Why have they been trying so hard to make Destiny something it isn't?
Does anyone from the old Bungie still work at the company or have wokesters replaced them all?

They've been desperately trying to move it in the direction of being an MMO but it was never built to be that
It was always just meant to be a fun coop looter shooter with high level teamwork mechanics

They’re doing something like. No one would of guessed in 2016 or whenever this game launched I forget that it would outlive overwatch.

The entire industry always follows Bungie, for some strange reason.
      >Mouse aim in fps
      >Modern console FPS
      >Lobby and matchmaking system for consoles

How did Bungie create live service?

Not created, but made it mainstream. Outside of MMOs Destiny in 2014 was the first successful modern live service game.

Define live service because all of Destiny 1 dlc was paid and we've had multiplayer shooters with map pack DLC way before that

Murky definition for 2014 but the constant updates and focus on the next dlc while not being an MMO. Either way it wasn't until after the release of D2 in 2017 that we saw other publishers being to invest heavy on the live service model.

can you finally use matchmaking to do a raid? i am not a zoomer so averse to using outside resources to run something in-game so i have never tried one

It's existed for years but matchmaking for Raids is literally DOA. Hours of matchmaking at best if it even finds anyone.
Nobody who wants to raid or do Grandmaster (CBT) Nightfalls wants to randomly get matched with convenience-seeking smoothbrains. The tiny effort required to use an LFG instantly removes 95% of the shitter playerbase and vastly increases chances of actually beating the raid.

It got so bad I stopped playing the game last year. I can deal with some fomo bullshit but not if it is FOMO that costs money and is just gonna get sunset anyway.

Anon they aren't trying to make it an MMO. You're just confused and angry. They have those elements because it makes money, not because they want it to be an MMO.

Destiny fans are like fricking junkies. Worse than any actual MMO. Constant complaints about every aspect of the game including the ridiculous cost and then continue to play it every day.
The gunplay is tight and the raids have given me some of the best experiences in gaming (though moreso the ones from the first game) but it's no excuse for the absurd amount of shady business practices bungie continue to spew out year after year.
      t. ex-destiny junkie, played from 2014 release until around 2020 when I finally got out the loop

What went wrong with Destiny series?

They could never stick to a vision for the game. They had something solid as a foundation back in 2015 but they were never satisfied with anything, then the second game happened and everything had to be rebuilt all over again.

Why do you still play Destiny 2?
They literally deleted content that you paid for, expansions gone forever, how is that okay?

the saddest part of it all is that Destiny 2 came out when Destiny 1 was at its peak. There was so much end game and events to farm, and the items and skills were interesting enough to allow for unique builds.
Then destiny 2 came out, with worse weapons (two primaries and 1 special weapon) and worse abilities (cooldowns were 2 times slower than in destiny 1 even with the best gear). They literally downgraded the game when they made destiny 2.
