seriously you'd be all "wow this is like i remember when i was baby" then check the back of the box where it says 720p and start screeching about muh 8k. you gays are autistic as frick
>I mean I can tell but it's not like my eyes melted from absolute horror and disgust.
Consolecuck standards, I know. You people are why 30 fps still exists at all
It's not mentioned on the steam page....surely that is a good sign.
Far from masters, far from perfection, plenty of compromises. But they basically did better ports of the time than most other people did. Before they went on the "we now remake games in our own image" binge.
Do you think they will release MGS4 on Steam as well and will it be good?
I always wanted to get into MGS, but didn't, because MGS4 was never released.
only time will tell, but i don't see a reason to split this collection in two parts if they're not going to include mgs4
they're including snake's revenge on this one, and that's not even canon or made by Kojima. Konami is trying to get on the consumer's good side again with the mgs3 remake, mgs collections and upcoming silent hill remake
They gotta start somewhere after MGS3 pachinko, MGSurvive, and PT's cancelation and removal of the demo. Not counting all the previous frick ups with SHHD and Castlevania, or most of their dormant franchises
>it’s Nintendo’s fault that konami relases lazy ports
When Nintendo remasters a game, they do a great job. See: Skyward Sword HD and Metroid Prime Remaster.
Skyward Sword having upgraded visuals and the sword mapped to the control stick, sure. Warping from the ground to the sky anywhere locked behind an amiibo? Not so much.
HD Collection had the VR missions for Substance you dingleberry, it had Snake Tales too.

>Still doesn't have skateboarding.
That was because it used the Evolution Skateboarding engine and wasn't in the Xbox or Windows versions of Substance, just PS2.
I presume Bluepoint either used the PC/Xbox source code as the basis or weren't able to port the Evolution Skateboarding stuff due to that being made by a different dev team to KojiPro.

It looks like how MGSV did it. You can switch languages but they have separate saves so no changing in the middle of the game.
Ah, that's interesting.

>Ah, that's interesting.
It is. I've probably played these games dozens of times so having a new way different to play them is getting me excited. I just hope they don't frick it up hard and ruin my new playthrough.
>How is that love moron? Its a port of the already existing HD collection, they haven't done jack shit work
I mean, they've very obviously fixed bugs in Bluepoint's versions. That's why the codec in MGS2 is immediate now, instead of delayed.
Shit's 720p even on PS5.
It would most likely be 720p on PC, but I am willing to bet that mods will happen.
And said mods would probably even try to restore pressure-sensitive buttons if you have a DualShock 3, and fix graphical flaws with the HD Collection.
Remember, if some PC ports are broken, always bet on modders to fix them.
Some screenshots of the collection suggest that they ARE fixing some of the graphical flaws from the HD Collection, which makes the resolution issue even weirder.
MGS3 and MGS2 use the face button pressure to aim in the game, which they removed in the remaster as no new controller really includes this feature in the face buttons anymore
Just remind them that it's a handheld system and should not be held to the standards of consoles and PC... even though it's priced and marketed like a console.
That is true, though. Switch is more powerful than the PS3.
It can easily handle 1080p/60fps on PS2 fricking games.
However, the screen itself is 720p, so you can only go to 1080p in console mode. Maybe that's where the reason lies.
Either that, or they're looking for a reason to resell this on Switch 2, all "souped up".
>We used the HD Collection versions of both MGS2 and MGS3 for porting - so the resolution (720p) and performance will match that of the 2012 HD Collection
>ps5 and series x locked at 720p
Marvelous, I'm sure this will look great on my 78" 4k oled
This has to be the laziest generation of developers I've seen
Coming hot on the heels of the worst port in the past decade, RDR, where they changed literally nothing except the anti-aliasing, resolution and anisotropic filtering
The 30fps is baffling for switch because ps3 and 360 run HD collection at 60fps
Why the change for switch? Only one reason sisters... it couldn't cope...
Apparently 2 and 3 still drop frames despite the 30 FPS cap.
Honestly, they should've just ported the Vita versions for the Switch, I can't believe how well that little thing ran those two games.
It makes you appreciate what Bluepoint was able to do for the time in making solid, if flawed, ports. And realize that Konami must have gotten rid of a ton of their competent programmers (or is this being outsourced?) and have very shitty people handling these ports of ports.
Far from masters, far from perfection, plenty of compromises. But they basically did better ports of the time than most other people did. Before they went on the "we now remake games in our own image" binge.
>people want an MGS4 port when that shit would probably be FPS locked, probably have worse performance than the original somehow, and not even be allowed on Switch at this point
There is 0% chance they are porting MGS4 for vol. 2. They haven't put any effort into this and people truly believe they will try porting mgs4 kek
Switch 2 would probably run it but its irrelevant because they won't be attempting it at all
>There is 0% chance they are porting MGS4 for vol. 2. They haven't put any effort into this and people truly believe they will try porting mgs4 kek
Switch 2 would probably run it but its irrelevant because they won't be attempting it at all
If there’s no mgs4 on volume 2, than what 3 games could it even have
Is it gonna be peace walker, five and metal gear rising?
Peace walker, five and portable ops?
2 side games as one of the main games of a collection.
>collection contains MGS2, perhaps the ultimate prediction of Internet and ai development, incredibly relevant at this moment >gives a warning content might be outdated
Hmmmmm the suits don't want people to know
>outdated
which they mean? what? >raiden offensive?
gay people unironically go out of their way to act like homosexuals
what else could they get offended by? the game telling the truth years ahead of social media being a thing?
it's just konami covering their asses with the writing possibly upsetting someone.
crazy how it needs a disclaimer, though. The biggest controversy back then was Raiden replacing Snake, now it's just the script and cutscenes. Wild how things change
Black person they aren't even changing the rendering resolution, shit that fans do in literally hours when shitty ports release, they aren't going to even come close to putting the effort into changing any of the games actual content.
>screenshots show 1:1 areas but they all look generic and lacked the jungle haze filter >we know the story will be 1:1, besides whatever cuts to dialogue or fricked up cinematic differences in cinematography might happen >probably at best have tweaked/expanded gameplay
It'll be soulless, but they've got a good framework. But I wouldn't be surprised if it's shit.
lol lmao funny how everyone fellates it yet it has the same issues as the modern RE remakes and people somehow bash those yet turn a blind eye to RE1make.. curious
That's because normalgays never played the original so they think it's nothing more than a graphical update with some new content.
I'm not really a fan in how REmake tries to pad the game out with Lisa sections, crimson zombies, or turning the game extremely linear when the original had choices which affects your ending.
Eh, I don't really think the Crimson Zombies were really a great addition. It's nothing more than a time waster since it basically punishes you for not wasting your shotgun shells to blow the zombies head off so they won't revive.
Also sure, you can burn the corpses so they won't revive into crimson zombies. But it only drags out the game more in what's supposed to be a title where you're trying to beat your own previous time record.

