The only game I played in that list was Witcher 3 and it wasn't very good.
I was close to playing Overwatch at least for a while but my GPU at the time couldn't run it, I believe this was close when there was an open beta test when the game was temporarily free. Now Overwatch 2 is free on Steam but I don't have any desire to play it.

It was the 1st year of a new console generation, so no, there really wasn't much else in the AAA scene, and giving the goty award to an indie or AA is taboo. No one wants to show up the guys sponsoring the event.
The Witcher 3 was to blame. Yes Skyrim preceded it and popularized open worlds, but the Witcher took that and made it accessible for the most causal gamers (including foids). The constant cutscenes and dialogue, the icon-covered map as soon as you enter a new area, the combat that looks fancy and intricate but is just served by a good animations-team, the detective vision quests, and the auto run horse
