I have no idea why the writers are just unable to accept that Castlevania, at it’s core, is about Dracula. From beginning to end, the story has always been about Mathias and his feud against the Belmonts. Dracula is mentioned a few times in passing in the show, but only to be referenced as a relic from the past, with nobody remembering who he even is despite the fact that the Belmont's claim to fame is always the fact that they're the family that exists to hunt and kill him.
I honestly have no idea how they'll handle Soma since Dracula was supposed to have be "redeemed" in an earlier season ruining the point of his arc.

i played almost every castlevania and the whole dracula resurrecting every 100 years and the castle being "alive" has always been just a dumb escamotage to keep making big ass castles with lots of monsters in it without having to explain too much. The story overarching story is dumb and doesn't make much sense but it allows them to make good games so be it. So i understand why the show writers want to branch out and add more stuff, it wouldn't work as show otherwise. Interestingly the few games were the classic dracula isn't the focus (bloodlines, portrait of ruin, the sorrows, ecclesia) are the ones with the better stories and more varied level design.
They should have probably just made a bloodlines+portrait or aria+dawn series were the stories were already very different and interesting enough instead of completely reworking rondo and sotn only to piss off fans
