You didn't played the game and you're actually here just to shitpost:
>"It's just Gmod"
>"It's a DLC"
>"It's okay when Nintendo does it"
Overall, it's a solid 8.5 for me. A landmark title, to be sure, but with noticeable flaws that shouldn't be overlooked, specially by all those supposed "gaming journalists".

[OFFICIAL NINTENDO GRADING GUIDE]
STEP 1: Aquire the "official" score for the Nintendo game and subtract the following for all that apply:
>Nintendo exclusive: subtract 2 points
>Nintendo mainline series (mario, zelda, pokemon): subtract additional 2 points
>jrpg: subtract 1 point
>game relies heavily on waifus: subtract 2 points
Examples:
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the kingdom
>official score: 9.5/10
>subtract 2 points for being nintendo exclusive
>subtract 2 points for being mainline Nintendo game
TRUE SCORE: 5.5/10
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
>official score: 8.3/10
>subtract 2 points for being nintendo exclusive
>subtract 1 point for being jrpg
>subtract 2 points for relying heavily on waifus
TRUE SCORE: 3.3/10
2 points for being nintendo exclusive
2 points for being mainline Nintendo game
According to this it's impossible for a Zelda game to be more than a 6/10.
Now you're getting it
Yeah man, those grapes are probably sour as shit anyway
whats your rating for god of snoy?
This is a start, but here's how I'd do it.
>Nintendo exclusive: no point deduction unless the FPS or performance suffers. No modern game should have load screens or be under 30 FPS. one point deduction otherwise
>Nintendo mainline series: no point deduction unless it tries too hard to deviate from the formula, without offering something in return (IE Zelda steering away from OOT rehashes, but without offering a significant challenge to compensate. without challenge it's still an OOT rehash in spirit). one point deduction otherwise.
>game relies on waifus: subtract two points. Can't argue with this one.
>JRPG: subtract 10 points. Movie games belong in the trash, unless it's non-anime or doesn't obsessively focus on waifu pandering, aka a Mario RPG (no matter how much people obsess over Vivian or lady boos or goombella, the game doesn't autistically dedicate a 50 hour cutscene to putting them in lingerie)
Tears of the kingdom Score is 9.5.
Subtract a point for lack of challenge (no, being harder than OOT does not count. That means nothing in a post-Souls era)
Subtract a point for terrible performance (Dread and Mario Odyssey run fine, so they don't even have an excuse)
Subtract two points for disgusting waifu pandering.
Overall score: 6/10.
Xenoblade Chronicles 1/2/3/x
Subtract 10 points for being cinematic movieshit.
Overall score: 0/10
This is alot better than my rating scale for snoy games, which go into the negatives.
ACchad showing us how its done again! YAS!
>Xenoblade Chronicles 2
score: 8.3/10
2 points for being nintendo exclusive
1 point for being jrpg
2 points for relying heavily on waifus
>TRUE SCORE: 3.3/10
Holy based
Holy shit what a disaster series.
3.3/10 is too generous for what is Ganker's most hated game of the 2010s.
id entertain your ire if you didnt say pressing L and then Y was too much of a hassle, it sounds like youve got attention problems
>game literally invents open world, physics, and the cure for cancer
>"8.5"
contrarian much?
Tears of Da Snoys
I have over 45 hours since launch and don't even have a Playstation console in my home, you fucking retards
I played 100 hours. My last Nintendo console was a Wii.
You're in a cult.
And you're in an echo chamber but no-one fucking cares either way.
Gooble Gabble one of us!
What does it matter if it's bad in any way? It's got the reviews, it's got the sales. It doesn't matter what flaws it has.
>Worse
>Could be
>Should be
0 arguments, lmao
Menus need overflow inputs. Like pressing up at the top of materials brings you to the bottom of the page. Or pressing right on the save menu takes you to the armor.
Yeah, or actually dividing more the items to craft. I just don't understand how the food, monster parts and all other things are in the same tab, why couldn't they have done a sub tab or something like that?
Due to fusing and more materials existing (including the Zonai, yes) you need to use the menus a lot more. Also the powers, specially on the sky islands or the underground are used way more often that the powers from BotW in the overworld, so it all adds up to make a cluttered experience where you have to scroll through a lot of menus to just do some basic shit.
>even worse than in the previous game
It's the exact same UI but with an extra tab for the Zonai devices, you mean the main menu?
I wish there were more sky islands. 10/10
>It's just Gmod
I haven't played the game but I've seen this criticism, what do they mean by this?
The game hinges on your ability to make contraptions that mirror those popular for years in gmod.
>The game has a schizophrenic relationship with BotW, not acknowledging almost anything you did in that game with a couple of exceptions. No mention of the previous towers or shrines, not even the guardians.
I strongly agree about this. And why weren't the Zonai mentioned in botw? Talk about a retcon
>why weren't the zonai mentioned in botw
retard
The shekai are the zonai
It's a different timeline
>Fusing is too much of a hassle and counterintuitive
Filtered
Good fucking riddance
I actually liked the menus a lot more this time around. The new shortcuts were great to have, and I believe there may be contextual triggers in the game that bring up specific sections of your inventory based on what you're doing when you pull it up; there were a lot of times where I just pressed the plus button and found myself right where I wanted to be.
I hope the inevitable DLC adds more Zonai devices to play around with, or at least some more challenging shrines. I haven't found any of them to be particularly difficult in my playthrough thus far
Its literally Elden Ring for children and I dont have a problem with that
Changing weapons takes way too long compared to BotW.
And Weapons should've had a wheel just like the powers.
That's it, that's my biggest complaint about the game. Other than that I'm loving it.
>Weapons should've had a wheel just like the powers
That'd be 20 items in a wheel, retardo.
Still better to cram them all in one wheel than to change slowly from left to right. That or allow the player to change between 2 wheels with 10 items each.
Just make it an optional choice, and nobody would complain.
ToTK feels like it wanted to be a PC game, rather than a Switch game.
Hell just letting you set a queue up to automatically switch to a new weapon/shield when one breaks would save a lot of menuing.
You know you can have a system where you just hotkey 8 weapons in a wheel from the menu retardo.
Play more games. Prey's weapon spiral would be perfect for that shit.
Why are the Vehicle Weapons auto-fire? I wanna aim and pull the trigger on my Cannons, thank you very much.
My biggest gripe is the items menu. There's just way too much shit in it to sort through from left to right.
The option to put the best weapon fusion items at the top, or all the zonai weapons at the top or most used are great but god damn is it cancer if you want to attach an item to an arrow that you haven't used often like lightning chuchu jelly or keese wing or whatever
The fusing in general becomes more of a pain the longer the game goes on imo
Getting better weapons is now a matter of getting a good base, then looking through the inventory for your most powerful shit to combine it with
There’s way too much menuing in general. This is debatable a problem within the last one, but it’s worse now
I never had that problem. I always saved my good weapons for the bosses and for everything else just fused whatever was on hand
Press y to sort by attack power.
