Pity it is run by absolute morons.
Is it?
Check the steam page for prices on their cosmetic shit. They want to run AA priced game with PoE tier microtransactions on top.
Wait, what? I thought they marketed themselves as a 1 time payment, so microtransactions kinda thing?
the cosmetics won't show up if you play offline.
i was thinking i might buy a pack because i like LE, but seeing as i only play offline; why bother?
Maybe they did way back when, currently it is upfront price plus microtransactions for cosmetic shit.Which is especially funny as they tried to weasel out of having offline mode, but kept it in only to make paid cosmetics unavailable when you play offline.
gotta yar har for the best experience as usual
>PoE microtransactions
no they dont, their microtransactions are purely cosmetic
PoE has things that affect gameplay like stash tabs
PoE's stash tabs have the same box price as Last Epoch.
Do they? They keep adding seasonal content with a lot of garbage loot to sell more stashes...
They stopped doing that after being called out for it. Now you get them for free.
>Do they?
Yes,
https://www.pathofexile.com/shop/category/stash-tabs
Buying all the relevant currency specific tabs (which you need; like you could live an unhappy life cramming things into premium tabs for less money but then you miss out on auto-sorting, auto-upgrading, and other quality of life shit) costs about $45 USD or so.
That's leaving out the flask tab, the uniques tab, and only having one Premium tab (but really you're going to want like 4 so that you can have a quick dump tab for cheap items to AH, an expensive tab, and a hand priced tab, and a spare tab) + the 3 or whatever free default non-premium tabs, assuming you're going to play a Trade league (which most people do).
For a while now every league that has added a new category of item just comes with a box you can dump them in, and the ones that go core have that box put in there.
For the campaign you need 0 extra tabs. For early mapping you don't need any. If you're doing serious end game you definitely need stash tabs. Currency + Map + Premium is the starter pack people recommend, with Fragments being the next, then probably a quad stash tab. Don't listen to the guy talking about the flask or uniques tab, they're terrible. I played for years and 1k+ hours with Map + Currency + Premium + Fragment.
>not a unique collecting enjoyer
why even play these games if you're not going for the grail
Because trying to pass off the autistic need of collecting every unique (which is an understandable feeling) as a criticism of the game and saying you have to buy one of the more expensive stash tabs is totally disingenuous. The unfortunate fact of the matter is 95% of uniques in PoE are garbage or are okay but will be quickly worthless a few days into a league and the stuff worth anything can just be stuck in a regular stash tab.
Also wait for a stash tab sale before buying stash tabs. They happen every few weeks and the prices are more reasonable but still dumb. But ultimately I have 3k hours in the game so I don't care about spending $30-40 on stash tabs for a f2p game. But I also do firmly believe that you will hit a point where you're juggling your stash more than having fun if you don't buy any at the end game, which is a very fair criticism.
this anon speaks the truth
I've played for almost 5k hours and all I have is currency, card, fragment and a like 4 premium tabs. Oh, I also have a delve tab which I kinda regret buying because I don't really do delve and it's pretty much empty every league.
All this was maybe 30$ total. You barely need anything more than that unless you're really planning to grind your ass out 10+ hours per day
So sounds like they have exact same price for the full game
No amount of mtx is acceptable
do you have any self awareness? there is literally 0 power sold in this game and your problem with it is that you cant put your character in a pink skirt for slightly cheaper than they offer? you dont need any microtransactions, go back to your phone games for that.
>it is okay to sell vanity in a non f2p game
how does that corporate boot taste?
If you buy a game, the only time you should spend further money on it is maybe expansions.
You cannot possibly defend microtransaction shops in a b2p title.
Literally the only place microtransactions are okay are f2p games, and ONLY if they don't buy you power.
shitty opinion, id rather buy a 30 dollar game than a 70 dollar game where i have troony suits
hyped for 1.0 but early access has so far been maybe 6/10, itemization is really good but it needs some additional polish to get anywhere close to d2/poe or even d3 in my book
How cute you actually think putting a 1.0 in front of the game will magically fix everything.
it's a big update
>will magically fix everything.
