For real. They released the ironjawz in 2016 and they still sit at 3 units. Meanwhile, Para bellum released the W'adrun in 2021 and they have 8 units already, with a list of 20 entries.

AoS literally exists because they wanted to nuke a superior setting to add Marinewank

        Anonymous

No, it's that almost every faction is half-baked and lacking options aside from the ones that are clearly the writers' pets (Lumineth, Stormcast)
So if you don't like those you're basically fricked because, as most other armies show, you can go multiple editions with only a single model and minor rules changes at most.

          Anonymous

Funnily enough AoS has begun to add more of Fantasy's rules back like having to stay in tank and file and codifying what a command group is, with each unit that can take a champion, musician, and standard bearer tell you that a witch elf high stripper is the unit's champion or a gloryhole blower is the musician instead of just saying that one thot can be upgraded to a stripper.

Really? I thought the model's poses were too... dynamic to put them into ranks. As in they're holding their weapons out to the sides and such. Compared to the old models that were designed to fit together.

              Anonymous

Only certain sized units need to stay tight. 10+ models and each guy needs to be within I think an inch of two other guys.
Also you're correct with that example. It's a b***h to use my SC! guys as a blob and I would have been happier with that box if it was just the old kits+karkadrak lord

                Anonymous

It's not 10+, but rather over 6+. Which again mirrors the Fantasy rule where if a unit gets reduced enough it becomes a loose order skirmisher(granted, it's for the sole survivor usually).

          Anonymous

I liked rank formations as well, both because of the gameplay and because unit fillers are fricking rad. Guessing artillery range I'm fine with, unless you are one of those fricking turds who deliberately overshoots your supposed target in order to hit a unit you shouldn't even be able to see. Part of the problem with fantasy was that there were so many abusable rules - like being able to declare a charge against warp-lightning cannons from anywhere on the table and forcing them to flee.

        Anonymous

AoS is going to die because Warhammer fans care more about settings than games, and because AoS isn't a setting worth caring about. The general audience only ever brings it up as trivia that their favourite Legendary Lord from TWW2 got revived and brought back in it.

My local gaming store undersells online by 10% and he's selling crates of the stuff every week. Just last week or so I'm guessing there was some big release because he shipped off 5 full pallet crates or warhams in 1 day.

Probably. The store owner's prior job was as an accountant and the job before that went under because of tax fraud. He definitely has a skill set.

But it's not like he's the only online store that undersells warhammer. Hell, just searching for online stores has the first 3 results doing the same thing. At least for Australia.

Most stores in my country with an online presence offer between 10 and 20% off on GW stuff and even my shitty neighbourhood LGS that's 90% CCGs gives 10% on their stuff.

literally no store in my country sells without a huge discount. I've just recently found a store that sells Combat Patrol boxes for around $70 and the usual price here is $85 which is still a steal when compared to what GW asks for those. I've never seen a store that would want more for Citadel products than GW does (which is $100 for a Combat Patrol box, yes GW wants me to pay 100 USD for it, while asking americans to pay 150).

this is correct on both points. very broad generalization for things sold in game / hobby shops:
        >most toys, games and models retail for about double the store's cost
        >RC and electronics, particularly higher price points, have lower markups
        >point of purchase shit, cheap toys and hobby supplies are sold for 3x to 6x their unit cost
        >TCGs generating a ton of income for relatively little effort is extremely common and one of the main reasons you can find them behind every counter

obviously as a FLGS you have quite a lot of overhead though, so you still need to move a lot of product to stay afloat. the fact that MSRP for most things is 50% markup is the reason online sellers (with more customers and less overhead) can generally undercut by 25% or more and still do fine.

Can't see those prices, can't compared it to my local store, it looks like a few of those might actually be originally more expensive then buying directly from GWs, but a few of those might be nabbed by some DnD players since they are cheaper then buying shitty DnD minis (not as cheap as good third party stuff, but that is online only usually)

                >people get back pain because they spend their whole life not doing physical exercise hunched over a desk
yeah I guess that's why most people with back pain you meet are in construction or other physical labor. makes sense.
I get that you're only 10 years old or whatever, but if you talk to people you'll quickly find that basically everyone with back pain can trace it to a specific injury. usually something dumb you did when you were about 20, be it lifting a couch, football injury, car accident, jumping out the back of a truck, whatever. people who settle in to a desk job won't re-injure it very often, but if most of your work days involve lifting things you will keep hurting that same spot for the rest of your life

your back doesn't ever really heal completely, and once something gets pushed too far it's soft forever. bad posture might exacerbate a back problem I suppose, and a bad recurring one can certainly force people to be more sedentary, but that's not where it starts.

you are fricking moronic stop doubling down.
I have both perspectives of knowledge people who do desk work and weightlifting.
People who do traditional desk work develop hunchbacks and spinal problems like back pain.
Weight lifting corrects posture and strengthen your core muscles, Its practically like a girdle reinforcing your spine.
Even sitting straight in a chair will reinforce your spine. Its why they sell standing desks now because standing strengthens your core and is the equivalent of exercise.
The human body is not a machine, it doesnt have mileage and wear out. It gets stronger the more it works, bones get stronger, muscles get stronger, vascular system improves etc.
People telling other people that hard work and exercise is bad for them is bad advice, its coping mental gymnastic by lazy modern people.
If you lift weights you will correct your back and get a stronger back and not suffer back pain, you'll retain 75% of your strength into old age.
Exercise is good for you. Fullstop.