The whole point of Crimson Heads was to make the player consider what zombies to waste and to plan their routes accordingly, as seen with the shitty doorknob that breaks if you go through it too many times for convenience.
Nah, he's kind of right, you can get some weird scenarios in the original that I've never seen in REmake, like the one where Barry fricking falls over like a spazz and accidentally releases the Tyrant. Maybe it was deemed to goofy but all the same.
https://www.ign.com/articles/metal-gear-solid-master-collection-vol-1-preview-first-impressions >Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is where I spent the majority of my time, and it was again the Bluepoint HD version that is regarded by fans like myself as the best version available
Is this true?
Yes and no
It removes snake vs monkey and the nightmare sequence, probably a few other things. Mgs2 has no secret theatre or skateboarding
HOWEVER, I feel these don't outweigh having the games look crisp and run at 60fps. They also didn't do a Demons Souls and change shit
>even kojima plays in dub
Now you are reaching denial of reality cope. Kojima has quotes directly saying Japanese is the true intended way to experience Snake. Lying only makes your cope more pathetic.

It looks like how MGSV did it. You can switch languages but they have separate saves so no changing in the middle of the game.
Rebind it to the shoulder triggers, the default controls are moronic anyway and having the shoot button be on R2 like it is in every single other game feels natural
no the actual best way to play through MGS2 atleast is to simply download the substance PC version and then grab this https://github.com/VFansss/mgs2-v-s-fix
depends
do you like performance?
yes
do you want accuracy down to the every last detail?
no.
is it better than not playing it at all and the shitty pressure based button controls?
yes.
Steam, and technically yes, but still need a controller or gotta frick with steam input to bind controller buttons to keyboard keys. And judging by the rest of the news of the collection so far, it'll be 720p by default so people are gonna have to really hack configs open for this
No, they said that the old games will be keyboard only, MGS2 will be mostly keyboard with limited mouse support, and they'll try to implement more extensive mouse support in MGS3.

Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is where I spent the majority of my time, and it was again the Bluepoint HD version that is regarded by fans like myself as the best version available >Is this true?
NO.
People like to minimize it but the texture work in the HD Collection is stellar. Still very evocative of the original while being much more crisp. Same with the ZOE2 port.
My recollection is that they didn't do much with ZOE1 to begin with, even with the HD Collection release. ZOE2 got all the love, since it's the one that people were actually invested in.
That said, the PC port is great and I recommend picking it up.
Because no-one likes 1.
Because it was Cygames's boss' dream to play ZOE2 in VR, so he asked Konami to let his company do it. That's literally it, seriously.
He even hoped to make ZOE3, if it would sell well.
Cygames is actually fricking massive and profitable, even if you didn't hear about them, because they're mainly working on mobile games.
Granblue Fantasy, Uma Musume, they own both of them.
its just because i only ever played a demo on PS2 back in the day and i liked it but never managed to get the full games.
It was also the only mecha game beside Gundam demo i ever played.

For what it's worth, you don't need ZOE1 to enjoy ZOE2. ZOE1's story has a little bit of worldbuilding and a decent-ish story but it's very short and its gameplay is very unrefined. It was essentially a vehicle for the MGS2 demo. The main thing it adds, at least to me, is an understanding of the meaning of the title, but that's nothing you can't get out of a synopsis or recap.
ZOE2 is much more fleshed out, looks better, feels better, has a better story, etc.

I was talking more about the original HD Port on PS3, which the M∀RS version is based on, but yeah, this is true for the VR elements of the game. The M∀RS version also includes a super fun bonus Hangar/Gallery mode that was really cool to kind of explore, a really great model viewer, etc. It's a real love letter to the game.

okay good to know i will try it out one day anon, also i noticed once, that it has an anime.

