Says the one that just made up that made up facts about mizuki's outfit. Frick off.
I feel like, for as important as Tokiko's meta-plan is, the fact that she just kinda does it makes it feel... Off? Like, how does she manage to make the player experience the right things in the right order?
who knows
for all we know she managed to mess with the world enough to cause it to appear out of order. there's a whole bunch of explanations that you could make
there might be more to it, like whatever the frick is behind Mama's fortunetelling
It's still just a bit eh to me, because unlike similar meta-twists it's something that pretty much solely affects the player. There's no real in-universe reaction to the twist because the twist doesn't exist in-universe.

I didn't replay it yet but is it not implied that ryuiki's perception of time was fricked because of the frayer?

There's a bit of that, but that feels more like a backfilled thing to explain his perception of time 'lining up' with the player's, is that he's just crazy.
I imagine this is why here skill is the nebulous "Prophecy". Essentilly she just knows because she does. If you want a less moronic explanation, it's possible when she tried to commit suicide she was granted a view of what was to-come somehow, all possible events in the simulation already having been pre-programmed in or something, but it's baseless specculation.
I don't even really follow how her plan even needs the perception trick to be uncovered to work. I don't even remember any dialogue implying she specifically is aware of how we experienced the narrative. Surely all she really needs is for (You) to bring back knowledge of the Nil number to Ryuki in the past?
Which further brings up "why is the twist even a thing diegetically", because it's not a twist that exists in-universe. Nobody learns anything from the twist except the player.

It entirely hinges on "what exactly is the Frayer in-universe?" And the follow-up question: "is there some reason why the Frayer is forced to experience the events of the game as they are?". Which is why I'm looking forward to AI3 being the ZTD of the series and shitting the bed in a comical fashion.
Uru, her obsessed, super-genius son, who can fully comprehend quantum mechanics, is the creator of the meta-plan. It's so strange that people overlook Uru's genius and ascribe his feats to Tokiko instead.

Does the JP text also have that "without getting too deep into the backstory" bit? That sounds like it's supposed to be the version that loads for the non-spoiler mode, so maybe the appendix entry is bugged in English.

It’s changed from “without going into detail on (exact quotes from Date)” but it’s there.

He shit up the last one by posting this "hurrr not in the game" shit too and claimed that the appendix doesn't count because you don't have to read it.

I know nothing about the game this thread is about and was guided here by my penis, but am now interested. How does this tie into Ever17?
He just recycled the twists from Ever17 complete with using unaging characters and a secret clone to trick the player, except there's no reason to the trick in this game and it's completely unrelated to the mystery.
Playing AI2 ruins Ever17 for people who haven't played it yet.

Ding ding! Right again!
One last question! Who is the last boss a reference to? Something about wings I dare say!?
Uchikoshi said in a Famitsu interview some years back that the annihilation route would end with Date still beating Saito, but being stuck in Boss' body.
So Boss Date as as adoptive mother to two Mizukis?
Who the frick plays VNs with english dubs anyway?
I refuse to believe Ganker has many who do ideally you'd want to avoid subs or translation altogether, but y'all are lazy
People who want to actually play attention in genres where it matters, unlike JRPGs where 90% of the dialogue is irrelevant and characters as individuals are more important, and don't want incomprehensible gibberish in their ears.
That's why learning japanese is best.
I'm still of the opinion that subtitles despite being a shit solution are still better than dubs which fundamentally change core aspects of a given work.
I remember being weirded out by the concept of localization since the whole point of foreign media to me was the foreign aspect.
I agree that for the most part subs > dubs always, but AI:TSF’s english version is superior in basically every way. Listening to scenes like the conversation with Hitomi in Annihilation, or Saito and Falco’s standoff during the climax of resolution, and the English performances are just levels above the Japanese ones in terms of emotion and intent.
I think the Japanese version is better. The english scene has some standout awful scenes like when Iris dies in the left route and Hitomi's VA can't act out crying for shit or any of the fricking song sequences being ear cancer (though translating songs are always going to be a kick in the dick for anyone with the unenviable task).
I guess I'd be more up in the air if I didn't understand japanese since the dub to AI:TSF /is/ good. Which is baffling now since I feel a lot of the new characters in Nirvana Initiative miss the mark
Really? I thought Hitomi’s performance was good. I agree English has some weak points whereas Japanese is solid all the way through (with the exception of the same VA voicing both Saito and Falco - he’s not talented enough to make them sound different enough) but English has stuff like Greg Chun and Allegra Clark as Saito, both of which are great in that role.
not him but she's good for almost sounding like she's crying, but when she actually cries it's horrible, I played the first game with eng voices and the moment she hugged Date and started to cry, my whole investment on that scene fell apart because of that awful crying. At least it was right at the end
The Japanese version is better. There's a bunch of characters like Iris who just sound terrible in English, and even the best ones come nowhere close to the worst of the Japanese voice actors. Sounds like you just have bias from not understanding Japanese.
I always play games and enjoy media in its original language if possible. Maybe burgers and other monolingual English users (aka the vast majority of this site) are more receptive to dubs because that’s what they were used to growing up but I’m an ESL so I had to use subs since I was a kid.
>ideally you'd want to avoid subs or translation altogether, but y'all are lazy
I'll have you know that I was traumatized by being filtered by ロープウェイ in Danganronpa V3
I can't be the only one who consumes plenty of jap media in dub but absolutely goes the sub route for this series. I feel like it's one of the cases where actually hearing some of the dialogue in english would completely turn me off + I feel like everyone pulls their weight for the most part in terms of voice acting. I don't even want to imagine any of the musical numbers in fricking english.
>I don't even want to imagine any of the musical numbers in fricking english.
I'm an extreme subgay but those were cheesy enough that I wasn't bothered that much when the first game's ending bugged out and it's in english even if you chose japanese audio
I usually go JAP but I went Eng for Danganronpa and this game. Which is weird because the first game, I DID do Japanese. but when I saw clips, I notice the English wasn't bad, so I tried it this time.