This shit is exactly like the XIV thread that fag used to post all the time
Why are snoys so mind broken and ass blasted mad about this game? It doesn’t affect them at all, it was never going to be on PissStation. Is it projecting? Being mad about not having a good game since Bloodborne?
Probably Horizon 'fans' still malding. Didn't it get a DLC just recently that nobody gave a fuck about?
All of this stuff you find bad with it u still give an 8.5?
drones can't deviate too far from their programming
there are all types of flaws, from nitpicky to gamebreaking. The UI for example isnt a big deal. Planes having a fixed time limit feels quite shitty though
>It's a DLC
I don't think this is entirely invalid, but it's typically used in a way thats a bit handwavy. If you were to plot an axis where one end is "enhanced versions" like KH final mixes, pokemon USUM, and the re-releases purseowner/SMT games get and the other end would be completely new games totk would be pretty close to the middle, when it really should be closer to the "completely new game" end.
It's also pretty egregious how they padded out the loot of this game with fucking amiibo and dlc items from the last game.
The only retards calling it a DLC are seething snoys, paid shills, anti/Nintendo shitposters, and literal retards that get all their opinions from Ganker.
It’s not even close to a DLC lmao
>t. actually played the game
Completely agree with both points, I didn't realize about the Amiibo shit because just now I discovered how to find some of that shit, but it's pretty egregious.
>The game has a schizophrenic relationship with BotW, not acknowledging almost anything you did in that game with a couple of exceptions. No mention of the previous towers or shrines, not even the guardians.
I found this weird. It'll briefly mention things like Revali or maybe Sidon's sister, but otherwise 1) doesn't reference the guardians and the only guardian in the game is in purah's old tower 2) Beasts are nowhere to be seen and only reference is the "perch" of rito village. Upheaval is everything people talk about, no reference to anything else. I get there's a timeskip but you would think people would talk about a legendary princess who just happened to be in the castle for 100 years is still kicking.
There's a lot of retcon and I don't frankly like it that much. The core gameplay is fun (ascend, building, etc) and I find it better than botw but it's not a 10/10. I'd agree with you OP, solid 8.5. Way above average in terms of open world RPG games though.
It definitely feels like a different game, namely because of new mechanics, but I wouldn't call it a DLC.
>Amiibo
but they cut out wolf link
Love the game but
>Enemy variety is still shit.
OP covered this, but when you hear about the pirates in Lurelin, it's just fucking -blins again. Would it kill them to have some humanoid enemies besides the Yiga? Also apart from some weak frogs, all the enemies in the depths are the same.
>Can't just start exploring when landing on the surface
In BOTW, you could go in any direction after getting off the Great Plateau. Eventually you need to head to Kakariko and talk to Impa to progress the story, but you basically can't even explore before you get the paraglider from Lookout Landing in TOTK.
>Vehicles disappear when entering shrines
I get that they're supposed to be temporary, but that's just too much.
>The sky islands are mostly filler
>The game has a schizophrenic relationship with BotW, not acknowledging almost anything you did in that game with a couple of exceptions. No mention of the previous towers or shrines, not even the guardians.
Holehardedly agree. Every time I get to a Ubisoft tower I think to myself "oh boy another fucking cluster of gay floating islands I've done 5 times already".
A personal peeve of mine is that how fucking stupid the game looks with the sky islands, glyphs and zonai shit all over the world. Reminds me of Sonic Frontiers and Death Stranding.
It's $70 DLC. This didn't happen two decades ago. I blame zoomers.
Stfu and kys you underaged gay
>incoherent babbling
predictable for a zoomer.
>an underaged calling someone a zoomer
Lmao
Ok, Champ, go ahead and tell us how you’re really 35 or some ridiculous lie. I peg your actual age to be around 16.
I agree with all of these, and I'll add these as well:
>Once again, just like in BoTW, the actual interesting story that I wish I could have played through happens in the past and we only get to witness it through memories.
>Not being able to fuse weapons from the menu really fucking sucks. Having to grab an item from the menu, drop it to the ground, select the fuse option from the wheel, and then pressing Y or ZL gets really fucking old real fast.
>The dungeons are absolute ass. Sorry, they just are. They somehow managed to make them even less interesting than the Divine Beasts from BoTW.
>I also hate that for each dungeon is in a unique biome (cold, warm, etc.) requiring a unique set of armor for each. I just want to fucking wear my Hero of Time Tunic everywhere okay? Fuck you. Yes, I know you can just cook food to make you resistent against cold, heat, etc. But as you pointed out, cooking is annoying, and having to eat something every ~10 minutes is too.
Here's some things I so far really enjoyed, though:
>The world feels richer and more lived in than BoTW.
>More side quests, more FUN side quests.
>I expected to hate the Chasm (underground) but it's actually remarkably addicting to explore.
>Zelda turning herself into a dragon to bring the healed and improved Master Sword to Link[/spoiled] is a cool and tragic plot. Definitely a tearjerker, did not expect that.
I like the new implementation of Koroks, I love how the map feels entirely different, I've been all over the west and it was amazing how they manage it to make it look like another place.
Cooking is terrible and needlessly sluggish, why is there no option to hold, on the quick menu? Durability is still a problem, they just moved it one tier up, now it messes with the building mechanics, I just don't understand Nintendo's obsession with limiting the players and not giving options, I seriously hope they add a creative mode.
>The sky islands are mostly filler
This but underground. You KNOW you're not going to find any cool shit besides
>enemy camp with zonaites
>mining area with zonaites
>miniboss
So you end up just flying from one lightbulb to the next without purpose.
>he didn't find all the cool shit underground
Man I feel bad for you
the game feels shallow
like all that empty space and almost nothing to do in it
The fact that they reused a bunch of music without changing it is disappointing. Within minutes of starting up the game you're hearing jingles you heard from a six year old game.
True, it didn't bother me a lot but now that you mentioned, it really sucks. Specially for music you hear a lot like when you ride a horse or for combat. I got a dumb grin when I found out they got the Parasail minigame song again, it was my favourite BotW tune.
all the little things go a long way, the game has a ton of new music but I can't believe they didn't bother to change a lot of the overworld music. It's sad that I have to feel relief that they made a new main battle theme. they didn't bother changing the overworld boss themes either, not even a remix.
also the SFX which are a big part of a game's soul
Does it make it better that the literal very first instant you spend in the overworld, the frame rate drops to 4fps because the lazy fucks didn't do any optimization in the six years they spent adding almost nothing to BotW?
shit post like OP called
oh no it dipped for a second when running on a switch, how will Nintendo ever recover!!!
then you'll go on about how this and that and this like it means anything
It dips constantly, you retard. Just like it did before. The fact they couldn't even bother to make the first impression go well shows just how little they cared about the entire game.
Gliding is also slow as shit. I get you don’t technically have any thrust, but holy shit is it slow.
>Plot is told poorly.