Apparently it's going to be 720p on other consoles too. Dunno about the framerate on other systems. Konami are simply fricking lazy c**ts. The Switch got fricking Red Dead Redemption of all things and it runs better than PS3/360.
I got it but too lazy for photo
I can't believe the PC version will just be the same or worse. Guess I just have to hang on to that unlike DMC HD on PC which easily replaced the console versions.
Not digging them out right now but by the end of me using it, my PS3 was basically just a nostalgiabox. Most "modern" games for it collected dust but I had:
>MGS HD Collection >Kingdom Hearts 1.5 >God of War Saga HD >Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD >Zone of the Enders HD Collection >Devil May Cry HD Collection
https://www.pcgamesn.com/metal-gear-solid/mouse-and-keyboard
Actually, Konami mentioned that they're working on M+KB support, but it will vary by game.
I was more appalled by the fact that this collection doesnt even include 4 and 5.
The PS3 HD collection had 4 included. There is absolutely no fricking excuse.
Konami are greedy frickers and nobody should give them money.
He's still wrong since MS4 was only included with the Legacy Collection released 2 years after HD Collection.
Not that anon but do you think vol 2 will have 4 or will it just be some of the other games?
Depends if they actually want to put in the effort to port it to new platforms.
vol 1 has 7 games in it.
Can you think of 7 more MGS games to put into vol 2?
Hard mode: no post MGS4 games so they can avoid saying they "skipped" it
European Extreme Mode: 7 games people would actually spend money to buy
>Can you think of 7 more MGS games to put into vol 2?
Ghost Babel, Acid, Acid 2, Portable Ops, Portable Ops Plus, MGS4, MGSV.
You can swap out Ghost Babel for MGR if you want (which would also be easy to port to new consoles thanks to the PC version)
>Ghost Babel >Acid >Acid 2 >Portable OPs >Rising >Ground Zeroes >Phantom Pain
The last 3 came out after MGS4 so frick hard mode there aren't any other games.
Peace Walker, Ghosts Babel, Acid 1 and 2, Portable Ops, Rising and Ground Zeroes/Phantom Pain. Besides those, the games on vol 1 and MGS4 are there even any other MGS games besides online and arcade stuff?
Looking at the options for volume 2 MGS4 pretty much has to be included or be a marketing disaster. Nobody will be buying a collection of 7 games that aren't 4 and 3 of which are already on PC.
>acid
those are't mgs games though
also they don't have to put 7 games, konami can just be konami and put less games and charge the same price, specially if it has mgs4, that alone 'justifies' it for a lot of people since it's no longer a ps3 only game.
square got away with something similar with that one kingdom hearts collection
>square got away with something similar with that one kingdom hearts collection
Good point, that was just an HD port of a 3DS game, a prologue for KH3 and a movie all sold for $60

For a split second I thought Aqua was parading her cheeks in that cover.
Mods for MGS4 are going to be great
mgs4 must be a licensing nightmare, they're going to do the same thing bluepoint did to the doritos and mountain dew on HD PW
...wondering if they'll leave the Beauty sections of the boss fights.
>The PS3 HD collection had 4 included
no it didn't, that was a separate "Legacy Collection" released afterwards which just had a reprint of MGS4.
The original release of HD Collection only had 2, 3, and PW.
vol 1 has 7 games in it.
Can you think of 7 more MGS games to put into vol 2?

Konami would probably count GZ and TPP as the same game due to that "Definitive Experience" release they did.
Thats splitting hairs. I have the edition with 4 sitting on my shelf.
Doesnt matter, all games should be included in one collection if you are charging full price. Especially so if the last game in the series came out almost a decade ago.
>Thats splitting hairs
Not really. You said HD Collection when you meant Legacy Collection.
And yes these collections are overpriced but after the Mega Man packs I'm used to this.

You know damn well those greedy bastards will advertise them as you buying 2 games for a low low price to make the collection seem like it has a higher number of games bundled together.

Maybe.
They're advertising Vol 1 as having MG1 and 2 even though they were already included with MGS3 Subsistence/HD.
I don't think any of those besides maybe Rising will make it in. GZ and PP are already they're own standalones and Konami is too fricking lazy to do any touch-ups for literal who PSP titles. (Although, ports of Acid 1+2 would be cool. Portable Ops can eat a dick)

No you're thinking of MG1 and MG2 which are also included in addition to Snakes Revenge and the NES game.
Peace Walker, Ghosts Babel, Acid 1 and 2, Portable Ops, Rising and Ground Zeroes/Phantom Pain. Besides those, the games on vol 1 and MGS4 are there even any other MGS games besides online and arcade stuff?
I think it's going to be:
Portable Ops
Peace Walker
Revengeance
Solid Touch
Acid
Acid 2
And maybe (big maybe) MGS 5 (which will run like shit)
I don't see them doing 4, they're clearly extremely lazy about this shit.
Maybe Metal Gear Solid Mobile too. Made by Konami and Ideaworks, came out in 2008.
It has an original story set between MGS 1 and 2.
Can emulate it with EKA2L1, fully playable.

