They did that with the Shadow Ops mode that was time-limited for the MW3 reveal. It was kind of neat to see people wandering around a small area working together and then hightailing it to the helicopter to extract.
DMZ and Warzone both sucks hit, BTW. The only good part of "Call of Duty"/MW2's Battlelog app is the actual multiplayer mode with it's redone maps, which aren't enough in comparison to CoDMW2019.

How come everyone praised MW 2022 on release but now it's extremely hated? Were most of the positive reviews paid? Also I think the problem with Call of Duty is how extremely normie the playerbase is, they are unironically okay with all of the microtransaction shit, server getting shut down like 2 years later and yearly releases because they just say "uhh yeah dood that is capitalism man just get a job, my other hobbies are actually so much more expensive than Call of Duty!"
Post-release content is awful, Warzone 2 is significantly worse than Warzone 1, the original maps got stale super quickly for some reason, the movement feels low and clunky compared to MW2019, the South American theme is tiresome compared to Russia/UK which is the traditional theme of MW games

Battalion 1944 was literally just cod2 2 made by cod2 and 4 players and no one was playing it after a month.
Modern Warfare Remastered is available to play for free to everyone on PC through H1 client, and literally no one plays it.
And it'll stay that way because shooters like COD don't appeal to people who like videogames enough to delve into mods, custom clients etc.

Warzone was good for what it was, warzone 2 is just garbage.
CoD is a fantastic FPS series and no other game on the market can do what they do, it gets a constant flow of content, maps and weapons for free, along with a f2p BR mode that can be enjoyed by many.

COD is shit because of sbmm. But maps, gameplay, weapons feel, sound, etc. is by far better than any other games manage to deliver. That's the problem. The core is really good but they ruin it with skill based match making. I guess that's why always people fall for it over and over again. It's so addictive to play until it gets frustrating. You uninstall this trash but you constantly seek for this fun you could have.