Really game, i didn't need to see the exact same cutscenes about the war with ganondorf 4 times.
>Combat is mostly the same Flurry spam
Still boggles my mind that they never added even the iconic finishing blow (no, dropping from the sky doesn't count).
>Using abilities
I like them, i really do, but having to talk to your helper is just not good design.
Could probably go on and on, but don't feel like it.
Overall, had a fun time with it, not enough for me to want to 100% it but the main quests are decently fun.
>Really game, i didn't need to see the exact same cutscenes about the war with ganondorf 4 times.
this
Why are Nintendo slop the only games tendies want you to "prove" you've played it?
>ui bad
you not being able to adapt is on you. same level of cringe you see people in fallout using smartphones
>controls are not tight
muscle memory issue, you need to adapt
>sky islands are filler
So are dungeons in past zelda games, they should just be a single room with the special item to get around the map more and a boss. you know this to be true dont fight it
>tutorial
thats every game
>schizo thing
what? did you bitch this much with ALBW?
>graphix
the guy who made undertale made more money than your entire bloodline combined
>game mechanic is a hassle
did you bitch this much in ALTTP with 60% of the game locked behind the hammer?
>waste time by animation
thats all games
im sorry you are legit bad
>The hell does this even mean? You can't even go into detail on this without showing you never touched it.
Lock on doesn't work a fifth of the time, specially egregious in fights against the Talus, for example. You can't shieldsurf while locking on, flurry rush is too easy to do, throwing items is cumbersome, etc.
Other games waste your time with animations too, sure, but not with every fucking Kolog, entering a shrine, cooking, Ubisoft tower, etc.
>It's been 4-6 years in game. at the end of the BotW most of the ancient shit was destroyed
Destroyed guardians remained on dozens of places. Shrines and towers weren't destroyed. Why do you spout fake bullshit?
>spoken like someone who hasn't played and/or has zero creativity
Yeah, sure, because having to drop to the ground everything you want to fuse is intuitive. Get Nintendo's dick out of your mouth, I love the game, but I can recognise the flaws it has.
> but I can recognise the flaws it has.
this does not absolve you from being bad or making mountains out of molehills
but you can absolve the game because you throat any piece of shit nintendo dumps out, right?
thats right repeat the last thing i said because you cant form your own arguments like your opinions
i'm not even op, i'm testing you for consistency, of which you have none.
enjoy your shit game, kiddo.
>im not op but i talk like op
seriously why do you goto bodily functions whenever someone has a different, but right, opinion?
you didnt even argue it, just strait to thinking about dookies
props to not talking about dicks when someone disagrees with you, sign of improvement as a human. dont relapse when reading this
Elden rings controls are perfect. Zelda forks combat is clunky dog shit. This is a child’s toy
It should adapt to us who enjoy better games with better combat
Elden Ring doesnt have as much interactive mechanics though. It's like complaining that MMORPGs have too many buttons
>The UI is atrocious, even worse than in the previous game
A UI that is just the Heart bar on screen when you aren't running, gliding or operating a Zonai machine. It's not remotely atrocious. If anything it's bland since everything is minimalist nowadays. Devoid of any style.
>The controls aren't as tight as they should be
The hell does this even mean? You can't even go into detail on this without showing you never touched it.
>The sky islands are mostly filler
Everything besides the main 5 sage temples are filler. Simply pointing out the islands doesn't give your claim any weight.
>The begging of the game is a slog, specially compared to the one in BotW
again with the Vague bullshit.
>The game has a schizophrenic relationship with BotW, not acknowledging almost anything you did in that game with a couple of exceptions. No mention of the previous towers or shrines, not even the guardians
It's been 4-6 years in game. at the end of the BotW most of the ancient shit was destroyed. You still see Ancient stuff, get references to what you did from the sages and important people. Even get Ancient arrow tips.
>The hand to hand combat is still too simple, the enemies are easy to ragdoll
Which is entirely intentional since they gave you several weapon attachments built entirely just to blow or bounce an enemy away.
>The Switch holds back the graphics and framerate and there's too much bloom and distance fog
If Game Freak made this the game wouldn't even exceed 7 frames let alone have a tenth of the content. It's one of the best running and looking games on the cosole.
>Fusing is too much of a hassle and counterintuitive
spoken like someone who hasn't played and/or has zero creativity.
>Wastes your time by virtue of having to watch some animations and interactions dozens of times.
Like every game ever with canned animations? All of your gripes are superficial and vague as all fuck
Pt1.
>Still too few hostile mobs
They added several new ones as well as gave them access to armor and fused weapons.
>Low durability is back (not a problem for me)
And Several ways to deal with that as well as a way to make them stronger and be useful outside of just combat.
>Cooking is a slog
they added a Recipe button so you don't have to repeatidly grab the same ingredients for stuff you already made. It's considerably easier.
>Kologs are back
Funny enough the addition of the backpack ones lead to some good memes and easy to acquire 2 Seeds. Making the effort to get a well set of weapon and shield slots so much eaiser.
>The story is told mostly in cutscenes again
so every game ever? I assume you mean told through Cutscenes that you have to find and not just ones that play out when you complete main objectives.
>Retcons a lot of shit from BotW
No retcons ever happened. there is even a ancient warrior set that turns you into the red haired warrior who fought Calamity ganon in the Mural.
>all your shitpost examples.
Your entire list of minor nitpicks and other dogshit were at best Shit you gleamed off webms people showed you and and vague made up bullshit you imagined.
You're a fucking gay who should grow up and learn that all videogames have some kind of flaw, and you can love a videogame while still critizing it for what you find it does wrong.
nice stolen screencap
>2024
future anons FUCK OFF
you haven't seen how absurdly slow the heart/stamina trading statue is
name 5 things you would do instead
Yeah I didn't. Because I never used it. I had Rare Talus marked all over the map. So if I needed money I had gems to get and sell. Instead of gimping my stats for temp monetary gain.
It's not supposed to be a source of money. You use it to trade hearts for stamina or vice versa.
>at the end of the BotW most of the ancient shit was destroyed
Where is this mentioned? Certainly not in BotW.
>A UI that is just the Heart bar on screen when you aren't running, gliding or operating a Zonai machine.
No it's not. UI = User Interface, it includes the convoluted menus
X being jump, b being dash is beyond ducking retarded. Combat is simplistic trash and flurry spam. They should take note from Elden ring and Nioh, this is just pathetically sad. Even the last two mainline Zelda games one of them from 2006 had better and deeper combat mechanics lmao
This is gonna sound autistic as hell, but if you swap the jump and run buttons, it also swaps the contextual interactions. I'm used to pressing B to cancel but now it's X unless you're in a menu.
The horrible armor system means almost every attack depletes 1/4 of a heart or most of your entire health bar, with very little in-between. It was this way in BOTW too but it really needed fixing.
Turning on the autobuilder makes you unable to pull zonai parts from your inventory for some bizarre reason.
