Good game with some mind boggling decisions made by the devs here and there.
Play vanilla first unless you already own SotFS, it has less cancerous enemy placement in some areas.
Sotfs fixed nothing about the original and made almost every area worse ( heide's and iron keep comes to mind )
Vanilla have different enemies and items placement.
Vanilla also have lighting closer to what it actually was supposed to be, such as actual sunset in Majula rather than just late day (for some reason SotFS got it's brightness and it's light sources cranked up to 11).
On the other side vanilla are still not the game it was supposed to be, so you can as well take SotFS as a different game (original alpha has been scrapped and redone, then downgraded heavily and still unfinished), put on reshade for fixing brightness somewhat (or don't put on reshade and convince yourself, that new lighting "intentionally" changes mood of the game) and play SotFS as some "intentionally" bizarre game, as actual "what Dark Souls 2 what supposed to be with timetravels and young dragon girl" doesn't exist and, most likely, would never exist anyway.

Schizo soulkino jankino
It's one of my favorite games
also get ready for peak frickery with elevators on the top of towers leading you to other dimensions
do yourself a favor and level up adp for better rolls and natural poise and faster item use.
also timing is more important than ever cause there are a lot of delays between your actions (much more than the other games) so if you swing at the wrong time, you will not be able to panic roll out of getting hit. this and falling into pits will be the predominate reasons you will die
have back up weapons, no matter what your build is, because until you get to the castle you won't get a good resource for repair powders, and the durability in this game is wack
also have a usable bow/crossbow even if you don't like using them to trigger traps and proc enemies. shulva is full of buttons you gotta press with arrows and the rest of the game is full of baddie ganks and traps you can avoid by spoiling them with arrows
also even if you don't like using them have and be able to equip at least one 100% phys block shield, there will be times you will get shot at and will not be able to reach your assailants (also good reason to carry a bow)
Honestly it was okay, there are some areas that are cool and generally speaking it gets better as time goes on (excluding one particular area) which is a nice welcome change from ds1 getting worse after anor londo. But to be honest the beginning of the game is kind of a slog, ds3 early game is peak
The DLC co-op zones suck ass because they are meant to be cleared in co-op, of course its going to be hell going on your own, with co-op they aren't even that bad
soul
shit
30 hours of mediocrity
play vanilla moron
Why?
Sotfs is made harder for returning players, hence gank fights up the ass.
Vanilla has a more natural difficulty progression.
basically this
Sotfs fixed nothing about the original and made almost every area worse ( heide's and iron keep comes to mind )
item placement and original nme placement has far more soul.
for instance the first heide knight you'll encounter.
it also looks better and less washed out than the sotfs version.

Probably the most consistent package out of the trilogy. The DLC has some bullshit spots, though.
I honestly can't tell which version is superior since they both seem to have spots that are better/worse than the other.
Better than troony Ring.

Skill issue
If it's your first Souls game you'll prolly like it
If it's not you'll hate it
Best Souls.
>What am I in for?
Once youre done playing that gem, you will make a thread on Ganker asking why the frick did everybody hate it
uninstalling it half way through when it never gets better.
>ayyy lmao DS2 is the easies Souls game
>play vanilla because SotFS is hard

Shrine of Amana and all three DLC co-op zones are pretty fricking horrible.