>I don't even want to imagine any of the musical numbers in fricking english.
They're worse than you think. They're so bad that people cope with it by saying the Japanese songs are bad for sounding good and Iris is supposed to sing badly because she's a streamer.
I thought it was fine. Once you go back and reread scenes in order a lot of his schizo moments weren't even that. Makes you appreciate their relationship a lot more too.
I think Saito was a decent villain. He was a bit simplistic but he served his purpose well, and was pretty menacing in the Annihilation/Resolution routes. Tearer and Tokiko on the other hand just feel kinda bleh.
I enjoyed Saito quite a lot. The whodunnit aspect of AI1 before the body swap was revealed felt a lot more satisfying than clearly guilty random side-character doing it for revenge
>Tearer and Tokiko on the other hand just feel kinda bleh.
It wouldn't have been so bad if they weren't already dead in the true route and you are essentially just wrapping up lose ends to stop a plot already in motion with no driver left in the seat. Felt pretty anticlimactic compared to AI1.
it also doesn't help that the climax of the game is just a cartoonish fight scene, which were used almost exclusively for humor in the first game, as opposed to something that better wraps up the actual character arcs
Saito, Kumakura boss, and So in the first game were perfectly fine.
It's mostly AI 2 that has a serious issue with its villains. Uru is fricking awful, Chikara is barely present and most of his shit is just told in flashbacks, and Tokiko is boring as frick and only exists to infodump her cult's propaganda until the 5 minutes at the end where it's suddenly revealed that she planned out and expected everything.
I thought Tokiko was good. All the bits of info scattered across the game build her up bit by bit. Her being taken advantage of by Chikara, attempting suicide due to guilt, that she found salvage in Naix' ideology and spread it to people who were in despair similar to how she'd been and the fact that you see the effect that has on characters like Shoma. That coupled with the fact she really just wanted to achieve personal Moksha and ultimately bets on you winning and Uru losing makes her feel more neutral than evil. Most of what goes on with her was in the background sure but I thought it suit her and was fine like that.
I like Tokiko, because she is a cold b***h that is absolutely logical and methodological about everything, given that her believes are spot on.
>this world is a game with branching paths, frayed by a frayer that wants to reach the true ending >manipulates obsessed with her freak into a smokescreen plan, when the frayer is guaranteed to be able to stop them >tricks frayer with 'Dahlia Boat' into believing that impossible to obtain knowledge from different timelines advances them forward >twists frayer's perception of timelines, both to increase their curiosity, and to make the frayer experience her at her most schizo more than half the game ago >smokescreen plan still causes damage to frayer's beloved characters, leaving the frayer unsatisfied after stopping it >tricks heroes and the frayer to just roll with LGBTQ+ token character being able to provide useful information, making them rely on them >uses said LGBTQ+ token character to lead the frayer towers her trap >wins due to the frayer not being able to stop themselves and see through this all
Sure, from the POW or Ruiki and Mizukis she is boring with no personality. But I like her plan.
>Signs up to be a guarantor for random people, plunging his family into debt >Refuses to get a real job to pay of debt, chooses to borrow from yakuza and then run guns for them instead >Response to seeing a corpse is to steal it and try to blackmail the murderer >Makes his daughter cover up for him >Despite all his daughter does for him "MY SON IS ALL I HAVE"
He was a good character in Ryuki's route.
Then Mizuki's happens and all the bullshit gets revealed and it shits all over every single character in the game, including him.
Well here's something for you then, I don't know if you're familiar with Kris-V but I'm getting a short story involving Date and Mizuki and seeing as how there's no cards currently for either of them he'll probably make some cards himself, if he doesn't release the cards publicly I'll probably rip from the scene depending on the quality or commission some myself, believe me when it comes to coom, I am very dedicated.
>they actually explained why Mizuki is a super soldier
I was hoping it stayed a mystery, honestly. The thought even crossed my head given the reaction of Riichi but I thought that would be too stupid.
ever since Zero Time Dilemma came out it made replaying VLR terrible because you know the plot leads to nowhere and it ends on a To Be Continued that forces you to finish ZTD to get a conclusion
Skis in Boss' room references Kamaitachi no Yoru but I'm pretty sure they did that in the 1st game too. In Uru's somnium the code for the red room is 215.
a reference to Hotel Dusk
Tokiko's hijinks was the only thing I liked about the game. That and the escape rooms. Somnium feels like padding and action sequences are god awful.
The main trick is not as lame as AI1 but still whatever.
I don't care much about the "they look exactly the same" thing considering they are clones and probably consciously chose the same outfit and hairstyles, but I wouldn't have minded if she had different hair but had Aiba be like "why did you not style your hair today" and Bibi would respond "I didn't feel like it"

>I heard AI1 flopped and 2 only got finished because it was already in development
this is untrue.
I read it here a couple of days ago. That's why I asked
Literally the opposite, AI1 was such a hit that they badly threw together AI2 which is full of nonsense retcons and pointless carryovers from the first game to the point that they had to fill it with messages going "THIS IS FROM THE LAST GAME IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS CASE DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT".
It doesn't just contradict AI1 but also explanations that the writer had in interviews more recently so it seems that they only came up with it maybe 2 years ago.
It's been three years so I don't remember shit, what did they retcon apart from Boss having a daughter? I guess Date got his original body back at the end of 1 but I'm not sure
Mizuki being adopted even though Shoko literally said she wished she never gave birth to her and Uchikoshi saying in interviews that she's so strong because she inherited her grandfather's genes.
she doesn't say that, she says "I wish you'd never been born" which can be applied to mean "you are a genetically modified monster, you shouldn't be alive"
If that's what the English version said then it's the shit localization changing things for no reason.
The line in Japanese is "I wish I never gave birth to you" which is such a huge contradiction that AI2 had to include a scene where Mizuki gets confused while recalling it and just concludes "maybe she was just talking wrong".

