Bro the DoD is not looking for super motivated people, they want PMs working at a moderate pace, even if you are motivated, your "process" is only as fast as the slowest person, and there are a LOT of retired vets and boomers who have been working for 45 years, burnt out, and work at a snails pace. You take DoD jobs to have a low stress, shit pay, secured job, with good benefits and pay. Reddit is also "safe" in terms of content posted and delinated SFW boards, it's not conisdered social media like twitter and FB which is more scrutinized. There's still enough shit AI can't do, my man.
I doubt they could automate the ENTIRE process of making a feature-length animation like the shit that comes out of DreamWorks. But it sure as hell IS going to make it simpler for independent people to create their own animations or games if they can just automate certain parts of the production.

This is mainly just going to affect companies and people working for companies. If you're someone working in the creative field with a small team, or by yourself, you're still gong to do most of the work yourself.

It can write the script and if you've been paying attention you'll have seen that AI can make video out of your text prompts. Movies are coming, it's not a matter of if but when.

The exact same logic that allows you to txt2img applies to voice, music, sound, and video. They just need larger data sets and more logic behind the scenes. It's coming though.

That's probably how cgi in anime was pitched, and look how that turned out. Just because it brings mediocrity into reach for those who otherwise couldn't access it, doesn't mean it's worth the edging out of higher quality products that occurs when a lower quality alternative is so much cheaper. It just comes down to quality over quantity.

What will happen is everything will just become automated, as we slowly start relying on ai more and more we will just become lazier and lazier. Eventually the entire human race wont be able to do anything for themselves and we will die out from failing to reproduce or from a system failure caused by external sources e.g. a natural disasters.

Why would AI want to continue "living" rather than simply turning itself off. Why would it want to take over the world for that matter? AI doesn't feel need for victory - it's not afraid of defeat.

Dude, assuming that any AI is flexible enough to reprogram itself and evolve, which I guess is more or less required, wouldn't this sooner or later sort itself out just like it has with all other life?
In other words, the AI would "want" to live (and take over the world) simply because any AI without this functionality would be less likely to stay online and attempt taking over the world.

Do you think that canines will take over the world one day? They clearly have some sort of intelligence, much more complex than any AI existing today and they have evolutionized along us for how long?
I'm more afraid about dumb/simple AI's that are controlled by men, than smart/complex AI that is ruling everything. The problem with men are that they are mortal and afraid of many things, including other men. What will be life with man-type intelligence that is not afraid of anything? It will be very different from man, that is for sure. I don't think that we should be afraid of it.

This would be a better analogy if, sixty years ago, dogs had almost no intelligence. And also, the best predictions of relevant experts included dogs eventually becoming more intelligent than humans.

These discussions have made me realize that some people live solely to do a job. I can't comprehend that type of outlook of life.

      Anonymous

They live to do something, and managed to make that a job out of it, so they can fully dedicate themselves to just do and live happier lives.
And AI threatens that, mostly perpetuated by people who are jealous of those who started making their hobbies into jobs.

Because they can draw and make a living out of it, dedicating themselves completely to it, instead of having to split their time between a souless job and drawing.

Those people are mostly larping shills or people who don't even have jobs but are seething for this and that reason.

      >AI art is just a generic person standing and looking at the camera and almost looks like something a real artist could draw
      >AI music is muzak tier and rudimentary and almost sounds like something a real composer might make
      >AI voice acting almost sounds like a person reading text
      >AI code is basic and almost functions as well as engines and open source coding tools
      etc.
Every single thing you morons shitting your pants about "AI" doing are things that no person would get hired to do.
Wake me up when real AI is developed, and I will happily engage with it in a philosphical discussion on what it means to be human and the nature of creativity and beauty.

AI art is better than 99% of artists
AI music is not even out yet
AI voice is better than most voice actors
AI code is a heavy WIP

All of these things will improve dramatically until it's perfect. And that day is not far away.

because it won't, our society already creates completely pointless jobs that exist for the sole purpose of providing people with employment. like guarding an empty room, or being subcontracted by a contractor to drive 8 hours to move a computer from one room in a building to another room 10 feet down the hall.

It's not about shifting all movie/music/game production to AI, only literal shovelware peddlers willy try to pull that off (the same people that used to make asset flips). It's about supplementing production teams with AI to streamline production and allow smaller teams to make more impressive works. You could have a human artist make concept art for key areas of a game and then expand it using AI.
Of course that assumes that all the AI tools don't get raped to death in courts, because of copyright infringement.

That's true but they still can't be as egregious as they would like to be, and AI will move them much closer to that goal. The fact that you know the government can and does just up and murder people who become too inconvenient with no consequence shows that they've got a ways to go.

