Personally I think it could be improved by moving to hovering eyes, and lowering the fidelity of the face.

This is true but when I say "graphics don't matter" I would at least like non-blurry, crisp visuals.
and, sadly, gameplay is pretty shitty in general, and has been since the beginning of gaming. so the truth is that what matters is novelty, which the value of oscillates over time.
Graphics, music and story exist to elevate gameplay and are not to neglected.

I play all multiplayer fps games at minimum graphics for max fps
I even take extra steps when possible like flat textures
TF2's a pretty terrible example for this since the game runs (and looks) great, and other than extremely low framerates like 20 and below, the game plays the same all the way until 1000+ when it starts playing.
But I will admit I have a soft spot for that PS1 styled Mercs mod.

exactly, movie-games like rdr2 are too overrated. There's nothing fun about holding down the analog stick down for 5 minutes in a scripted sequence, let the player only take control when there is room for variation.

Graphics matter to an extent.
Graphical "quality" and resolution don't, but readability directly affects a game, and art style can uplift (or degrade) an experience.

Stop coping moron. Graphics matter just not as much as gameplay. They can be overlooked in certain cases and gameplay shouldn't be sacrificed for graphics but graphics do enhance the experience and do matter.

The thing is that they can. We have seen post-00s game that have done that, but the rest don't think it's worth their time.
I had to sit in my car for 20 hours last week. I'm just gonna say... Bejeweled is a helluva game (hell of a game)
