    >black guy bartended in a china bar eloquently talking about philosophy and politics
What he says is true but it's pretty fricking stupid that a bar run by a triad in china would employ some random intellectual black dude to serve drinks. Specially since in deus ex, china is the only country supposedly not cucked by israeli neo-marxism. He even talks about this himself i think.
Deus ex is based where it counts but it has this common thing in media of blacks being whites with black skin, there's literally no difference in anything but skin color. And i'm pretty sure almost all the faction leaders are black intellectuals too.
Honestly, the game is low key subversive at times. They even try to make the (real life) elite look like the "reasonable good" faction in the end and let you join them. Worst fricking ending but it's weird the story even takes that direction. Might as well let you stay at unatco.

      >black guy in Chinese bar
My headcanon always was that the bar is clearly one for foreigners, so having a foreigner bartender makes sense.

      >the elite are the 'reasonable good' faction
Are you moronic, anon? The only way Stanton Dowd, Morgan Everett and the other idiots in their group remotely pass as 'good' is if you don't read any of the documents scattered around the game showing them being huge shitbags who are just the same as Page, but butthurt he put one over on them. Everett fricking blows your helicopter up if you don't find the bomb one of his goons hides in there

        >They even try to make the (real life) elite look like the "reasonable good" faction in the end and let you join them.

It makes sense to include that option. If you plucked an average man of the street and gave him the power to choose a radical new direction for humanity or maintain the status quo, I bet more than half of the people out there would go with the quo.

I'm just saying it's weird the story starts with you betraying unatco because of a common real life theory about the league of nations and NWO, and after the mid-game you're helping them and you can join them, the exact group paul convinced you to destroy. It happens really fast and out of nowhere too. I feel like the story takes a shit after hong kong to be honest.

UNATCO is just a 'useful idiot'-type organization. You can find documents or mails with Simons openly shitting on Manderley for being a stooge, or talking about how they're going to reshuffle UNATCO's leadership again.

You can also stay a UNATCO loyalist until the satellite broadcast part, and even then you can just surrender to Gunther if you make it out of Hell's Kitchen during the chase.

I think the second half of the game was chopped up and reorganized multiple times to meet budget/deadlines. It's why it can't really be remade in a satisfactory way, the devs were just winging most of it.

I don't think it's ever clarified, but considering the absolute lengths Everett goes to protect his place (like blindfolding JC on the trip over), the idea that some outside goon could just sneak in, with explosives, waste Everett's personal mechanic, and evade notice seems silly. That and Everett doesn't seem too shocked when you go back and tell him 'Hey dickhead, I wasted this spy in your base.'

            Anonymous

Seems unnecessary complex when he can just have the mechanic do it
And Page was a former Illuminati, he likely knows where Everett lives

It gives Everett plausible deniability, but I don't really disagree with you. I still killed Lucius DeBeers because I dislike Everett, though.

                >DeBeers
Weird that Everett says the tech to restore him has been around for "decades" (implying he's been popsicle for more time" but the prequels have him active 2 decades early.
Although it sorta makes more sense tbh. Everett doesn't seem old enough to have been leading the illuminati for the implied 30 years or more
It's also just fascinating how Deus Ex is so grey in morality, that the bad guys from the prequel are a joinable faction

                >Deus Ex has grey morality

That's because the binary concept of good or bad is 50IQ Star Wars fan level thinking, and if it's anything, it's grey. Morality is entirely subjective anyway.

He doesn't really lose much from losing his mentor. Everett's in charge and probably already learned everything that DeBeers could, and the world already believes that the powerful DeBeers is either dead or on life support for so long that he might as well be dead, he's useless as an influencer or a mediator.

If anything, Everett's just being sentimental, which is weird for an Illuminati head.

                Anonymous

Everett says he uses DeBeers as a 'one-man think tank' and gets pissed at you if you kill him. He's also clearly keeping DeBeers around as a resource to use, because he's lying to him about the restoration technology being available.

You mean the guy he immediately identifies as a spy who killed the actual mechanic? The guy he tells you in no uncertain terms to murder to prevent his location getting compromised? Why would he even try and blow you up if you're running around doing the very things he wants accomplished and gathering resources to help his key allies? When he spends the whole game trying to convince you to join his side?
        You're dumb.

If you had a spy you wanted to run some trick on a guy who's working for you, wouldn't you immediately say 'Oh.. you killed him? Thank god. He must've, uh.. snuck in'?

And the bomb wasn't to kill JC, since it was clearly detonated remotely after JC was dropped off and Jock was on his way out. Always read it as 'There's no turning back. Go do the thing, because you can't leave.'

I can't believe Page's VA will die and we'll never have a new Deus Ex
He was sooo good in the role

Maybe someone can just AI clone his voice. Would be totally fitting with the DE universe.

Why wouldn't he just get his actual mechanic to plant a bomb instead of hiring an assassin to kill his mechanic and then plant the bomb? That doesn't make any fricking sense.
            >And the bomb wasn't to kill JC, since it was clearly detonated remotely after JC was dropped off and Jock was on his way out. Always read it as 'There's no turning back. Go do the thing, because you can't leave.'
It is dumb that it only happens after you've already flied to the final area, but I assume that's because the dev team didn't have enough time to put a whole alternate route in or whatever blowing up jock early would entail.

              >why would Morgan kill his own mechanic

Plausible deniability, IMO. If you're going to try to whack JC Denton super spy that's been killing his way across the world, you damn sure don't want any clear path back to you if your guys frick it up.

I don't think it's ever really clarified anywhere in the game why that fake mechanic was there or what the bomb was about, but I'd love an anon to prove me wrong.

It's rare as frick, i'm talking averages here.
Also the leader of the french revolution group is a black ""french"", longing for what france used to be. It feels like a slap on the face. Blacks can't be french. Ethnic french people are nearly extinct but it's not like in the future all the blacks living there will be french, they would simply be the people that conquered France. Civic nationalism is a meme.
Why not? That doesn't add up? israeli subversion tends to do that when it comes to european countries, seeing them as merely economic zones. Now imagine, millions of indians replace all the native ethnic chinese people in China, those indians are now chinese living in china, nothing wrong here lol.

or, maybe just think about this for a second.
they could only make 1-2 models for the bartenders because they were spending more time working on designing levels, weapons and locations and character models sort of got the bad end of the stick. a lot of characters and NPCs use the same bunch of preset faces and skin textures, just mixed up a little, the only people who were allowed to have it different were the ones from Hong Kong and that could be because they spent the most effort and time crafting that location, considering how they reuse some of the assets to make a Chinese restaurant in France later on.
you can find the same hobos from New York speaking with a French accent in Paris.
