You're being gaslit into thinking that modern vidya will somehow become good if only you spend that extra $2000. It won't.

1998 alone had more great games than 2010-2023 combined.
          >Baldurs Gate

A lot of those (every PC game) require a lot more than 100MHz/16MB

              Anonymous

False. The highest requirement on the list is Half Life, which is the only one that requires more than that. You may be confused because you're a zoom zoom and don't realize that most minimum requirement pages are no longer valid due to re-releases or skewing the facts, i.e. Thief "requires a duo/quad core processor" despite launching years before they existed. Everything else ran fine on 100mhz/16mb, including Starcraft: Brood War, which also launched on the N64, a console with 4mb of memory.

Lol. Try again zoom zoom. Certain 1998 games like Unreal benefited from better specs, but a PC with a 100mhz processor and 16mb of ram could run literally anything released for the platform in 1998.

Pro-tip: the most popular gaming platform in 1998 was the PS1: which had a 33mhz processor and 3mb total of ram, only 1 of which was for video.

I played HL on a Pentium 100 and 40MB of RAM, probably runs on less memory.

Oh, I forgot everyone here is eternally potatoed and saying "12x9 pixels at 1fps is all you need." Those games required 3d accelerators and the higher end P166 or 200 or better, whether you realized it or not.

                >BUT IT ONLY RUNS AT 30FPS ON 1mb OF VIDEO MEMORY
The fact that you're analyzing framerate rather than quality of gameplay is proof positive that you will always be a good goy.

It takes someone with, at the very least, a midwit intellect to appreciate the unique aspects of a video game: gameplay, presentation, immersion, etc. There's a very strong correlation between the increasing ease of assembling a PC and the rise of dipshits whining about graphics. This rise in dumbfricks polluting the audience has resulted in a decline of fun and unique experiences and an increase in fatfricks crying about visual fidelity.
