>"Ah, sweet! It's another copypasted corridor dungeon with a re-used main story boss fight!"
>"I sure do not miss hand-crafted, unique and well paced levels from older Souls titles!"
Souls and Zelda are slop franchises now.
only Zelda tbh
Souls still respects its own origins and fanbase
Only to the extent that the devs fell for their own memes about the franchise and everything is just a pale imitation of dark souls 1 over and over and they prioritize difficulty over designing things properly
souls games at least are fun
Almost as bad as Tendies of the Kingdom, troony.
Is there a more insecure gaming group than Fromdrones?
No one metioned TotK here and the first thing a Fromdone mind thought of was Nintendo and Trannies. Fascinating.
Ah did they hurt your feewings? So sad, big mad.
the most insecure fandom that has ever graced this earth were always tendies if you have been in the gaming for decades.
sure and now fromdrones take silver, congrats, morons
You got butthurt about it so it sure sounds like his assumption was correct.
>Is there a more insecure gaming group than Fromdrones?
From haters are easily the more insecure group
noob
>we need to create artificial game length now because every game needs to be 80+ hours long
They are not copy/pasted, and there still are hand crafted levels
You just don't like dungeon crawling, and that's okay
Dungeon crawling? 90% of the game time is just riding a horse and collecting flowers
Yeah that's what you get when you avoid all the dungeons, fricking moron
The "dungeons" are small corridors with some shit puzzle in between, filled with useless loot, enemies with animations recycled from ds3, and some boss you have already defeated 4 times
Wow i love dungeon crawling
False
>enemies with animations recycled from ds3
lmao burying that in there hoping nobody notices you're pretending to have an opinion
>DLC drops.
>New map.
>Enter Mine Cave #24
>Suddenly you fight a green haired Malenia, but her name is now Milena, Blade of Michel or some other shit
>Fromdrones will defend this BTW.
"ack-ctually her cape is green instead of red!!!"
Mountaintops of Giants would be better as a fully empty, dead area.
But From are now like every other AAA developer and are too afraid of having "empty" map so they would rather copypaste shit all over and rid everything of it's unique appeal.
When Miyazaki said that he was inspired with Shadow of the Colossus for this game, i hope that meant he wouldn't be afraid of having huge stretches of mostly empty land you have to travel through, but then it turned out it's yet another fricking boring Open World with the same structure as all other Ubisoft-like maps.
yeah, every other area felt okay until the copy-pasted caelid dogs and crows in mountaintop. felt like the late-game budget dry-up zone. no explanation or easy to determine reason why they are there, so all the lore autists come up with farfetched stuff.
My brain immediately turned off when Liurnia is literally a massive empty lake devoid of content
I realised on my no chalice dungeon run how silly empty ER is. The game is pretty short if you only do the good content.
I mean, honestly, if the entire game had as many copy pasted dungeons as the starting area in the game instead of being front loaded trash I probably would have liked the game so much more because I wasted so much time trying to find secrets and new content where there was none
For me it turned off when all the "lakes" were fricking ankle deep lmao.
game so good people are seething about its success over a year later
Year and a half.
If it was castlevania or megaman with reused bosses you'd be basedjaking until your jaw dislocates.
Literally nobody said this.
I've literally said this not even 24 hours ago while entering a crowded bar
Dude let it go
>Doesn't do any of the copy-pasted dungeons
>still has more content than any other souls game
???
Elden Ring is how open world games should be designed. They don't expect people to actually 100% the game like Ubisoft collectathons, so the chances of people actually seeing recycled content is rather low (it happens but not often) other than the Erdtree bosses. Yet completionist autists spend a bunch of time hitting every corner of the map and then complaining too much of it is similar.
>you played the game too much
The most baffling defence yet. Please, inform me as to an acceptable amount of hours I should be limited to in order not to see the gaping chasms in the open world design.
Go collect every single weapon in DS1, including the ones with 1-5% drop chance and tell me you had fun, moron.
I didn't grind any drops in elden ring and still did every cave, dungeon, tunnel, mine and catacomb and defeated every boss. I also picked up 98% of every pick-upable item placed in the world. I do this in every souls game I play, every time I play them. Only elden ring is the one that felt like a chore even on my first playthrough because it's so much repeated, copy pasted content. I don't excessively grind, I just explore the game world.