This shouldn't be a surprise. You couldn't even use your keyboard in MGS on PC which made this port somehow even worse than the 2000 original port. How this happens is bewildering.
I realized this the second they dropped the trailer for the collection and everyone on Ganker called me a moron for my outrageous claim that Konami would run the game at an internal 720p res
Here we are. I don’t know how people didn’t see this coming. The trailer looked like shit.
>portable ops with proper controls like PW >someone could probably mod it so you can speed up dragging guards or auto capture once they're knocked out.
God, it'd be perfect, one can dream
there gunna be anyway to buy just MGS3 from this? I already played 1 and enough of 2 to know that they're trash, and 3 is the only one I played that I actually somewhat enjoyed. That bridge was the first time I experiences stealth in the franchise and felt like I actually had to think for once, and I eternally cherish that, because it's so unique for stealth to actually work. Unfortunately I played it on 3DS initially (through the demo) and when I finally pirated it, I couldn't stand the controls. So I really need this collection to be able to allow me to just buy MGS3 alone.
No that would be the high school sophomore philosophy level take on baudrillard that is MGS2. There's a reason only the dumbest audience on Earth, gamers, think it's deep
Correct, it's not, it's fricking horrendous and would make anyone with an IQ over 80 wince. The NPC take is that you thought it was when you were 11 years old and are so addled by nostalgia you can't accept you were just young and dumb
NTA but I don't understand how this engages with his point? it's just trying to mock and misrepresent him to attack your perception of his character. I don't think he ever said anything about not being an NPC or smarter. Just because you think other people are dumb or biased, doesn't necessarily mean you consider yourself high tier or flawless.
If the standard of "i don't want to be dumb" now means "oh so you think you're the best in the world!" that just feels like it thoughtlessly encourages group think and attacks critical thinking. It doesn't allow for people to hold nuanced opinions. And, like in this post, just obfuscates the reality and meaning behind what is actually being said or discussed to shift the focus to your perception of him. Which he can never win or overcome, because your perception can be anything and arbitrary.
It's a fallacy of irrelevance, and a very manipulative one for the highly dishonest.
he said >There's a reason only the dumbest audience on Earth, gamers, think it's deep
if this isn't moral highground and contrarianism then i don't know
There is no information about consoles/PC versions resolutions, yes. There is also some tweaks konami made for blupoint ports, but they didn't specify what exactly they did.
>My hands-on time was limited to the original Metal Gear Solid era. Master Collection Vol.1 contains four titles total from this release window: the 1998 original, Metal Gear Solid VR Missions, Metal Gear Solid Special Missions and Metal Gear Solid Integral.
I mean wasn't Integral all in one?
So? That's irrelevant. This is the world wide package. Konami is pointlessly shoving in a game that's not even translated that you don't need because 1+VR Missions is in the package to begin with. This is just padding out the game number to make the price tag look less moronic.
Nintendo Life said they specifically asked Konami about other versions, and the Konami rep confirmed that all console versions were targeting 720p. Nothing was said about PC.
Honestly I can't wait for Twin Snakes to finally get a rerelease.
I'm still pissed at Kojima refusing to include it in the HD collection because >"m-muh we didn't make it so it we didn't bother including"
I DON'T CARE IF YOU DIDN'T DEVELOP TWIN SNAKES AT LEAST RERELEASE IT IN SOME FRICKING FORM
Just emulate it moron. Do you think todays news of fricking MGS2 running at 720p on the ps5 bodes well for any kind of future collections? Do you even grasp how little they care about this stuff? I mean legitimately think about it for 2 seconds here.
Rdr1 just came out and people are complaining about it being a lazy port, but they at the vet least upped the resolution. This is locked to 720p in 2023. I don’t think people are understanding how little Konami cares.
>We don't know if it's locked to 720p on PS5 yet
Actually it's been confirmed
https://www.nintendolife.com/features/hands-on-metal-gear-solid-master-collection-vol-1-could-be-so-much-more-but-isnt >We asked about performance on PS5, Xbox Series X, plus the newly announced PS4 release; Konami clarified that the games will be targeting the same resolution (720p) and frame rate of the initial HD releases
So far the best info anyone has for all versions of the MGS collection is a fricking nintendo fansite. So unless Konami actually fixes or at least clarifies expect all console versions to be stuck at 720p regardless of hardware strength. Which tell us this is purely on Konami for being homosexuals, not an issue of hardware power.

Konami responded that they're working on implementing mouse and keyboard support to PC and even confirmed PS4 version.
I think it's important to get really vocal about it now, so they'll actually change it.
If it were 1080p or 4K it would have been announced as part of the marketing already. IGN reached out to them for info but Konami never responded. You know it’s going to be 720p
Yes we do. Several previews have confirmed it. Also it was obvious the second they released the trailer for the collection that all the footage was running at 720p.
RDR1R runs at 1080p on switch at a consistent 30fps. MGS runs at sub 30 fps at 720p, lol.
Lots apparently. Konami had a different team make the NES port, told them to change as much as possible and Kojima distances himself from it for how different it is.
And there's plenty of games on the switch that run at 60FPS at resolutions above 720p. Portal duology collection anyone? Or what about the burnout paradise remaster?
>we want Steam Deck audience
>we want to switch audience
you most likely wouldn't even notice the difference if the box didn't tell ya

>human eyes can't even see above 20fps anyway!!

I mean I can tell but it's not like my eyes melted from absolute horror and disgust.
I still have seventh gen consoles hooked to a 4K TV.
>I mean I can tell but it's not like my eyes melted from absolute horror and disgust.

I bet you'd absolutely seethe at the notion I have an RTX 3090 connected to a 1080p monitor.
the bigger frick you is that its apparently 30fps on switch when it used to be 60 on the originals and the first time they released the collection
>switch is weaker than ps2
KEK
funny innit
>720p
Fine by me.
This, however, is fricking inexcusable.
What framerate were the Vita versions?
30 for outside areas, 60 fps for interiors
MGS 2 was 60 indoors/30 outdoors. 3 was 30 locked.
>when it used to be 60 on the originals
I remember the framerates of MGS 1-3 to be less than 30 on the PS2.
Do you think they will release MGS4 on Steam as well and will it be good?
I always wanted to get into MGS, but didn't, because MGS4 was never released.
There's not much else they can include in volume 2 of the collection besides 4.
Did you seriously forget about Peace Walker?
PW but no MGS4 isn't much of a collection.
only time will tell, but i don't see a reason to split this collection in two parts if they're not going to include mgs4
they're including snake's revenge on this one, and that's not even canon or made by Kojima. Konami is trying to get on the consumer's good side again with the mgs3 remake, mgs collections and upcoming silent hill remake