RoS and loot2.0 fixed a lot of D3
>it's a big update that means it will fix everything!
Yeah no my post still stands.
if it bumps it from 6/10 to 7.5/10 I'm pretty damn happy because it means I'll sink at least a solid 100 hours into it
Can I turn into godzilla? That's all I want from a game.
You can turn into mothra, that's the build I'm gonna nolife in 5 days when 1.0 comes out
>Tencent
>pozzed
>soidevs
>cash shop
>premium currency
>shit optimisation
hey goy, you can just pirate it, it's good game.
The game is good but I won't pay 30$ for game with microtransaction shit.
How easy is it to play this in co-op? Can you do the campaign cooperatively? My girlfriend and I want to play an ARPG together. Diablo IV is too simple, and PoE filters her (I love PoE), so I was hoping with the 1.0 release we could clear the campaign and do some end game together.
Also I heard there are factions for trading vs no trading. Can you still group up in a party for no trading? Or is it totally a Solo Self Found type of deal?
You can do co-op yes. You can group up no matter what faction you're doing. All loot drops will be tagged so if you're in the self found faction at the time a piece of gear drops you cant sell those items later. Anyone present in your party when the item drops can be traded the item though no matter what faction you're in so it wont affect your coop experience you can share all loot.
Poe is much better for dopamine if that's what you're looking for. You're right that the visuals are lacking. Speed is lacking too. Movement speed is a stat you can scale somewhat but nowhere fricking near the same extent as Poe and that isn't an issue solely for movement speed. Poe has so much more room for theorycrafting. I've played both for hundreds of hours and Poe is the better arpg by far.
It's just as far as available arpgs go there is such a limited option for good ones and Last Epoch happens to be one of them. It's a 6/10, I hope this update bumps it up to a 7
Been looking forward to Last Epoch's release, and I am interested in playing the 1.0, but I am not sure what I want to play. I checked out a brief overview of the classes, and some of them look neat but I am gonna be honest... the combat looks kinda unsatisfying from an effects perspective. Like maybe it was just old footage, but it seems to lack impact. Even PoE, an old as frick game, updated a lot of their effects so that moves are satisfying to use. But still, it should be nice to play something different that isn't D4 since that game ended up sucking.
Visuals are lacking honestly, even more so on anything melee, Necro b***h, and wizard probably has the best ones by nature of being spellacasters.
Lightning based runemaster or sorcerer is probably the best looking class I've seen in arpg, it felt really satisfying. The necro was fun too.
People keep recommending runemaster but surely it is gonna get nerfed if it is so strong, right? I liked the idea of Sorcerer because it was based around big spells, but if it sucks compared to Runemaster I might just do that.
>because it was based around big spells
you will be disappointment just like me, black hole and meteor are kinda trash. Lightning is fun though.
Also runemaster will be nerfed but it's too OP now, I doubt that this will ruin it.
>new ARPG era
>not epoch
One fricking job, anon.
it's fun and the combat is pretty good but everything else in the game is so bad. some of the zones look good, some of them look like a PS2 game. the level design is awful, it doesn't try to fulfill the rpg aspect of arpg's at all. grim dawn is still the goat
>new GD expansion this year
I too am waiting for Fangs of Asterkarn.
>they covered up the girls
>have to play as a nig for warrior classes
>AAAAAAAAAH MOMMY THE PALADIN IS BLACK! HE IS BLACK MOMMY! HELP ME MOMMY!
You should instead be complaining that the devs are so obsessed with D2 that they made the Paladin a black guy because they lack originality. Also, frankly, you are playing an isometric game where your character wears a helmet for 99.9% of the run time so you don't even know the guy is black.
>Also, frankly, you are playing an isometric game where your character wears a helmet for 99.9%
same old excuse
This game sucks btw all.
