Vira was initially really popular because she was at the time, a very deep multifaceted character for a gacha game. This is relative and she might not hold up anymore but the bar was much lower then, characters even having a generic filler personality was optional in gacha and when they had a personality it was often very one note
Because she was so popular she got a ton of support. And they had to develop her character, but her fanbase was huge and liked different parts of her character
So for a bit she was developing into a mature older sister type love interest, which alienated the yuri and yandere community

The process happened over years so it's a bit of work to place where a lot of characters began eating into her popularity. Nier in particular didn't come out until Vira's fanbase was largely dead even though she put the nail in the coffin, but Silva going yuri was somewhere in the middle of it. Even people who were into her, then very popular voice actor, got Friday.
Vira went from the character with the most popularity poll wins in the game to someone who usually isn't even mentioned in Granblue discussions anymore.

you're way too fixated on the idea of winning and losing. it's a 1v1 game so when you lose then it's all on you. get comfortable with that fact especially since you're a newbie and look further into the loss, what you did wrong, what could be better, etc.

Blue Archive is the play if you can stand the younger cast. I actually quit because I was hungry for adult women, but it should satisfy most people looking for a waifu gacha.
A lot of games like Nikke suffer these days from being waifu gachas but still wanting to be taken seriously. I did triple crown her and she's still my overworld wife with a jank ass Melt team I just nevered bothered with Abyss past Floor 11. I still use her religiously it just stings that she's really not the best at anything. At least Furina lets me vape her burst reliably now.

Artstyle is good, but there is not 1 (one[singular]) interesting character design in the whole game.

Original “died” because no rollback and covid stopped in person tournaments, although in NA and JP you can still find matches pretty easily. If it gives you confidence, the open beta for this had over 10k concurrent players on steam, which is already 3x what the peak was of the first game
It's hard to say. People constantly forget in discussion that the original Versus actually sold really well despite having the most fricked release in fighting game history bar none.
Rising gets to release under actual favourable circumstances but it doesn't have the hype of the original backing it which might enough to kill it. The Granblue property isn't popular anymore and people won't be picking it up just for the codes like they did.
The problem, like you said, is that granblue isn't nearly as popular as it was during versus release, so the "guaranteed sales" that gacha codes provide will be a hell of a lot smaller. At the very least we know that preorders aren't looking good right now, so it may well actually do worse than the iriginal

This costume looks good but her tummy is so unusually flat and plain that it's a bit distracting. Not asking for her to have chiseled abs or anything but for there to be a bit more detail beyond a bellybutton.
The costumes are going to be such a mess though. Even among the obvious most shilled characters that are in the roster, a lot of them just dont have a lot of costumes, and for the female characters that do, they are often revealing or straight up swimsuits. You also cant exactly do a costume for CheVira so hers would be limited to the base form, the thing you want to leave as fast as possible
Yuel can get her original costume, but that shows way too much skin for the limpdicks at arcsys/sony/cygames, so the most she can get is her SR version. For the matter every other version of Yuel barely wears anything
Zoi can get the GUNdam costume and maybe the Zodiac one, but thats about it
Katalina only has her christmas costume, too revealing, new years kimono, probably wouldnt work at all with her animations. So the only things that work are the casino dress and that promotional outfit from the blu rays of the anime
Ferry is in a decent spot just like Naru, she has her base SR costume, Halloween and dark SSR versions. Maybe they can squeeze in the concert skin

I started learning fighting games on GBFV because a bunch of my friends are fighter gays and have been trying to get me to come play with them for a year. I barely got the basics down before they were hounding me to play SF6 too.
I can't pin down a single reason why I don't like it. The characters just give me weird uncanny valley vibes. The weird paint effects, the menus, and the music just makes me think that Capcom is desperate to appeal to what they think Americans like. The character's kits just feel like they don't have much there to them. It's not a "bad" game per se, but I still refunded it.

