      >marathon the first 20 minutes
is this some fresh new meme?
anyway make sure to play ghost, killing or knocking out enemies makes the game feel much less rewarding

CT, and splinter cell by extension, are very limited games when it comes to going beyond sheer stealth
the pure stealth part of them are great, but the AI / world responsiveness is shallow in a lot of manners, they basically cannot notice their friends missing and you can knock out huge portions, or even entire levels with no issues.
Anything involving actual combat is pure shit
If you commit to knocking out everyone and spending the bazillion shockers/airfoil rounds the game gives you, a lot of levels will get pretty braindead and dumbs down the level design a lot. But CT specifically also conflicts with this a little, because it has some cool interrogations that you can only do by knocking down enemies. So i'd say that its just best played by trying to stick with an intrinsic/imaginary incentive to ghost when you can, but knocking out enemies whenever it feels like it makes sense.

Its fun to larp as a spy that needs to be careful not to alert the area to the existence of an intruder, having to be really careful with the choice of moments to get his hands dirty. Even though in practice the game straight up doesnt do that at all and lets you basically dump bodies randomly in the open as long as its kinda dark as long as no guard has a patrol route directly on top of it ("kinda dark" meaning "enemies are completely blind to that location")

just don't touch them at all. find ways to navigate past. ofc there are a few places in the campaigns where this is impossible but very very fer

You're required to knock the guy out on the lighthouse at the end of the first mission
you can't exfiltrate until you do
          ghosting the game is impossible

fair enough, ghost what you can, though

UPDATE: i've watched the intro and gotten the mission briefing and the plot is already too convoluted for my adhd brain. china and north korea blockading japan for some reason is what i can make out.

gonna take a quick breather, see if i cant figure out how to force the game to be windowed, then back to marathon another 20.

avoid the stupid whistle mechanic. it's exploitable and can ruin the game.

    >makes whistling sound
    >idiot guard immediately walks into pitch black area to investigate
    >knock out
    >repeat

in fact the game is far too exploitable. in subsequent playthroughs you can have fun bypassing enemies without knock-outs, but first playthrough it's far too easy to just flick light switches and knock out guards who are too thick to wonder why the lights in the room were suddenly switched off and how that might be an intruder.

Just play it? It's "easier" than SAR and PT for the fact that it's no longer an automatic fail if you trip alarms.

        >But graphics also aren't as good.
Wrong lol. ps2/gamecube had the worst graphics out of all platforms, they weren't even slightly worse, those consoles just couldn't fricking run the game so everything was removed. also broken up levels making those versions even worse. everything else has miles better lightning system and the levels aren't butchered

graphics are actually pretty cool. the different modes of vision in particular.

ignore him, PC version is the absolute best without a single shadow of a doubt, and PS2 is the worst.

I would apply the widescreen fixes though

i grabbed the widescreen fix, and also a first person mode for when you have a weapon drawn. now im fiddling with the fov.
