No it's not, the anime was about a mysterious robot girl with unknown origin teaming up with a beginner mech pilot with the ultimate objective of reaching a location they believed could aid humanity (turned out to be a space station). It was actually pretty decent and the world building was especially solid beyond what I would've thought it to be.
If the game is some fricking PvP loot grinder rather than something taking advantage of the world and setting in a decent campaign it's going to be DOA, how fricking tight is the niche of players who want to play Tarkov with mechs and anime girls, rather than just playing Tarkov? This might've been one of those AA SP games that's not amazing but it's decent enough if they had actually focused on making it like that, but making it a Tarkov clone has like 98% chance of this being a stillbirth.

And that's why it's so baffling that they didn't make CV2. They had a successful new IP on their hands with lots of easy improvements for a sequel and a (at the time) flourishing new fanbase. Instead they discard it to make something completely new that doesn't even look good or appealing on paper.

This is what Koei Tecmo did with Nioh. Of course the sequel never eclipsed From Software's titles but it carved a profitable niche on its own, which is more than you can tell about Scarlet Nexus.
And in KT's case the success of Nioh 2 allowed them to branch out and explore new possibilities, while sticking to their strengths. Even if Wo Long ended up absolute ass and RoR is a mixed bag. It's still a smarter progression than Bamco's "all or nothing" strategy when they keep getting "nothing".

Even on steam in the discussions most other players in the beta were confused by what the game wanted to be.
I did like the aesthetic and atmosphere but the actually gameplay loop and penalty for death were dumb.
Players even found a way to get into a softlock where you had no robot but were in negative money so you couldn't buy a new one which is funny and I'm not mad because it was test so clearly they can fix that.
I just don't really know what to like here but I'll admit I'm not a fan of PvPvE intrinsically but even fans of PvPvE would be at a loss here I'd imagine

They're definitely the most "fighting game-esque" arena fighters out there but the gameplay exists because it's the best for gundam, remove that and why would you want to play this type of game over either a shooter or a fighting game?

I think it may be because 6 is their first “mecha” game, for instance in another thread someone didn’t have any what a “missile boat” meant and assumed that they were talking about a build that used Chartreuse’s legs since those are vaguely boat/ship shaped. I got used to everyone screaming and crying that 4a wasn't armored core already so it wasn't much to ignore.
Right… even though 4 and 4A was basically the movement of old gen but with the values cranked up and the ability to shoot both shoulder weapons by swapping to them. For all of the fancy QBs and super speed, if you stop and rotate in place you’ll see it’s the same movement as in old gen. It was iterative, not completely different (UNLIKE 5th gen, the only gem prior that actually started with a completely new foundation rather than building on AC1’s)
It had a totally new softlock system and faster turns than earlier games and loads of people took a big cry over it. It was also great fun. Genre purity isn't important if the game is really fun to play, especially if the series has already had like two dozen games.

Its not that much faster especially in neutral; 4th gen’s turning speed is deceptive since, with every gameplay video on YouTube as evidence, everyone quick turns and quick boosts constantly to augment their turning ability (even if done unintentionally)
It was a big departure from the previous games in game speed, but the “bones” of the previous games that it built off of are readily apparent. It basically was “what if we took gen 3 movement, but made ground boosting cost almost nothing, cranked up the boost speed and then gave the player every booster extension (quick boost, quick turn) by default?”

Hover legs are so fast that you can literally use the normal mode for strafing, no need for boosting.
You're just using what's already in the game, the strafe buttons. For some reason, if you use the Type B controls (which is just pre-Nexus), you can instantly change all of your momentum to the other side with no braking whatsoever. That missile test can be cheesed with any leg, even the starter legs, with just that.

it's not a joke it's objectively correct. look at sea spider's resistances before they were patched. look at dragonslayer armor in ds3 and how insanely slash resistant it is. information being vague aside it's also typically arbitrary and no two enemies that look similar will have the same resistance so you can't go off of sight and deduction alone.

Armored Core 6 was pretty good and sold well but that's because From Software is way too competent at this point to release something mid. It's not a revolutionary game in any way, it's just a classic armored core made in the current year and that's a formula that's not hard to frick up, unless you're a console only japanese developer who can't make shooters (as in, 99% of mecha game devs). I don't think it will revive the mecha genre because we'll keep getting mecha games made in baffling genres with baffling design decisions that bring down the whole thing (including Synduality, Outpost Infinity Siege (which isn't even a mecha game) and Mecha Break). And western devs are dead, the only ones still making mecha games is the mechwarrior devs and mechwarrior will never win.

Yeah the monetization was absolute dogshit and definitely contributed, but there was also a lot of other issues like matchmaking, netcode, unit choice, and, most importantly, the game was not available in like 80% of the fricking planet with some insane region lock (even though the people in those regions could just use a VPN and get the game on steam and play normally without any issues).
Still, it was an okayish shooter where you could play as the cool mobile suits and use cool guns and the Turn A can do a Judo throw. It also played like a normal fricking videogame. That's all pretty simple and lacks a lot of stuff like immersion but it's SOMETHING and definitely better than GBO2 which feels like absolute shit

They have no excuse except that they're some random third party japanese console only dev making a cash grab gacha and thus don't actually need to try. When I got my hands on the PC client and found out the camera sensitivity is still locked to MS turn speed even on M+Kb I knew it was over (The option on the settings menu to let you free-cam barely fricking does anything since it's still locked to the main shooting reticle). You shouldn't have to make a mech game play like fricking shit to pretend its realistic because you're just making the mechs look like fricking garbage.

Honestly? Mechs fighting monsters is actually the simplest and most reasonable use case that no one would deny mechs can be genuinely effective at. It always feels like mechs in common human military situations are one competent homing missile strike away from losing their balance and falling flat (especially in IPs where they're too slow), or getting pierced in the wienerpit by an AP missile. But against monsters they actually have the acrobatics, agility and melee specialty to make it look really cool

The Muv Luv universe is really funny because the Mechs literally control like videogames. The protagonist convinces the genius doctor woman to update the OS to make the controls based on Virtual On because that's the game he played on an alternate reality, and so he told her to just make the controls really simple and sensitive, let the AI take care of motions and let the pilots cancel animations and direct the intention with basic joystick movement. Videogames don't exist because everyone is at war and all the men got sent first and died so no one knows what games are except the protagonist and he ends up improving mech combat performance because now everyone is just playing Armored Core/Virtual On against the monsters and people get way better at it than using the default OS filled with annoying animations and sluggish controls

The Synduality beta ran like shit on my ancient 1060 3GB; meanwhile AC6 ran very well on it. You can argue that Synduality is open world, but Elden Ring ran fine on the same ancient card.

I like the idea of an extraction mecha game with pvevp. The problem is that 90% of extraction shooters don't get "it". The it being the economy.
For a good mecha extraction game, you need:
>A combat system between front mission evolved and older armored core titles.
>Parts on the same "tier" with them being more or less specialized as opposed to vertical progression
>Part durability affected primarily by combat damage.
>shop that ONLY resells parts players have obtained from deployments and sold off to NPCs.
If you have a shop that only sells new shit, then there is no economy for the players to create. If there is no economy, then why would you make it an extraction shooter instead of a regular ass pvp or co-op shooter?

Another thing is that any new mecha IP needs to be built as a game first. Otherwise, you basically have no space for all the bullshit that will happen in the plot. Good luck designing a balanced game when half the pilots have mind control and telekinesis powers and the other half can become ghosts and the third half is just regular humans. And then the protagonist robot is stronger than blue haired goku, but the average mech is weaker than a saibaman