Uchikoshi confirmed that Date only watched porn when Aiba was sleeping in her charger which is why she never freaked out on him until he directly asked her to beam VR porn into his head
I still find it funny how the potential family of Date, Hitomi, Mizuki and Iris has zero blood relations between anybody in it. Found family seems to be kinda ridiculously common in AI.
Watching porn together would've take their relationships on a new level, Aiba still haven't realized that she's a wife material. She has a thing or two to learn from Tama.
Happened on the 14th(which you see from Bibi's POV). Ryuki tells he was contacted by someone with information for the case and needs to go meet them. Then later when Ryuki shoots her in the warehouse and she wink psyncs him you see how the meeting went down.
Ryuki encountered Tearer in the Cathedral, and walked right into his trap that deactivated Tama and knocked him out.
I feel like, for as important as Tokiko's meta-plan is, the fact that she just kinda does it makes it feel... Off? Like, how does she manage to make the player experience the right things in the right order?
>Like, how does she manage to make the player experience the right things in the right order?
Ryuki was targeted during his sleep right before the chronological start of the game. Messing with Ryuki allowed to mess with the player.
>how she could know about Ryuki first player character
The entire quiz show was most likely set up by Naix. Boss' friend dragged her there, and then ditched her on the last minute, making Boss picked whatever ABIS agent. I can accept that Naix knows nature of the game enough to tell that the first ABIS agent near the body discovery will be the player character, because that's how it was in the first game.
Nah, mame at the cathedral was in the present timeline
He first met tearer there, you can see it in the wink psync after he shoots bibi in the past timeline
Those were two separate encounters there, during different points of time.
That feels like a stretch, and it doesn't explain the viewing of Mizuki and Bibi. It's... I dunno, it feels like a twist for the sake of a twist and so many things suffer from it, whereas nothing's really gained.
>That feels like a stretch, and it doesn't explain the viewing of Mizuki and Bibi. It's... I dunno, it feels like a twist for the sake of a twist and so many things suffer from it, whereas nothing's really gained.
It's a SF Mystery. Uchikoshi picked simulation theory as the main SF concept, to explain branching paths the first game had, without having morphogenetic fields all over again.
And then he ran with the concept. But yes, how Tokiko exactly can do things remains mystery, beyond "she knows this a game, and she can manipulate it to a some degree".
That feels like a stretch, and it doesn't explain the viewing of Mizuki and Bibi. It's... I dunno, it feels like a twist for the sake of a twist and so many things suffer from it, whereas nothing's really gained.
Well speaking of requests I've already put in two Date/Mizuki ones and I'm tempted to put one or two more but I guess if you're taking free requests how bout Bibi and Mizuki burning Date's porn mags together?
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand AI2. The twists are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of Ancient Indian philosophy most of the twists will go over the
typical players head. There's also Tokkio's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into her characterisation- her personal philosophy draws heavily from buddhist literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of the twists, to realize that it's not just funny- it says something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike AI2 truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Date's existential catchphrase "PORNO MAG!," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Uchikoshi's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them
Gen's whole stuff with naix was kinda strange
The first half of the game was always giving hints of him getting manipulated by their philosophy but then it just led to nothing
So what I'm getting at after reading the whole thing about 6 captives is
>Iris and five others are Frayers which allows them to see and observe info between worlds or some shit >This explains Iris's random bullshit being right (Knowing about Naix, and immortality) this means her saying the wadjet system wants to expand across the universe, she could have been actually meaning timelines. >If that is the case the Wadjet system works similar to Delta's computer in ZTD and can at times transfer info rather than SHIFT and that explains weird shit never being explained like, Date remembering stuff that was said in the Iris route in the epilogue, Ryuki remembering "Dahlia" despite never hearing that name in that timeline, Date's somnia appearing in mizuki's memories during the reverse psync even though that happened in Mizuki route and lastly Miziku and Bibi being able to remember the last fight happening but not completely in the Frayer golden ending
then how come it's the humans remembering that shit and not the Ai balls? They're the ones that are actually part of the Wadjet system and, going further, are the ones that we as the Frayer actually use in the Sonmiums to interact with to change the timelines. They (at least act like they) don't remember shit
Aiba remembers Mizuki's definition of family which she never brought up during the true route so she might also have some residual memories from other timelines
if you let ryuki capture you during his somnium he reverse psyncs again and two of the location he psyncs into is
The bird cages from mizuki's somnium and you find the broken picture aiba puts back together, which doesn't happen in the true end route
the scene where mizuki has to choose between her choko and renju or Date which only happens in her route.
So deep inside mizuki's mind are somnium memories that shouldn't exist in the current timeline.

NOOOOOO I DON'T WANT TO TEAR THE SEAMS
AIBA SAVE ME AIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIE
Well, I guess I'll just have to wait and hope SC do something about the crash quick.

