60% of all gaming revenue is from mobile games

Very surprising, how is mobile gaming changing the industry? Mobile gaming must have a big sway in how developers make and monetise their games.

Console gaming makes as much money as pc gaming and mobile is way ahead.

I guess this is why Sony wants half of their games to be on mobile and pc in 2030 and why Microsoft is making a mobile game store for android and iOS.

MS noticed this a decade ago and wanted everyone to have a digital xbox library that was sharable and also would grant access to pc games of those same titles. Sony and fans literally revolted and told them it was a terrible idea. Now here we are, ever closer to that same thing for everyone.

Consoles totals never reach PC if you remove the subscription costs that console gaming has. Everyone includes it, as it should be, but it makes consoles get a $100-250 per sub boost, which equates to billions.

brown mud golems who would have never owned a console or desktop pc are now able to consume digital media
personally i would prefer not to make media that targets or caters to this demographic as it would contribute to the devolution of the medium 🙂

I agree with this anon 100%. I do not play mobile games at all, partially because of this.
thinking on it now, it's surprising how frequently PC and console gamers are at each other's throats, but chances are that they can at least agree that mobile games are a plague. dark times ahead.

Consoles and PC pats are very cheap in third world countries but smartphones have more prestige. This reminds me of the people who purchase knock off designer brands. If the only reason you like something is because the name of the brand it just tells me that you need to grow up and get a life.

The main character looks like this , a gay hooker and the introduction is painful, I tried playing it three times and got filtered.
I think this and the way they promote the game kills potential downloads. If they had a better understanding of the western market, fixed the massive storage space issue, walls of text and way characters look and behave they could easily be number 1.

I was able to go through hours of the genshin clone tower of fantasy (till I got bored and looked at the cutscenes), but genshin ugh ugh ugh. It suffers from too much text and poor writing in general, honokai star rail whilst better still sucks dick, felt like a rip off lord of heros. Despite the bigger budget is overall worse in every single way.

Also I just gotta say that there should be more customisation in mobile games. Dragon raja has awsome customisaton but most games including tower of fantasy don't even try lol.

This makes sense, around 2008-2013 there was a massive exodus of people from the gambling and casino industry and they proliferated throughout the vidya game industry. It's why every single thing has a micro transaction or addictive (but non-fun) tint to it. It's why most of you feel miserable playing your F2p products but can't stop playing them. The older I get the more I understand why so many nations ban gambling, it truly is evil.

Hey zoomers in the thread, do you remember transferring from playing shitty games on some touchscreen tablet or phone to playing games that don't have objectively terrible controls? I can't believe anyone could go back, so they must just keep most people from every trying right?

Brother the controls are easier on mobile and the skill gap is a lot lower. It is understandable why peoppe play pubg mobile and other fps games on their phones. Lot less sweaty and a lot easier to play with the aimbot thwt helps. I honestly like playing fortnite on my phone.

I've always got dolphin, citra, ppsspp or something up. Even keep a nice slim foldable controller accessory in my work bag or back pocket. No, I just find the whole process gay. I tried emulating 3ds games on my snapdragon 865 phone only got 35fps on a game like smash bros. Going through all that piss to try and get it running only to get 34fps and janky controls. Rather not even bother entirely.

              Anonymous

Like most people do not want to go through that shit. And most people don't want to emulate or play pc games/ports of pc games.

The reason why mobile games aren't as you say is because no one wants them. They don't care about old ass games. Nor does anyone really want to play games with extremely janky controls with extremely dated graphics.

And there are no full priced aaa games as few android users want that, they would would rather pirate it than pay 60 buckaroos. There isn't any money to be made making fully priced mobile games. Wreckfest sold over 900k copies on steam but only 10k on android.
