Why are people like this???
- The game is only 1 GB, its not worth 60 bucks.
- The game looks old, I cant play old looking games (Zoomers will say this about Gamecube/PS2 or even PS3/360 games)
UFOs Are A Psyop Shirt $21.68 |

I have to share my planet with people who don't understand file optimization and want every game to be 160gb
Do we want to mention the homosexual thinking file size indicates value as well?
I mean you don't really have to share it
uh what game tho
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk (A Jet Set Radio spiritual successor)
wait they're asking for £60 for that game? i can see why people take issue
but is the issue that the game is 1GB?..
What about all the games released before 1998, would those not be worth 60 bucks?
no? they are old as shit now
im not paying 60 shekels for 1gb of content, optimization or not
you could take your favorite recent game, reduce it to 1-3GB by compressing assets like 3DModels/Textures/Audio/Video, and it would still be as fun.
>guild wars 2 compressed to 1-3 gb
yeah sure homie, enjoy playing your 10 hours of """quality"" content while i enjoy playing my 200 gb games for decades
you fricking people i swear
you can't just compress things these days because textures are so much bigger and it would lead to drastically increased loading times. The reality is that storage is cheap and having a larger file size can increase performance which is more important.
im saying you could simplify the textures to a ridiculous amount, but the gameplay would be the same.
And if you compress it hard enough you can get nearly every game down to 1-3 lets me more generous 1-10gb.
the problem is that those games are old as frick and I highly doubt comapnies are paying the original devs residuals
>this is the mindset the largest entertainment industry is built to please
WE NEED A CRASH
WE NEED A CRASH NOW
im not paying 60 bucks for your tottally unique """fun""" 10 hours gayme stevyun
the only games that matter are the ones with rpg elements, big maps and tons of side content, everything else doesnt need to exist
Copy-pasted bullshit and checking shit off a map isn't "content".
I couldnt care less what an indie shitter thinks what defines good content. Just know this, i have more fun playing games that are padded and filled than a barebone experience i play once and forget it ever existed for 60 dollars
Yeah, yeah. I bet you're the kinda Black person that buys FIFA.
whatever makes you indietard seethe
>has decided indiegames suck
>will never give an indiegame a chance
>if he did play a good indiegame he would make up reasons as to why it sucks anway
i dont envy you anon.
>this is the mindset the largest entertainment industry is built to please
You realize that most revenue comes from in-game purchases, specifically mobile?
Genshin Impact is something like 10GB/32 on PC, and that's fairly big by mobile standards. You usual high-production value gatcha with voice acting and anime cutscenes is like 4GB.
Oh, that sounds a lot better than the AAA shit I was obviously refering to! Thanks for pointing that out!
With Day one DLC yes, but all you get is 2 characters who don't match the artstyle and have no story hooks and the soundtrack which will inevitably ripped in 2 seconds even without an official spotify hosting.
I feel like the DLC is just there if you want to give the dev's more money. Base price is $40.
>steam forums
People are posting moronic shit to get awards, don't pay attention.
it's 2023
if a game isn't 40+ Gb then I can't justify spending even $50
leave old ass shit in the past already and actually excite me to update my 10+ year old PC already.
Yeah, my game just has a 100gb picture of a cat in it. Much value
i can make a game that would take 10000+ hours to complete in under 100kb
the new equation isn't strictly larger file size / how many hours of gameplay
if the file size is too small in relation to game time, then it's also shit.
more graphics.
some people have bird brains, they're doing the best with what they've got.
size seems like an important number, they don't know its not, they're birds.
>pad your game with a 40gb text file
>zoomers now think your game will be good

OP is talking about this thread
>if-if-if you bought off brand food it-it-it would cost a couple dollars less's's'
>GOLLUM GOLLUM
>The game is only 1 GB, its not worth 60 bucks
Because asking price normally correlates with tech complexity. Video games are a medium with ever evolving tech standards.
If a game is 1GB it is very likely to not be a cutting edge AAA release, so why would it cost full price?
...all the complexity is in the game code.
the game code when compiled is never larger than 200MB.
AAA is 70-80 dollars now boomer. get with the times.
Its not even $60
i personally prefer to play games that look like PS2 era. ps3 era was enough improvement graphics wise, that's where the push for "gud grafisx" should have ended and devs should have focused more on creating quality experiences by experimenting with gameplay instead of focusing hard on making it "look good" by increasing texture size and adding more polygons.
it's backed by actual statistics that the majority of people are running outdated hardware. there is maybe 1% of PC users at any given moment running cutting-edge hardware. there is no spoken desire to keep pushing for enormous games with 10 year release cycles that demand disgusting specs such as $3000 video cards to run well. it's much the opposite.
People like to associate quality with big numbers. It's like how most people think the more RAM your computer has the better it is since it's the easiest number for your average person to compare.
If it's not a big budget release why does it have a big budget price tag?
>muh indie hecking good goyms dev and muh sovl
I havent played a single indie game that was worth more than 2€, if i had the choice to delete all indie shit from the market or all the aids cancer ea, activision and whatever shat out in the past 10 years it would be indie shitters getting the axe, annoying, pseudointellectual, uppish, selfcentric, pozzed c**ts flooding my steamreccomendations with their turboshit 2d platdormers about anal prolapse 20 titles per day, i hate them
He's right, though. If I pay 20 bucks for only a quarter of a hamburger, I'd feel cheated even if that was the best tasting hamburger of my life.
>actual fricking morons ITT ACTUALLY trying to say that GAME SIZE is a measure of game quality, content and value
Dumb fricking mongoloids, you live in times where games have 200 GB and have way less quality than games of the past that fit in just several gigabytes or less, and which if we cut out all the grind, padding and copypasted content would only last for a couple hours
Can't tell if bait or moronation
>ask AAA price
>have to deal with AAA cattle and their moronation
You brought this on yourself.
>The game looks old, I cant play old looking games
I don't think this is a zoomer thing. Whenever my mom saw me play some absolutely gorgeous 2d/sprite game she would always ask my why the hell am I playing games that look so old instead of modern games and she would absolutely refuse to touch anything that wasn't 3d, not that she's a big gamer or anything but she doesn't mind trying games here and there. I'm a millennial.
>There's unironically (sub)human beings that take the size of a game into account when deciding what to play
>There's unironically (sub)human beings that believe game size reflects the quality of a game
Truly, this is the worst fricking timeline.
I want every single one of you morons that fit either of the above criteria to have a nice day immediately.
You're worthless.
You waste the oxygen that smart people would put to better use than (You).
You're actively hindering human progress by being alive.
let me guess
you are one of the "smart" people who stockpiles oxygen in his moms basement?
>studios spend a decade convincing people that bloated sizes is a sign of a premium game
>people dont trust games that aren't bloated
Not a big shock
