lol. if you have 200pop, you really need ~100vils to be able to rebuild your army quickly as you keep fighting. i hope you're building more than 1 barracks/range/stables.
The general rule of thumb is around half of the population limit. Building more TCs in Castle Age is also important for exponentially improvising your economy unless you know what you're doing with an all-in push. Three active TCs is good, maybe four on a heavy boom.
In team games you can briefly hit even 130+
1v1 you most likely start to slow down the moment you hit popcap
Rule of thumb never stop producing vills and in castle get at least one extra TC asap, preferably two.
what's the benefit of multiple TCs? Thanks for the tips
Increasing villager production, so you can shit out more workers instead of being bottlenecked at one; Castle Age sees much larger economies than Feudal as a result. The actual amount you may want depends entirely on what your strategy is.
If you have problems managing your economy, you could default the gathering points to the woodlines and then reassign those villagers as you see fit later. Use hotkeys to go to your TCs and idle villagers, by default those are on Mouse 4/5.

thanks this is really helpful. I'm off to practice against AI now that I've been in this thread
use your common sense, moron. More TCs: >increase your pop >let your spawn villagers in parallel >let you research multiple TC techs at once while spawning villagers
multiple TCs=reach 100vils faster=collect more resources quicker=quicker upgrades/more units.
>100vils
wow you're so cool, you used to shortened version of an already very short world!
okay, cool, cool, vills is cool, but what about...
veevees?
veeveeleeneeos?
Vs?
>exponentially improvising
stop using this term you obnoxious normie bastard. It doesn't mean "a lot" or "bigly". It means "growing/expanding at an exponential rate".

I had to rewind time, the towers were a mistake because they we're melting people eventually bringing in trebs close enough to attack so instead I just sniped cav archers and the infantry are glitched out, should be safe and cozy now.
it's a mixed bunch, unfortunately most noobs don't play much, we have like one guy who plays ranked on low elo
honestly it's mostly just discussion about AoE, other games and whenever pros play in tournament
The issue with RTS games is that online matches take too much time and autism
casuals will get matched against autists who have no life outside of the game and will minmax everything, so 99% of the playerbase gets bored and moves on and you end with a dead fanbase, with the few people still there being mentally unstable autists
>casuals will get matched against autists who have no life outside of the game
aoe2 matches you with players of a similiar elo to mostly prevent this. it's only an issue your first few games until you establish your elo. casual players mostly play against other casual players of the same skill level.
Since the release of Age of Empires 1 in 1997, I have never played anything other than skirmishes against the AI in any AoE.
Never played the campaigns or did the multiplayer.
>someone is better than me >the problem is not me, its the Black folk that ruined the game
All you have to do is lose once and then you get to play versus the other dads
I'm cheesing the AI while making a comfy base deep in the woods because I'm not in a rush.
they just need to buff handcannoneers
How many villagers do you need to have for 200 pop? I'm a moron at this game and get destroyed by the ai.
around 100
god I've been trying to get by with 30 and I thought that was a lot

You get your villagers faster which makes you snowball out of control very quickly

I've never played an RTS before

Why is it f(x) and not f(a,r,x)? I don't get math at all
>he hasn't played bioshock infinite
because x is a variable and a, r are constants

You go can even as high as 160 if you make elephants
Or - get this - it depends on each game. Bet you didn't think about that, NPC.
It doesn't. You always want a lot of villagers
>get rushed
>you use up all your food spawning veeveeleenee oh's
what now!!!
You can make villagers and army at the same time
yes, with 0 food
ask me how I know you're a subhuman genetic diarrhea goy npc golem who works as a cashier
>archers
When i used to play i only made max 40. I dont like making lot of villagers because i like big armies
uh oh meat grinder bros i kinda fricked up and built my walls too far back im kinda squished

I made a cute little farming community, I don't really have a game plan for busting out of here and taking these guys on though.
cool so there was a ton of empty space behind that starting area forest
i duno if that maps updated, might've changed it since that's from the conquerors expansion.

Red Alert 2 is superior in every way.
With quality of life it could be. When you need an autoclicker to stay competitive at high level it really can't be called superior.
Until tourneygays came along and turned it into Age of Build Order 2: asiaticclick Edition

How many times are they going to fundamentally change the organ gun until it's finally good?
