Then maybe troonyslators should stop fricking up games deliberately. You're making it a "both sides" thing, when it actually is a very straight line of one side doing something unnecessarily and stupid, and the other just saying that its unnecessary and stupid.

Also, the weed comic comes to mind reading your post.

it's impossible in current year. the mentality I'll are ingesting all forms of media and it can't be genuine. the people localizing games absolutely hate the Japanese and their culture. plus we don't need it anymore since anyone can learn about other countries via the internet. there's no reason to be ignorant about them anymore

As someone who has only recently just gotten started trying to learn japanese
    >Hiragana and Katakan: A-ok, most symbols are pretty simple
    >Kanji: Honestly, not that bad, I can see how it... what do you mean there is at least two readings with the majority of them?
    >Reading basic sentences: Ok, ok, the multiple readings thing isn't that bad and most words you can see how the symbols combine to make those words (Monday literally being Moon, weekday and day) but... why does "Ha" become "Wa" sometimes? (I actually researched this and the answer is interesting)... and just skimming ahead to see what's in front of me I see the dark pit that is grammar.
I'm enjoying it but jesus, it has a habit of beating you down.

I mean, if we try to dissect our mother languages, we'll find funky ass grammar rules there too.
We are just already used to it and I doubt most anons here pursue language degrees trying to learn the proper ins and outs of their own native language at an older age.

        Anonymous

I mean true. That's the thing though, I am used to my language's shitty rules, not another's. That said, Japanese so far just shows I need a different mindset on how I should think a sentence should be formed, which isn't too bad right now but I can tell is going to get worse. Particles however are a fricking god send at this point.

Wait till you get to slang, also numbers will bust your balls

        >Slang
My consumption of anime has already informed me that it will be a rabbit hole, but as an australian I know slang is going to be a ball buster in any language, you just gotta get in and do it

The thing with kanji is that they help you understand concept fast. Once you know a kanji and read compound words that have the kanji, in most cases, you can grasp the idea behind them. It's just a matter of how often you see those kanji over and over.
Sure learning onyomi and kunyomi will take time but at least you already understand the gist of the sentence only by glancing at the kanji.

          Anonymous

Should I learn how to write them too? And if so, how? (I have no intention of moving to Japan, just in case)

            Anonymous

Yes you should, having all your senses working (ears, eyes, hands) will help you remember stuff faster than just training one or the other.
The best way to do so is by grabbing any basic level kanji book and repeat the kanji writing lesson IMO. Then make an Anki/flashcard out of the stuff you've written yourself -- don't rely on premade ones unless you're only using them as supplements to spend time waiting the bus or while in the crapper

chud was invented because a bunch of very online and very left people wanted to have an insult for right-wingers that wasn't bigoted (which includes stuff like moron, idiot or autist since that's at the expense of the neurodivergent)

it has very little descriptive attributes

First step is to be loud and call the culprits out by name specifically. This is literally what the other side does. This is how they get actors fired and VAs replaced. Just be loud and abrasive to the corpo suits and they will say "this person is a liability, throw them out".
May seem dirty, but the key difference is we want these people out because they make the product worse, not because of their external opinions.
This also means you'll need to make a twitter account, again, sounds filthy, but this is the modern battlefield, and if you don't show up, the enemy will occupy it. Your choice.

One of the reasons the translation is so ridiculous is because "chud" is not well defined and so many people don't know what it means which makes the translation fail even harder at getting the intended message accross. Now that I think about it, what is the easiest way to explain the use of the word "chud" to someone who isn't a internet addict and doesn't know about any of that sort of stuff? "Individualist" is the best I've come up with because it seems to be what a chud basically is and even if the person you're explaining to has never heard of individualism the name itself is pretty self explanatory.

These translators mess up when they put in stuff that looks completely out of place. I'd like to see these translators make a "localization" that carefully doesn't have anything that looks out of place.
