Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed - Director's Cut

I just finished Kati's route. What did I think of it?
Also, comfy Akiba's thread.

I've never played it but I see it all the time. Was this the game that almost killed xseed

No, that was Akiba's Beat, if anything it killed Akiba's for a while. A massive disappointment and just a lame Tales Of knockoff. None of what made Akiba's Trip charming (stripping, equipping anything and everything), generic as hell.

I actually liked Akiba's Beat. The mechanics are shit, the graphics suck but the story is kind of charming really; it's pretty basic but there was something about it that had me hooked for some reason. Maybe because at the time I was a filthy NEET just like the MC or whatever.

I only played the original PSP game and never finished it.

The original (remastered as Hellbound & Debriefed) hasn't aged well in terms of gameplay. I'd still recommend U&U, which was a lot less janky.

You thought that XSEED's IPs would be in better hands if they were sold to NISA.

Yeah, Ys VIII was so good they had to issue a public apology for it.

I really liked the atmosphere, but I hated how best girl Kati had no route. I never thought they'd go back and give her one like 10 years later.
I might have to replay it.

Wasn't there an interview where the devs said they named hr Raikkonen because it's the only Finnish surname they knew? And turns out it's a very uncommon one?

I felt it was worth the $8. Really enjoyed her route.

Has anyone here seen the anime? What are your thoughts? I've read that it's not great.

It's average. Nothing special, even if you're a diehard fan of the games.

Don't listen to those asses, it was a blast. There are some eps that are mid but when it's good is really good.

still waiting for the kati update on the vita version btw

Never happening. The final battle would be impossible on it, considering the Vita/PS3 version can't even handle large crowds on the streets (which were added in the PS4/PC version) Final battle involves you and all the freedom fighters versus the final boss and like 20-30 of her flunkies, all at once. It's a miracle the Switch can handle it.

I've heard about this. It's already out? Well shit time to replay the game I guess.

It was worth the wait. Somewhat like Shion's route, the story branches off completely with you abandoning the freedom fighters and saving Kati from a demon inside her, even teaming up with Zenya. There's also a few new side-quests, though they're mostly fetch quests. (with amusing dialogue, at least, especially the body pillow one)

Agreed, and during Kati's route it was feelsy to see Shizuku saying she wished things could be different and hinted that she wanted to be together with MC.

      Yes, assuming it's U&U and not H&D.

If you can't deal with jank you're not gonna like it. Combat is very stiff but fun once you get used to it, and it's challenging in the arena and some of the final side quests. If you're not into the otaku/tokuota scene you also won't like it.

Dang, I wish we get something new similar to WOTS. Doesn't have to be a new game in the series, just something with a similar concept. Akiba's is similar but each route is too long, I want something like WOTS, short but very replayable.

      >but each route is too long,
They're only 3 to 4 hours long if you're rushing them. I know in WotS some routes are a bit faster but it's only as long as you spend doing side quests really.

Normally yeah. WOTS playthrough can go from hours to literally like fifteen minutes. You also have much more choices and much more endings. In WOTS3 you can kill off one of the most important character in the story at the very start of the game and basically mess up any chance of having a good ending.
In Akiba you have to play the whole game. I don't hate that, it's a normal thing for a game to do, but man WOTS give you so much freedom in messing around with the story and characters it's so much fun. 4 is a bit disappointing though, considering early on all the story characters are practically invincible.

I remember that one not being too bad, though I did have pretty good stats when I went into it. The 2nd one can go frick itself.
