That was already way past the pinnacle of the franchise
>PC version has more tracks, better graphics and more detailed damage model >PSX version has better handling model career mode doesn't drag for as long and cooler cheat vehicles
Which version is better?
It's not timeless at all. Don't get me wrong MW is great but it very much hinges on a certain style and movement that only existed at a specific time. It by definition cannot be timeless, that's like saying movies made because of the Cold War paranoia are "timeless"
The game is good because of the police chases and police scanner, and the world map being extremely easy to navigate with long stretches of straight roads.
I guess I can see where you're coming from when you look at it's soundtrack, or the car customizations, but from a gameplay and artistic standpoint the game feels amazing to play, it looks gorgeous at modern resolutions and there isn't much to it to make me thing "ugh, this again?"
I thought i would hate doing milestones, until a sick metal track plays mid pursuit and I'm in it again.

I think people who are put off by the street racing culture aspect and see it as outdated would have just been people who don't play any racing game to begin with anyways and wouldn't have even played MW on release.
Nah, I played Carbon way more than Most Wanted cause I never actually owned MW when it was new but I still have my Carbon copy.
Rockport is just better designed. The cop AI in Most Wanted is better and more convincing as well. Carbon is too short and the canyons are just a novelty. And I don't miss drift as a game mode.
this game is great but it's honestly ruined by the police chase requirements in the later parts of the game
don't get me wrong it's not hard, it's just the grind required is not fun at all. great I need to run into a bunch of shit along the sidewalk again, but this time I have to hit 1000 objects instead of only 800. all it takes is one frickup on a spike strip or an suv squad flipping your car over at a corner and bam you just wasted 20 minutes for nothing.
Yeah I have been having a ton of fun with the PS2 version recently. the framerate is way worse then i remember as a youngster but it is still really fun. The cutscenes hit a little different nowadays.
To be fair, Rivals is a soft word.
Burnout is usually not on Need for Speed's level, but Burnout 3 absolutely blows the best NFS's butthole out. It's the best arcade racer.
I only played 2 NFS games (both on PSP) the Undercover and the MW and even though I have played with the undercover the MW seems better to me and by far despite the limitations of the console. its soundtrack is just EPIC and every time you opened the game you were greeted with that cool intro video
you could put Underground - Carbon and it would be right
Underground looks quite bad and 2 is still not very pretty
Most Wanted's piss&shit filter creates a beatiful veil to cover the bad graphics
>GOAT racing games
>gran turismo 2
>r4: ridge racer type 4
>NFS MW
>midnight club dub edition
>test drive 5
Porsche Unleashed on PC is the best NFS game
you meant high stakes
>PC version has more tracks, better graphics and more detailed damage model
>PSX version has better handling model career mode doesn't drag for as long and cooler cheat vehicles
Which version is better?
I think both are great, I prefer the pc version because the psx version is piss easy, granted I grew up with the pc version so I'm probably biased
The PC version is not that hard aside from the final champion tournament which is bullshit
yeah but I found the psx version even easier
I played PC version and loved it especially with a racing wheel. Be cop mode was cool too with deployable spike strips and such.
Please
Add
>Burnout 3
>Enthusia: Professional Racing
>Daytona USA
>Initial D: Arcade Stage ver.3
and
>LEGO Racers
Good list. I would also add Twisted metal black in it as well
That's a pure car combat game. It's closer to quake and unreal than reflection studio's driver series or even ridge racer.
pic rel.

Carbon > MW

The biggest problem with Carbon is that the game is too slow and there are too many sharp corners
The highway also barely gets used at all
Try playing Carbon right after MW, not only the map is smaller the game is also slower to compensate.
I'm not sure if the map is smaller but one good thing is that the rubber banding is much less annoying
this game is great but it's honestly ruined by the police chase requirements in the later parts of the game

What the frick are these cars you idiot it's a street racing game
She did too
>MFW I didn't know there was a 3rd person mode
I'm moronic
I beat Carbon without knowing about the speed breaker
PS2 version I hope
How's your car runnin?
SLOWLY RECALL ALL YOUR MIND
WHILE YOUR SOUL'S GONE COLD AND ALL HOPE HAS RUN DRY
Too much """urban""" culture, I'll stick with hot pursuit 2 which has more respectful American vibes
NFS World is underrated, specially now with the fan servers
Absolutely true. Masterpiece.
>ricer era
>brown color motion blur era graphics
That was already way past the pinnacle of the franchise
nobody cares about boring exotics
Underground>Prostreet>Hot Pursuit 2>Most Wanted>Porsche Unleashed>Carbon>World>Underground 2>Undercover
When did you realized that burnout > need for speed?
They are completely different style of games aside from Hot Pursuit 2010 which is basically a modern Burnout game
Burnout has like one game (3) that rivals the best of Need For Speed
To be fair, Rivals is a soft word.
Burnout is usually not on Need for Speed's level, but Burnout 3 absolutely blows the best NFS's butthole out. It's the best arcade racer.
Revenge is as good as 3 and 2 is underrated
>Aged like fine wine
just like mommy mia