Why aren't you also complaining about having to be black in Diablo 2 to play as the Paladin? Or having to be a woman to be a mage? Or as a woman to be an assassin? Or as a ginger to be a druid?
There is nothing political about it, you schizo. It is just Diablo 2 worship like every other ARPG. The game contains more men than women, and if you want to be the based white male then just be a Druid or a Wizard.
I have zero issue with D3 Witch Doctor, nigs don't belong to european armor, if you want to earn ESG point make a manlet jap in samurai armor or some shit
Okay, and your opinion on Diablo 2's Paladin? Was blizzard appealing to ESG then?
same gay shit
this homie was the inspiration for D2 paladin
The D2 Paladin looked more like a Spanish Moor or Tunisian, then in Ressurected they made him into a ghetto sub saharan 80iq street thug.

Friendly reminder that LE will be the first ARPG where loot doesn't really matter. Brilliant design choice.
>July 18th
>2023
Thread is 21 pages, and the last post was 2 days ago.
The game is piss easy and borderline brainless.
>MP update comes out and big hype wave happens
>literally no one cares two days later
It will never be popular
It'll have a lot of players when 1.0 releases and then taper off and once PoE's new league comes out in late March the game will be forgotten about. Unfortunately it is impossible to compete against PoE and D4. The blizzard fanboys and morons will play D4, and then everyone else into ARGPs will play PoE. And then PoE2's beta will come out and everyone will play that until PoE2 releases.
I have a lot of issues with PoE and GGG, but you just cannot compete with them. They probably have the greatest "live service" game ever made. No other game, even ones made by AAA studios with 10x the budget, are able to put out as much content as them consistently.
I prefer GD to PoE since it isn't online only.
I do hate online only things, but PoE is free to play (until you get to endgame and need stashtabs) so I find it acceptable. GD is still neat, but it feels more like something you beat once and then stop until they release a full expansion. I actually haven't played any of the DLC/Expansions for GD, I should give them a try.
>D4 launches
>Their first few seasons are basically nothing and the game bleeds players
>They are rushing to try to put together their expansion and to have more substantial seasons
>Last Epoch doing the same
They never learn, what the frick
It is stupid as frick, they treat 1.0 as a soft launch as i guess their finances are getting worse, meaning the whole year they will be making it into release with first season being what an actual release should have looked like in the first place.
The big thing about POE2 will be if betting on slower, methodical dodge gameplay and telegraphs is what people want and you lose out on the broken speed demon screen clearing shit that POE1 is. Despite the dev saying so, you cannot have both of these existing at the same time.
I personally believe that once the game comes out and there are just a few leagues of power creep PoE2 will be much closer to PoE1 than people expect. Not that I am defending them, but GGG is pretty notorious for making the most moronic characters to show off their content so that monsters are not dying in two seconds. The most famous recent example is from their live PoE2 demos at Exilecon. Everyone was struggling hard because they had 30 minutes to play, and after checking their gear they were using weapons 20 levels lower than them with basically no stats. Meanwhile Kripp had an hour to play and literally just spent 10 minutes crafting a weapon and suddenly he was killing everything super fast.
I do think it is a risk and there will be people who won't like it, but I think most people are just gonna hop onto the game with better graphics and where most of the team/budget will be dedicated. It would take PoE2 being a serious disaster for PoE1 to have a significant playerbase. Especially cause all your cosmetics and stashtabs are brought over to PoE2, so even the whales have a reason to switch.
PoE2 will be a huge hit because "gamers" in general are always in need of new stuff. But PoE players put up with all the anti-player stuff, outdated graphics and dull as frick maps because of the gambling addiction and the speed demon screen clearing like the other anon said. Unless PoE2 manages to attract a new audience I think a lot of them will go back to PoE after it loses the release momentum.
We'll have to see how fast and autistic end game PoE2 is, and my money is it being closer to PoE1 than people think based on GGG's controlled demos and videos. If you showed someone who never played PoE1 before what some of the end game PoE1 builds are like, they'd never play the game. But I could definitely be wrong.