Guardians were an extremely memorable enemy and they're replaced with soldier constructs which are mostly an alternate kind of bokoblin.
Ascend wastes your time for no reason.
Cooking wastes your time for no reason.
Unfusing wastes your time for no reason.
Koroks waste your time for no reason.
Spirit orbs waste your time for no reason.
Selling hearts wastes your time for no reason.
There's probably more I forgot right now.
Flying parts can't have their duration extended in any way. Not with upgrades, not with consumables, not even by touching the ground.
Fusing most zonai devices is discouraged by a harsh durability loss just for using the item.
Shrine chest loot is even more worthless than BOTW's.
>The horrible armor system means almost every attack depletes 1/4 of a heart or most of your entire health bar, with very little in-between. It was this way in BOTW too but it really needed fixing.
I've been complaining about this for the last 6 years. What sucks is it even makes self-imposed challenges very complicated unless you want to die in 1-2 hits.
I noticed Nintendo does this with almost all their games, wasting your time with the same dialogue over and over. It baffles me how little they value your time. You want to sell one item, you have to go through multiple lines of dialogue. Want to take one of your horses out? You have to press through multiple lines of dialogue.
Unironically the worst controls I’ve ever encountered.
The only game I’ve ever played where 50 hours in I’m still accidentally pressing the wrong buttons regularly.
Agree. The controls are inexcusably bad
>>The game has a schizophrenic relationship with BotW, not acknowledging almost anything you did in that game with a couple of exceptions. No mention of the previous towers or shrines, not even the guardians.
this is the big one
I get that it would be a ballache to code, but it could at least read my most recent save file and flag if I, for example, built tarry town. The only people who seem to recognize me are some zora and the four champions/their families
add bad quest design (the fairy one is insulting), bad rewards for cool moments/quests (eventide, for instance), and wastes your time by making you grind for materials (to upgrade either armors or the batteries)
Requesting porn of Link getting sucked into a zonai dispenser and getting turned into a zonai glider and walked on by barefoot Zelda.
Anyone has the video of the tendie seething that people leaked the game?
he fucking removed it from his channel.
Surprised the sages havent been mentioned yet. Their abilities are mostly awful and unintuitive to use, Sidons especially is horrendous.
The sages themselves constantly get in the way and interrupt interactions and the camera. And finally the same cutscene played 4 times over each end of the dungeons is really fucking bad.
Its a great game and Im having a lot of fun, but its not a 10 by any stretch. There are a lot of issues.
you never have any reason to not use tulin
>never in the way
>small
>headshots stuff
>even bosses
>cute
>best power
Just finished the storymode.
Don't know why Ganker thought the final boss was nothing, it was more than what the webm shown that was posted here during the leaks. The buildup suspense making your way to him was intense.
Sad that it's over now.
It's almost like shitposters like to cherrypick
Yeah right?
I know I'm not the best with dodging and doing flurry rushes but I still went though a lot of shields fighting him
Even broke my Hylian Shield fighting him
I can't separate what the game actually is vs what my expectations were while waiting 6 years for it.
The plot is the biggest disappointment in general. The first trailer showed Link AND Zelda doing stuff which made people excited because they would finally get to see some interaction and events would presumably be new because it's a sequel. Yet here we are and they did memory shit AGAIN, Zelda is non-existent AGAIN, the villain just sits in his hole waiting for Link to come AGAIN, etc. Even worse is the laughable "was that Zelda?!" repetition and barely anyone remembering Link or anything else that happened.
Zelda has never been really story heavy but TotK is by far the worst story of any Zelda.
Did everyone just fucking forget that Link saved the world? Why does he barely get any recognition?
because nintendo spent 15 years developing this game anon just put your wheels on the board and have fun
Nintendo refuses to let Link talk except when he's explaining that Zelda disappeared or to explain that he already did a quest ahead of time. Any other time in the story, he just stares and lets people walk over him. I would honestly prefer if they just get a voice actor and let the man talk already. This is getting ridiculous.
I got to Zora's Domain last night and it seems like there's actually a script for if you talk to Sidon first. I actually speedran the memories because I saw spoilers, and as far as I can tell Link has brain damage because he does not tell anybody anything.
They already butchered the Zelda formula, they might as well let Link talk at this point. I wouldn't care about that tradition anymore. I honestly see it happening in the foreseeable future.
I really, really fucking hate that gay ass pose all the NPCs do where they clench both their fists while they talk to you about something excitedly, it's the gayest anime shit ever. I especially hate it when it's accompanied by some stupid gayy sounding grunt.
Zelda NPCs have always been on the ugly side, but they had charm and felt unique. Now they're almost all gay anime NPCs. Only the Gerudo don't make me cringe.
all the npcs make jap noises since botw, it's only worth it for hearing the rito women moan at you
There's even a male npc that has female voice for some reason. He's infront of the snow labyrinth on the surface. It's weird as shit and completely out of place.
With all the pirate stuff on the beaches i couldn't help to think that Nintendo wanted to implement actual pirate type enemies. But they probably decided against it due them being too rare to justify programming in more horn to fuse your weapon too
Anime story cutscenes are gay, no horse teleportation, ultrahand is gay aids, tons of filler
8/10, it's ok
i dont have stable 60 fps in spots like landing. 1/10 trash game tendies are delusional.
I'm still very early but the amount of menu usage is atrocious, and not being able to flip from one end of a list to the other end is jarring. Dragon's Dogma got rightfully criticized back in 2012 for making you pause and scroll through menus to use your consumables in frozen time, I don't get why this game gets away with the same shit. I can't imagine how many people have tossed and potentially destroyed their weapons when trying to throw a lightseed or something.
Ascend is really slow and I hate having to use it. It doesn't feel like a universally applicable kind of ability like the rest and there's a lot of "use Ascend here" spots that feel like they're only there to justify its inclusion. I wish I had the bombs back instead.
Fusing is interesting but it's more slow menu interactions and my autism gets tweaked when I see my perfectly nice looking equipment covered with rocks and other crap. I guess it's to reinforce the disposability of your inventory, by making it look like trash too.
Just beat them game
Nintendo really just sold me the same game
>Same 4 dungeons BS, why can't we have 7 or more
>Same DLC dungeon set up to get a bike/mech
>Same Hyrule Castle, but shitter and shorter
>Wtf was that final area, short as hell
>Anything sky related is mostly copy pasted, no towns
>4 new overworld bosses when we shoudl have gotten one for each region or 10
>Copy pasted enemies with nothing new about them other than a retarded horn attack
>No new lynel tier enemies
>Gibdos are so fucking slow and non threatening
>Depths is just shitty MMO filler with minecraft mechanics
>No new moves for link other than earthwake, could've added more moves to the flurry rush prompt
>Story is not as tight knit as BOTWs was
>Overworld has not changed drastically, they could have had the world change more by shit coming out of the ground as per usual, but no, here is the same geometry you walked on in BOTW remixed with new enemy camps that have the same exact fucking enemies you killed for hours in botw.
