>A long time ago there was a war between a human empire and sentient machines
>The human empire had to abandon pure technology and adapt bio-mechanical technology because the machine race were able to easily hack all their technology
>they literally built entire buildings out of flesh that can heal
>centuries later these abandoned buildings are harvested for food by tribes
>they literally eat buildings that heal itself therefor having an endless supply of food
Any other games with weird ass lore?
yea the lore to Warframe is nuts.
its hard to believe such a setting would still have planets like earth still inhabitable at all.
pseud trash
where does the 2 gay guys controlling giant statues in a giant fight that ends up with them caressing each other fit in this
Now if only they could make gameplay even 1% as interesting as the lore....
What, are you not enjoying the enti-fun mechanic #10325702385?
Don't worry, they are working on anti-fun mechanic #10325702386 and #10325702387 for the next major update IN ADDITION to annoying game-mode nobody asked for #98364t79802769842176981239608721309!
almost.
its closer to
>a long time ago humans absolutely fricking feared a machine uprising.
>they used bio-mechanical technology for a long time
>eventually had to make a machine race, gave them sentience and sent them on a suicide mission
>the machines were fricking pissed about it and started a war for the sole reason of being sent on a suicide mission.
also, you forgot that the meat buildings are actually sentient, and some of them are perfectly fine with being harvested.
>some of them are perfectly fine with being harvested.
What about the ones that aren't?
we dont know about those ones.
the only orokin tower we "know" is the unum who actually instructs her local tribe (ostrons) on which parts are fine to harvest and which should be left alone for the time being.
Where in the game can you actually find any of this out?
Well mainly at the lakeside part of cetus hub and some scannable codex objects.
There's also a main quest new war iirc where you enter the unum tower for some time shenanigans
so is it mostly just background text that you can read since the devs have no idea how to integrate it like every other game with interesting lore but dogshit plot
The game's main gameplay is proceduraly generated 4 player missions, which most of the time is just killing mobs in corridors.
It's integrated the best possible way, since the game is very grindy. If you added lore-heavy stuff to farmable missions you would end up like destiny 2 where players hear the same npc dialoge hundreds of time while farming for weapons.
The world is out there if players want to read it, but its not required if you just want to run 4hr survivals.
I agree that most of orokin tech is not really flesh out (lel). Most of the time "it just works",
but I also think you cant explain it more and not get into pointless details.
interbreasting
No, not really. The lore and all that is there and you do get to engage with it during a few quests sprinkled here and there. There's one big plot the covers the entire game, but during those quests its treated like a footnote. That big overarching plot concluded a few years ago and we havent had such an overarching plot since then. The man behind the original story left to make a different game and the new lady in charge makes kinda episodic story/updates. And every frame gets it own quest to detail more about their background and such.
The game up to Second Dream was absolutely phenomenal, most people agree with that.
And now we have a whole questline where a couple of homosexuals hug eachother.
you can say what you want about warframe as a game, but the lore, aesthetics and concept art is some of the most unique scifi i have ever seen
>lore, aesthetics and concept art is some of the most unique scifi i have ever seen
look up keith thompson, he's been doing a ton of the concept art since the very beginning, volt was his original design
half the reason warframe is interesting at all is because of keith
did he design excalibur for dark sector? or was that someone else?
I don't think so, I'm pretty sure he started with de on warframe
Its a shame its trapped under such an obnoxious business model
I feel like that could be said about so many things
>Find a cute design for a girl
>From a gacha
>Find a cool design for a class
>From an MMO
So on and so forth
its one of the least obnoxious f2p games ever and it gets constant updates so thats not a problem
the problem is thats its a directionless mess
it's literally diablo immortal lite
not being as bad doesn't make it good
no it isnt. not in the slightest
have you ever actually played the game?
yes
RNG and timers out the ass, pointlessly long grind, limited slots, all designed to make you (or some other player) spend money to skip the bullshit
>anon discovers a f2p mmo
there's a huge difference between Diablo Immortals and Warframe
Yeah, people actually play the PVP in one of those games.
what does that have to do with anything?
everything
Literally the least predatory big MMO on the market
What other game lets you get all the premium currency you'll ever need from just trading with other players
Can you frick it?
Well?
Answer the question Mr. Depp!
>sex with buildings
>"Oh yesssss... Human open my door!"
>"OH YESSSSS!!!!!! SHUT MY DOOR AND OPEN IT AGAIN!"
>"SLAM ME!! SLAM ME SHUT!!!!!!!!!!!!"
imagine the kids
That picture reminds me of Made in Abyss
>they literally eat buildings that heal itself therefor having an endless supply of food
What do the buildings eat to heal
don't worry about that
probably rocks, like how trees do
the building was made by a race that (almost) hit godhood.
is that enough explanation or do i need to explain kuva.
More importantly: are there feral buildings that hunt others to eat them?
Maybe they have toilets inside
dirt
energy
>see OP in catalog
>think it's sickass JRPG or manga concept art
>it's Warframe
Well damn. I understand now why people have been raving about its lore for so long but I'd rather have never known.