It felt like a chore because your average souls game is 20 hours and this one takes 120 hours. Its still on you for not being able to figure that out. No one forced you to grind every bit of content and then act hard done by by your own choices. You didn’t have to explore every corner, but you’re an autist bred and raised on fomo like a good consoomer, and you shot yourself in the foot this time.
>your average souls game is 20 hours
the frick
Yeah he's right
An average playthrough of DS3 or Bloodborne it's like 15-20 hours
>Bro, just play through the game with your boring starter gear and stale as frick AoW. If you're lucky, you might just stumble onto something cool or some random ass enemy might drop a cool weapon/armour
moron
What a bizarre defense. Why even bother making the open world if you don't want people exploring it? Isn't the idea to make a game so good that people want to explore it? Why would I pay full price for a game to only play 40% of it? That's not even getting into how many great weapons and armor are in random places in the open world. Should everyone just be stuck with whatever random garbage they find instead of seeking out weapons that fit their build?
>grinding drops is the same as exploring a map
fricking idiot
>y-you played too much!
embarassing
it's ultimately on the game designer to ensure game is enjoyable through it's entirety no matter how is it played
if they needed to pad it out with lazy, copypasated content, then that just means they had misguided priorities and Open World was a mistake
> it's ultimately on the game designer to ensure game is enjoyable through it's entirety no matter how is it played
Looks like the succeeded, as far as I’m concerned. And that’s all that matters.
>MORE CONTENT MORE CONTENT
zoomers like you are moronic fricks
better no content than bad content
Strawman
Elden Ring has more hand crafted levels as the other Souls games, it's just padded out with a lot of optional catacombs, hero's graves and so on because its going for scope. BB's chalice dungeons are magnitudes worse. Stormveil, Raya Lucaria and Leyndell alone mog the Souls series.
>BB's chalice dungeons are magnitudes worse
Optional content that is accessible by clicking a button VS optional content that you are forced to slog through and try avoiding in order to access the few good content
Stormveil, Raya Lucaria and Leyndell alone mog the Souls series
Stormveil is good
Raya is a 15 minutes area
Leyndell is an unpleasant slog
You will never be anor londo
Chalices also have an array of completely unique enemies and bosses and worthwhile rewards.
>Raya is a 15 minutes area
>You will never be anor londo
Really makes you think
Anor Londo isn't very good. It looks cool but the actual level design is mostly flat, and there's not much to actually explore. A lot of people thought it was disappointing.
Leyndell is way better, way more verticality, way more variety, way more routes, way more shit going on in general. Ludo area.
Anor Londo is garbage
You aren't forced to slog through anything, ER is about open world exploration, stumbling upon dungeons and discovering new items, enemies, npcs is the whole point. We don't want to click a button to access them, we want to explore. There is no reason to do chalice dungeons in BB besides getting the platinum trophy and PvP autism. No one enjoys them.
>Raya is a 15 minutes area
In a speedrun, sure.
>Leyndell is an unpleasant slog
How? Even at worst its a pleasant area, the main route is not hard, there are no real gimmicks. You can rush to Morgott if you really want to.
>You will never be anor londo
Ah yes. Painting guardians blocking my way on the rafters. Gargoyle gank squads. Generic knights in a bland empty castle. The long runback to pikachu and snorlax. truly the GOAT area.
>Optional content that is accessible by clicking a button
What do you mean? you have to do them if you want good blood gems for ng+ builds and ng+ is the real playthrough.
worst souls game
This was my biggest complaint with this game. It felt like you never just fought/did anything just once. You’d fight something and then fight it again later on, so my initial impressions of the game were really good, and then slowly got worse and worse by the end
>"Ah, sweet! It's another copypasted corridor dungeon with a re-used main story boss fight!"
Yeah, that's why I dropped Botw 2
Lies of P is coming in september
I hope it can provide a genuine souls experience, something fromsoftware hasn't done in almost a decade (sekiro isn't souls)
Elder Rings is a certified classic, thanks for drumming up the reminder of free advertisement to drop into this great game again.
Elden Rang bad
New Zelda game gud.
Elden Ring has as much handcrafted content as previous games if not more.
Yeah that's not the issue. The problem was shoving so many copy pasted shit in the game tainting the overall presentation. Game would be better if 60% of the game was deleted only to keep and improve the legacy dungeons. Imagine if they keep them and made them interconnected like in DS.
Instead we have BIG EMPTY FIELDS and le same looking minor side dungeons with reused gargoyles again and again and gain and again. Now your game is 100 hours long and a fricking CHORE to go through. GREAT!
The world is interconnected, just on a larger scale.
