A millenial told me that while TF2 is a good game, its not really a team fortress and therefore is a shit sequel.
What do you guys think?

*pbbbttttt*
>tfc grenade spam is better
No different to pipe, sticky and rocket spam
>every class spamming is better than only 2 classes spamming
delusional
tell him to kill himself for thinking tfc grenade spam is better than tf2
tf2 is superior to tfc in every measurable way
MEDIC
EXCUSE ME, I'M IN NEED OF MEDICAL ATTENTION
My millennial manager said basically the same thing when I said I played a lot of TF2, but moreso that it was just fine
team fortress 1 was pretty different in terms of art style and mood. i could see why a lot of TF1 fans wouldn't like TF2 that much at first. i played TF1 a bit back in the day and it was cool but it seemed like the game/classes just wasn't really developed out enough to be as fun as TF2.
>team fortress 1 was pretty different in terms of art style and mood. i could see why a lot of TF1 fans wouldn't like TF2 that much at first.
TF1 fans hated TF2, there's an entire source mode dedicated to making a proper sequel to it in their eyes. It was actually fun but alas, the era of source mods has long past us.
Pyro with a tribes jetpack is great. The only version of him that isn't pure trash
TF2C has a pretty good pyro. Pyro isn't allowed to be good though, it pisses people off
This is also why people dog on him so much in regular TF2.
Before the recent nerfs TF2C pyro was ridiculous but nobody noticed because pyro players are too busy huffing glue and slurping cum to play the game with more than 1 hand.
I distinctly remember loads of people screaming about pyro being broken in tf2c. From what I gather it's because he had a really strong afterburn. Though funnily enough you didn't exactly see the game turn into sheer pyrospam for it.
The afterburn got buffed in what the devs called a nerf so alot of tryhards were shitting on it but it was nothing compared to his raw DPS. Pyro medic combos could just suicide bomb on tight maps and kill nearly the entire enemy team solo
Even when Pyro was genuinely considerably strong with the unnerfed flamethrower, he had the same weaknesses as normal Pyro. He has to approach and his mobility didn't really allow for it.
Twin barrel harvester is a ton of fun, though. Probably the most fun I've ever had with Pyro.
I don't think Fortress Forever came about because people hated TF2's art style, but more because TF2 was taking fricking years to come out when all the TFC fanbase really wanted was a source version of TFC.
observe how this trailer has a similar humor to release-era TF2.
It definitely was made to please older fans of the series. It predates TF2 and I think even the reveal trailers but many of the oldheads who play it don't like TF2's complete tonal shift and more casual style of gameplay.
TF2 is the worst game I've ever played. GTA Online unironically has less cheaters.
Ok but what do you think about the game?
Its fundamentally shit
why?
Awful netcode, terrible hitboxes, terrible hit registration, gameplay is mindless spam, map design is shit
It's shit. You're shit. Everything even remotely related to Team Fortress, IS SHIT.
Someone once summed up the older Team Fortress games as you being able to bypass a team spamming sentry guns by using the games more generous movement mechanics to go fast and nab the flag (ctf was the primary gamemode). And that when tf2 decided to nerf the movement mechanics it compensated by giving the medic uber which was the intended solution for sentry spam.
The older approach certainly sounded more fun and didn't rely on people playing a role that few players actually want to play.
It's a very different game, and I don't fault him at all for feeling that way. I never played the first Team Fortress but love TF2.
That's where I, the guy who actually likes to play every class in the game, comes into the picture. I like babysitting the team and shooting syringes at people.
>That's where I, the guy who actually likes to play every class in the game, comes into the picture.
Unless you literally don't because you don't happen to join a given server.
TFC was about attackers suiciding over and over for the flag while defenders repeatedly kill people who aren't even trying to fight them. TF2 is about actually fighting people and is much better off for it.
That's basically tf2 in ctf as well. TF2's big change was shifting the focus to gamemodes other than ctf.
Which is why the majority of the dev time went into a gamemode that had all of cancerous tumors of CTF but without any of the fun
tf had a much higher skill cap and plebs could easily get btfo'd by anyone good because they move 60% faster thanks to bhop and 500% faster thanks to conc jumping
based af
It's a good GAME, is just not a good ZELDA game
If TF2 is a bad Zelda game, then it is a bad game PERIOD.
Its more of a Team Fortress than the original ever was
explain
NTA but he's probably referring to how team fortress's defining quality was having a class system and tf2 does more to make the classes seem distinct from one another than the old team fortress games did.
>A millenial told me that while TF2 is a good game
I played Team Fortress 2 for about 15 hours when it first released. It was so bad that I uninstalled it and haven't played it since, yet I have around 600 hours in Team Fortress Classic and still play it to this day 24 years later. TF2 one of the worst sequels I have ever seen and I believe the only people that defend it are people who haven't the previous Team Fortress games.
>It was so bad that I uninstalled it and haven't played it since
It's not really worth bragging about playing a game once, then dropping it immediately. Especially a game like TF2 that had about 10 years of content and balance updates.
The game isn't TFC, true. But it has become an entirely different beast with different sorts of appeal.
I mean, even the most diehard aussie boomers QWTF players played TF2 enough give pyro an airblast when they made the fortressone mod.
>It's not really worth bragging about playing a game once, then dropping it immediately. Especially a game like TF2 that had about 10 years of content and balance updates.
The game was horrible at launch. Why would anyone play it again after such a horrible first experience with it? That's not anyone's fault but Valve that they made a terrible game at launch, and it's certainly ludicrous to expect anyone to keep playing a terrible game that drip feeds them minor improvements over a 16 year period until the game is playable.
>16 year period until the game is playable.
it didn't take that long and you know it.
>even the most diehard aussie boomers QWTF players played TF2 enough give pyro an airblast when they made the fortressone mod
That actually makes me wish people actually played that mod.
Wrong, TF2 is extremely good Team Fortress game, TF1 is a shit original installment.
What an epic post. Are you going to explain why?
tf2 is actually unique, tfc is no different from other shooters of the era
Class systems literally weren't a thing in that era. Hell back then the idea that you could just pick the weapon you wanted instead of having to find it in the map was a novel concept.
Talking of course about the actual original team fortress and not tfc.
Quake TF was the first fps with headshot mechanics, even predating N64 Goldeneye
How many shooters that you know of from before 2000 have anything close to TF's engineer or spy classes?
TF2 is a more refined version of the previous games. Anyone saying otherwise is a jaded boomer.
What are some good conscientous objector decals?
