I hope the next xpac will be a fresh new adventure. I love the story about amaurot, emet, etc. but I want some more grounded one this time.
Given 6.2 and likely also 6.3 is us vs. the 13th shard and also not-Golbez/the archfiends, we're either going to the void finally and fully for 7.X after eons of build-up to once and for all unfrick it up, go to the New World, or we finally go to Dragon Land at last.
Either that, or one of the remaining ascians that we haven't seen since 2.X that didn't get offed by Gaius will cause some bullshit and that leads to where we go for 7.X because they aren't dead until one of the main characters confirms the bodies at last.
Sometimes I want FF more DQ-like.

ARR is more fun than everything after. ARR is a story heavy mmorpg. The rest is a VN with a little bit mmo like gameplay til you reach endgame.

I think by now it's less "it'll blow it out by being good", and more-so the age-old tradition Blizzard has always done of "release a new patch/expansion whenever any competition tries to do anything major to shut it down and keep the throne damn the consequences as it's all they have left" as per the norm. And typically if any MMO does anything WoW doesn't do, Blizzard will 95% of the time copy that thing and make a shittier version of it to ensure the sunk cost fallacy oldgays lost to time never actually leave the game.
The expansion that nobody is excited for isn't going to be killing anything but itself.
