I haven't played BG3 but I just don't see what's so special about it. I guess it's cool that there is a lot of interactivity with the game but it just seems like your standard CRPG (which I personally don't enjoy). I think the hype it got is fake in a way, everyone loves it no matter what and the only time I see any other opinion is some seething moron on Ganker who doesn't even have a coherent comment. It also reeks of bandwagoners who found out about the game for the first time and played it and go "oh wow yeah its the best game ever" just to fit in with the crowd.

I dont think its special either, its just an unusual product to get in 2023 and done in a high quality way.
Ive completed it twice and its great RPG with deep characters but a real issue with keeping the momentum of its story beats late act 2 and act 3

BG3 is to Larian what Skyrim was to Bethesda, what BG3 will lead to is more dumbed down AAA CRPGs from ubisoft and others just like how Skyrim led to the whole "rpg" lite open worlds.

Larian however will further streamline and make their games more cinematic and create a new genre of nu-crpg.