Somewhat realistically proportioned characters should never move the way sf6 characters move. Back in V when they looked like playdough it didn't look as bad, it actually looked good. Tekken8 does the best job of animating realistic characters to the outer borders of what's acceptable in ways that don't strain the brain.
MK11 and MKOne also do a poorer job. Orientals just have animations down much much better than westerners due to the proximity to their gigantic anime industry and there being crossover in experience and relations, just look at how Strive and GBVR are animated. >b-but SF6 is made by asians

It IS as dumbed down as Strive, but it's much better designed in spite of that. It helps that it's the more developed sequel to an new game rather than being the accessible new entry to a venerated property.
As a fighter the game is oriented around footsies and corners and strong universal mechanics. So it just simplifies the footsie fighter down into: footsies at midscreen, whoever wins gets a totally free corner carry then gets to take their turn. Reversing the situation resets to neutral on no resources, or reversing the corner/wall to wall carrying with resources to take a turn.
its a simple game.

Its dumbed down like strive but in a different way. You just learn how to hit confirm your light and medium hits into special moves. Some characters have midscreen options out of those special moves but otherwise, you spend 25% of your meter to use an ultimate version because every character has a move where the ultimate version gives midscreen combo extension.
Gran for example, you can land something like 5M midscreen and you can either autocombo or go straight into ultimate skill Boot which gives a floor bounce and you can go 5M again into EX fireball for corner carry. Once you figure out your midscreen BnB, everything else is just using your tools for pressure
it's a different gameish. she's one of the few characters who very easily retains plus frames because of 214a knocking down, she builds meter like crazy, her 66B in conjunction with her luminera are really good for neutral along with how moronic U.luminera is. shes one of the characters that get the crumble from 66C which leads to huge damage which is what the beta meta was pretty much just dumping resource for big dam.
I'm not saying she'll definitely be top 5 or anything since fighting games develop and people get better but she looked strong from the limited time we got to play.

It's hard to say. People constantly forget in discussion that the original Versus actually sold really well despite having the most fricked release in fighting game history bar none.
Rising gets to release under actual favourable circumstances but it doesn't have the hype of the original backing it which might enough to kill it. The Granblue property isn't popular anymore and people won't be picking it up just for the codes like they did.

Even among the obvious most shilled characters that are in the roster, a lot of them just dont have a lot of costumes, and for the female characters that do, they are often revealing or straight up swimsuits. You also cant exactly do a costume for CheVira so hers would be limited to the base form, the thing you want to leave as fast as possible
Yuel can get her original costume, but that shows way too much skin for the limpdicks at arcsys/sony/cygames, so the most she can get is her SR version. For the matter every other version of Yuel barely wears anything
Zoi can get the GUNdam costume and maybe the Zodiac one, but thats about it
Katalina only has her christmas costume, too revealing, new years kimono, probably wouldnt work at all with her animations. So the only things that work are the casino dress and that promotional outfit from the blu rays of the anime

I started learning fighting games on GBFV because a bunch of my friends are fighter gays and have been trying to get me to come play with them for a year. I barely got the basics down before they were hounding me to play SF6 too.
I can't pin down a single reason why I don't like it. The characters just give me weird uncanny valley vibes. The weird paint effects, the menus, and the music just makes me think that Capcom is desperate to appeal to what they think Americans like. Somewhat realistically proportioned characters should never move the way sf6 characters move. Back in V when they looked like playdough it didn't look as bad, it actually looked good. Tekken8 does the best job of animating realistic characters to the outer borders of what's acceptable in ways that don't strain the brain.
MK11 and MKOne also do a poorer job. Orientals just have animations down much much better than westerners due to the proximity to their gigantic anime industry and there being crossover in experience and relations, just look at how Strive and GBVR are animated.

