Yes, the repetitive level design of the struts and disarming all of the bombs got old very fast. The whole section with Emma was just irritating and the Metal Gear Ray fights were trolling.

I liked death stranding and thought it was an excellent game. I think the reason behind his fame is that people think he is absolutely insane and everything he does looks nuts but death stranding was literally just a funky sci-fi eurotruck simulator with ghosts, async coop, and collectable upgrades. The idea seemed insane to gamers but all of the important concepts (async coop, eurotruck simulator, horror/stealth elements) in death stranding has been done before and proven to be good. Death stranding is innovative sure, but its gameplay is extremely grounded and sensible, even if the presentation looks insane.
I think i want to play it again for a third time, but im doing my masters in comp sci and trying to be buff and i cant afford to be moronic with my time.
This is the correct perspective though. The gameplay was 10/10 and as someone relatively new to Kojima, I see why he's well liked. However, I also saw people acting like the story was the best thing since sliced bread which is what first post is talking about. He can take gameplay ideas that seem crazy and make it work, but not much else.

Death stranding looks insane and has a bizzare and overblown story, and even though that story was fully told it was still given a sequel. but gameplay wise its very grounded and technically competent. It has weighty movement, constant upgrades and new shit throughout the whole game and really good async coop elements. Its eurotruck on foot, motorcycle, or truck in a silly scifi world with ghosts and async multiplayer.

But if you tried to "correct" him by making it sound natural, it would ruin it all for him, because he just uses all the Western actors and aesthetics as window dressing because he thinks it looks cool.

I liked death stranding and thought it was an excellent game. I think the reason behind his fame is that people think he is absolutely insane and everything he does looks nuts but death stranding was literally just a funky sci-fi eurotruck simulator with ghosts, async coop, and collectable upgrades. The idea seemed insane to gamers but all of the important concepts (async coop, eurotruck simulator, horror/stealth elements) in death stranding has been done before and proven to be good. Death stranding is innovative sure, but its gameplay is extremely grounded and sensible, even if the presentation looks insane.
I think i want to play it again for a third time, but im doing my masters in comp sci and trying to be buff and i cant afford to be moronic with my time.
This is the correct perspective though. The gameplay was 10/10 and as someone relatively new to Kojima, I see why he's well liked. However, I also saw people acting like the story was the best thing since sliced bread which is what first post is talking about. He can take gameplay ideas that seem crazy and make it work, but not much else.

The revolutionary thing about death stranding is coupling a weird idea with insane budget and the kojima name, i think it's just an OK game otherwise.

Death stranding looks insane and has a bizzare and overblown story, and even though that story was fully told it was still given a sequel. but gameplay wise its very grounded and technically competent. It has weighty movement, constant upgrades and new shit throughout the whole game and really good async coop elements. Its eurotruck on foot, motorcycle, or truck in a silly scifi world with ghosts and async multiplayer.

So it's probably a result of him trying to write in a flowery/literary way in Japanese and just transliterating it with English words, except in English none of the metaphors make any fricking sense or sound anything like natural speech. But if you tried to "correct" him by making it sound natural, it would ruin it all for him, because he just uses all the Western actors and aesthetics as window dressing because he thinks it looks cool.
