I wish PS1 homebrew was more of a thing. I feel like the hardware is a pretty good balance of early 3D capabilities as well as 2D abilities. It even has a decent FMV decoder chip that could do 30fps video. You generally see a lot more Saturn homebrew than you do PS1, despite the fact that the Saturn sold like shit and way less people had one. While the PS1 was wildly popular as a machine, and PS1 games can be played on PS2 and above hardware.
The truth is Sega and Nintendo attract actual gamer that are dedicated enough to do that stuff. PlayStation is for fleeting normalgays that dump it and forget it the moment the next big thing comes along.
NES sucks worse than PS1 now. The difference is that NES gameplay mechanics are dogshit while PS1 only looks bad. Of all pre 6th gen consoles, SNES has aged the most gracefully.
Because it started to do 3d, with wonky 3d controlls. It was fine back then because you had no frame of reference, but as you got older and started to play more polished games with less float and smoother action playing the old stuff feels rough.
2d games on the ps1 still feel fine most of the time.
Why do you judge old games by current standards? The games were great at the time and thats all that matters. Hardly any old games are worth going back to. You had to play them in the time period they released to really enjoy them.
PS1 was experimenting with early 3D, there were no standards yet
And it wasn't fantastic at 2D for whatever technical reason I can't remember
It's still better than every console that came after it, it was soul exemplified. Innovation was everywhere.
The PlayStation (and N64) were both consoles based around experimentation with 3D and it really shows in how clunky a lot of those games are, whereas the NES was already built off of earlier 2D vidya concepts. It wasn't until the GameCube/PS2/Xbox that 3D games evened out.
Depends on the game. A lot of early 3D games really did age like shit, especially whenever tank controls were involved. That said, I can't find any issues with games like Xenogears, Rival Schools, Symphony of the Night or even Crash Bandicoot.
Your bait would be more believable if you had said SNES. NES, whilst having many great games and birthing Nintendo's A+ lineup, it was also full of many garbage arcade ports and cheaply made shit churned out in a month.
Go beat Ninja Gaiden for the NES and then call me back.
Give me your number and I’ll call you to discuss it later.
asl?
blocks your path
Because (You) want to bait.
Simple as.
>Why
Playstation was always shit. Nothing has aged. Only your perception is different now.
Your mom
Net Yaroze was great.
>Net Yaroze was great.
Always use to read about it, never had any experience with one. sorry about deleting my post. OCD makes me want to correct every little typo I make.

Is this another /vr/ anon who has spent the last 30 years in irrecoverable autistic rage?
always, anon!
>mature 2d vs early 3d
PS1 in terms of 3D graphics is the equivalent of early Atari games in terms of 2D graphics.

PS1 is the best console ever created, homosexual.
Okay, but why. Let's hear your reasons
muh nintendo
spyro trilogy will always be great
Bait thread.
Love NES.
Love PS1.
reddit out of 10 made me reply.
You had BETTER revise that list to include SNES, mister!
Vagrant Story looks gorgeous

OP just can't handle the greatness.
go play Ace Combat 3 (the japanese version) then come back
>3
...is 1 okay?
I bought a Negcon at the retro shop because I am a big Ridge Racer fan but never had one and also I want anything neg in a world full of poz.
RR with a negcon is smooth enough to a line of cocaine off. It also is godlike for wipeout 2097. Destroys laptimes and your wrist.
>twist controller
based
also all three games are good except the international version of 3
