I hadnt raided since ICC and only played a couple months each of mop, legion, and bfa, and only did pvp then. Got really into pve in Dragonflight and man I love m+ as a game mode
Idk what kind of player you are though so hard to say. Are you a collector gay, world content shitter, or sweaty? Personally I'm sweaty and really enjoy running high keys and mythic raiding and could give a frick about anything else
But the current state of wow really respects your time with the lack of forced shit like azerite grinds, rep, etc

So you wanna me apart of MLG/MDI? Then World of Warcraft (retail) is for you! All of our dungeons and raids are built around MLG/MDI! The players hate it so not many do them wanna do it but we didn't build it for them, we built them for MLG/MDI! If this doesn't fancy you we also have the arena which is built for MLG/MDI! Which all class balancing is balanced around! During Legion a silly intern ( now fired ) came up with the great idea to give Hunters the option to change there pets specialization so they could use any pet in any specialization! The players absolutely loved it! However this sadly interfered with MLG/MDI (frowny face) so it had to be removed. You see the Hunter pet would enter the arena in a specialization that the opposite team wouldn't know making it (random) and of course random things cannot occur in MLG/MDI. We know it was the most requested thing by hunters to have brought back in our last two expansion betas but MLG/MDI will always come first, please understand. Also to try and not have it the most requested thing by Hunters for our next expansion with the release of Dragonflight we straight up just removed the window for it, you know outta site outta mind!

The fricking main content is so dead in fact every weekly in World of Warcraft is now Timewalking Dungeons that rewards Heroic raid gear of the current tier.