I'm pretty sure even mobile games are running at a higher fps lmfao
>it’s Nintendo’s fault that konami relases lazy ports
When Nintendo remasters a game, they do a great job. See: Skyward Sword HD and Metroid Prime Remaster.
Skyward Sword having upgraded visuals and the sword mapped to the control stick, sure. Warping from the ground to the sky anywhere locked behind an amiibo? Not so much.
Skyward Sword HD runs at a solid 1080p 60FPS. The amiibo feature is pointless.
I'm glad the konami exec got hit in the head with the fire extinguisher, everyone must have clapped when he did that.
>actually includes VR missions.
Holy shit, actually nice they're giving it some love.
Very worth a playthrough.
How is that love moron? Its a port of the already existing HD collection, they haven't done jack shit work
Honestly, the fact that secret theater is still missing is all I need to know this is just a port job. No "love" went into any of this.
Hd collection didnt include VR missions. It wasnt even commercially available on the playstation store.
It did for mgs2 but whoop de fricking do if mgs1 didn't and they've done it this time. That's like 5 minutes of work?
The MGS:VR missions was a seperate game. It has a lot of content and its been largely forgotten. I am glad that it is getting recognition, thats all.
What if they remove the upskirts?
HD Collection had the VR missions for Substance you dingleberry, it had Snake Tales too.
Still doesn't have skateboarding.
He means MGS1 mate
>Still doesn't have skateboarding.
That was because it used the Evolution Skateboarding engine and wasn't in the Xbox or Windows versions of Substance, just PS2.
I presume Bluepoint either used the PC/Xbox source code as the basis or weren't able to port the Evolution Skateboarding stuff due to that being made by a different dev team to KojiPro.
That's why the codec in MGS2 is immediate now, instead of delayed.
>they only let people playtest the Switch version
>720p30fps with significant framedrops
AAAAAA I DON'T GIVE A FRICK JUST TELL ME HOW IT PLAYS ON PC
Shit's 720p even on PS5.
It would most likely be 720p on PC, but I am willing to bet that mods will happen.
And said mods would probably even try to restore pressure-sensitive buttons if you have a DualShock 3, and fix graphical flaws with the HD Collection.
Remember, if some PC ports are broken, always bet on modders to fix them.
Some screenshots of the collection suggest that they ARE fixing some of the graphical flaws from the HD Collection, which makes the resolution issue even weirder.
The codec delay got fixed from that one video.
Can't you run the original game on an emulator on PC in 720p? Or 1080p?
People want native games more than emulation, wow whodda thunk
MGS3 and MGS2 use the face button pressure to aim in the game, which they removed in the remaster as no new controller really includes this feature in the face buttons anymore
mods will fix it
>ps1 runs mgs at 30fps
>25 years later
>switch is 30fps for it and every game
switchsters they're making fun of us again......our response?
Just remind them that it's a handheld system and should not be held to the standards of consoles and PC... even though it's priced and marketed like a console.
More time
It's not over, sisters!
Just say that this is the fault of the developers and not the hilariously underpowered hardware!
If you play anything but exclusives on the switch, you dont get it
wait what, where's everyone getting all this info from about playtesting and 720p
>We used the HD Collection versions of both MGS2 and MGS3 for porting - so the resolution (720p) and performance will match that of the 2012 HD Collection
https://www.nintendolife.com/features/hands-on-metal-gear-solid-master-collection-vol-1-could-be-so-much-more-but-isnt
>ps5 and series x locked at 720p
Marvelous, I'm sure this will look great on my 78" 4k oled
This has to be the laziest generation of developers I've seen
Coming hot on the heels of the worst port in the past decade, RDR, where they changed literally nothing except the anti-aliasing, resolution and anisotropic filtering
>30fps 720p
>notable slowdown
>texture degradation according to IGN
What in the everliving frick
The 30fps is baffling for switch because ps3 and 360 run HD collection at 60fps
Why the change for switch? Only one reason sisters... it couldn't cope...
Apparently 2 and 3 still drop frames despite the 30 FPS cap.
Honestly, they should've just ported the Vita versions for the Switch, I can't believe how well that little thing ran those two games.
It makes you appreciate what Bluepoint was able to do for the time in making solid, if flawed, ports. And realize that Konami must have gotten rid of a ton of their competent programmers (or is this being outsourced?) and have very shitty people handling these ports of ports.
>appreciate
>bluepoint
No
Far from masters, far from perfection, plenty of compromises. But they basically did better ports of the time than most other people did. Before they went on the "we now remake games in our own image" binge.
How much?
$70 for all 10 games plus VR missions and some digital stuff.
I'm just glad the games are now free from dub hell.
>trusting Konami with ports/remasters
>ever
Comic Sans fits the aesthetic of Silent Hill though?
>people want an MGS4 port when that shit would probably be FPS locked, probably have worse performance than the original somehow, and not even be allowed on Switch at this point
Probably Peace Walker HD, with Portable Ops, the AC!D games and Ghost Babel on emulation, and maybe, just maybe, Rising.
>won't even be allowed on Switch
good MGS is not kid friendly
I just hope this shit doesn't have Denuvo.
it absolutely have denuvo
It's not mentioned on the steam page....surely that is a good sign.
It should be illegal for anything to be released that isn't AT LEAST 1080P, 60/120 FPS, AND HDR FRICK OFF
Proper HDR is still very rare even on native PS5 games.
What a fricking joke.
no gaijin
u dont understandu
we spentu arr our time on adding trigger warning so we couldn't optimize our gemu
thatrr be 50 bucksu, by the way
>warning that content may be considered outdated
Yeah the fps and resolution!
Gottem
>collection contains MGS2, perhaps the ultimate prediction of Internet and ai development, incredibly relevant at this moment
>gives a warning content might be outdated
Hmmmmm the suits don't want people to know
I think it's for the crotch grabs in 2 and 3, and the gay kiss on the subsistence video with Raiden
>outdated
which they mean? what?
>raiden offensive?
gay people unironically go out of their way to act like homosexuals
what else could they get offended by? the game telling the truth years ahead of social media being a thing?
People were buttholes before social media you zoomer.
it's just konami covering their asses with the writing possibly upsetting someone.
crazy how it needs a disclaimer, though. The biggest controversy back then was Raiden replacing Snake, now it's just the script and cutscenes. Wild how things change
The disclaimer is there because zoomers are instantly going to assume raiden is trans and for Snake, then get mad at Rose for being his gf
Probably the scene where Snake calls Vamp a blood sucking homosexual
One of my favorite codename origins.
and when the president makes fun of raiden being a non passing troony, and Emma pointing out raiden's wig
>"YWNBAW, Raiden"
>You are... a man!
>Jack, do you know what day it is today?
>July 1st?
>That's right. the end of pride month. The end of the Patriots' rule, liberation of this country.
kek
For example mgs3 had face camo named blackface
Casual sexual harassments of female codec contacts in every game as well as Black Face Paint
>that call with nastasha where snake talks about her clitoris
Yeah, that's gonna get cut.
Black person they aren't even changing the rendering resolution, shit that fans do in literally hours when shitty ports release, they aren't going to even come close to putting the effort into changing any of the games actual content.
That means MGS4 is not being included in Vol 2 after all. They actually have to change things due to licensing.