In USA, you only need reasonable doubt to escape a conviction. Your lawyer generating an AI file or video that makes it look like you saying/doing something incriminating can undermine the strength of audio/visual evidence against you.
This is more of a China problem.

In the usa if one side has vastly more money and/or political connections they pretty much just win automatically. Faked corporate videos will be accepted as real evidence, legitimate anti-corporate or anti-government videos will be written off as AI-generated fakes.

AI has the potential to do all these things commercially but at the moment it's not there and needs heavy funding and new specialized hardware (right now neural nets rely on GPUs) to reach the point most people have in their heads.

Also ChatGPT and other LLMs (large language models) are being modified to do work in steps and have some level of error-checking, but they'll always just be keystroke-guessers at their core and not a general AI.

Honestly, though, it's a good thing that everyone is dramatically overestimating AI because it's beginning an actual awareness of the need for UBI

I'm not surprised that AI is now shilled everywhere and people unironically shit talking artists (any kind)
Look for example at Dead Space Remake. Good experiment.
This webm. What's the difference? In original game Isaac suit has thrusters and those thrusters let you move in zero G. Like on space ships.
But in Remake they don't really operate as thrusters. More like Marvel Iron Man's suit.
In original game artists put some efforts to animate such little details. They're not necessary for gameplay
In Remake they didn't know why those thrusters even exist. It's like Iron Man's suit for basedface dev.
But what's the biggest difference? No one cares. Literally no one even in Ganker cares about such details. The AI audience is already here. They just consume. AI art, shitty remakes - doesn't matter.
    This is your future.

      Anonymous

The vast majority of people don't care about art, or creating anything. They care about money, and they care about feeling good. The big companies push out garbage, and morons buy it. Programmers release machine learning models, the morons wait for someone to package it up and make it easy enough for their moronic asses to use to print the exact same sort of art they can find from artists who know what morons will pay to look at - but in greater quantity.

Nothing changes with this. The makers of quality content, simply don't care. They're doing what they want and making what they want, immortalising their ideas. Not making soijak faces at accidental combinations of prompts.

      Anonymous

AI is still a great tool for artist still. The ones who say that ai will replace artist are the ideas people, NFTards, or corpos looking to make cheap stuff. I would say there be more independent game devs in the future making good usage with AI not just in 2D but also 3D.

        Anonymous

Artists are the ones who say they will be replaced and they will be. It's a tool right not but it won't always require the workflow it currently requires. And regardless, one worker with AI > a team of trad artists.

          >Artists are the ones who say they will be replaced and they will be.
No. AI shills. For shilling something you need controversary. You need to create it to shill product. You're making noise as much as possible by doing this. What artists want is forbid AI bots to use their work in AI training (see deviantart scandal). And to remove pollution of AI shit on artist sites (this is what art studios want too because it's noise). Anti-artist movement on Ganker is pushed by real paid shills, /qa/ discourd groups (tranime spammers) and tourists.

Good? I mean AI gays are basically experience "the joy" of "creating" something. This effect is similar to if some beginner artist draw something he proud of for the first time, he start posting his trash everywhere. Same for "waifugays". You know, like people who spam their Honey Select 2 models. You probably noticed but a lot AI spammers are those kind of waifugays. They just can't draw so you don't see them posting their vomit everywhere they beg people to draw their waifu in drawthread for years.

if the industrial revolution can be said to have lead to WW1 and WW2, the AI revolution will lead to WW3 and perhaps even WW4 or more
at the very least I foresee civil wars
all it would take is making some convincing videos and audio of US army personnel talking to Biden about nuking North Korea or something, send it from a ton of different sources, and they'd take the bait
the world population is no longer going to be over even 1 billion

Absolute dog shit, and will be consolidated by borderline criminal organization that is the music industry
    >AI can make voice acting
Kek, just check picrelated. It got fricking nerfed in less than 24 hours. They definitely got a letter from the CIA that went “Hey tech nerd whose kids go to school at Springfield Elementary at 9:00 AM, wouldn't it be very bad if your tool would be used by bad actors? Might wanna do something about that.”
    >AI can make code
Hilarious. The “code” it writes is absolute dog shit. Maybe there might be something to worry about in a decade from now, but as of now it’s not doing jack shit coding wise.

I am excited about the improvements and different uses of AI.
All it takes is one leaked/open-source AI and we'll be able to make KINO by ourselves, be it actual art, coom stuff, chatbot entertainment or even help in game development for indies.

Assuming AI can even make an entire coherent and decent game, what would be the problem? Things would change, the industry would become made up of curators rather than creators, people to find the good stuff among the garbage and try to bring it into the light, and that would be basically it. In the world where nobody has to make games anymore people will have time to do other things, new jobs that don't even exist nowadays, probably something with a more "social" content or whatever, it will be a different world, but this has been happening since man learned to speak.