Most of the people I know with back and knee problems are soldiers who spent too much time with too much of that juicy core-strengthening weight on their backs but do continue. The machine analogy is an apt one. Do you know what else machines under heavy use do? Wear out.

Yeah I was an infantry dude and almost everyone I know had problems with various cartilage, tendons, or ligaments. These parts of you absolutely wear out and/or don't recover completely from injury.

By the end of my Afghanistan deployment we had multiple people walking with canes in their mid 20's.

it isn't and is dehumanising and fails to understand biology and physiology.
Humans don't need replacement parts, they heal and repair damage and get stronger unlike a machine. Humans are made to work hard and grow from it.

When a machine wears out the parts do not heal and get stronger and better at their jobs.

This may come as a shock, my spoiled little child, but real work isn't "correct exercise" and if you were capable of reading beyond a first grade level you'd understand that the entire argument you've been screaming at has been that ACTUAL WORK wears a person out. But maybe you're right. Maybe the entire field of physical therapy is wrong and stupid and all the people I know just need to toughen up and hit the gym so their disks will magically become uncompressed.

Doing real stretches and mild calisthenics really will preserve you. Inversion tables are especially good for decompressing your spine and hips. My grandfather did not have such a thing but why would I not use it? There are guys around my age that I work with who are torn up and old guys who have been injured forever and none of them do any exercise besides sometimes doing benchpress or playing football. No bad back or hips on me and I do the same work.

I'm a weightlifter. There absolutely is. When I squat, the load is designed to be lifted and I'm not travelling. When I lift and carry a heavy object at work, it is not necessarily designed for lifting and there are all kinds of factors which may cause me to trip or place undue strain on my back as I travel. The environments are entirely different and you'd know that if you either worked or exercised.

You are saying the worst case scenario, having an accident means physical labour is bad.
This is like saying driving cars is bad because you can crash.
                >furniture removal

                >The human body is not a machine, it doesnt have mileage and wear out. It gets stronger the more it works, bones get stronger, muscles get stronger
I was initially tempted to make fun of how painfully naive this is, but it actually made me tear up a little thinking about it. you never really recapture that teenager confidence again after the first time life gives you a good slap. it's sweet in a way.

                >Weight lifting corrects posture and strengthen your core muscles
to a point that's true, yeah. and you're not wrong that standing and good posture are healthy practices.
heavy labor and weightlifting aren't the same thing though, and nobody with "perspective" would suggest as much.

                >If you lift weights you will correct your back and get a stronger back and not suffer back pain, you'll retain 75% of your strength into old age
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but even if you work out every day you'll be lucky to maintain 75% of your strength in to your mid-30s.

                >Exercise is good for you. Fullstop.
again, to a point. even if working out is much safer than working, you absolutely will meet people who have hurt themselves at the gym by pushing it too far or doing things too often. just listen to people. there's a reason every older guy you know will tell you to take care of your back and your knees. that sentiment doesn't come from nowhere.

the statement is less one about age than youth
you think we don't understand how you feel? like we were never there? lifting for hours every day, filling your three seasons with football, wrestling and track, driving your beat to shit MR2, partying with your bros and just generally going through life like a great white shark made of atomic fire. and that unshakeable confidence that you'll never get old, never change, certainly never be the unlucky guy the falls off a ladder or wraps his car around a utility pole.

that's just not how it goes though. shit happens. and even if you don't ever get hurt somehow, when you're in your mid-30s you're giving 50 hours of your week to your job, 60 to your kids, and even if you keep up a routine of exercising every day - which you should - you absolutely won't retain that strength. nobody does, not even the guys doing heavy shit 40 hours a week. and don't even get me started on what happens to speed. you'll be just a couple years out of school and jump in on one of those 5k charity runs and suddenly you're clocking over 20 mins. a few years later you're at like 22+, slower than the JV girls were. and when you finally do have more of your free time back in your 40s you can take on a more aggressive routine again, but you never get back to that. not even close.

picture. The thread in question had a bunch of Americans making excuses as to why they couldn't walk half an hour and most of them blamed stroads. My use of stroad doesn't stem from climate change dogwhistles, it stems from either Americas shit infrastructure or Americas scapegoat to excuse their laziness

Maybe AoS's faultering has more to do with the game simply not being very good, having models that are horrible to assemble and hard to convert, and being insultingly expensive. I ordered two boxes of these from Germany and with the inflated shipping that cost more than the boxes it was still $45 for close to 100 figures while that money gets you anywhere ten guys at best.
More and more people have less and less money and 40k is simply being chosen over AoS. I wish it were higher consumer consciousness but no, people still have dog brains after the newest thrown ball.

