I collected a little bit of battletech because it's cheap, it's not the best wargame but it's better than 40k
Now I'm eying heavy gear and chain of command. Heavy gear has some decent starter boxes, chain of command is mini agnostic and also scale agnostic so starter boxes aren't necessary
thanks, I might look into heavy gear
however, I can't have a third game abbreviated to CoC in my life, so that one's out
