Not having co-op would be the dumbest decision they could make as it's the only thing that makes RE5 really fun. Without it, it's just an overall worse iteration of RE4 outside of the improved melee combos and shooting controls.
If there is a remake, I sincerely hope they move away from this shit awful "wait for crosshair to zero" aiming mechanic. It worked in RE2R because of the overall pacing and tone of that game, but felt bad in RE4R - made the TMP especially dogshit useless compared to its god-tier status in the original.

They patched GFWL out ages ago, and the game is notorious for having excellent PC controls which is extremely rare on a Japanese game.

Could just port the PS4/XBone remaster to PC?. That was made on a newer version of MT Framework and even included a new Mercenaries mode.