>They added 4 new enemies, Boss bokos, Horrorblins, constructs and cone head constructs, you barely see the latter two however.
>any other enemy added is fodder shit comparable to the most shit enemy from the earlier 3d games.
>no boss versions for lizalfos or moblins, couldn't even port the boss chu chu from AOC
>Ganon has no influence over the world, just some dude in a cave, no castle or anything. The hands help this, but are still pretty weak
I'm glad anons are enjoyin this shit, but this feels like how I feel about TP being a retread of OOT when this game is an actual retread of BOTW. I suppose I just have high expectations from Zelda team and I feel they couldn't even be bothered trying something new this time. My main issue is that I wish this was the game I was given instead of BOTW, it feels like a complete retread
I haven’t played the sequel but this is exactly what I feared.
Looks a lot like BOTW with a lot of improvements and a new gimmicky style of meme gameplay
I just want an actual Zelda game
I still like the game yet I agree with everything you said. I can't believe I waited 6 years for this. I pray the next game has an entirely different feel even if they stick to the same formula.
I'm hoping next gen hardware can handle rope physics. Rope arrows, pulleys, swinging from ropes, hookshot. I have a dream for a Rennaisaunce Hyrule with magical items. Along with shrine puzzles being overworld puzzles, forging weapons from materials, and seven cute girls as holy maidens.
This game has a ton of flaws. Horrible controls, dog shit AI, shallow combat, archaic time wasting animations, looks like a ps2 game visually, cooking is a time wasting slog
The list goes in and on
The way you use the sages powers is horrible and I don’t understand why they made dragon parts farming so gated.
Brother they reused the entire map, and yet STILL... they couldn't be bothered to design more than one Inn, 95% of vendors are just the same guy, and the puzzles are baby-brain tier. Not really defensible.
I payed for it because there is literally nothing else. That doesn't make it a 10/10. It's playable/10 at best.
I could excuse all the bullshit in this game if the story wasnt so fucking cringe. I cant even believe zelda stories are at this point now. Re-using the memories to tell the story again is peak laziness, and its even more lazy that they didnt account for people "spoiling" the little story in the memories out of order. Its like a really really bad anime fan fic.
I dont like how easy it is to get the Master Sword and Hylian shield compared to what you have to do in BoTW.
I do like how thing that were hidden behind physical DLC is now available in game like the Fierce Deity Armor and sword.
Haven't beat the game yet, what happens if you go to the wind temple without the paraglider?
Hope you have a lot of air balloons.
Sorry, I misread your post at first. It's apparently possible to complete without paraglider. You spawn in midair for the boss fight but if you fall into the void you'll be put on a safe platform above the boss.
That's crazy, thanks for the answer.
>>The game has a schizophrenic relationship with BotW, not acknowledging almost anything you did in that game with a couple of exceptions. No mention of the previous towers or shrines, not even the guardians.
It takes me out of it when the characters explain things to Link as if he didn't learn those very exact same things in BotW.
it's very tedious and brainlessly simple. like wow i connected 5 pieces of wood together to make a bridge to reach something only just to get a useless item that will disappear in a few hits. rinse and repeat 500 times.
I dunno why but my muscle memory for this game will not take hold, after 10~ hours I still press the wrong buttons for everything.
Sure.
>Same boring combat like the orginal. No improvements
>LEL build everything is boing
>Clearly didn't account for rewind because you can invalidate a ton of shit
>No MCZ is fucking gay
>Even WORSE menuing than BoTW, a feat a didn't think was possible
>Shitty plot, its zelda and you don't play for the story but at the same time it should at least be fucking consistent with the game its supposed to be a sequel too. It felt BoTW basically didn't happen
I fucking hate that area between the Rito village and Gerudo Highlands. By far the emptiest most pointless area in both games.
Doing all the tears before anything else spoils the twist they clearly intended to pull for the midgame. They frame the temples with "Zelda" doing some shady shit (you already know it's Ganondorf), the sages and Purah keep talking about finding Zelda (you already know where she is) and ends with Ganondorf baiting you (you already know it's bait). Either don't let me access these memories before the reveal in the castle or incorporate it into the story.
Yeah that's a good point. Did the tears and got the Master Sword early game. Knew where Zelda was long before going to Hyrule castle. Kinda ruined that part of the story.
my story progression has been weird as fuck
>wake up, zelda's gone, arm's gone, master sword's gone
>do random bullshit for 20 hours, random flashback scenes sprinkled every couple of hours
>get a 10 minute loredump from a furry ghost in a robot
>get master sword
>still haven't done any temple
although truth be told I kind of don't really care about the story
I played a lot of botw and the over world is pretty annoying to deal with because it’s so big. I’m lacking a lot of drive to explore much because I’ve seen it all so much already and it’s a chore to traverse. It’s ok and hooked me for quite a few hours but I’m slowing down rapidly.
I hate how the sages all fight over the 'A' input.
I don't like how fusion encourages you to replace cool weapon designs with identical monster horns.
What the fuck were they doing for 6 years?? SS to BOTW was 6 fucking years and all from scratch on a new console. Think about how different SS is to BOTW. This is bar none one of the laziest sequels to a game ever made, not even accounting for the fact it basically apes the exact same format as BOTW
Is this AI generated?
are you an idiot?
I don't like how we've had canine companions in the form of the Wolf Link amiibo for two games now but Nintendo didn't bother letting us tame the dogs and wolves we find in the wild
I also don't like how we can't see our horse's health and we can't heal them except by stabling them or reloading a save
I wish we had a hunger, thirst and rest mechanic given that food already exists in game
I wish we could fuse materials to bows
I wish that non-horse ridable animals could be stabled, I caught a bear but the stable guy said I couldn't keep it
Finally, I feel that the material system could have been the perfect solution to the durability problem, all they had to do was have materials that are fused to weapons absorb all the durability damage a weapon takes, so that the material breaks before the weapon itself takes any durability damage
>shit combat favoring spears since 2H weapons are slow as fuck and enemies like phantom ganon have gloom pools around them
>DOGSHIT hitboxes
weapon durability still sucks ass. if(when) your weapon breaks, dont even bother getting a weapon that isnt at least 25, because it does fuckall damage to basic mooks
>oh, but that long pole the cave gorilla things always have? 7 HEARTS WITH ONE SWING, LOL
>the depths is void of anything interesting unless you drop in from specific chasms. Also dont bother exploring, theres just pools of gloom or 40 ft high walls if you try going off the path beaten glowroots
>fighting high tier enemies like blue lynels and they drop a fucking knights broadsword, despite you basically needing tier 35+ weapons to even damage it
>addison
>shrines are braindead puzzles that usually nvolve some puzzle they want you to do thats easily circumvented by just making a bridge out of long rectangles
>various gizmos disappear despite still having remaining battery meter
>can find gizmos like rockets, fans, gliders, or what have you all over the overworld and in the depths for some reason, god knows why there even there, but OH god FORBID youre able to pocket them, you MUST use the gacha machines, you MUST
>temples rely on waiting for your retarded companion to charge his ability, so half the time youre just standing around doing nothing
>specifically for the water temple, your dumbass shark buddy is too fucking stupid to go in and shoot the waterwheel with water while youre holding up the floodgate, so you have to do everything yourself while he stands there like a worthless retard
>story is retarded, half the tears segments arent even story worthy
>ascend has a ceiling height limit because....?????????