>Disclaimer: there's gay jokes, don't get your assworms in a bunch, gaygies
>mgs1 is pillarboxed
nani the actual frick
locked at 30 fps too
vita from 2012 has them at 60 fps
The remake for 3 is gonna be shit too, isn't it?
i don't think so
>screenshots show 1:1 areas but they all look generic and lacked the jungle haze filter
>we know the story will be 1:1, besides whatever cuts to dialogue or fricked up cinematic differences in cinematography might happen
>probably at best have tweaked/expanded gameplay
It'll be soulless, but they've got a good framework. But I wouldn't be surprised if it's shit.
You mean their cashgrab attempt to reboot an IP they don't really care about? Yeah
all the shots they've shown so far look like hire this man ue4 shit.
Resident Evil 1 Remake is still the gold standard.
lol lmao funny how everyone fellates it yet it has the same issues as the modern RE remakes and people somehow bash those yet turn a blind eye to RE1make.. curious
That's because normalgays never played the original so they think it's nothing more than a graphical update with some new content.
I'm not really a fan in how REmake tries to pad the game out with Lisa sections, crimson zombies, or turning the game extremely linear when the original had choices which affects your ending.
Black person, what? The crimson heads and body burning were great and the endings remained unchanged. I kind of agree with the Lisa parts, though.
Lisa and crimson heads are an excellent addition
i liked the crimson zombies but yeah the rest is shit
Please understand, the playstation can't handle any higher resolution without cratering the framerate below the originals.
can't wait for the mods
imagine the randomizers
https://www.ign.com/articles/metal-gear-solid-master-collection-vol-1-preview-first-impressions
>Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is where I spent the majority of my time, and it was again the Bluepoint HD version that is regarded by fans like myself as the best version available
The best way to play the games is on PC through emulation and upscaling it.
Maybe if you sprinkle some cope ontop of that too.
Why?
Emulation is dub only, so you have to cope and pretend the dub is all you need.
It is though, even kojima plays in dub
>even kojima plays in dub
Now you are reaching denial of reality cope. Kojima has quotes directly saying Japanese is the true intended way to experience Snake. Lying only makes your cope more pathetic.
Pretty sure even the HD Collection didn't let you use Jap voices
Yeah. This will be the first time the west will have them with Jap voices.
Do you have a source on that?
I don't see any sites saying the master collection has multiple voice options.
The Steam page lists both.
https://blog.playstation.com/2023/08/21/hands-on-report-metal-gear-solid-master-collection-vol-1super-crazy-rhythm-castle-and-more/
It looks like how MGSV did it. You can switch languages but they have separate saves so no changing in the middle of the game.
>dub only
moron
Only if you use a controller with pressure sensitive buttons like a ps3 controller which was the last controller that supported it.
Rebind it to the shoulder triggers, the default controls are moronic anyway and having the shoot button be on R2 like it is in every single other game feels natural
Might be true for mgs3 but 2 runs like dogshit in pcsx2
that can't be a recent thing, can't it? pcsx2 has improved so much, it has to run better now, no?
Maybe on the latest beta branch, but 1.6 runs like shit.
>1.6
Just run the nightly, it has auto-update built in every time you boot up and everything. It's lightyears ahead of the release versions.
no the actual best way to play through MGS2 atleast is to simply download the substance PC version and then grab this https://github.com/VFansss/mgs2-v-s-fix
Yes, MGS2 Substance is my favourite way to play MGS3. moron
reading comprehension moron
>Read comprehension
Yeah, you could use some. Try reading the post chain you're replying to
depends
do you like performance?
yes
do you want accuracy down to the every last detail?
no.
is it better than not playing it at all and the shitty pressure based button controls?
yes.
Wait is this on PC? Can I play MGS3 HD now without emulation?
>now
no
Steam, and technically yes, but still need a controller or gotta frick with steam input to bind controller buttons to keyboard keys. And judging by the rest of the news of the collection so far, it'll be 720p by default so people are gonna have to really hack configs open for this
Apparently they just said that they will include KB+M support on PC after all.
Though I doubt the games will play all that well on it
>Apparently they just said that they will include KB+M support on PC after all.
In the menus, lmao
No, they said that the old games will be keyboard only, MGS2 will be mostly keyboard with limited mouse support, and they'll try to implement more extensive mouse support in MGS3.
>and they'll try to implement more extensive mouse support in MGS3.
Please allow it in the menus so I can at least speed crazy fast through camo select and healing
Lots of people speedrun MGS2 with keyboard, it works fine for even high level play
Buy a 20 wired 8bitdo you stupid Black person
Who the frick is playing console ports with a keyboard
A lot of people judging by the responses
Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is where I spent the majority of my time, and it was again the Bluepoint HD version that is regarded by fans like myself as the best version available
>Is this true?
NO.
They fixed bugs in MGS2 like the codec delay, so it's plausible MGS3's bugs have been fixed, too.
I I think the 360 version is by far the best because there's no shitty pressure sensitive gimmick trash.
Yes. There are some minor graphical effects that got messed up, but 60FPS more than makes up for that.
People like to minimize it but the texture work in the HD Collection is stellar. Still very evocative of the original while being much more crisp. Same with the ZOE2 port.
"people" used to call me schizo for even mentioning the higher res textures in 3HD.
wait did ZOE get PC port?
Just 2.
why just 2 though?
Dunno. I never agreed with the hate 1 got.
its just because i only ever played a demo on PS2 back in the day and i liked it but never managed to get the full games.
It was also the only mecha game beside Gundam demo i ever played.
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ok.
Mgs 2 ran 60 fps on the ps2 btw
Apparently it's going to be 720p on other consoles too. Dunno about the framerate on other systems. Konami are simply fricking lazy c**ts. The Switch got fricking Red Dead Redemption of all things and it runs better than PS3/360.
>m-mods will fix it!
it will have denuvo, were fricked fellas.
denuvo only prevents executable changes
Post em if you got em!
>MGS HD Collection
>Kingdom Hearts 1.5
>God of War Saga HD
>Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD
>Zone of the Enders HD Collection
>Devil May Cry HD Collection
I got the original PS2 game still with me
Snake (MGS1) Variety Level 1 is going to be piss easy on pc
it's like RE4's Shooting range on Wii
>NO KEYBOARD AND MOUSE SUPPORT
i'm sure there's an app out there that lets you play with a mouse and keyboard, something that makes it think the mouse is a controller
Steam Input lets you rebind anything to everything, Konami cares so little at they're just letting the community fix that problem.
https://www.pcgamesn.com/metal-gear-solid/mouse-and-keyboard
Actually, Konami mentioned that they're working on M+KB support, but it will vary by game.
I was more appalled by the fact that this collection doesnt even include 4 and 5.
The PS3 HD collection had 4 included. There is absolutely no fricking excuse.
Konami are greedy frickers and nobody should give them money.
moron we still don't know if MGS4 won't be included
He's talking about splitting the games into volumes, reading comphrehension-kun.
He's still wrong since MS4 was only included with the Legacy Collection released 2 years after HD Collection.
Depends if they actually want to put in the effort to port it to new platforms.
Did they really put the metacritic score on the cover?