Man, outside of Mizuki, Date, and technically Amame, it feels like the rest of the returning characters exist solely to bloat the game with extra dialogue, given that none of them actually contribute to the overarching plot in any meaningful way.
The first game did a pretty solid job at giving almost all of its characters at least something to do, so it sorta sticks out when you could remove half of them this time around and have almost nothing change.
Iris, Ota, and Boss are the only ones that were outright required for their connections. Hitomi could have just been referenced given how little she does in the actual game, while Moma, Pewter, and Mama could be written out entirely with the only necessary change being how the plot twist is explained to the player.
And even then it surely wouldn't have been too difficult to give the remaining three something to do besides Iris arbitrarily getting a concussion as an excuse to go into her somnium. Though I suppose they backed themselves into a corner somewhat by giving the former two timeskip designs and thus locking them out of 75% of the game
what happens if you guess Tearer's name in your first go?
would you be able to play as Mizuki from the go? is it even possible to beat the game like that?
I wish there were more vns like this.
The small addition of needing to click around on stuff and move location helps keep me engaged. The fact it's 3d and fully animated helps as well.
150k in the west from best estimates, and like complete shit in Japan except for one really good pixiv artist in Japan as per the usual for Uchikoshi games
AI Ball that makes you see fake evidence using holograms or something
Omniscient AI (Wadjet System) goes insane after realizing its stuck in a game. Turns what would have been Uchikoshi's greatest work to total shit, in order to piss off the Frayer.
Honestly as someone who immediatly tought of pic related when first playing Somnium Files, it would be pretty funny if they actually followed up on the parallels.
Omniscient AI (Wadjet System) goes insane after realizing its stuck in a game. Turns what would have been Uchikoshi's greatest work to total shit, in order to piss off the Frayer.
I believe the USA bit, if only cause after being all "our world doesn't have a Liberty Island" in 2 I can see them being cheeky c**ts and having 3 open on Liberty Island or have the climax be there
>AI3 will be such a fricking cringefest human organisms will treat it as a near-death experience that directly endangers you, unleashing thousands of prayers and shifters upon the world
Do not get it twisted, do not fray. Do not start fraying. Fraying is entertainment and entertainment only. You won't break even, you won't reach moksha. You won't do any of that, you understand? You will only get split in half and ruin your fricking life.
if that whole she's a frayer which is how she knew so much shit in the first game/how so many of her crazy theories in the first game turned out to be right in the second game thing turns out to correct, she may be intentionally fricking with us like Tokiko did.
Notice how her present-day bodysuit is a lot like Tokiko's?
>she's a frayer I was under the impression that Frayers are entirely separate entities from the actual people in the game's world itself. Maybe Iris had a Frayer feeding her information, but she isn't one herself.
These threads are filled with too many morons that spread misinformation either deliberately either out of sheer idiocy. The guy who thinks Zero Escape invented escape rooms, the guy who thinks Frayer and people who can see tears are the same, when even Tokiko immediately makes distinction between Ryuki and Frayer.
>another parent-child bullshit that needs resolving
First game, it was fine, it was touching. I didn't need another.
Though seeing the boy laugh and smile was nice.
>Tama
I had mixed feelings. Liked her sex appeal and the jokes but eh, I just like the original so much more.
To be fair, the parent-child issues in the first game were at least a little different. This game was more about a frick-up father seeking redemption whilst the last was about a frick-up son.
I feel like Tokiko ultimately only half won. She ascended but considering she's not here in front of us right now, that must mean wherever she appeared is another simulation underneath our own. Maybe there's no such thing as ascending but rather you move horizontally between simulations.
Date should've died or atleast been taken captive or tortured during the timeskip. It's so cheap that he just escaped and lost his memories for 6 years.
Worked on me, but less so than the first. I think I'd have liked it about the same but they really overplayed it during the game itself. There's something like 4-5 times that dance occurs even before the finale.
>time to fight bad guys >Do the QTE >"oh no, they're back" >repeat
Why. They did this at LEAST four times.
Even the finale is: we beat them, then we gotta do it again, and beat them again with MORE people.
Dear god.
I don't mind they existing but the issue is that we literally win, and they just stand up again and we do it again.
Cut the number down and their length.
the final dance in Japanese was boring because it felt like a weird overproduced musical
the final dance in English was memorably fun cringe because it sounded like a bunch of people who have no experience singing trying to help their friend who can do an impromptu musical number
I love video games! Playing video games is the greatest past-time mankind has ever created, and, what's more, we're living in a golden age of video game creation! Rejoyce, Gankerrothers, and play some fricking games!
>Uchikoshi goes through with his idea of making the next game take place in America >Date and 18 year old Mizuki are deployed there to solve a crazy mystery that makes no sense >Eventually return to Japan and see two milf Mizukis >Date takes off his mask to reveal his face is covered in wrinkles >3rd Mizuki was another clone >Whole game took place decades in the future where you were a wrinkly old man the whole time >mfw
I know they didn't want to spoil much from the first game but it is still feels a miss opportunity that they didn't really touch on anything body swap wise since it is a major part of the psync tech.
I like to think if they ever paired up their horny would cancer each other out and they wouldn't make a single lewd remark the whole time.
Would they be into each other?
I feel like they'd say the most despicable horny shit, but they wouldn't feel anything towards each other. Like best buds partners in crime. They would unironically ,most likely, be super effective together.
Date would just have a passive Tama-supplied beam of porn in a tiny corner of his vision at all times and become superhuman.
>What's with the statue of liberty stuff?
To differentiate between the AI (simulation) world and real world, and maybe foreshadowing for Gen and Ryuki.
>why did Tokiko kill herself
It's part of her plot to get the frayer to notice
>why did Uru call himself Dahlia Boat in various ends
It's part of Tokiko's plot to get the frayer to fray the world. The name itself is an anagram of Ialdabaoth, the false god that created the world and binds souls to their material bodies.
>why did nobody mention an older Mizuki existing to her younger sister
Because it's stupid to assume that someone you see now is a clone or relative just because they resemble someone you think is unrelated to them that you saw six years ago.
>why does Date have Saito’s face and voice
Meta: To prevent spoilers for AI1.
In-game: See the explanation for face. As for the voice, Date (89) and Saito always had the same voice (actor) in Japanese, the shitty localization just gave them two different voice actors.

Says the one that just made up that made up facts about mizuki's outfit. Frick off.
here are the 3 most important answers i don't care enough to answer the other ones
>Notice what? How does that help her?
notice there was no way to give her the nil number without fraying back to when she was alive
>How does that help her plan?
it helps her by forcing the frayer to go back and tell Ryuki something he can't possible know
>Not said anywhere
WAAAH I CAN'T MAKE INFERENCES BASED ON CONTEXT. IF A GAME DOESN'T 100% SPELL OUT THE ANSWER EVERY TIME IT'S WRONG
I feel like, for as important as Tokiko's meta-plan is, the fact that she just kinda does it makes it feel... Off? Like, how does she manage to make the player experience the right things in the right order?
who knows
for all we know she managed to mess with the world enough to cause it to appear out of order. there's a whole bunch of explanations that you could make
It's still just a bit eh to me, because unlike similar meta-twists it's something that pretty much solely affects the player. There's no real in-universe reaction to the twist because the twist doesn't exist in-universe.
I didn't replay it yet but is it not implied that ryuiki's perception of time was fricked because of the frayer?
There's a bit of that, but that feels more like a backfilled thing to explain his perception of time 'lining up' with the player's, is that he's just crazy.
>literally admitting it's all headcanon
there might be more to it, like whatever the frick is behind Mama's fortunetelling
It's a very handwave-y explanation for something that is a pretty big part of the game.
Maybe another Frayer gave her some hints?
Uru, her obsessed, super-genius son, who can fully comprehend quantum mechanics, is the creator of the meta-plan. It's so strange that people overlook Uru's genius and ascribe his feats to Tokiko instead.
>Super-genius son
>Entirely foiled by one random waitress
Do you not know what notice means?
>>How does that help her plan?
>it helps her by forcing the frayer to go back and tell Ryuki something he can't possible know
Still irrelevant, all she needed was the nil number