>fuse and ultrahand are literally the same ability, but split in 2
>on that note, cant choose which fused weapon you want to destroy
>camera and the map are rune abilities for some reason, despite the map literally being mapped to a button already
the girls need bigger boobs. there shouldnt be an option to cross dress.
the underdark gets old pretty fast
sage is so fucking bad
can`t believe theres not even a favorite button for items
>No mention of the previous towers or shrines, not even the guardians.
There's actually drawings of the guardians in Purah's room at the lab. But yeah, that's about it.
The depths are really scary 🙁
Gibdo Queen is the biggest piece of shit I have experienced in years.
>spot dodges arrows in air
>on land your lightning strike will wear off if you wait too long to line it up right, god forbid you miss and land in the AOE wasting it for 30 seconds
>if it's about to go from white to brown again it just won't take damage with no indication, wasting a lightning strike
>does wicked damage with the sand blast and will attack you from nowhere in the 2nd stage while watching your ass for those crawler gibdos
Fucking wanna strangle whoever designed this
Made trivial by Mirror on the shield and any electric augment on your weapon or arrows.
Don't care, I shouldn't have to play catch up to the brown girl when she gets blown away by a tornado since she follows covid rules and no matter what will follow me 6 feet away and no closer letting it catch her
>I shouldn't have to play catch up to the brown girl when she gets blown away by a tornado
And I just told you that you don't.
The Sage powers are a suggestion that is easily substituted with your own equipment. Which is why i said use Lighting shit and blast it with light. Making the fight less than trivial.
The UI sucks and the dungeons are awful. Everything else about the game is great. It's a much better botw, 8/10. I'm still not sure about it being the new formula if they can't figure out dungeons.
The story is complete ass, like actually one of the worst in the series. They need Koizumi or someone else who can actually write something engaging that involves the triforce again.
Isnt he more on the business side now? What a waste, Koizumi should be much much more involved with the game side at nintendie, i feel like hes the only one who really understands how to tell a proper story there
>Everything that makes a Zelda game enjoyable is ass
>Evenso I give it an 8/10
I get it, this game is fun to cheese. If you like open worlds I can see the appeal but only up to 7.5/10 at most. Does 8/10 just mean playable nowadays?
Same poster, 8/10 just means it's a more realized version of Breath of the Wild. It does a lot of things that makes the game feel massive and there is actually way more to do this time around. Botw had a simple gameplay loop;
>find shrine
>find korok seed puzzle
>get new weapon that breaks
TotK
>find shrine
>find korok seed puzzle
>find cave systems
>find a path into the underworld
>find side quests for better loot
>find mini bosses for strengthening your weapons
>find zonaite to power up battery for more zonai shit
>find more zonai shit to make exploring way more fun
>help an NPC that activates another side quest somewhere else in the game later on and so on
Like I said, the dungeons are still ass but the overworld and exploring has been fully figured out in this game. It's really fun, for what it is.
I went in totk expecting botw dlc
Was pleasantly surprised, the game has much better progression in equipment compared to botw and the side content stuff is fun, and the rewards arent just some crap in a chest or korok seeds
What I hate tho is how some puzzles don't feel clever compared to BotW and is so easily cheesable, and the game desperately needs a fuckton of QoL
- needs 4 or 5 types of item categories that you can scroll down instead of scrolling right or left when throwing or fusing to a bow in combat
- needs fusing from inside the menu
- you cant change bows without pressing ZR first
- needs a holding function for cooking or anything from the shortcut menu instead of going into the actual menu
- when throwing they should default to items first instead of weapons
- the control scheme is a bit clunky
- change the unfuse from wiggling R stick to an actual fucking button
- ultrahand needs another axis for rotating
and theres a lot more but its just gripes with the controls mostly
overall its a 9.2
>change the unfuse from wiggling R stick to an actual fucking button
god, I can't tell you how many times I had to fuse/unfuse materials to get them aligned properly because of that stupid wiggling.
What did they meant by that?
Why no more ancient weapons can you make something as durable and fun to use as the Master Cycle?
Is Hetsu still in an out of the way area or is he now in Hateno or somewhere not story-related? Found upgrading inventory space more grating than weapon durability.
Music still isn't as memorable to me as previous entries.
Having the item menu be left and right only while attaching shit to arrows is super gay.
Ascend is a cool feature that I have yet to see any unique use for. I've used recall to cheese some shrines but I often forget ascend even exists.
The final battle was probably too easy. I didn't specifically prepare, only had one row of hearts and still didn't die once. I easily ran past every enemy on the run up to it.
The waves of enemies part was a cluster fuck, but fun
The Ganondorf fight was fine
The dragon fight was cool looking but not that fun.
Overall I liked it, but at some point rushed to the end because I was over it. The amount of side stuff is pretty crazy, there was clearly tons I hadn't even triggered. I would have loved it when I was 14 and didn't have the money to buy a lot of games.
Finally, the Depths sucked.
I just beat the game 10 minutes ago.
Skyward Sword was better.
lmaooooo
It was. Deal with it.
I have not played this game and really, regardless of whether or not you like SS I am laughing at any potential gay that buys this is a 10/10 GOTYAY reading that
So again
lmaooooooooo
>I have not played this game
I can tell.
Nuh uh
I feel SS was better than BotW but TotK is better than SS
Great Sky Island looks way too much alike on the surface to know where you're going when exploring shit and feels too linear, Great Plateau felt more free and varied in its environments and was designed better in this regard
The story is an atrocious downgrade from BotW, which was already a pretty bog standard story.
That's basically my biggest complaint.
>can't fuse weapons and items in the menu
That's my biggest complaint, honestly.
I still really like the game but I'm underwhelmed and I'm still very critical of the game like I was for botw
>enemy and boss variety is decent on its own now, but I expected way more for a sequel that took 6 years. bokoblins, moblins, and lizalfos are still 90% of what you fight.
>difficulty is still horribly balanced, with the healing system and retardedly balanced armor defense system still present, and everything is 10x easier to cheese with the new resources you have.
>reused Hyrule makes the game feel too much like botw like I feared, sky islands feel like an afterthought, depths don't have much to do but fight enemies and collect zonaite, and annoying ass cliffs everywhere you go.
>story all takes place in the past again and you're fed everything out of order
>dungeons are closer to feeling like traditional dungeons of the past, but still feel like a shell of dungeons from past Zelda games, and there's only 5.