Mods for MGS4 are going to be great
mgs4 must be a licensing nightmare, they're going to do the same thing bluepoint did to the doritos and mountain dew on HD PW
...wondering if they'll leave the Beauty sections of the boss fights.
kek funny how Kojima originally wanted them to be fully naked but his team stopped him.
his vision can finally become a reality if its on pc
>The PS3 HD collection had 4 included
no it didn't, that was a separate "Legacy Collection" released afterwards which just had a reprint of MGS4.
The original release of HD Collection only had 2, 3, and PW.
Not that anon but do you think vol 2 will have 4 or will it just be some of the other games?
vol 1 has 7 games in it.
Can you think of 7 more MGS games to put into vol 2?
Hard mode: no post MGS4 games so they can avoid saying they "skipped" it
European Extreme Mode: 7 games people would actually spend money to buy
>Ghost Babel
>Acid
>Acid 2
>Portable OPs
>Rising
>Ground Zeroes
>Phantom Pain
The last 3 came out after MGS4 so frick hard mode there aren't any other games.
Konami would probably count GZ and TPP as the same game due to that "Definitive Experience" release they did.
>Thats splitting hairs
Not really. You said HD Collection when you meant Legacy Collection.
And yes these collections are overpriced but after the Mega Man packs I'm used to this.
>Konami would probably count GZ and TPP
You know damn well those greedy bastards will advertise them as you buying 2 games for a low low price to make the collection seem like it has a higher number of games bundled together.
Maybe.
They're advertising Vol 1 as having MG1 and 2 even though they were already included with MGS3 Subsistence/HD.
I don't think any of those besides maybe Rising will make it in. GZ and PP are already they're own standalones and Konami is too fricking lazy to do any touch-ups for literal who PSP titles. (Although, ports of Acid 1+2 would be cool. Portable Ops can eat a dick)
>Konami is too fricking lazy to do any touch-ups for literal who PSP titles
They included Snakes Revenge and the NES game in vol 1. Who knows? Acid 1 and 2 might be on the table, hopefully.
That was already packaged with MGS3 when it first released, anon.
Can emulate it with EKA2L1, fully playable.
that's pretty cool
I would love to play it, but i have zero faith in konami
I doubt konami even knows about this game existence.
Even if they did they would probably say "oh that was made by a third-party dev so we don't have access to the files anymore"
Thats splitting hairs. I have the edition with 4 sitting on my shelf.
Doesnt matter, all games should be included in one collection if you are charging full price. Especially so if the last game in the series came out almost a decade ago.
will this mean mods? since its on pc now?
likely will have denuvo
idc
um
I'm modding it anyway. Idc
>will this mean mods? since its on pc now?
Mgs1 and mgs2 we’re always on PC but never had mods, they were even rereleased on pc a few years back.
Apparently MGS2 had some mods but nothing substantial.
there's also that mgs2 third person mod
some wizard autist took code from mgs3s' third person camera and made it usable on mgs2.
huh, very cool but I wonder how playable/fun this actually is.
How does this work after you get the HFB and need to use the right stick to control it?
>Apparently MGS2 had some mods but nothing substantial.
You might say that there was no MGS2 Substance
it's really expensive for a re-release, it doesn't feel right paying that much
was it 30% cheaper, I wouldn't think it this much
these collections are kringe with a k
>tfw cfw ps3, ps2 with HDD, chipped OG xbox, RGH'd 360 slim and hacked wii
I'm racist against all ports and remasters
This shouldn't be a surprise. You couldn't even use your keyboard in MGS on PC which made this port somehow even worse than the 2000 original port. How this happens is bewildering.
I realized this the second they dropped the trailer for the collection and everyone on Ganker called me a moron for my outrageous claim that Konami would run the game at an internal 720p res
Here we are. I don’t know how people didn’t see this coming. The trailer looked like shit.
>720p
>on PC
No, no I don't think so - even if I have to throw dgvoodoo2 at it to scale the resolution.
Wait they're charging $60 for completely unupgraded ports?
Well Rockstar got away with it.
>portable ops with proper controls like PW
>someone could probably mod it so you can speed up dragging guards or auto capture once they're knocked out.
God, it'd be perfect, one can dream
As long as we get our PC ports, hope exists for modders to swoop in and make it the definitive editions.
there gunna be anyway to buy just MGS3 from this? I already played 1 and enough of 2 to know that they're trash, and 3 is the only one I played that I actually somewhat enjoyed. That bridge was the first time I experiences stealth in the franchise and felt like I actually had to think for once, and I eternally cherish that, because it's so unique for stealth to actually work. Unfortunately I played it on 3DS initially (through the demo) and when I finally pirated it, I couldn't stand the controls. So I really need this collection to be able to allow me to just buy MGS3 alone.
3 is the worst out of the first 3 games so i hope you won't be able to buy it separately you homosexual
>Le contrarian face.jpg
No that would be the high school sophomore philosophy level take on baudrillard that is MGS2. There's a reason only the dumbest audience on Earth, gamers, think it's deep
>haha look at me unique non npc character thinking MGS2 is nothing complex or deep haha
Correct, it's not, it's fricking horrendous and would make anyone with an IQ over 80 wince. The NPC take is that you thought it was when you were 11 years old and are so addled by nostalgia you can't accept you were just young and dumb
okay mr.smartass
It's a fallacy of irrelevance, and a very manipulative one for the highly dishonest.
he said
>There's a reason only the dumbest audience on Earth, gamers, think it's deep
if this isn't moral highground and contrarianism then i don't know
People will get mad at you, but you're right
The Switch version runs at 720/30. There's no information about the other versions from what I can find though?
There is no information about consoles/PC versions resolutions, yes. There is also some tweaks konami made for blupoint ports, but they didn't specify what exactly they did.
Modders will fix it. And I will pirate it.
Yes, but it's in Japanese with English voices. I don't know why they included Integral if they've got the original MGS1 and VR missions.
VR missions was never released separately in Japan.
So? That's irrelevant. This is the world wide package. Konami is pointlessly shoving in a game that's not even translated that you don't need because 1+VR Missions is in the package to begin with. This is just padding out the game number to make the price tag look less moronic.
I assume maybe it's different regional versions for different languages?
Integral apparently only supports English and Japanese subs.
I just wanna see the mods
btw Konami also invited fans
>Having press events for bundled emulators and ports running in 2004 resolutions
>Nitroid
Tell him to fix his shitty discord already. It's unusable ever since that deaf moron and his girlfriend took over the server.
>Tell him to fix his shitty discord already
You shouldn't use discord in the first place.
>konami shills get invited to konami event
>Surprise!
IGN said that they could only play the Switch versions. I'm going to assume that the other versions are running at a higher resolution.
Nintendo Life said they specifically asked Konami about other versions, and the Konami rep confirmed that all console versions were targeting 720p. Nothing was said about PC.
where does it say that? dont they also bring this out on pc, meaning i can play it on 4k 120hz?
It's confirmed to run at 720/30 on Switch only. No news on the other platforms.
i mean as long as it comes out on pc we can mod it and stuff so i imagine it wont be much of a problem
Where are you idiots getting your fricking info from