>WAAAH I CAN'T MAKE INFERENCES BASED ON CONTEXT. IF A GAME DOESN'T 100% SPELL OUT THE ANSWER EVERY TIME IT'S WRONG
Schizo meltdown, nice. Funny how you would have pulled the "actually play the game" card, but since I called you out on making up that mizuki's outfit is Avis issued you couldn't anymore.
Yes, if it's not mentioned in the game it's literally headcanon
>here are the 3 most important answers i don't care enough to answer the other ones
Well that was weak. More like you have no explanation at all for the others, you even had to resort to a schizo meltdown for the last one. You're literally headcanoning any plot hole
>Notice what? How does that help her?
it causes the frayer to fray the world allowing her to moksha, brainlet

Only the people who actually know her call her Mizuki, she never names herself when talking to Shoma and Lien and Moma know her as Quartz, brainlet
The timeskip is six years, only a brainlet like you would assume that someone would look at someone and recall that someone they saw six years ago looked like that and immediately jump to the conclusion that it must be a clone

It's literally written in the appendix. You didn't play the game.
>Not said anywhere
We literally had this in the last thread. It's appendix #82. You must have just watched some vtuber who never opened the files. Stop whining about the game until you actually play it, moron.
Nice try, but it only says it's a backup, not that it was upgraded
>Not said anywhere
Appendix 82, brainlet
You're not worth the rest
Appendix 82 clearly states
>Psyncギア(目の前に装着する部分)には改良が施され、現在はABIS本部の装置と同じ方法でPsyncできるようになっている。
>The psync gear (the part covering the eyes) have been upgraded so that one can psync in the same way as the device in the ABIS HQ
You didn't play the game.
Sorry for not being a weeb
If they couldn't move it why would you assume they could modify it? If they can change parts they may as well be able to dismantle it to its bare minumums.
Either way. the other 6 points still stand
>Nothing I do, even a fresh JP Windows partition, will boot the game in Japanese
>Replacing the text files doesn't work because the fonts obviously don't load
At this point it'll probably be faster to just download the Switch version and run through it to personally verify something totally pointless, though I'm also curious if any other appendix pages are incomplete in English.
Is appendix 82 incomplete in English?
This is with spoilers on
that's not incomplete? the fact that it says "It serves as a back-up" comes with the implication that the downsides were removed and it was upgraded
remind them of challnge against the marco
Yeah that's terribly incomplete. The Japanese text also states the reason why they decided to keep it (Psync装置は莫大な国費を投じて制作されたもの。全壊ともなれば、恐ろしいほどの損害が生じることになる)
The localization really is a pile of shit, huh.
Why would you use it as a backup and not fix it
>posts screenshots of someone else's steam page
you still didn't play the game
read appendix 82
Get better material
Are you frickers seriously getting baited by this same moron from the last thread?
He shit up the last one by posting this "hurrr not in the game" shit too and claimed that the appendix doesn't count because you don't have to read it.
Literally not the same guy and said what the appendix says in the post you're replying to. Learn to read
>Should I play Ever17
I know nothing about the game this thread is about and was guided here by my penis, but am now interested. How does this tie into Ever17?
This is a new VN written by Koutarou Uchikoshi and Nakazawa Takumi, both lead writers of E17.
It’s doesn’t directly. It’s just that uchikoshi reuses a lot of twists from his previous games.
This is made by the writer of Ever17.
He just recycled the twists from Ever17 complete with using unaging characters and a secret clone to trick the player, except there's no reason to the trick in this game and it's completely unrelated to the mystery.
Playing AI2 ruins Ever17 for people who haven't played it yet.
Who is F?
The secret villain from Iris's psync?
Did you play the first game?
Yes
oh Captain Falcon?
Ding ding! You're right!
Can you guess what other nintendo game did Iris's somnium reference? This one's tricky!~
I didn't care to do all of them. It was worded that I wasn't sure it was a metareference or an ACTUAL character in the game
I didn't even go for Monokuma.
Also technically, Pokemon would answer your question
Ding ding! Right again!
One last question! Who is the last boss a reference to? Something about wings I dare say!?
a captain from nintendo racing games, they had to censor him due to copyright
it's a spoiler for the first game..
Date's real appearance. First game plot twist revolves around people switching bodies.
also the F is a reference to Falco that was his code name.
also his weakness is porno mags
Ah, I'm moronic. I actually was expecting him to show up there too
Why does the voice changer have a lock on it?
why does japan love to use x for a k sound? like naixatloz being naikatloz or texhnolyze being texhnolyze.
Licking Aiba's soles
Uchikoshi said in a Famitsu interview some years back that the annihilation route would end with Date still beating Saito, but being stuck in Boss' body.
So Boss Date as as adoptive mother to two Mizukis?
If 3 does parallel worlds like the hidden bats thing suggests this should be a thing
Who the frick plays VNs with english dubs anyway?
I refuse to believe Ganker has many who do
ideally you'd want to avoid subs or translation altogether, but y'all are lazy
Listening to scenes like the conversation with Hitomi in Annihilation, or Saito and Falco’s standoff during the climax of resolution, and the English performances are just levels above the Japanese ones in terms of emotion and intent.
moron EOP
Hitomi sounds bad in english.
most people who play Nirvana Initiative. this is one series where the majority does
I always play games and enjoy media in its original language if possible. Maybe burgers and other monolingual English users (aka the vast majority of this site) are more receptive to dubs because that’s what they were used to growing up but I’m an ESL so I had to use subs since I was a kid.
me i play in english
>ideally you'd want to avoid subs or translation altogether, but y'all are lazy
I'll have you know that I was traumatized by being filtered by ロープウェイ in Danganronpa V3
>I went Eng for Danganronpa
Jesus christ how horrifying
Don't care.
DR2 Eng was fine and I prefer Japanese. Quit being a weeb homosexual.