>shrines are fun but still disappointed they all have the same music and aesthetic instead of having multiple themes. can't believe they brought back sheikah shrines but now they're green and are zonai shrines.
The sage abilities seriously knock this game down A LOT. They could of easily made them a hold down button, then hit the corresponding button with them. Little Timmy could figure that out too, so that's not an excuse Nintendo.
Bird is fine as is i guess because you just need to double tap A quickly while gliding and he instantly comes to you.
if you whistle in combat it brings them to you
but yes tulin is the best anyway
NO IT DOES NOT. this must be a placebo thing, because it DOES NOT.
Or you just have 1 dude out, which is also stupid since you should always have Tulin out by default.
i think it only works during actual combat
>L menu has the map in the top left
>Minus is already a dedicated map button
That should have been a Sage Ring option. It's literally a hand power just like the others. Press L to toggle the stance, then press a button to load the power. You've got X, Y, A, ZL, and ZR, one for each power. Then make it so if you press L while gliding it activates Wind automatically like how spamming A does now, since it's the only one you can use in the air.
I won't lie, having the story be broken up into memories that all take place in the past from Zelda's perspective AGAIN was probably not a good idea.
Not only will people inevitably find them out of order, but this time they are tied to a proper story as opposed to just little bits and pieces of Link's past that don't tell you anything you didn't already know or wouldn't learn if you never got any of the memories.
I found one memory where Zelda, Rauru and Sonia are all sitting down having tea, talking about hot to get Zelda back to her time, and the next one I find Sonia is fucking dead and Ganondorf is trying to kill Zelda and Rauru after ganking a secret stone. It's going to completely take the interest out of finding the tears that all happen between this.
Also, these have to be the longest lived incarnations of Link and Zelda ever. Link's like 118, and Zelda's fucking 10,117 or something close.
Still, I'm engaged and having fun so I can't complain too much.
First memory for me was Zelda deciding to become a dragon followed by Sonia getting shanked. Kind of made the following memories seem real pointless.
The game follows the exact same formula as BOTW
>tutorial island with 4 shrines, unlock an ability in each
>150 (a bit more?) shrines, they're the same thing but green now
>korok shit expands equipment slots
>the story is told through memories you unlock by going to different parts of the world
>there's one dungeon for each of the 4 races
>in a dungeon you activate the thing 4 times before fighting the boss
>after the boss you gain an ability from the important character
Haven't finished it yet though
The worst thing for me is having to run up to followers to activate their abilities, when they are likely running at the exact same time.
>cooking is a slog
How? You can pick recipes now and you can skip the animation.
k' and ragna have cooler super power arms
havent touched zelda tiktok btw
>>The UI is atrocious, even worse than in the previous game
It's objectively better. Didn't read the rest because probably bait like the first greentext.
>Literally none of the new features are fun
>99% of the "new" things you can do are just things you could do simply in BotW except now they take longer and are annoying to perform
>Fusion is a garbage mechanic
>The vehicle building is horrendous
>All of the equipment looks hideous
>Positioning the model of a rock over a sword model (which was made to look ugly when it looked good in BotW) is an incredibly lazy and horrible idea for a "mechanic" that has absolutely zero impact on gameplay. Pressing the attack button has gotten no more fun, but now what I'm seeing on screen looks uglier. Good job, Nintendo.
I am genuinely struggling to see what anyone likes about this as a sequel. There isn't anything good about it that wasn't better in the first game. Seriously. Not one single thing.
Just finished Wind Temple. This whole fucking thing sucks donkey ass
>everything is too fucking big
>the platforming are mostly just climb to the highest vantage point, use Tulin's Gust to glide to the next point, rinse and repeat until you reach the Ark
>the whole fucking Ark
>the boss fight is the worst type of spectacle boss where you don't need to do any of the combat at all
I got to the ark before Tulin
Items need a favorite option so I can tag which items I like at the top of the list.
I have a strong feeling this is going to Skyward sword route. In the coming months people will wake up to how lazy this game is and be more critical. You can already see it happening slowly
The combat is still worse than TP or WW and has 0 depth to it unless you're purposefully forcing yourself to do things in a certain way. Your approach for just about every non-boss enemy in the game is exactly the same.
The mech is so bad that it made me want to cry. You're much better off equipping it with shit to freeze things and let it run on its own instead of manually using it since all it does is make you slow as fuck, lowers your damage and gives you a huge as fuck hitbox with no bonus to your defense. Using it as an ice type party member is its only use.
The dungeons were gay, and I played through them twice since my first save got corrupted, with my second playthrough of them having a "no climbing" rule to make the dugeons a bit more interesting.
The bosses are an absolute joke.
Lynels are infinitely more dangerous than Ganondorf and even they are piss easy.
The player house fucking sucks shit.
Pluses:
Ultrahand is really fun.
Is this a mod to make them not ghosts or something?
Yeah
i think one of the biggest issues with this game is there is now ZERO replay value whatsoever. BOTW had like... 5 at beast. that's still better than TOTK's ZEERRROOO. It's not the open world part either, because i've played Elden Ring at least 4 times now.
TOTK is a completionist game. You do everything until you're sick of the game and then kill Ganondorf. Then you put the game down and wait for the next unless you want to speedrun it.
Game really is just DLC but they added runes that are far more janky and turns the otherwise boring puzzles in BotW into downright frustrating. The game definitely did some pros such as making Link more masculine, the actual Hyrule is less obstructive, (once you get past the garbage tutorial) and the sky diving mechanic is nice. I've yet to finish the game but I have fun speed running the game and basically nothing else. Hopefully it's as quick as Breath of the Wild.
The Companion abilities, while conceptually pretty cool, are way too fucking clunky to actually use. Either using their ability when you don't want it, fuck Tulin in particular for this one, or having to play a game of tag during combat for so long that it stops being worth it and you probably set off another ability while you were smashing A.
Tulin blew loot of a cliff while I was trying to grab it more often than I used him in combat. I kind of wish they just added another fucking menu to trigger them, since the lightning blast is great but I don't like chasing a fucking child to get it to go off. And sometimes they fucking run from you.
Someone already mentioned the Gibdos being a disappointment. Was expecting them to freeze you if you make eye contact with them like in previous games but they didn't do that. Took the fear factor from them and they ended up being easy enemies to fight.
I got legit nightmares when I was a kid when I first encountered them and ReDeads in OOT. Legit nightmares. They were those enemies that you had to kill right away of they'd freeze you and eat/hump you to death. They were a legit threat.
>They were those enemies that you had to kill right away of they'd freeze you and eat/hump you to death. They were a legit threat.
Funny thing is, they weren't. You could just run past all of them. Maybe there were like one or two in the well or shadow temple that you had to kill to get an item or open a door, but that's it.
They were probably the least threatening enemy in the whole game, they felt like the most because they were some scary motherfuckers if you were a small child playing the game when it was new. I know they scared the fuck out of me. Thank god I never made it to deadhand before I was able to handle the redeads. If I saw that shit when I was 6 I might have been too scared to touch a video game for life.
