The actual double twist is that Mizuki is a daughter they had, but gave away, who wound up being experimented on by Chikara, and they unknowingly adopted her afterwards.
I wish it was something like Shoko wanting a designer baby so she went to Horadori for it so they were still related. Making her adopted is honestly the worst part of the game for me even if I still enjoyed it.
It's been many years since I played it but I thought the beatings were a more recent event related to the divorce. I feel like Renju still cared for her so giving her back probably wasn't on the cards. All that said it would've been much less moronic if she weren't adopted, but like many things Uchikoshi clearly started with the timeline twist and bent over backwards to try and make it work.
Well, Date is actually oddly professional despite his perversions. The only time he's really distracted completely from the case in the first game is on Iris' route and he's gone full schizo there. He's actually remarkably effective, he's just a dumbass. And Tama is similarly straightforward and professional, contrasted to Ryuki who's all about JUSTICE and whatnot.
I'd say that even while acting like a dumbass, Date remains pretty calculative in his head. Obviously he is pretty efficient and is very determined to actually solve his cases and keep digging no matter what. Likewise with Tama (obviously she is an Ai). They are on a pretty similar wavelength. As much as I'd like to see them partner up, Ryuki needs Tama and so do I.
Hopefully they give Date a worthy new partner in AI3, if Aiba stays with Mizuki.

Yea, even after Mizuki reunites with Date properly it doesn't feel as emotional as it should have been, considering Date is probably part of the reason she was so focused on the case.
They played a lot more into the "ace detective" concept of Date and neglected his personal relationships as a result. Which is totally backwards from what it should've been.

Lien and Kizuna really didn't feel natural at all, but it had its moments. The others I at least liked to some degree, although once again it's the buddy-cop romance which is best.

I kinda hate that "everyone has to be connected with everyone else". I understand that you have to be resourceful with your characters, but it felt too forced in this game. In AI1 it was more justified since it was personal vendetta against Date, but not in Nirvana.

Maybe it's because pure logic and number stuff comes easier to me, but they all seemed pretty straightforward to my eyes. I only really had to look at the shapes to realise the 3 becomes M becomes E thing. And every other puzzle was pretty straightforward numbers stuff or the wall shit.

Yeah, the AI Balls are a LITTLE out there, but relatively reasonable, Psync-ing is a good central "allowable basically supernatural gimmick" and body-swapping was just a good, simple twist.
I'll agree ZTD is the worst, but AI2 disappointed me way more. I didn't expect much from ZTD, I don't think anyone did. It was a miracle the game even ever existed.

oh no, playing it standalone it would've been even worse. it's kinda like AINI in that it tries to be newcomer-friendly despite being the next entry in a franchise, but ZTD did it even worse. it carries over a lot of shit from 999/VLR like morphogenetic field, shitting, and the reason for the returning cast to be in the game, but barely explains any of it, which is confusing for new players and frustrating for people who actially bought the game. but even with all the frick-ups it frequently reaches both so bad it's good territory (like the mastermind's entire monologue at the end, "don't worry, I won't die" and Eric's freakout around that time in general) and genuine greatness (like that fragment where Junpei gets decapitated and both of Diana's endings), so it's an extremely fun game either way (even if the resolution of the story is lame).

I'd say that even while acting like a dumbass, Date remains pretty calculative in his head. Obviously he is pretty efficient and is very determined to actually solve his cases and keep digging no matter what. Likewise with Tama (obviously she is an Ai). They are on a pretty similar wavelength. As much as I'd like to see them partner up, Ryuki needs Tama and so do I.
Hopefully they give Date a worthy new partner in AI3, if Aiba stays with Mizuki.

Mizuki was pretty cute throughout the story I just wish there were more moments of her and Date investigating together.
Date in general felt a little wasted. Like nobody besides Ryuki even seemed to care about him even after he showed back up after being gone for 6 years.
Yea, even after Mizuki reunites with Date properly it doesn't feel as emotional as it should have been, considering Date is probably part of the reason she was so focused on the case.
They played a lot more into the "ace detective" concept of Date and neglected his personal relationships as a result. Which is totally backwards from what it should've been.

Lien and Kizuna really didn't feel natural at all, but it had its moments. The others I at least liked to some degree, although once again it's the buddy-cop romance which is best.

I kinda hate that "everyone has to be connected with everyone else". I understand that you have to be resourceful with your characters, but it felt too forced in this game. In AI1 it was more justified since it was personal vendetta against Date, but not in Nirvana.

I think it was great and I actually appreciated the harder puzzles. But the spike in difficulty was crazy compared to anything else in the game.
Maybe it's because pure logic and number stuff comes easier to me, but they all seemed pretty straightforward to my eyes. I only really had to look at the shapes to realise the 3 becomes M becomes E thing. And every other puzzle was pretty straightforward numbers stuff or the wall shit.
I would just let Aiba solve it, then reload my save. It's funny how Aiba reacts to you entering the codes without even doing the puzzles.
She reacts too if you did the puzzle but didn't interact with the clues on the wall.

Maybe but only in the sense that you have no expectations. As a finale I was okay with it. I really don't think it was that much worse than others. Personally I like it more 999 because it's more entertaining even though the plot is a mess in comparison. The terrible, horrible presentation is what hurts it more than anything. It's rare for a game to be so ugly and low budget that it massively hurts the game.
oh no, playing it standalone it would've been even worse. it's kinda like AINI in that it tries to be newcomer-friendly despite being the next entry in a franchise, but ZTD did it even worse. it carries over a lot of shit from 999/VLR like morphogenetic field, shitting, and the reason for the returning cast to be in the game, but barely explains any of it, which is confusing for new players and frustrating for people who actially bought the game. but even with all the frick-ups it frequently reaches both so bad it's good territory (like the mastermind's entire monologue at the end, "don't worry, I won't die" and Eric's freakout around that time in general) and genuine greatness (like that fragment where Junpei gets decapitated and both of Diana's endings), so it's an extremely fun game either way (even if the resolution of the story is lame).

The explanation: More people knew him with Saito's face so he had a face mask of him made and he wears that. He's still the Date from the true end of the first game. They didn't want to hire another voice actor to voice the Falco version as well as the Saito version of him.
