Frick this boss. I fought him as a level 5 sorcerer doing a hit and run method. My best run I managed to hit him 23 times with firebolt. I finally gave up and cheated by RuneScape safespotting him with the stairs. Took 40 firebolts to kill

I'm pretty sure the butcher can open doors if they are in front of him.
No he cannot, he is just really fast so he will block the door from closing.
Its explained in the Butcher sidequest dialogue in town, that is the rest of Tristram.
I don't understand why Buther can't open doors. Generic mobs at lower levels can.
So you can kill him.
His giant ham-hands can only handle his cleaver (not a euphemism for his penis btw), they're too big for doorhandles.
He is too stupid for that. Someone else ties his apron up for him, that is how stupid he is.
When this game first came out, and I was 10 years old, that room seemed just crazy to me.
Ah, good times...
How can he have a room filled with bodies when the town above has something like 4 houses? Tristam has less than 12 inhabitants.
They were people from all over the country who came to try and save the prince

Really didn't understand why Blizzard decided to go this route.
The only scary moment in all Diablo games.
or is it?

Take me back.
In multiplayer, you can escape, or die. In single player, you're fricked if the catacombs spawn Deathspit or Chaoshowler in a long hallway.

Killed him with an axe in late March 1997.