I absolutely love bio mechanical suits but Warframe managed to make them look ridiculously gaudy and lame. I remember playing this game like 7 or so years ago and It took would take days just to get 1 single gun. I pity Warframe players if it's still like that
The wait time is still 24h for guns and 3 days for frames but chinks sell plat for so cheap only morons wait.
>Spend money on monopoly money
I think you're a little mixed up on which is moronic
Ah, sorry, I forgot that most of you are unemployed... My bad.
Time is also money moron.
crafting timers havent changed, but the current set of endgame weapons isnt craft locked.
you instead have to hunt down a nemesis enemy and you'll get its gun for killing it.
they have skins bro
does warframe have a good game under the mess of everything or do you have to go through the ten years of random bullshit to get to the nuggets of good stuff?
>go through the ten years of random bullshit
Just this part
If you know exactly what you are doing and go on an optimal path, in 25-40 hours you can have a strong warframe that instant kills hundreds of enemies in a second. That part is the only reason the game is popular with most people that still play, but you won't get there that quickly without lots of help. But you also gets lots of free game mobile tier time gate bullshit on everything and offers to skip everything by paying inside almost every useful menu. Also the devs have filled the game with content islands that only give you one useful item for the entire game and tons of things that are only useful there.
the ostron are subhumans
The horror of the first time doing the big war mission and that kid popping up on your screen extra close so you can see their fricked up fish eyed faces was really jarring and made me wish they were wiped out by the Grineer.
> understand the concept of love
UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND
>Read post
>Immediatelty imagine the song playing faintly and echoing in a fleshy building
>Giggle like a moron
Not a game but Book of the New Sun lore is horrifying at times, I really wish a game would adopt the same style of storytelling and lore because it is fricking awesome. I think the closest we've ever gotten is like, I guess Dark Souls if you ignore the copious retcons across games or Ivalice Alliance outside how generally tame those games are with the exclusion of Vagrant Story.
That looks like shit
Okay?
Some of the actual lore for AdventureQuest is amusing, especially when they actually affect the plot. For instance, the MC of AQW is actually the God of the setting. He got so depressed that everyone in his universe died that he stole the divinity from every other god in existence and merged their universes into one giant hodgepodge, which explains why AQW has such anachronistic tech and stuff like that. Practically everything that still remembers the time before the big merge absolutely despises him for being the largest mass murderer in existence.
Another important lore bit is that there is a kingdom that receives a blessing of black snow every year, which brings about a great harvest. You discover that the black crystals are actually specks off of the corpse of the goddess they worship, and the first king made a contract with her so she can revive years later.
I still need to finish BotNS. Started Claw about a month ago, but haven't had the time to read.
That sounds like standard goddess worship literature, almost stereotypically so.
The first or second one? That kind of literature isn't the most familiar to me, so I thought it was unique. There's more to the second one, but I was too lazy to type it out.
The first one about AventureQuest. I know nothing about the series, but your summary makes it seem like it hits all the beats of goddess Sophia mythology.
Ah, that Demiurge stuff? There isn't a god above (You) in AQW, so it's not a one to one. For all intents and purposes, the new creator is the singular true god of the setting. I thought it was neat since his true identity is the player character, who goes around helping everyone and is genuinely well liked by almost everyone he meets. Usually the Demiurge is presented as a misguided villain, from what I can recall.
The OP is referring to Warframe.
There was that shitty film that did this and the alien invaders were humans using biotech.
The timers made me quit this game. Shame, the gameplay itself was fun.
I'm 1000% convinced Warframe's lore is just DE making shit up as they go along.
That's been obvious for years. Try asking a warframe lore "expert" what the Lotus is.
GOON TO REBB
i don't like israeliteess so no
Hang on, this picture is an abstract representation of vaginoplasty
KEITH THOMPSON KINO
I want a game based on The Night Lands
This guy's life story is pretty interesting
>became a sailor at 13
>became buff as shit to beat up people that bullied him
>became a photographer
>had beef with houdini
>rode a bicycle down a steep street, which became public news for some reason
>decided to start writing
>writes a shitload of nautical stories
>drops an absolute schizo masterpiece, literally inspires HP Lovecraft
>doesn't write anything else
>decides to become an officer in WW1, gets a fricking shell dropped on him
caves of qud, death stranding, grim dawn, and kingdom come deliverance have muh favorite lore
my favourite lore for caves of qud is the convicted pedophile cuckold dev who has a sex shaman for a wife who leads the household
Shes in the game and cant even die
Got any good lore on DS or KCD? I’ve played both but never finished DS. I always complete the story missions for the big map where you get the truck but don’t want to move till I 100% it then drop it and start all over again. What’s with the Egyptian stuff?
Creeper world came to mind
you are fighting sentient (evil) - self replicating water
well what the frick is it?
Splicers?
there's a story or two within the xeelee sequence that feature sentient buildings
Jesu Cristo..
need more warframe bunda
warframe lore was cool but the devs shat it all up and ruined the mystique over the years
grineer and corpus being turned into comedic relief, stupid kids showing up, sentients jobbing, orokin family sitcoms, etc
>they literally eat .... that heal itself therefore having an endless supply of food
Fire punch reference?