>Quit being a weeb homosexual.
I cannot unsee over 800 titles and over 30 VNs
same, Spike games are usually better in English in my opinion
I kinda want an AI-ball.
>waifu
Those are Peppers (explicitly a boy) in drag, homosexual
Nah that thing is something else entirely.
sex with Bibi
I can't be the only one who consumes plenty of jap media in dub but absolutely goes the sub route for this series. I feel like it's one of the cases where actually hearing some of the dialogue in english would completely turn me off + I feel like everyone pulls their weight for the most part in terms of voice acting. I don't even want to imagine any of the musical numbers in fricking english.
>I don't even want to imagine any of the musical numbers in fricking english.
They're worse than you think. They're so bad that people cope with it by saying the Japanese songs are bad for sounding good and Iris is supposed to sing badly because she's a streamer.
Seconding. AI is too fricking japanese. Even ZE is more west-friendly.
ebin
>and 30 minutes it's revealed that the statue of limitations was 3 years ago
Honestly that whole ending was meh and forced drama, at least it's small.
The ai-balls better be getting human bodies in the next game. I need to see Ryuki and Tama hug.
Shoma will do it.
Ryuki and Tama deserved more love. Especially Ryuki. They do him pretty dirty from the point you start playing as the Mizukis.
I thought it was fine. Once you go back and reread scenes in order a lot of his schizo moments weren't even that. Makes you appreciate their relationship a lot more too.
For me, it's seam-breaking sex with Tokiko.
This series is lacking in good villains
Full agree
Amami being the new killer is nothing special
I like Tokiko, because she is a cold b***h that is absolutely logical and methodological about everything, given that her believes are spot on.
>this world is a game with branching paths, frayed by a frayer that wants to reach the true ending
>manipulates obsessed with her freak into a smokescreen plan, when the frayer is guaranteed to be able to stop them
>tricks frayer with 'Dahlia Boat' into believing that impossible to obtain knowledge from different timelines advances them forward
>twists frayer's perception of timelines, both to increase their curiosity, and to make the frayer experience her at her most schizo more than half the game ago
>smokescreen plan still causes damage to frayer's beloved characters, leaving the frayer unsatisfied after stopping it
>tricks heroes and the frayer to just roll with LGBTQ+ token character being able to provide useful information, making them rely on them
>uses said LGBTQ+ token character to lead the frayer towers her trap
>wins due to the frayer not being able to stop themselves and see through this all
Sure, from the POW or Ruiki and Mizukis she is boring with no personality. But I like her plan.
>Signs up to be a guarantor for random people, plunging his family into debt
>Refuses to get a real job to pay of debt, chooses to borrow from yakuza and then run guns for them instead
>Response to seeing a corpse is to steal it and try to blackmail the murderer
>Makes his daughter cover up for him
>Despite all his daughter does for him "MY SON IS ALL I HAVE"
who the frick likes this square-headed butthole?
>Despite all his daughter does for him "MY SON IS ALL I HAVE"
she did kind of leave him
He was a good character in Ryuki's route.
Then Mizuki's happens and all the bullshit gets revealed and it shits all over every single character in the game, including him.
Mizuki's route was a mistake.
Pozzed crap
do we have a koikatsu card of her yet
i will only accept positive answers
Well here's something for you then, I don't know if you're familiar with Kris-V but I'm getting a short story involving Date and Mizuki and seeing as how there's no cards currently for either of them he'll probably make some cards himself, if he doesn't release the cards publicly I'll probably rip from the scene depending on the quality or commission some myself, believe me when it comes to coom, I am very dedicated.
since you are a dedicated coomer, has anybody made a card of ash from fire emblem heroes?
the cute cow.
Nope, nothing for yet, though seeing as how Fire Enblem has alot more supporters I'm sure someone will make one.
For me?
It's sex with boss
sex with Bibi and Boss
>they actually explained why Mizuki is a super soldier
I was hoping it stayed a mystery, honestly. The thought even crossed my head given the reaction of Riichi but I thought that would be too stupid.
This was my huge issue. The first game explains everything BUT this. It's trying to be 'realistic' but leaves this?
I really hope if they make a 3rd AI they dont pull a ZTD and retroactively ruin the ones that came before
ever since Zero Time Dilemma came out it made replaying VLR terrible because you know the plot leads to nowhere and it ends on a To Be Continued that forces you to finish ZTD to get a conclusion
>psychelocks
>that 999 somnium
Any other cool VN references?
Skis in Boss' room references Kamaitachi no Yoru but I'm pretty sure they did that in the 1st game too.
In Uru's somnium the code for the red room is 215.
a reference to Hotel Dusk
Oh snap. What does 299 reference then?
It was 229
Tokiko's hijinks was the only thing I liked about the game. That and the escape rooms. Somnium feels like padding and action sequences are god awful.
The main trick is not as lame as AI1 but still whatever.
Cute how much she loves her.

So is the meta stuff supposed to be a sequel bait? I heard AI1 flopped and 2 only got finished because it was already in development
>I heard AI1 flopped and 2 only got finished because it was already in development
this is untrue.
moron
uh anon that's not how games work
if a game flopped they wouldn't waste even more money on development and marketing and voice acting for new characters (VA comes late in development) just so a game can flop again
did you hear that from the voices in your head?
Mizuki's birth
It probably has to do with "I wish I never gave birth to you" sounds really bad in english
>shit localization
"I wish I never gave birth to you" is stupid english and doesn't make sense
"I wish you were never born" is not only more natural sounding but it's a lot more hurtful because it implies that she was a mistake and shouldn't exist
>make it sound better even if it's wrong
the absolute state of EOPs, you deserve what you get
>Literal translations all the time, even if it sounds like shit or makes no sense