Dualsense and DualShock 4 use bluetooth, and due to japanese magic, they work better on bluetooth than without it. Dualsense is also the greatest normal controller of all times.
i didnt have bluetooth on my motherboard at the time, and it would drop inputs both wired and using bluetooth (using like 3 different dongles). Morso on bluetooth because i had to disable vibrations, or else it would drop even more inputs.
i imagine theyd work better now that my motherboard has built in bluetooth, but i got rid of them years ago

It IS as dumbed down as Strive, but it's much better designed in spite of that. It helps that it's the more developed sequel to an new game rather than being the accessible new entry to a venerated property.
As a fighter the game is oriented around footsies and corners and strong universal mechanics. So it just simplifies the footsie fighter down into: footsies at midscreen, whoever wins gets a totally free corner carry then gets to take their turn. Reversing the situation resets to neutral on no resources, or reversing the corner/wall to wall carrying with resources to take a turn.
its a simple game.

You can literally just hit XXX auto>special linker>XXX auto>special linker>XX auto>meter/meterless ender and be practically (but not fully) optimized
Its dumbed down like strive but in a different way. You just learn how to hit confirm your light and medium hits into special moves. Some characters have midscreen options out of those special moves but otherwise, you spend 25% of your meter to use an ultimate version because every character has a move where the ultimate version gives midscreen combo extension.
Gran for example, you can land something like 5M midscreen and you can either autocombo or go straight into ultimate skill Boot which gives a floor bounce and you can go 5M again into EX fireball for corner carry. Once you figure out your midscreen BnB, everything else is just using your tools for pressure
It is, but it was designed from the ground up with that in mind without whatever Frankenstein frick Strive ended up being.

it's a different gameish. she's one of the few characters who very easily retains plus frames because of 214a knocking down, she builds meter like crazy, her 66B in conjunction with her luminera are really good for neutral along with how moronic U.luminera is. shes one of the characters that get the crumble from 66C which leads to huge damage which is what the beta meta was pretty much just dumping resource for big dam.
I'm not saying she'll definitely be top 5 or anything since fighting games develop and people get better but she looked strong from the limited time we got to play.

To me the pace and movement feel the same but the new mechanics really make the game feel a lot better on all fronts.
Much more different than anyone expected. It's still a footsies oriented game but it's much more aggressive between new mechanics, more combo extension options, and all the meter. It should definitely be viewed as a sequel and not just a title update like everyone was expecting like jumping Blazblue versions.

I don't think it'll be too bad. It's true that the hat isn't a massive bump in height, but I'm fairly certain Yoda is actually the tallest harvin in the game to start so they can just stretch him out some extra pixels. He's probably the most iconic harvin left by quite a margin, Katzelia is like the only other male harvin of any note and the female harvins remaining largely form a single popularity bloc where people just like them as an indistinct e-girl glob instead of as individual characters.
Nio is harp diversity and also floats like Uno, I wouldn't be surprised if she got in. I mean Uno got in for forced diversity so anyone can, also if Faa and Sandals are in season 1, I figure they might save Siete for season 2

He's also the strongest of the group by far, and serious Siete is actually scary and a force of destruction so no one wants to see him go all out. He's also the one holding the group together since, as seen in alternate timelines, everyone else is fricking crazy or fricking dies if they're not together. He can also go blue and has great control of it, to the point where, in other timelines, he's basically the blue god as they're one and the same at that point.

They added more uses for meter, alpha counters, dash attacks and unblockable attacks that cost a special resource.

Probably. He's a tank and his whole thing is mitigation through buffs, debuffs, counter, self sustain, etc, while also having a huge steroid buff that he can use under certain conditions.
His main ponts on SSR are tanking, getting huge DMG buff based on how low his HP is and then his big skill is full heal into even bigger buffs when he hits critical HP

He's gotten much better in recent years. He's probably the most developed of the bunch, either him or Percival.
Ever since his 5* uncap and the chickadee events where he gets his own trainee squad to lead he's gotten a lot better at not punching himself down. Yeah he's still tied to a group but he gets to actually be a character in those events, and he's like the 2nd most developed homoknight after Percival, since Sieg is too autistic for development and Lancelot will never ever get any fricking development ever and remain a boring sack of shit.
