The game is interesting because it finally showed everyone what many of us already knew: Rogue Squadron was ALWAYS the best flying Star Wars game.
Further expansion on BFII is what we really needed. III with a new campaign that doesn't suck and all the bot modes imaginable. But EA wouldn't be capable of that, so maybe it's for the best.
Elite Dangerous is the most motion sick any VR game has ever made me.
Is this game like Ace Combat?
Does it have a single player campaign?
I don't know about Ace Combat, it's more like a spiritual successor to X-Wing ans TIE Fighter. But yes there is a campaign and it's pretty fun. Even though multiplayer is dead I think it also has bot matches (could be wrong on that)
>The draw of the game was supposed to be multiplayer, which is completely empty.
whaaat? a 5v5 game focused on competitive gameplay over actual fun is deaaaad?
Sad story honestly. Huge amount of I terest at launch, and even I no life it to rank 40 in the early days.
unfortunately ea didn't want to provide any long term support or new features. People were so desperate to run tournaments they rolled over and over in matchmaking finding the other teams.
And what finally killed it was exploits. The team were allowed to add the b wing due to pre order numbers. But after that they were all moved on. The shield skip exploit in particular was never fixed, and the team weren't available to work on the game anymore. So it transformed into into "who can exploit the fastest" instead of a skill game. So the players drifted off and numbers dwindled.
One day we'll have a good star wars fighter game, one where you'll be able to partake in actual battles that consist of more than two ships and bombers don't just whittle down a healthbar until the ship goes from totally fine to kaboom.
This was really just a VR gimmick game and the devs got carried away living out a childhood dream developing something like this. Ea probably regards it as nothing more than that.
Campaign is pretty bad. It's short and basically a tutorial for the multiplayer. I think there was only 2 online modes that was 5v5 and another one I couldn't do alot of because of a weird lag issue. All I remember in the 5v5 is everyone has tunnel vision. As soon as someone locks on to you, they will hunt you down to the end of the galaxy and nothing except for death with get them to disengage. It's cool you can tell your teammates to target whoever's shooting you but even when I do that and fly by teammates they are tunnelvisioned into their own target that they will chase forever.
anyway for 2 bucks its worth it. to waste a few hours And fun in VR
>What went so wrong? >What if X-Wing vs Tie Fighter but hobby-grade, campaign;genre-blended, multi-mode competitive 5v5 e-sports;meta-growth, choice + epic Starwars Heroes!
>Buggy >Balanced around HOTAS >VR was a selling point >EA
I enjoyed my time in it with Index+HOTAS but then I downloaded an update that didn't let me launch it anymore and decided frick EA
Dead game
controls are ass
what? controls are great
don't tell me you're a sticklet, cause with a proper joystick it was real fun
5v5 esports game, doomed to fail
needs a 32v32 remake
They should have just made a space battle dlc for battlefront 2(2)
Should've kept updating BG2, the cheap bastards.

I used to make fun of people who got motion sickness from games but this game made me motion sick when I tried to play it.
For me it was Gran Turismo 7 when going downhill at high speeds

campaign is good.
Higher player match count and VR only matches also
I tried to play it in VR and became violently ill within minutes, never fired it up again.
Sounds fun

It's a pretty fun vr game with a physical stick
It's not on Steam.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1222730/STAR_WARS_Squadrons/
it is?
Real pilot games are a niche genre.
>play as empire pilot
>defect to rebels
yawn

it was made for vr chads. and vr is dead. and they stopped updating it years ago
Played the campaign in VR with a Hotas and it was amazing. Well worth the 5 bucks.
Except Tie Fighter wienerpit suuuucks, can't see shit in them.