POE2 probably won't have free respecs, and will basically frick itself over again
Respecs just make it to where you play the bis leveling tree and skill then respec. Having to find the middle ground between final build and leveling is more enjoyable.
>the d2 approach where you have 17 skill points banked so you can distribute them optimally when you unlock skills
>something that only matters for people who give a shit about BIS shit or following guides
There is a difference from being POE popular, and D3/D4 popular/sales. There is a reason that after all the red flags, and the state of D3, D4 still sold a ton.
>easy to acquire
Just like regret orbs are with trading, except new players don't know shit about that and we will see how "east to acquire" gold will be or if it scales like Diablo does.
>D4 still sold a ton.
Selling a ton is piss easy in our day and age, Wolcen despite being absolute garbage sold metric ton and even more. How? Popular streamers shilling. Catch is, LE want to milk customers with cash shop and for this you need consistent online which popular streamers can't provide.
I really liked my wolcen playthrough, the whole cheesy powertrip of a story was a blast compared to most arpgs and it has the most aesthetic armor too
shame the twin resource system was such a piece of shit
they've said respecs will cost gold (easy to aquire). poe2 will have gold.
>Especially cause all your cosmetics and stashtabs are brought over to PoE2
I don't really follow PoE2 news but this one is too damn nice to hear.
twitchgays might prop it into relevancy, but i doubt it will stick to the same extend as poe
Unless they can release new leagues/seasons every 3-4 months with new skills, items, uniques, monsters, bosses, content, etc then no, it can't. I don't know what taskmaster they have over at GGG forcing those frickers to work but they got them in the mines.
>new leagues/seasons every 3-4 months
First season is dated to start a year after release or so, yes they are that moronic.
Wait is killing me
>there's actually a Marvel Heroes emulator
>but its not really functional yet
FUN isn't back yet. LE isn't bad, it's just another low spectacle snoozefest.
Been wanting to find a good ARPG to replace Reddit's favourite online casino that is PoE but this one doesn't look like a good candidate. Maps are much better but everything else is meh. Specially the characters, armour design, etc.
I'd rather buy Chaosbane next time it goes on sale.
>no WASD movement
dead on arrival
Ah yes, the bots are here.
You look like a frick of meatable piece
>no WASD movement
new era? more like dead on arrival
>not having actual character customization/creation in 2024
>will charge $30 for some shit cosmetics tho
kusoge
>buy game to play exclusively offline
>game needs a connection to their servers at all times
>refund
I hope it's cracked day one
That's what you fricks said about Lost Ark
Have you actually played Last Epoch, it's barely any better than D4.
>it's barely any better than D4
It's very clearly much better than D4 in almost every way.
buhbuhbuhbuht my autobomber build bro
bro muh crafting bro
that diablo hoodie guy played LE and shit his pants over how awesome it was
then like, dropped game and never touched it again lul
these people have a frickin disease
>that diablo hoodie guy
Raxx is pretty alright imo.
It sounds superficial but I dropped the game after seeing the black paladin. And then the first major leader you meet being a woman. It's all so derivative. I got my money back and am gonna put it towards something worthwhile.
Lmao this is as creatively barren as you can possibly get as APRG. I can basically see how they were thinking something like
>Shiet we want MTX gravy train like the bald moron has, we need to clone his game
This is so bad, they even ripped off character concepts
>D2 paladin
>PoE ranger
>Some combination of D2 druid and barb, likely the most original character there
>PoE templar
>PoE witch
Seriously, there is seemingly not a shred of original thought put into it, it's like they are trying to rub into your face WE DON'T GIVE A FRICK WE JUST WANT MTX MONEY LIKE GGG.
Not to mention they found nothing better than to make their fame on un*ty lmao. At this point it's insultin.