>Funny thing is, they weren't. You could just run past all of them. Maybe there were like one or two in the well or shadow temple that you had to kill to get an item or open a door, but that's it.
Definitely couldn't be careless with them like with a Deku Scrub or with a Stalchild and just run up to it and slash it. Had to run around it and slash it from the back or use Suns Song and/or Dins Fire.
Wouldn't say least threatening, at least not for me anyway, but glad that you had no problem dealing with them.
The slowmo bow shots are too OP with fused arrows. With full stamina you can shoot at least 10 arrows fused with strong attachable monster parts and you can ascend through the floor repeating the process because fusing through the floor resets your stamina. Its basically the problem with flurry rush in botw but even worse.
>The UI is atrocious, even worse than in the previous game
>he's not using Pro Hud
lmao
>>The game has a schizophrenic relationship with BotW, not acknowledging almost anything you did in that game with a couple of exceptions. No mention of the previous towers or shrines, not even the guardians
This bothers me aswell. It's like all of Hyrule suddenly has amnesia.
I'm really digging it, the only problem I see is the companion system/abilities. Even Nintendo knew they fucked up allowing you to disable them. BOTW did special abilities better
You can disable abilities in BotW too
Only annoying ability is goron for me.
Others don't really compromise you at all. Goron when driving/flying around fucks with your vision and adds weight imbalance to the vehicle. Also if you click on him in combat you get taken out of combat entirely
Combat has a poor flow. Just menus menus menus.
At least when you said fuck this and spammed bomb arrows in BotW you didn't have to pull up the menu for every single bomb.
>weapon breaks pull up menu
>shield breaks pull up menu
>bow breaks pull up menu
take damage pause game and sort through the meal menu
>attach item to arrow pull up menu
The depths are grindy as fuck and there's hardly anything down there. Many structures look important but hold nothing but poes, some even have pedestals that look like they may have had some significance at some point but serve no purpose. Paths lead to nowhere, places like that on the surface would have at least had a korok. Difficult light roots are on obnoxiously high cliffs.
>Retcons a lot of shit from BotW
Why do so many NPCs act like it's the first time they've met?
The controls are confusing bordering on messy.
I'm disappointed in myself for buying this especially when I said I'd think twice after how middling my impression of BotW was. This is the first time I've felt like, "Oh, this is no longer what I enjoyed as a kid."
The writing isn't very good and people have WAY too much to say. With this many NPCs and sidequests they need to keep it short and sweet.
>bad ui
Could def be better
>bad controls
Unless you're complaining about nigtendos shit joysticks, this is a skill issue
>sky islands are filler
90% of the sky is fucking air. That's like calling dorito chips the filler in the "full" bag.
>schizo relationshipship with BOTW
This cannot be overstated. This actively destroys exploration and the story. Making this thing feel more like an asset flip than majora.
>combats too simple
Yeah, its bad, but the real issue is that building a macgyver death machine is always less efficient, more time consuming. And not worthwhile after a cheap laugh. It does not help that...
>low durability is back
EVERY FUCKING THING BREAKS.
YOUR WEAPONS BREAK FASTER THAN CARDBOARD,
YOUR LEGO HOUSE BREAKS AND VANISHES WHENEVER IT FEELS LIKE IT.
YOUR GODDAMN CONTROLLER BREAKS AFTER A TINY BIT OF DUST
This game doesn't have the excuse of being "experimental" like its predecessor. Anyone who thinks that planned obsolescence is a good video game mechanic needs to dick a fucking suck.
The only reason durability exists is so they can trick retards with "tap y to win" as compelling gameplay.
Things not mentioned:
>dungeons are better than BOTW, but still don't compare to legacy games
>Zelda lore is somehow an even bigger fucking disaster than before BOTW
Nigtendo made their bed with the timeline shit. They need to finally lay in it.
>depths look really boring with practically no biome diversity.
And the game knows this because it actively impedes your ability to see it.
Otherwise yeah, 8/10. This game is so desperate to pretend its detached to BOTW that I hope we can get OOT style gameplay and move on. Or better yet, a complimentary fusing of the best from both.
Why the fuck you need a game pausing notification or a small cutscene every time you do or loot something? What's the point of "skip" button when it doesn't skip but makes it slightly shorter instead? I wonder how much time combined you waste for this in an average playthrough.
Fire temple was probably the worst offender. Like 3 fucking cutscenes in a row during a 10 meter walk.
The decision to have the story told through memories again was baffling. Especially as the 4 dungeons relate to Zelda's disappearance as well. I finished all the memories before even doing the second dungeon and Link knowing Zelda is a magic dragon while watching all these brainlets look for Zelda wasn't even remotely addressed
a lot of shit from BotW
Oh, great. Another schizo thread.
I would have liked to seen the option, much like Age of Calamity, to assign or direct the various Sages to specific tasks or formations. Instead you're left with several characters fucking up your point of view or framerate (unless, of course, you disable them).
Mineru is a missed opportunity as a playable character. Being able to assign weapons is a good start but she had the potential to be the gateway for so much. She isn't necessarily easy to find nor is her fetch quest all that easy. Why not invest a bit more into making her addition worthwhile? Need to reach the skies? Craft X, Y and Z and assign them to both arms and back. Difficult terrain or mini-boss? Again, craft or assign specific items and ride her into battle or over terrain. Have specific tasks related to her strengths. But once you have her in your party, you literally hand off random weapons and off she goes.
>The UI is atrocious, even worse than in the previous game
Same as BotW. I'm ok with it.
>The controls aren't as tight as they should be
Same as BotW. My problem with it is not having a nintendo console up until switch (NES doesn't count) so I keep pressing wrong buttons out of muscle memory. Also you sprint with B and jump with X, this ain't fucking Freedom Unite, why the fuck do I have to "claw" so much?
>The sky islands are mostly filler
I've only seen one before (there was quater-circle thingie you had to operate to get crystal and activate a shrine)
>The begging of the game is a slog, specially compared to the one in BotW
Yeah, I think Great Plateau was better. But! This is probably because TotK had to teach you how to glue things together and make sure you practice.
>The game has a schizophrenic relationship with BotW...No mention of the previous towers or shrines, not even the guardians.
Towers I noticed immediately, everything else is too early for me. One thing for sure: my save didn't transfer for some reason. I guess it's because I don't use cloud shit.
>The hand to hand combat is still too simple, the enemies are easy to ragdoll
Not a problem for me, I'm not very good at vidya.
>The Switch holds back the graphics and framerate and there's too much bloom and distance fog
Graphics look fine, emulators prove it, but performance is really fucking bad at times.
>Fusing is too much of a hassle and counterintuitive
Fusing could be a bit more informative.
>Wastes your time by virtue of having to watch some animations and interactions dozens of times.
Ugh, it's called SOUL, OK?! But yes, I agree.