Anon delivers
> giving money to konami for reusing an old franchise after they fired it's author and turned it into shit
lmao what a cuck
>A Hideo Kojima Game
y*ng on suicide watch
they really went out of their way to scrub how name out of ZoE2 Mars but not the games he's most known for
Kojima is.
A true prophet
I uploaded the Master Miller codec calls here a few years ago if anyone wants them

How will the psycho mantis gimmick work on this version?
That will be the only part where keyboard and mouse work.
The official PlayStation blog post said that there's an option to swap the controller ports in the options menu.
>>"Ahhh, I see you like NTR VN's."
Can't wait for volume 2 with the true best game in the series that wasn't even written or directed by Kojimbo
Honestly I can't wait for Twin Snakes to finally get a rerelease.
I'm still pissed at Kojima refusing to include it in the HD collection because
>"m-muh we didn't make it so it we didn't bother including"
I DON'T CARE IF YOU DIDN'T DEVELOP TWIN SNAKES AT LEAST RERELEASE IT IN SOME FRICKING FORM
We don't know if it's locked to 720p on PS5 yet. All we know is that it is on Switch, but that's not a surprise.
>We don't know if it's locked to 720p on PS5 yet
Actually it's been confirmed
https://www.nintendolife.com/features/hands-on-metal-gear-solid-master-collection-vol-1-could-be-so-much-more-but-isnt
>We asked about performance on PS5, Xbox Series X, plus the newly announced PS4 release; Konami clarified that the games will be targeting the same resolution (720p) and frame rate of the initial HD releases
I just want Twin Snakes to be actually available outside of emulation.
>worst game in the series
But enough about MGS4.
cope twin cucks is for idiots
>FC version the what now?
I played them in an msx emulator, what is the difference?
Lots apparently. Konami had a different team make the NES port, told them to change as much as possible and Kojima distances himself from it for how different it is.
So we have the Switch to thank for this being stuck at 720p. Thanks Tendies.
No, we have Konamis laziness. There is absolutely no reason other platforms magically can't run at 60 because the Switch exists.
And there's plenty of games on the switch that run at 60FPS at resolutions above 720p. Portal duology collection anyone? Or what about the burnout paradise remaster?
What a dumb frick take
>>720p on current gen consoles
thats higher resolution than FF16 🙂
>FF16 out of nowhere
mindbroken