>ripped off character concepts
homie its 2024, the core rpg class system has been a thing for half a century by now
Every single attempt at trying to create something "original" in the ARPG genre has failed massively. Last Epoch isn't trying to make some crazy revolutionary shit, they just made a good game with some good ideas. It's a solid 7.5/10 ARPG that's somewhere in between D4 and PoE. The only thing that's worrisome about the game is how long the endgame will last, and how fast they can put out new content post-release.
t. ARPG addict
Game is fun, bought a year ago in early access. Only problem is that it's WAY too easy. There's no challenge. Can't seem to find any indication that there's higher difficulty modes added in 1.0, though I'm assuming there is hopefully.
Oh look, Lost Ark 2.0.
The game is not that good. The campaign is far too long and with not enough replayability for long-term success. They have to shorten their campaign length or add difficulty tiers to make people come back for the long-term and in order to compete with PoE and Diablo 2. The game goes on for too long during the campaign and it's just you moving in a more-or-less straight line holding down one button for 15+ hours, picking up what feel like very minor upgrades to your character's equipment. The story is boring and you forget about it within 15 minutes of starting the game, wanting to fast-track to the endgame. There is no real lore to be found or imagined.
Personally I feel, the game overall is a trainwreck, and that it needs a lot of changes for long-term success. The combat feels loose and flaccid, like a limp noodle every time you attack. There is no weight to any of the attacks.
Last Epoch's campaign takes casually 5-6 hours and this is not me bullshitting like poe players do when they say "campaign takes 3 hours for a pro maybe 4 for a noob just get some levelling uniques bro" when poe's is 8 hours minimum and an actual slog. If you think you're picking up minor upgrades you dont know how to use the crafting and loot filter. Picking up items (ones that pass through your tailored lootfilter) during the campaign is extremely rewarding. The transition to endgame is so smooth you can do it halfway through the campaign if you've been picking up and crafting shit. 99% of arpg players give 0 fricks about the story.
Skipping the campaign with an alternate level route isn't a bad idea, more options are always good. I agree there's not enough flashy effects and weight to attacks for most of the skills
You've been playing this game for probably years you stupid frickwit. Frick your opinion you mouth-breathing idiot. It takes way more than that.
You're a filthy liar
Frick off moron, you're just bad. I've played it for 2 weeks for around 100 hours
What IQ do you have to be to get fooled by fake 1.0 releases from games that have been in early access for 5 years?
>2024
>gender locked classes and no character customization
Holy shit, we're back to early 2000s MMORPGs.
I only played marksman rogue but all the skills feel like autoattacks. I did a few empowered monoliths and so far the game is too easy. I was expecting the game to slap me around every time I progressed to next monolith but nothing changed.
wont steam refund early access shit regardless of hours played? i got into this shit before tencents greedy fingers smeared shit all over it and the games not turning into what it was going to when i paid for it. got like 30 hours in it. i actually havn't touched it since they went full moron with the account shit etc.
What the frick is that new trend of ARPGS locking all good looking items behind $$$ store?
Getting cool looking drops was one of the major draws of ARPG ever.
And no they took it from us and locked behind money.
Frick them.
>cool looking shit a major draw
>in a genre where Grimnars Laser Edged Vibro-Axe of Murdering Everything in the universe +40 legendary can have the same model as Woodcutters Axe. because its a randomly generated legendary, not the shitty unique one with half the stats.
>Getting cool looking drops was one of the major draws of ARPG ever.
in what games? d2 uniques are all just recolours of the base item
I like GD's transmog system where you can put basically any piece of gear's cosmetic on any character. They also made a "mace" that looks like a shield on purpose so your character looks like he is dual-wielding shields.
then they made a build that actually dual wields shields.
and its fricking moronic.
or was last time i played idk about now.
Some guy on youtube who played D4 already has 1300 hours played.
Could you be absolutely more insane than playing 1300 hours of D4 since release? Do any of you even know what good games are anymore?