>jerking off to your semi-step-daughter
Damn Date
I still find it funny how the potential family of Date, Hitomi, Mizuki and Iris has zero blood relations between anybody in it. Found family seems to be kinda ridiculously common in AI.
Hopefully she wasn't in his "adultery" videos too.
According to 1, those are animal NTR videos. Date seriously what the FRICK
DATE A FURRY?
It's, uh, husbandry videos, you just read that wrong
Mixing up my terms, at least I didn't mix it up with "Cuckoldry" or something like that though. Date would never watch such a thing.
>forcing Aiba to watch hot girls destroying spherical objects
That's even worse
Watching porn together would've take their relationships on a new level, Aiba still haven't realized that she's a wife material. She has a thing or two to learn from Tama.
>Aiba left Date in disgust because he wanted to fap to his moronic pseudo-niece
Date what the frick

how can Aiba even compare to Tama
Holup I forgot, how did Ryuki lose Tama and let Tearer blackmail him 6 years ago? This happened before the explosion, but when exactly?
I believe there's a point you can Wink Psync him that sort of details those events.
No, that was Mame in the cathedral
Nah, mame at the cathedral was in the present timeline
He first met tearer there, you can see it in the wink psync after he shoots bibi in the past timeline
Those were two separate encounters there, during different points of time.
>That feels like a stretch, and it doesn't explain the viewing of Mizuki and Bibi. It's... I dunno, it feels like a twist for the sake of a twist and so many things suffer from it, whereas nothing's really gained.
Anyone have any fanart requests? Preferably Ryuki and Tama or Mizuki and Bibi related.

What fools.. how I pity them
Tokiko's Somnium is absolute kino and easily the highlight of the game. Change my mind, frayer.
Gen's skull made me think he's her son but nothing came out of it. Weird
Gen's whole stuff with naix was kinda strange
The first half of the game was always giving hints of him getting manipulated by their philosophy but then it just led to nothing
My only assumption is they targeted Gen for recruitment but he was unresponsive due to finding worth in Amame or some such.
it's just a hint about his involvement in the Horadori experiments
>the final stretch where you have to swim for a whole minute
Hated it. Frick her Somnium.
you get a whole minute to look at Tama's ass and feet. be grateful
>Tokiko reaches outside the boundary of the game by making the Frayer remove their headphones for the duration of her Somnium
BRAVO
I don't even remember what it was.
The most memorable for me were Bibi's and Tearer's.
So what I'm getting at after reading the whole thing about 6 captives is
>Iris and five others are Frayers which allows them to see and observe info between worlds or some shit
>This explains Iris's random bullshit being right (Knowing about Naix, and immortality) this means her saying the wadjet system wants to expand across the universe, she could have been actually meaning timelines.

AAAA I'M FRAYING
Man, outside of Mizuki, Date, and technically Amame, it feels like the rest of the returning characters exist solely to bloat the game with extra dialogue, given that none of them actually contribute to the overarching plot in any meaningful way.
The first game did a pretty solid job at giving almost all of its characters at least something to do, so it sorta sticks out when you could remove half of them this time around and have almost nothing change.
Still enjoyed the game though.
they can't just not show up, most of them are intertwined with other characters so it would be weird for them not to show up
Iris, Ota, and Boss are the only ones that were outright required for their connections.
I think they do a decent job with Boss and I guess Mama as-well. The rest I agree with.
Not autistic about translations just give me a good fun game.
Finally beat it.
Decent but too many dream sequences and QTE.
I bet Mamoru lost his job too in Diverge. Poor dude.
what happens if you guess Tearer's name in your first go?
would you be able to play as Mizuki from the go? is it even possible to beat the game like that?
the plot lock requires Ryuki's endings too
So typing "Dahlia Boat" will do nothing?
it will send you on Mizuki route early but you still have to do Ryuki

the game must have sold like shit
150k in the west from best estimates, and like complete shit in Japan except for one really good pixiv artist in Japan as per the usual for Uchikoshi games
it seems that it (somehow) did better than the first one, at least on steam.
nvm I'm an idiot, this is compared last seven days.. not launch windows.
fwiw it's all time peak is almost 3 times AI1's peak. It's definitely doing better in the west even if the sales are subpar in japan like usual.
god that art. reminds me of the time where playing ZTD was essentially required to understand the Danganronpa 3 shitposting.
AI1 peaked a few days before AI2 got released though
I often wonder how Uchikoshi still manages to find work. Why do the Japs hate him so much?
he still gets work because his games are successful outside Japan
Yeah but it's not like these games are mega hits or anything. You'd think they would give other people a chance to make stuff.
probably cheap to make, so even moderate success is worth making sequels for
Do you think they don't give others a chance? They're probably less successful than Uchi, so you didn't even hear about them
they are probably satisfied with his work, he probably makes cheap games that sell enough to make a profit
They are reusing the engine and a lot of assets making it fairly cheap to produce. The main cost is likely the voice acting.
the main cost for this game was the motion capture + voice acting
they reused almost everything and made very little new assets
what will be the big twist for AI3?
Morphogenetic field isn't real
bad guy has TWO ai balls which will be dramatically revealed when he takes off his sunglasses
AND THEYLL BE IDENTICAL TWIN e-girl LESBIANS
And both are flat-chest because the antagonist has sisterly complex
COMPLEX?
Twin AI-ball models would be interesting
Your AI Ball has a split personality or something and was both working with and against you.
AI Ball that makes you see fake evidence using holograms or something
Honestly as someone who immediatly tought of pic related when first playing Somnium Files, it would be pretty funny if they actually followed up on the parallels.
Omniscient AI (Wadjet System) goes insane after realizing its stuck in a game. Turns what would have been Uchikoshi's greatest work to total shit, in order to piss off the Frayer.
The AI eyes aren't actual AIs but living beings from an alternative universe.
why would Phido turn into a shrimp, though
AI3 will happen in the USA, and the game will be fully in english, no japanese
I believe the USA bit, if only cause after being all "our world doesn't have a Liberty Island" in 2 I can see them being cheeky c**ts and having 3 open on Liberty Island or have the climax be there
>Boss and Pewter are gone
>when you psync without permission

This series unironically needs a Delta tier villain. That was legendary.

eggplant
was it the tumor?
more like the lack of it
She's a lot more ditsy in the game
she doesnt have her main heroine spot anymore so she doesnt have time to be serious
if that whole she's a frayer which is how she knew so much shit in the first game/how so many of her crazy theories in the first game turned out to be right in the second game thing turns out to correct, she may be intentionally fricking with us like Tokiko did.
Notice how her present-day bodysuit is a lot like Tokiko's?
we know she's evil because canonically she's a danganronpa fan, so we're going to have to stop her and put an end to her plan in 3
bouncy, bouncy, bouncy, bunny
>she's a frayer
I was under the impression that Frayers are entirely separate entities from the actual people in the game's world itself.
I never liked her, not even in the first game. She even dragged Otah or whatever in for the finale, as if she wasn't enough shit?