No anon, 1/72 is a scale that's significantly smaller than 28mil figures which are themselves usually at 1/54 give or take.
I also have some IMEX Mexican soldiers at 1/72 that call them 25mm figures and that's why I don't trust mm scaling anymore.
For what it's worth there's just so much variety out there for this scale of toy soldier, and they're fricking cheap. Linear-a was just considerably more expensive than say Alliance's own Amazons which I still need to get to.

28mm is whatever the manufacturer says it is.
Both Historical Perrys, Warlord miniatures, Games Workshop's new chaos warriors, and Wargames Atlantic's Lizardmen are technically "28mm". Even though they're wildly inconsistent across ranges and sometimes the different kits from the same manufacturer for the same army as a unit add-on also vary. It's a mess.

                Anonymous

The reason for this is that people do not ask what is being measured, up to the tip of the head or eye level? Pay attention that "1" head level is at "2" eye level. At least that what it looks like while approximating visually, the base heights are different. And the infinity model is cheating because that is an old model that has been replaced now. Infinity are at true 30mm nowadays. Which is weird to obsess over since the difference in height is still less extreme between 30mm and 28mm than what exists irl.

    Continuation

Believe it or not some people do labour as a hobby but you cant fathom that can you lying dumbass

THIS is why you are disingenuous. How does "some people do it as a hobby' any counter argument to "hard work on average is perilous and many cases of long term issues are tied to labor and its accidents".
    This is why i left

If you need to use the word "some" instead of "all" then you have already lost the argument you disingenuous frick. You do understand that what you fundamentally said is "some people do labor as a hobby therefore no one does labor as a job and all physical labor are just hobbies in disguise".

Because if you did NOT say that ALL or MAJORITY of laborers are hobbyists means your argument is about rare exceptions and therefore can not be used as a counter argument to the original point. Therefore my comment was not a strawman you dishonest, five seconds memory having bastards! You MUST mean that all or at the very least most of hard labor is a hobby conspiracy for this to work as a counter argument!

Shut up you dunning-kruger moron. You lost the argument.
Yes some people do physical labour as a hobby which invalidates the idea that all physical labour is bad. Since they wouldn't be doing it if they didn't enjoy it you mentally ill fool.

Yes some people do physical labour as a hobby which invalidates the idea that all physical labour is bad.
How does that invalidate it? If there is a causation between trauma/overloading and labor, then some people who do it and avoided the consequences is survivorship bias. Also how exactly do people who do it as a hobby afford to pay their bills? Most of your time goes into the job to earn the paycheck meaning that hobbytime is part time. YOU ARE PRETENDING THAT " some people doing it part time and are k" is in the same league as working FULL TIME in an unergonomic environment relative to a gym.
You forgot tyhe initial point and went doubling down that hard labor on average is perfectly safe by using EXCEPTIONAL and relatively rare circumstances. THIS IS WHY YOU ARE INTELLECTUALLY DISHONEST.

Already explain that "gym is bad" was never the original argument, the original argument was that hard labor is dangerous and it is not rare to damage yourself by overextension, and gym/hobbyists are not the same as a 9 to 5.You completely forgot what was argued and switched to arguing against "gym is bad" because your dishonesty pivoted you into completely different train of thought.

          Anonymous

That was already destroyed as a shitty strawman. That manual labour is inherently dangerous or crippling all the time. If it is thats another issue, work safety. Its apples and oranges.
In fact exercise will better prepare you for work and exercise prevents back pain and crippling injury from a sedentary lifestyle

            Anonymous

            There was no strawman.
            >That manual labour is inherently dangerous

It literally is, you do not need a 100% crippling wound rate to be considered dangerous or true.
This is more dishonesty on your part
            >In fact exercise will better prepare you for work and exercise prevents back pain and crippling injury from a sedentary lifestyle

Anon, why are people that do labor all day considered to have a sedentary life style?
Why do you need preparation if labor is not dangerous?
How does sedentary lifestyle=bad any counter agument that hard labor is dangerous?
Please read my previous posts i literally break everything down post by post. What was the original argument and how you pivoted to a different topic entirely.
You people are trolling or doubling down on your error that stemmed from never doing labor, because that is the only way that you could think that going to the gym is anywhere comparable to having a strainuous job.
It does not matter that there are lifters that lift hundreds of pounds, when their performance would take a nose dive the moment you remove optimal body positioning and perfect leverage that exists only in the gym. Once you step into labor "featherwight" excercises of cement bags multiplied by the lack of gym ergonomics, multiplied by time of going going to work all day every day will eventually take its toll.

      Anonymous

Anon, when you do not have levarage small weights become disproportionally difficult to handle. If you lift 30-40kg no problem you will begin to struggle to lift steel sheets 1.5meter x 1meter because the shape of it becomes a lever against YOU! You do not get a convenient handlebar with the entire weight of that thing nested conveniently against the hadlebar. This goes for everything non optimal, even cement bags. Maybe you will not notice too much extreme much difference
from doing it once, but work never demand you only do it once. Day by day every day it compounds.
Anon, how do you not know this if you did Labor in your life? I now know for a fact the reason you go to the gym is because your life is just too easy otherwise. That is not the mark of badassery for you, it is proof that you are spoiled or very young and do not know the difference between going to the gym and long term labor.