1300 hours in less than a year is balls-to-the-wall insanity
>3.6 hours a day is balls to the walls insanity
it is you turbonerd
>tfw 1100 hours of csgo in a decade and it's my most played game
I dropped poe because they changed rf and the usual pohx build needed changes

Ill play it until the POE2 open beta comes out.
it looks like a rehash of d2/poe. as soon i saw i was in for a shitty campaign full of fog of war mazes (and slow gameplay) i refunded.
how about something new?
is necromancer good like in D2 or is it shit like in D3/D4/Path of Exile
I like PoE specters, what is your beef with them? Also, guild wars have best necromancer.
Game is alright but it looks and feels too much like PoE and D3 to the point I didn't feel like I was playing a new game.
Like an undead dungeon or blue cave looks like the same act 1 areas in PoE and then the desert cities look like act 2 from D3.
Also not a huge fan of the items since nothing that drops is all that interesting. Maybe as a base that I can use to upgrade via crafting but nothing that drops made me excited. It all feels like incremental upgrades. Same with the skill system, it feels like incremental upgrades was well.
>Grim Dawn Expansion
>Last Epoch
Wish there was more kino in this genre incoming but those are still something to look forward to.
If this has proper controller support I might buy it.
Otherwise I will play the free version, depending if they plan to make seasons where they change things to keep the game fresh.
What ARPGs do you all like?
>D2(R) and it's mods
>D3 for a week or two per season
>Sacred 1 (reborn mod)
>PoE (even if it's a bloated mess right now)
titan quest / grim dawn / torchlight / van helsing / wolcen / D4 were meh
Grim Dawn
Titan Quest
Diablo 1 and 2
Torchlight 1 and 2
Sacred 1 and 2
Fate
Van Helsing
Last Epoch
Throne of Darkness, Darkstone and Nox were fun, too
None, really. Not my type of games, I just don't find senseless grind to be its own reward, which is why I gained the most enjoyment out of PoE due to its well crafted world and atmosphere.
Path of Exile is my favorite and probably the best, but I still like plenty of others. Grim Dawn, Diablo 1/2, Torchlight, Nox, I even played the Van Helsing one but that had a weird Tower Defense part that pissed me off.
Hades
Isn't that more of a rouge-like or is it a hybrid of the two?
I'd say it counts as both.
D2, Titan Quest, Grim Dawn, Torchlight 1
I wanted to like Torchlight 2 but it would never stop crashing once I got into act 3 so I never finished it. Probably a hardware issue on my old PC but I never went back to it.
>Titan Quest
will there be something that matches the atmosphere and feel of this?
This is probably the only arpg where I actually was interested in the story.
Titan Quest 2 duh
I've tried most of the ARPGs out there, I think. The only one that stands out for me is one that's not very well known (because it's more of an "adventure with puzzles" type of game anyway) which is Shadows: Awakening and the reason I like that one is because I can play monsters rather than just humans. I wish there was a similar game like that with more depth and good end game.
Shining Soul 2 lets you play as Dragon Men and shit.
what build are you playing on 1.0 launch? for me its Lightning Net Falconer.
>multistrike paladin
I'm a simple man, I hit things with sword and block with shield
warclock for the range spells and mage since I only play such games for the cool magic. Maybe some necro too.
Ballista Falconer
want to try out the new gathering storm they just put out
How is Spellblade? How can you build it to be effective? it looks like the kind of class that is either fricking horrible or overpowered. Usually weird melee/caster hybrids don't work or are super overtuned and are really strong. Either way I think it looks cool.
Looks like a shitty mobile game
>you have to go back
>you have to go back
>one of the item is priced at 1488
kek
can I refund early access after 60 hours?
>play summoner
>get to Lagon
>none of my summons can attack him because he is on a shelf all the fight
>no way kill him
>uninstall
>diablos been dead for ages
>grim dawns trash
>PoE just did a private server tier league, everyones gonna hate next league unless it's throwing divs at you
>reddit game is new era
Yeah im thinking ARPGS are fricked till PoE2 hits the 5th or 6th season.
Woke crap.
>unity arpg
DOA
no character creation is some 90s dogshit. why are arpgs so behind the times (it's because it's a genre only enjoyed by 45 year old men)
