Absolute KINO. Every quest, every character, every location. Everything unfolds so organically, the characters feel so real, they all have their own little flaws and character arcs. No walking statements, no shitty tumblr writing, no shoehorned dialog and interactions, just people who loved what they were doing telling a story. Boomers were right for once.

Yup, BG2 is an absolute masterpiece. ToB isn’t quite as good, but it’s still a wonderful ending to the story and a fun capstone to go all in on the height of your powers If you’re very careful and vengeful, you can cast Imprisonment on Saemon Harvarian when he’s about to try frame you in the desert town, and the game acknowledges this later when no-one can find him for the quest he’s supposed to take part in .
If you liked BG2, you should play Kingmaker and/or Wrath of the Righteous when you’re done with ToB, they’re really the only games even close to like it.

Anon please, the writing in Kingmaker is just bad. All the characters are are stereotypical caricatures of whatever archetype they are supposed to represent without any depth or interesting facets. Half the quest and dialog options don't make any sense in that game either.
That ruski crap comes nowhere near BG2.
Here it says killing trolls because you don't want them around is lawful evil, but just before this you meet gnolls and kobalts that are not hostile to you at all and the lawful good response is to kill them all.
MANY times in the game the lawful good response is to kill them all.
moronic zooms.
BG>BG2
special snowflake contrarian
Totally.
The second was pretty good, but it lacked the AD&D feel. It was pretty good ovberall though, but the clowns came out in full foce for that one. I still remember the influx of total shitspergs on TeamBG the moment the second one dropped.
It's all been downhill since. Like the 3rd... Oh Gawd. Like wtf? It's Divinity: Forgotten Realms edition. Note how another anon claims "it isnt out yet" because what there is of it is dire in the extreme.
And...
> 89 kangaroos for an unfinished beta.
The absoute state of things.
>I still remember the influx of total shitspergs on TeamBG the moment the second one dropped.
God frick off old man
You're not cool because you're old
Yeah well I do remember shitspergs like you.
That's reality, kid. And sadly, that reality is anything but cool.
>kid
Frick yourself.
Nah, I'm good. Your mom did that for me this morning.
That guy's mom pegged you? Weird flex but go off
>That guy's
uh huh
>Everything unfolds so organically
lol
>modern storyshit jrpg wannabe garbage
Go play real CRPGs like Wizardry and EOTB.
>Shitposting BG2 threads
Actually shameful
why is the enhanced edition bad? also is 3 any good?
EE is... OK. It makes some dubious changes and adds some mildy-annoying npcs (which are easily modded out). It adds some OK QoL and other features. I can't say it actually improves anything about the game. Some of the small changes really irritate me:
>items renamed e.g. Ring of Protection + 1 becomes "Ring of the Princes"... this was in the original item description but it looks very moronic in game because there are like 5 of these rings and they're meant to be generic... similar problem with various other items, overall it's a bad and completely unjustified change
>arbitrary balance changes - sunfire nerfed, offensive spin nerfed, resurrection heal nerfed... completely unnecessary changes in a game with 100 ways to make your character broken... just exposes how clueless the devs are about the game
>random-ass item additions that simply don't belong - they're worse than moronic extra item mods from the 2000s
>new kits and classes which are very meh... I don't think there's a mod which removes them which irritates me because their very presence is unaesthetic
>bugs bugs bugs - for instance the EE made flail of the ages +4/5 suck dick against poison-immune enemies (which are very common), and this bug persisted for literally years
>legacy of bhaal difficulty - a cool idea but it's terribly designed, another shitty addition that exposes the devs' incompetence
>I haven't played SoD or the black pits but they look really bad
Eh, Fallout was better.
>the amount of redditspacing itt
What am i in for?
Diablo like game with pause and a bit more story.
I never understood why people liked icewind dale, strictly inferior to all other games in the same vein
I always really liked that nordic atmosphere in 1. Kuldahar theme is kino
It's because it focuses on gameplay and has much less story so if that's all you want out of an AD&D CRPG you'll prefer Icewindale.
Pretty much all the locations have their own short substories and lore.
the best game made by black isle studio.
Same as Icewind Dale1. Lots of fun battles.
i wish more fantasy games explored nordic mythos, no Odin and Thor shit.
hack and slash with occasionally nice music
Do I need 1 to play BG2?
you can skip 2 just play 1 it's better.
yeah, 1 is a bit rough for a beginner while 2 can be just picked up no issues
you can skip 1 just play 2 it's better.
>Imoen, Jaheira, Minsc, Viconia and Edwin
Absolutely based, my current BG2 party (playing for first time) is exactly this except replace Minsc with Korgan because his dialogue is hilarious.
>Everything unfolds so organically, the characters feel so real
How so? The game offers no explanation whatsoever for why Irenicus can do the things he does. He just can. When you finally get to fight him he doesn't have any unique abilities. Even as a kid I found the story to be extremely forced and cartoony while Sarevok in BG1 was an actual leader of a huge organization backed up by his henchmen in the final battle.
Irenicus is an actual character while Sarevok is more like an invisible boogeyman pulling the strings behind the iron crisis and bandit attacks to incite war and have everyone murder each other so he can ascend to godhood through murder.
Sarevok barely even has any dialogue in his own game until right at the end.
Still love BG1 don't get me wrong, that low level D&D feel of exploring areas is very charming even if I prefer BG2 since you have more options in general.
It's a good up until you rescue imoen. You go to all that trouble then more or less have nothing to say to her