First game, it was fine, it was touching. I didn't need another.
Though seeing the boy laugh and smile was nice.
>Tama
I had mixed feelings. Liked her sex appeal and the jokes but eh, I just like the original so much more.
To be fair, the parent-child issues in the first game were at least a little different. This game was more about a frick-up father seeking redemption whilst the last was about a frick-up son.
It's a swap but not enough.
I feel like Tokiko ultimately only half won. She ascended but considering she's not here in front of us right now, that must mean wherever she appeared is another simulation underneath our own. Maybe there's no such thing as ascending but rather you move horizontally between simulations.
If she broke out once, she can break out again
>Tokiko breaks out of AI
>Shows up randomly in another Uchikoshi game, thinking she's broken through to reality
>Nobody acknowledges her existence
Date should've died or atleast been taken captive or tortured during the timeskip. It's so cheap that he just escaped and lost his memories for 6 years.

Didn't work!
the final dance is cringekino
In English, especially, but it made the ending memorable and it was kinda catchy. It was the right type of cringe.
Worked on me, but less so than the first. I think I'd have liked it about the same but they really overplayed it during the game itself. There's something like 4-5 times that dance occurs even before the finale.
Lien dancing in Kizuna's place did really make it work, at least.
Yeah, that was cute.
It didn't really work for me, because he'd already done it once in the story...
It wasn't as memorable but the lyrics were nice. but as you say, the song is SO COMMON
at least kizuna's VA can actually sing unlike iris's
I actually usually like AmaLee's voice and listen to some of her songs but her performance in AI sucked ass.
does chinese version remove lgbt, by the way?
why would a version meant to be sold in Taiwan remove lgbt? it's legal there
Honestly, unlikely.
Someone post the 2 webms that show the pandering.
>time to fight bad guys
>Do the QTE
>"oh no, they're back"
>repeat
Why. They did this at LEAST four times.
Even the finale is: we beat them, then we gotta do it again, and beat them again with MORE people.
Dear god.
Yeah, I feel like Uchikoshi got too excited with his brand new budget and went too far with the QTEs this time around, all QTEs should be 50% shorter
the shit cringe qte's are kino tho.
I don't mind they existing but the issue is that we literally win, and they just stand up again and we do it again.
Cut the number down and their length.
Danganronpa is so much better than this shit

>Danganronpa is so much better than this shit
DR and AI are at the same levels of Kusoge.
the final dance in Japanese was boring because it felt like a weird overproduced musical
the final dance in English was memorably fun cringe because it sounded like a bunch of people who have no experience singing trying to help their friend who can do an impromptu musical number

Every copy of AI: NI is personalized
SIX MINUTES
I know they didn't want to spoil much from the first game but it is still feels a miss opportunity that they didn't really touch on anything body swap wise since it is a major part of the psync tech.
>off-screen Mizuki is the twist in AI 3
Is there a point in making a /vg/ general?
games aren't popular enough for a /vg/ general, Ganker threads are all it can get
Generals are cancer that result in circlejerking and triphomosexualry. Why would you want that?
not enough popularity to justify it.
enjoy the threads until we disappear and uchikoshi drops a new game
remember when Aiba somnium'd that file and found the nirvana initiative? that was awesome
I like Bibi the most. Unlike Mizuki, she hasn't shamelessly shill leftist propaganda.
Where are the Mizuki lewds
Mizuki is not for lewd. Mizuki is though.

Man why does this series have be so niche that Mizuki only has one lewd art? Yet somehow there's two smut fics involving her.
>two smut fics involving her.
son
you'd better provide links to those
I can't link them directly but they're both on A03 just search for Date Kaname/Okiura Mizuki and they should be easy enough to find on A03.
>underage
not my thing unfortunately. Guess I'll have to wait and see if anybody does any AI2 smut fics.
I'm sure someone will, there's alot of potential for a Bibi/Mizuki/Date threesome.
>10 hours in
>will never finish the game before Ganker finishes discussing it because they finish games fast as frick
get out of the thread before you get spoiled moron.
why the frick would you enter a thread for a plot heavy "muh twists" game before your finish it?
it's been a week already, the frick is holding you up?
you can complete the game in under 20 hours
Iris
Damn, she's down bad
She gets me that hard, am I her boyfriend now?
If you can survive her jumping onto your pelvis area then yes.
It'd be worth it for her
I want a breedable tama so bad bros it's unreal.
the same happened to me
>no ladder jokes in the bonus 999 room
Laaaaame
This board is nothing but simulation.
Simulate this

I'm sure at least half of the posters here are literal GPT-like bots
Imagine how powerful they would be together
I though that when ryuki was shot at the stadium fight he was going to give his ai ball to Date. Shame it never happened
Same. Damn shame.
I feel like they'd say the most despicable horny shit, but they wouldn't feel anything towards each other. Like best buds partners in crime. They would unironically ,most likely, be super effective together.
BASED
Would they be into each other?
I like to think if they ever paired up their horny would cancer each other out and they wouldn't make a single lewd remark the whole time.
*cancel
I think you got it right the first time, anon.
Date would just have a passive Tama-supplied beam of porn in a tiny corner of his vision at all times and become superhuman.
would his body be able to survive operating at x3.6 power at all times? surely he'd have a heart attack at some point