The only egregious copypaste IMO is the worm bosses (could have replaced some with NPC invasions or something), and Godefroy. I actually enjoyed many of the side dungeons, deifnitely better than the chalice dungeons in BB.
>Game would be better if it was only the parts that are 3/4ths shit instead of the part that is 1/2 shit
The legacy dungeons are weaker when confronted with classic soulsborne levels yeah but it's still great. Of course they couldn't find the time to make something as good just look at the moronic size of the map, the massive amount of enemies and bosses and levels. Maybe we'll go back to 10/10 levels in the dlc. We can only hope.
I enjoyed most of the catacombs tileset dungeons than I did the entirety of the legacy dungeons minus stormveil
>classic soulsborne levels
name 7
Sen's Fortress, Yarnham, Anor Londo, Darkroot Garden, Boletaria, Cainhurst.
Eat shit
The entirety of dark souls. Yeah I even loved Lost izalith and shit. Because you feel like you're at the bottom of the world and can sense the weight of it above your head. I never had this feeling in ER. Even when taking the huge elevator to go into the underground cities. Maybe because I don't go there by foot making small progression level by level.
tower of latria
research hall
upper cathedral ward
undead burg to undead parish
ringed city
boletaria castle 1-3
oolacile
All of these shit on Elden ring. Don't @ me, I'm not gonna reply. Don't care, didn't ask, eat shit.
When will the open world meme end? Why are there so many ludites who see "open world" and immediately claim its better. What is wrong with linearity? What is wrong with "theme park" open worlds which actually have the content in them and dont make you trudge 100km every time you want to do something?
Let it fricking end already for gods sake
People enjoy the illusion of a greater world being out there.
Very small minority of people will actually do majority if all content of Elden Ring on their first playthrough. For them it's just a game where they can "enter" a vast Open World, FEEL it's an Open World and then just experience a tiny part of it, never to return.
It's all about the illusion and lie. They don't need to know it's all copypasted, but they will have issue if it's blatantly linear or level based and constrained (even though DeS and DaS weren't really linear).
I did all of the content my first playthrough and enjoyed it, sounds like a skill issue to me
>you have to mentally brainfrick yourself into enjoying shitty content, skill issue
You just have trash taste
Why should others have to suffer at the hands of morons who dont even play a majority of the game? Why should the players who do 100% the game (or near 100% it), explore everything, etc, get punished by the game with repeat content, similarity, and so on, only for a very small subset (probably less than 5% of total players if I had to guess) of players who play the game linearly but are fooled into thinking its bigger?
These fricking morons probably cant, dont, wont, wouldnt, couldnt, and would rather not finish the game even if it was 100% linear.
I 100% the game and I wasn't punished, skill issue
Because normalgays are obsessed with them. When a new game is announced google “is [game]..“ and one of the first results is always gonna be “is [game] open world“. Just look at the numbers the zoomer zeldas did compared to the real ones
I said it many times already and I'll say it again.
Hand crafted levels > open world slop.
Yes, Elden Ring has a lot of content.
Yes, even if you just count the hand-crafted content, there is a shitton of it, more than any previous game they made.
But that only proves everyone's point. If they cut out the fat and weren't afraid of having not-evenly spaced content/Points of Interest on the map, it would be a way better, organic experience.
do we really need this thread every single day. it has been like year and a half.
Yes as people need to know that Elden Ring is a bad game
This game gave me Souls fatigue like no other, made me drop the genre tbh senpai.
I thought the same but then i played Dark Souls 1 again and honestly it was such a breath of fresh air compared to Elden Ring.
That game feels like utter flanderization of the formula in comparison.
Open world games are inherently flawed. I couldn't do more than 2 playthroughs if you payed me. It's all so bloated, the loot is trash and hidden in abysmal copy paste dungeons, the bosses are the least memorable in the souls series because of copy pasting, poor balancing, broken OP player tools and input reading
>MUH TECHNICALLY IT'S NOT INP-
input reading. Level design is frontloaded in Stormveil and then tanks hard with the rest of the legacy dungeons being way too linear. I personally was just not a fan of the vanilla fantasy setting and art direction and the unwillingness to change dodgeroll combat for an entirely new IP was a cowards decision. Another thing to note is all the crutches, summons, broken spells and status effects, hidden pause button, OP weapons, broken stat/ash of war combinations. The game is riddled with useless systems that were just shoehorned in there, crafting, garment alteration, ""hunting"" and the inability to reclaim smithing stones from upgraded weapons either forcing you to look for them or replay the game all over again is an outdated design choice especislly for such a huge game.
