AoE is a better series and AoE2 > SC:BW. Not only does it have much more content, but mechanically it is a far superior game. SC:BW is so poorly balanced that things like limited number of units in a control group is gimped so that players can't easily just muta stack, not to mention the hotkey customization is far better on AoE2 along with unit pathing and everything else.
The thing is, SC:BW could possibly get fixed to where it's a contender but no one wants to piss off the handful of Koreas that play it competitively and are deathly afraid of change because god forbid a rush of new talent comes in to challenge the people that put 20+ years into their broken game.

I'd say it's average multiplayer slop you would expect from microsoft in 2023. Accessible, designed for consoles, forgotten a year after release, with no hope of recovery.
Because its more fast paced and has more action going on. Taking your time with AoE, and exploring all the ages is fun. Its not that fun doing that vs other players though.
For me, it's Broodwar. It's more direct and fast paced. Also, Zerg is a cool race. AoE is fun, but it's boring. >but muh BW balance

Starcraft would be even more popular if they release it on Steam. Same with Red Alert 2. Not many people enjoy using Ubishit, Origins or Blizzards crap launchers.