People defending it are weirdos. It's very clearly nowhere near as good an experience as the previous games despite all their flaws and outdated design. Also the way multiplayer was implemented as an identical version to previous games but with less features in an open world is moronic, backward decision that completely shits on all the promises of "focus on multiplayer" that were made.
I'm sorry but riding a horse for 20 minutes just to fight 20 of the same dragons and get lost in the 20th underground dungeon just to get to the straight corridor "legacy dungeon" and comet azur the aimbot boss in 3 seconds while distracting it with summons is not it.
ER is about 50% filler. The filler is worthless "content". I got the ranni ending and the goldmask ending but I don't want to play it again. Maybe in the future I will, or maybe I have been fatigued out of this genre
/blog
I played the game at launch, dropped it when i got to atlas plateu and still haven‘t picked it up again. With ds3, bb and sekiro i couldn‘t put those games down. I don‘t know if it‘s souls or open world fatigue at this point
Souls fatigue is a real thing. NPCs sound the same. No cities. Quests are a convoluted joke. Worlds are always abandoned. Demon's souls ,DS1 and Bloodborne are my favorite games of all time, but it's time to start thinking about different things for me now. Time to move on
Guess i‘ll find out if it’s that when the next non open world souls game drops
>hand-crafted, unique and well paced levels from older Souls titles
yep i sure do love me some demon ruins!
These threads are so tiring
We've been having these since this fricking game released.
It sold millions regardless
What's the point? for the (You)s?
I suppose mental illness has no limits
The side dungeons are probably the most universally disliked part of the game, that isnt a hot take. There's what? Six legacy dungeons and 14 sub-legacy dungeons? All "hand crafted". The bait on this board is getting weaker.
Imagine seething about Elden Kino one entire year later
>lets slap reshade on it to hide how bland the game really looks
Elden Ringers are the new DS2lovers huh?
Looks like DS3
Come on, it's not that bad. DS3 was offensively ugly sometimes
I liked it
it was fun
>your unique well paced level
Totk is still a DLC
>ah, sweet!
Wrong board
DUDE ENEMIES ARE BIG BLOBS OF ONE COLOR AAAAHHHHH GREY AND BROWN
Yeah i also found the magic dungeon kinda shitty the manor was better
So, DLC q1-2 next year? Give more curved swords, big and smol.
i wish there were more games like fromsoft games where you can just play the game and there's no cutscenes or dialogue, reading walls of texts constantly, just walking around and doing shit
I turned on cyberpunk and first 20 minutes is just some people talking at you, thats boring
>lands between is an entire continent apparently
>that has no settlements, villages, fields of land to grow food, no cities
>only one capital, one big castle and some forts
>most of the area are catacombs and caves and mines
>there is no port for the ships to arrive in
>Liurnia/"Lakes" are not lakes, they are yet another swamp because all the water is ankle deep at most
>apparently there was a war between "carian nobles" and the order, but honestly it's hard to draw the picture how that went when the lands are like 500 meters apart and one has a big ass fricking big ass capital and the other has just Hogwarts rip off
>somehow Malenia walked all around Lands Between to fight Radahn and then was carried all the fricking way back by a single soldier
And i could list more. Elden Ring is probably one of the worst planned settings i've seen in my life. It's utterly embarassing and the more you look at really anything, the more you realize how much they just made up on the spot or rewrote into the nonsensical bullshit it is now.
>no settlements, villages, fields of land to grow food, no cities
You didn't play the game
>Elden Ring has more enemy variety than most games to exist
>Elden Ring doesn’t railroad you into going with a specific build or Ash of War or path to beat the game
>easy to follow story
>Ganker still hates it
moronic dishonest Fromdrone with moronic arguments.
You type like the kind of person that would scramble to microwave his hard drives if there was a particularly impatient knock at the front door
>the Donald Trump school of argument
I don't associate with moron homosexuals who think they can just sit in their shitty diapers and pretend the world doesn't hate their stink.
You're absolutely right.
Don't engage. Don't respond. Don't even humor them.
Some of these homosexuals literally sit here all day baiting people into arguments for hours. It's just not worth it.
Use Ganker filters.
Ring has more enemy variety than most games to exist
it's time to put this myth to bed
They're optional
>dude! page 10 bumps after half an hour of no replies lmao
holy shit someone is desperate lol
